#253. The Knights’ Secret Weapon 7

    “These kids!”

Delia was annoyed at Camilla for suppressing her and bursting into laughter.

He was subdued because of Azadin but those who were originally just prey were mocking him.

But their attention was focused elsewhere.

“Oh. Is Sir Izmila here? I like that woman.”

Countach was delighted to hear that Sir Ismilla had arrived.

Azadin said so and fiddled with the leather strap of his ceramite longsword Aurelia Dunn.

“It is said that the blood of angels is used to make ceramite longswords. I heard that the Knights of Wisdom independently study alchemy and magic and that their level of study is very high. Isn’t Sir Izmilla one of the fruits of such study? And that is probably why they attacked her.”

    “Ugh…..”

“So Delia. Those doppelgangers were all attacked by Izmilla and there are dead bodies at the scene so if they did something that would get them caught it would be better to hurry up and clean it up.”

    “You. What are you thinking?”

“I’m thinking of exchanging information. How is the Senate doing now? How has it been since the death of the leader Hathir? The curse of service has been lifted but I’m sure he’s lost the Emperor’s voice as well.”

“If you hadn’t betrayed us we would have taken control of at least two kingdoms deciphered the secrets of the Book of the New King and become the rulers of this land! That….”

“The Senate hasn’t given up yet. Have they given up on finding copies of the Book of the New Kings because I returned a significant portion of it to the throne of Bthuma? So the next target chosen is the Knights of Salvation? Hmm. Who is currently leading the clan? How is the Etar clan doing?”

Azadin paused for a moment his voice cracking with questions.

“And… Midiam Etar and his servant Ismail? Are they safe?”

When Azadin was lost and wandering Midiam Etar gave Azadin his voice back. It was the first time for Azadin who had been persecuted by his clan to have someone return the words he had spoken and the beliefs he had believed in.

Positive interactions with others: pure goodwill and trust not sympathy or affection like Aldis.

    I’m worried about Medium Etar.

However there is no way that the Ethar bloodline would have left her the heir to the Ethar bloodline to die.

And now Azadin had a grand plan that he couldn’t give up halfway.

So rather than going out to find Medium I wanted to tackle this plan first but I thought it would be okay to ask around a little.

“I said I won’t tell! You are a traitor to this clan!”

    Delia didn’t answer.

Looking at it like that it seems like at least everything is okay.

They could have made Azadin anxious by holding him captive or torturing him but since they didn’t do anything like that either Delia didn’t know or nothing really happened.

“You speak as if you believed me. And I am only faithful as the Emperor’s messenger. It is you who have betrayed my mission not me.”

As Azadin was saying that the doppelgangers brought tea.

When Azadin asked for tea it really came. They looked uncomfortable as if they were also nervous.

Azadin took the teacup and offered it to Bernard.

“It’s poisonous. It’s red mushroom poison. It won’t contaminate your silver needles but if you eat it you’ll get a high fever and diarrhea and die.”

The doppelgangers made excuses as Bernard explained clearly.

“No that’s… Also if you just bring out the tea it’s a bit too much. There’s something like that. If you give in too weakly it looks mean.”

“Our nature tells us to do this. Please understand it’s not that we have any malicious intentions but rather that it’s our nature.”

“Oh right. I understand that. Then please understand my nature of punishing you when my life is threatened. Right!”

Azadin says so and slaps his right ear with his right hand.

Before the doppelganger can block it a slap comes flying and hits him.

    “left.”

When I told the next guy to go left the doppelganger quickly raised his arm to block it.

But Azadin swung his hand widely thrusting through the gap between the defending arms and slashing the doppelganger’s ear.

If it were a person their eardrums would have burst.

    “……..”

‘If you’re going to hit me by piercing my hand that blocked it then there’s no point in calling me out right?’

‘Oh my god shit. We’re getting beaten up by humans.’

    ‘But is that guy human?’

The doppelgangers didn’t understand why they were being hit.

There was a sense of intimidation that made me feel like I was stuck like a frog in front of a poisonous snake and that made me get beaten up unilaterally.

“So. Didn’t you join hands with the Northern Qi? The Northern Aragasas I mean.”

What’s even crazier and more insane is that after beating him like that Azadin asks questions as if nothing happened and as if it were his natural right.

Azadin is acting according to the line between his relationship with the Emperor’s messenger and the support organization that supports him.

If they were clearly enemies I would risk my life to resist them but Azadin treated them as members of a friendly organization.

I’m already scared because I’m treated as a member of a friendly organization but I don’t know what will happen if I cross that line.

Even doppelgangers with evil natures were tormented by their own imaginations.

Azadin’s harassing behavior towards them is painful but it makes my stomach churn to imagine Azadin becoming even more vicious if he crosses this line.

Imagination is more frightening than direct pain.

Azadin was dominating this place by using the very fear of imagination.

    “Ugh… I can’t say it!”

Delia still refused to listen to Azadin’s questions.

    ‘Hey talk to me.’

    ‘I don’t fit in…’

The doppelgangers looked at Delia with resentment at her needlessly proud pride.

“But are you okay? When the doppelgangers attacked Izmilla wiped them all out and then the northern Aragasas suddenly kidnapped Izmilla who you had marinated?”

    “what”

“If it’s a team then the time difference attack was successful but if it’s not a team then you guys were unilaterally exploited…”

“What the hell! You were just watching that? Oh no. No.”

Delia jumped and came to her senses when she heard that the Northern Aragats had kidnapped Izmilla and that Azadin was watching.

Judging from the reaction it seemed that the Senate had not yet joined hands with the Northern Qi or the northern Aragats.

“Then shall I take a look at the alchemy equipment contract? How much did you sign the contract for?”

Azadin received the documents from Bernard and looked at the amount.

“Isn’t this a bit of a rip-off? I think they’re placing orders with the dwarves in Banreung. Even if they deliver it to Tarasar it’ll be cheaper than this price.”

“This is the Chadra Plateau. You should be grateful just to be able to do business here.”

“Originally instead of receiving money from the Emperor’s messenger shouldn’t you be the one providing the operating funds? But right now I’m also performing the duties of a trainee knight of the Rescue Knights. Understood. I’ll pay for this. In return you must deliver it to Fort Vermilion. Without breaking a single flask.”

    “….”

“Then go. You doppelgangers died in the middle of the city streets so take care of yourself. Delia. Oh. I almost forgot.”

Azadin approached Delia and suddenly extended his hand to her.

A surprised Delia unconsciously hugged Azadin.

“This guy! What the hell is he doing with Arael’s face right now….”

“Isn’t that an Azure Steel arrow? Take some.”

Azadin took the Azuresteel arrows and the Qingdao arrows from the quiver behind Delia and went out of the Vandyke Company with his men.

“Oh and if there’s anyone who wants to work as a farmer or laborer please recommend them to Fort Vermilion. I want to increase the population rapidly. There’s enough support so don’t worry. Then let’s really go.”

“Ugh! This traitor of a clan!”

Delia whose face was red was so angry that she didn’t know what to do. Looking at Delia like that Azadin snickered and left with his subordinates.

    “That’s the traitor Azadin.”

    “…Hmm.”

The doppelgangers a race of evil safeshifters breathed a sigh of relief when Azadin left.

Although I felt like I had been toyed with in one way or another I was grateful that Azadin was now out of their sight.

    *********

“Can we let them live? Doppelgangers are inherently evil. They are monsters obsessed with killing others and eating their forms.”

    Camilla asked Azadin seriously.

“They are the ones with the foundation of a company. If I attack them now my position as a mere apprentice knight will be in an awkward position. What is more important is rescuing Sir Izmilla.”

Azadin said as he headed towards the north gate of Fireglyph.

“And they have a use for it later.”

    *********

Arael’s voice soared like a bird in the sky chasing the northern Aragats who had kidnapped Izmilla. The northern Aragats joined their comrades at the watermill outside the Fireglyph Gate and among them was a wizard.

This wizard was wearing a robe with strange magical characters engraved all over his body. This robe alone was suspicious enough to get him arrested if he passed through any proper castle or gate.

But then he stuck his finger out of his robe.

The fingers curved with sharp nails were clearly not human. He pointed to the sky with his finger.

“Oh my goodness. There’s a surveillance spell in the sky!”

    “what?”

    “Is this foresight?”

“A similar but more powerful and evil force.”

    “Damn it! Then it’s Azadin.”

The 1st Lieutenant Jeanne realized why Azadin was not pursuing them.

Azadin was waiting with pursuers attached to track their movements to see where they were going.

Fortunately the wizard noticed it but he was annoyed.

“You idiots I had high hopes that you were the same kind of people as the messenger clan but you came with this stalking plan!”

“What? Are you making fun of us now?”

“Watch your mouth wizard. If you don’t want to experience the power of our Aragasa….”

The northern Aragats threatened the wizard but the wizard did not seem to take their threats seriously at all.

I don’t know if he is confident in his strength or if he had other intentions from the beginning but he is definitely not an easy person.

The wizard spoke paying no heed to the threats and intimidation of the Aragasas.

“Who talks about strength? They talk about the gray-white tofu you carry around in your heads.”

    “This guy…..”

The Aragasas radiated a terrifying murderous aura but this wizard was no pushover either as he sneered at their murderous aura.

A shrill inhuman voice and the sound of gnashing teeth are heard.

In the midst of the tense atmosphere where it seemed as if they were going to kill each other Izmila whom they had been holding captive woke up.
