#255. The Knights’ Secret Weapon 9

The wizards and goblins were escaping through the tunnel beneath the watermill.

This watermill was installed above the water level so that it would not be submerged when the water level of the river changed and underneath it were shafts for transmitting power and a maintenance passage for servicing the shafts. The watermill was exiting through the maintenance passage.

    “Hey! It’s a goblin!”

Camilla who had not yet charged into the mill shouted as she attacked the wizard with her shortbow.

    “That’s interesting!”

The wizard deployed a wall of power.

The arrows fired by Camilla were stopped by a wall of force.

“How dare you a worthless human woman ignore me. I will kill you.”

The wizard revealed a vicious gaze towards Camilla who had attacked him. His yellow eyes like those of a snake flashed with a vicious murderous intent.

    But Camilla scoffed.

“How dare you hurt my little brother?!”

    “?!”

Only then did the wizard look with confusion as he saw a familiar amulet wrapped around Camilla’s arrow.

This is a lightning amulet used by the Northern Aragasa. Were there any amulets left that didn’t explode? They’re wrapped around Camilla’s arrow?

‘You picked up my talisman and took it back? No if you touched it wrong it would have exploded. How can this woman handle my talisman?’

As the wizard was amazed by Camilla’s agility the amulet began to explode.

    -Pants squeak!

The amulet exploded sending electrical sparks crashing down on the wizard and goblin.

    “Keeeeeek!”

The goblin screamed and fell down. The electric shock also passed through Izmilla who was being carried by the goblins and she woke up from the shock.

    “omg?!”

“Are you crazy?! Didn’t you come here to save this knight?”

The wizard flicked his tongue as he channeled the electric shocks that were rushing at him into the barrier.

A beast-like humanoid with a dog-like head but reptilian eyes with vertical pupils appeared.

    “It’s a cobalt blue.”

As Bernard made his seal flesh and blood spurted out from the body of the goblin that had been struck by lightning and fell shooting towards the kobold wizard.

But the Kobold wizard also formed a bond to fight back.

    “Ooh!”

A shockwave spread out from the kobold wizard scattering the flying blood droplets.

    But then Camilla attacked again.

This time he fired a stone with a volley.

The Kobold Wizard once again deployed a force barrier to block the arrows but somehow the stone Camilla fired passed through the force barrier and exploded in front of the Kobold Wizard.

A strong flash of light and a loud noise took away the Cobalt Wizard’s life and hearing.

    “Ugh!”

    “Huh?”

    Bernard watched it closely.

    “It’s a magic stone. A magic stone.”

“Was there something like that? When you joined the pilgrimage group you were searched and all your belongings were taken away right? And after that there wasn’t anywhere to get magic stones right?”

    “It’s a secret.”

Camilla said as she placed another stone on her shortbow and fired.

    -Exactly!

A stone struck the head of the confused kobold wizard causing blood to flow out as he lost his sight.

    “Ugh!”

The cobalt wizard took a scroll from his bosom and unfolded it.

His eyesight and hearing have not yet returned.

Above all I can’t just run away now that I’m in shock and have lost my sense of balance. If I make a mistake and move my foot I’ll fall and die.

“What the hell! You’re making me write this!”

The scroll began to burn forming a circle of flame in front of and behind the kobold wizard.

And from within that circle of flames a gigantic monster the size of an ogre appeared.

    “Ugh?”

“Everyone be careful! This is a demon summoning!”

Izmila who had come to her senses warned.

She tried to free herself from the black chains that bound her body but her angelic powers were useless.

The devil approached her as she stepped back moving her free feet in a situation where she could not move at all.

The demon took the form of a bear whose skin had been peeled off with magical fire flashing across its skinless muscles in place of its skin.

On its head two savage and menacing horns rose forward their surface tattooed with lightning and flames indicating that it was not a natural creature.

The tail which runs along the spine and ends at the end of the spine is made of only bones without any flesh resembling a torture whip used to strip the flesh from prisoners.

With every step the demon takes flames spread across the floor.

“Oh this is pretty strong isn’t it?”

Just looking at it brings about instinctive fear.

“It would be better to attack the patient!”

Camilla aimed her arrow at the wizard. The summoned demon covered the wizard with its body.

A stone fired from the bow hit the demon but the flame skin on its massive body bounced the stone away.

    “Your teeth won’t even fit?”

    Camilla moaned.

    “Should I write it….?”

Then the devil’s horns glowed and six burning lumps of coal appeared beside his head.

“Oh that’s a very powerful magic. I can’t help it.”

Bernard grumbled and took his wand out of his sleeve manipulating it with flowing gestures as if he were drawing a picture.

Then a stream of water began to gush out of the river.

    -!!!!

The demon spoke incomprehensibly to the humans and fireballs flew in.

At the same time the water stream that Bernard pulled up also flies towards the fire coal.

Six streams of fire and six streams of water clashed against each other entangled and clashing like hydras trying to bite each other’s necks.

A loud noise echoed as a steam explosion occurred.

‘This kid. He’s not just a simple blood wizard?’

Camilla was taken aback by Bernard’s calm exchange of magic with the devil.

    “Blood and water are similar.”

As Bernard spoke he was sucked up into the river forming a sphere of water around him.

The devil’s horns glowed and flames rose up in front of his two horns then a powerful beam of flame shot out in a straight line.

Bernard fired a stream of water from the orb of water to counter the fire beam cast by the demon.

Every time the water stream and the fire beam collided the water boiled and steam poured out.

    “Huh! What are these?”

The wizard who finally regained his sight and hearing from the flash and shock was amazed by Bernard’s power to exchange magic on equal terms with the demon.

He also tried to join the fight by casting a spell…

    “Oh that’s difficult.”

    -Pfft!

Suddenly a large longsword emerged from his back and pierced his chest.

Azadin who had emerged from the mill suddenly attacked the kobold wizard with a ceramite longsword.

    “Ugh!?”

Azadin raised his sword which had stabbed the kobold wizard.

    -Crack!

The ceramite longsword sliced through the kobold mage’s ribcage and came out. Blood poured out like a fountain and the kobold mage fell.

The lungs had spilled out of the severed rib cage making it an incurable injury.

    -Krrrrrr!

The demon growled as the summoner’s life came to an end then created a circle of flames for itself and walked beyond it.

    “Azadin!”

“Everyone did well. Are you okay?”

    “Oh thanks.”

    Camilla glanced at Bernard.

Despite using this magic Bernard didn’t even sweat much; he just coughed a little as usual.

“Hmm. Wow you guys are really great.”

    Izmila rose from her chains.

    “Is that a black chain?”

Azadin tried to free the black steel chains that bound her body.

It’s surprising that Izmila couldn’t move even though they were just wrapped around each other so that they rubbed against each other without any kind of lock.

Azadin took hold of the detached black steel chain and swung it around before throwing it at a nearby wooden pillar.

A black steel chain wrapped around the wooden pillar and stayed there.

If you try to release it from that state it doesn’t release right away.

    “It’s a pretty good chain isn’t it?”

Azadin realized that this black steel chain was a great treasure.

It is easy to use as it can be used to bind Celestials without them being able to move and they will get entangled just by throwing it.

‘I should also be careful as the enemy may have more of these.’

Azadin picked up the black steel chain and looked back at Izmila.

“Well then… I’m glad you’re safe Sir Izmilla. Can you explain the situation to me?”

“Oh Sir Azadin. Thank you for your assistance. Without you I would have been captured without a trace.”

“You’re an angel right? Created within the Rescue Knights.”

“I am ashamed to say that although I have the appearance of an angel I am not a complete angel. My true identity is a top secret even within the Rescue Knights so it was not supposed to be known originally…”

“It’s better to reveal yourself than to be captured. Don’t worry too much about revealing yourself in front of the numerous citizens of Fireglyph. It was an act of God.”

    Azadin said so shamelessly.

“Oh what I meant was I was worried about whether I should reveal the secret to Lord Azadin. Yes I have. I have told the citizens of Fireglyph.”

“Yes. That’s such a big secret huh? But the other party already knew about your strength and ability and they even brought this equipment. Is that secret okay? Doesn’t everyone in Hybris know about it?”

Azadin took out the black steel chain and showed it to me.

In addition he searched through the kobold wizard’s luggage and carefully took magical amulets wands and money.

“The enemy approached us using the murders in the castle as an excuse. And there were doppelgangers too. And the northern Aragasas. Oh by the way what happened to them?”

When Izmila asked that everyone looked at Azadin.

    Azadin shrugged.

    “Run away.”

    ‘You let it go.’

Everyone thought so but no one pursued it.

No it would be normal if I couldn’t pursue it.

Those who knew well how terrifying Azadin’s power was did not want to bother him with such trivial matters.

    But Izmila was embarrassed.

“Huh? They took my sword. It’s a ceramite longsword. I can’t lose it.”

“Fortunately I got your sword back. Just wait a moment.”

Azadin said and shook his hand. Then Izmilla’s ceramite longsword fell from the sky.

    “uh?”

    “….”

    Bernard laughed at the sight.

The 1st Lieutenant Zan who had been hiding nearby threw Izmilla’s ceramite longsword at Azadin’s orders.

    “What did you do?”

“It’s my magic. Here it is.”

    “This is magic?”

“You probably don’t know much about the Emperor’s magic. Don’t ask for details. It’s confidential.”

Azadin tried to cover it up but Izmila really trusted him. This was the second time that Azadin had appeared and saved her from a crisis. It would be ungrateful to doubt Azadin in such a situation so Izmila decided to trust him completely.
