Night of the Soulless Heathens – 246

#246. Rookie Paladin Azadin 7
“You can’t kill me. I am Azadin Arael’s younger brother. Even if you are a nightmare from an old tale do you think you can reach even a single toe of Arael’s power?”
As a blood relative of Arael he cannot be defeated by such things. Azadin emphasized that point.
Although he did not get along well with Arael when she was alive he now knows how strong and beautiful she was how she rebelled against the Herald Clan and brought together many people for her freedom and how she has become a source of pride for Azadin.
There is no way that the devils whispering in these shadows could harm him having inherited Arael’s power.
“It was a mistake to speak as if you knew about my future. At least you know that I won’t die by your hands right?”
“You have great confidence my child. But you have sinned against the Rescue Knights.”
“You are trying to mine cinnabar by using sorcery. Don’t you know that the cinnabar was originally our gift?”
“Those who serve us are spread all over this place and they can accuse you with their own mouths.”
Surprisingly the Shade Hags knew that Azadin was using necromancy to mine cinnabar and they used that to blackmail Azadin.
It was enough to make Kallan and Legion’s livers shiver as they listened.
Using the undead is an unforgivable act for the Salvation Knights.
But Azadin was not afraid.
“The devils who used to imitate God now resort to human means. Don’t they know that they have become quite ridiculous?”
“….”
“So? Is that all you have to fight me?”
Azadin paid no attention to the Hags’ threats and enticement.
“I guess you doubt our abilities my child.”
“We promised her that we would kill any knights who were assigned here.”
“I thought I would forgive you if you served us as I felt it was a waste of your talents but now I guess you too will have to die.”
“I wanted to give you as sweet dreams as possible before I killed you but the souls of the Herald Clan belong to the Emperor so it’s pitiful.”
The Shade Hags’ voices disappeared replaced by a loud roar.
Ogres with strange growths on their faces and swamp crayfish measuring about three meters long and with large pincers appear and rush into the village.
“under.”
A smile appeared on Azadin’s lips.
“How crude. You can’t win with words so you resort to force. How can you make a living by cheating like that?”

Azadin taunted the Shade Hags raising their fighting spirit.
The soldiers were tied up and restrained by the illusion. There were only a few people who could fight at the moment. In such a situation these monsters suddenly appeared.
Even when the soldiers are completely unharmed they are dangerous monsters.
But unfortunately their opponent was Azadin.
“Is this really all you’ve got against me?”
Azadin grabbed the messenger’s bow the Moon-Horned Bow and fired an arrow.
-Wedge!
The arrow flew in a straight line then bent at a sharp angle and pierced the ogre’s ear.
A giant ogre falls sideways from a single small arrow.
The ogre writhing in pain on the floor could not get up. The arrow had hit his semicircular canal causing him to lose his sense of balance.
Although he is not dead right now and is still struggling he has lost his sense of balance and has become a useless being.
After a very long time the ogre may be able to balance and move around as the semicircular canal breaks but for now at least this ogre is just a rolling lump of meat.
-Kururung.
The swamp crayfish covered in calluses all over its body ignores its fellow ogre and advances forward even when he is downed.
But Azadin fired a second arrow without thinking.
The arrow changed course in the air again and broke in front of the crayfish.
‘Did I miss it?’
Everyone thought so because the arrow that Azadin fired flew towards the crayfish and missed to the side.
But after a while they realized that they had made a big mistake.
The crayfish is wandering around unable to find its direction.
The arrow fired by Azadin severed two of the eye supports protruding from the crayfish’s body.
The crayfish having lost its sight instinctively backed away and rolled down the slope of the fortress.
Even Legion and Kallan couldn’t help but admire the sight of him slaying an ogre and a giant swamp crayfish with just two arrows.
‘That’s amazing.’
‘The Jeonryung clan had a grand reputation as the Kingslayer but it really was not true. Rather the rumors were lacking.’
Azadin who had shown such power even yawned as if he was bored.
“I wish I had something more to show you. Shade Hag? Is this the end?”
Rather it was to the extent of provocation.
“How dare you.”
“You insult us!”
In the darkness the Shade Hags could be heard raging.
It was a horrible and terrifying sound that would make any living creature’s hair stand on end and they would not dare move but Azadin only made the Shade Hags mock him even more.
“I guess this is all you can do. Is all you can do is just tremble and do nothing?”
“Captain. Do you really need to provoke me…”
Legion and Kalan were taken aback by Azadin’s remarks that provoked the Shade Hags for no reason. However what Azadin demanded was clear.
“You cannot kill me. If you cannot grant the wish of the poor soul who cursed the Knights of Salvation and devoted herself to you she is not yours.”
Azadin demanded the witched female slaves that caused the Shade Hags to curse Fort Vermillion.

“You bastard! That kid is now a part of us! You want me to give him back?!”
“You don’t know the topic!”
The darkness began to stir. A black vortex arose in the center of Fort Vermilion and a hag covered in pitch-black darkness appeared.
A gigantic hag the size of a large tree suddenly appeared in the middle of the square. Was Shade Hag finally revealing herself?
“The condition is serious.”
Azadin frowned.
“Yes! This is me! You filthy filthy hypocrite of the Knights of Salvation! You speak of virtue with your mouth but behind your back you unhesitatingly pursue your own desires! Just one more! Just kill one more knight and offer the sacred number six as a sacrifice and you will become a true Shade Hag! How dare you sabotage me!”
The Shade Hag in front of her eyes was none other than the female slave who had been cursing the knights who were assigned to Fort Vermillion.
The Shade Hags made a pact to receive her soul and body in exchange for granting her wish.
Her wish is to kill the knights stationed at Fort Vermillion complete the sacred number 6 of Wild Magic and be reborn as Shade Hag.
However if she cannot kill Azadin now that he has been appointed as the leader of Vermillion her wish will not be fulfilled. So the Shade Hags have sent in the person responsible for the curse.
“Becoming a Shade Hag is unacceptable.”
“Don’t make me laugh! You think you can save me but to me salvation is revenge! Killing you hypocritical paladins is the only way to save me! The only way you can save me is by giving up the life of that pitiful knight!”
As the female slave already half a Shade Hag cast a spell horrible shadow monsters burst out from her shadow.
The shadows of wild animals such as giant wolves bears and moose the size of bulls appeared in the thick darkness.
It was difficult to recognize the monsters made up of dark shadows in the night.
“Now kill them! Every damned thing in this fortress! Especially the knights!”
The witch was so scared of Fort Vermillion that she even ordered the killing of civilians.
“Eek?!”
“Uh us too?! Why?”
The startled villagers tried to run away but their bodies were now tied to the pillars. They had bound themselves to counter the illusions used by the Shade Hags but now it was hindering their escape.
Of course the ropes that bound them were designed to be untied by oneself but it was no easy task to untie the rope knots while monsters were scurrying around right before one’s eyes.
“Legion! Kallan! Release the soldiers! Camilla! Countach! Bernard! Protect the people!”
Azadin shouted and kicked the ground. At the same time Azadin’s ceramite longsword Aurelia Dawn began to burn golden.
A beautiful golden sword light separated the shadow beasts from the darkness of the night. Golden wheels danced along their sharp outlines. The blazing holy sword passed through the wolf’s neck.
“You’re amazing! Yes! That’s the Emperor’s Herald Sword!”
The woman who became a witch due to the immoral actions of the Rescue Knights attacked Azadin spitting out curses as if spitting blood.
Azadin cut off the hook-like arm of the witch who was trying to grab him and began to cut her body into pieces.
The ceramite longsword is a dull-feeling sword compared to well-forged steel but the longer it burns the sharper and keener it becomes.
The dazzling sword light repeatedly slices through the Shade Hag carving off a body the size of a giant tree.
“Ugh!”
“Give up. You cannot kill me. Your contract will fail and Shade Hag’s power will be lost.”
Azadin briefly put away his flaming holy sword.
If you cut too quickly even the witch in the shadow will die. Even as Azadin pulled back his sword the power of the Shade Hag had already left him and the black shadow disappeared revealing the witch’s naked body within it.
She tried to gather the power of the Shade Hag that was spreading around her as if it were the hem of her clothes and forcibly attach it to her body.
“No. I don’t want to lose my power and become a powerless being! I don’t want to become someone who can be trampled on as you please!”
The witch writhed in hatred but the Shade Hag’s power was leaving her body.
“As far as my power allows! At least I will make sure that no one is unjustly trampled here! So give up!”
Azadin held out his hand instead of his sword.
“How can I believe what you say? All men are like that! They say they are different from others! But in the end they are all the same!”
“If you don’t trust my promises don’t trust the promises of the Shade Hags! You’ve already achieved your revenge so why would you sacrifice your soul?!”
“What?! No. My revenge is not over yet! All of you hypocritical knights….”
“You’re going to kill all the hospitalers in the world? Is that what the Shade Hags promised?”
“….”
“No way. Shade Hag has to kill one more person to get your soul! Then why would they fight the Hospitaller?!”
“Ugh!”
“I will take revenge on you and create a world where the weak are not trampled on! At least within my power! If you want to believe this promise take my hand!”
Azadin approached her again extending his hand.
She was hesitating.
My heart is moved by the light of Aurelia Dunn radiating from Azadin and by his purple eyes.
however….
“Creak!”
Then suddenly a scream was heard.
