Night of the Soulless Heathens – 245

#245. Rookie Paladin Azadin 6
Azadin sat in his room on the top floor of the tower of Fort Vermillion.
Even though it is the top floor it is a tower as tall as a three-story building. However since it is on top of a peak the view outside the window is incredibly high. It is a good location to see those approaching the fortress at a glance.
Azadin had already completed all the paperwork.
The platoon leader has been away for half a year so a lot of work has piled up but in the end it’s a small fortress. With most of the work done the only thing left is time.
Azadin had been meditating and organizing the grimoires of Arael within his body.
The necromancy that created the undead used in cinnabar mining was also discovered in Arael’s grimoires.
‘Arael is truly amazing.’
These were clearly magics that Azadin did not know well but just by contemplating the book of Arael’s magic that had grown within him knowledge and memories came back to him as if he had known them all along.
Does Arael understand and master all these grimoires?
Azadin was thrilled by the incredible legacy Arael had left behind.
Her talent her will and the weight of the burden that weighed on her shoulders are felt.
‘What a pity. If only my body had been whole…’
Azadin felt sorry as he sorted through the vast amount of magic Arael had left him.
While I was meditating like that Arael’s voice suddenly warned me.
Darkness was coming in like a flood closing in on Fort Vermilion.
The power of the Shade Hag was seen from the perspective of a high-flying bird as it engulfed the Vermillion stronghold.
A startled Azadin finished his meditation and stood up from his seat.
As I approached the terrace of the tower and looked down at the village I saw that darkness was quickly creeping in swallowing up the valley.
“It’s a beginning.”
Azadin picked up the ceramite longsword the moonbow and the quiver of arrows.
“Sergeant!”
The soldiers’ shouts rang out from beneath the tower.
“Going down!”
Azadin jumped down from the Vermillion Tower.
Even though it was called a tower it was only three stories tall if you count it as a building. Azadin jumped onto the roof of the barracks next door and rolled over lightly to land on the ground.

“The wind is not normal! Shade Hag will appear!”
“I know. Get everyone inside the barracks Legion! Kalan! Just leave you guys behind!”
“yes!”
“The soldiers?”
“I tied them all to the poles!”
Shade Hags use illusions. They use illusions related to sexual desire and lust which are especially effective on men so no matter how many there are ordinary soldiers are only distracted by the illusions.
It is said that Kallan and Legion tied their soldiers to pillars in advance to prevent damage when the Shade Hag appeared.
In other words we should assume that the two people maintain their sanity despite their illusions.
So Azadin kept the dwarf Kalan who had high resistance to illusion the half-elf Legion and the original magician Bernard in reserve and kept the rest of the characters tied up at home.
“I’m worried about when I’ll have to let you go later.”
Then in the darkness of the night beautiful music began to be heard.
“It’s a beginning.”
A sweet floral scent wafts along with the music. And a young woman’s beautiful voice sings.
“Hey. Stop this nonsense and let’s talk!”
Azadin shouted shaking off the tricks of the Shade Hags who were trying to charm him.
But as if they haven’t figured out the mood yet they continue to sing and seduce me with their sweet voices.
“Play with us. We are nymphs of passion. We are flower petals ready to be soaked in the lust of hot-blooded men.”
Then the soldiers began to squirm enchanted by the beautiful voice and sweet scent.
“Ugh…..”
“I want to go out!”
But it was okay because everyone was tied tightly to the pole with ropes.
however….
“Eww!”
“Ah! No Countach!”
The Countach was the problem.
Countach broke the ropes that bound him and ran outside.
“Oh no! Countach! Listen to your sister! Those are hags!”
Camilla was flustered and tried to stop him but Countach just ran towards the hags who were singing sweet songs without any hesitation.
Camilla unable to bear it any longer took out her blackjack.
A weapon used by bandits to stun people with a flail a club with a sandbag attached to it.
Camilla swung the blackjack with all her might and struck her brother in the temple but Countach didn’t even faint from it. Instead he became even more excited and wild.
“Kuung!”
“Eww! Azadin! Help me!”
“There’s nothing we can do about it. Legion!”
“yes?!”
“You do it.”
“Understood. This is my chance to prove my loyalty Captain!”

Legion ran around like an animal in joy then transformed into a werewolf and attacked Countach.
Although Countach was strong the transformed Legion was even stronger and knocked Countach to the ground in an instant.
However it is not easy to subdue it without killing it even if Legion is a werewolf.
“Hey you half-orc! How can you be so strong?”
“Wow. Nymphs. Nymphs! Soft. Breasts.”
Countach nuzzled his head against Legion’s rough fur that was pressing against his body exclaiming that it was soft and then kissed him.
“Ugh. Stop it you punk. That’s not a nymph’s breasts that’s my dick…”
“….”
Azadin felt a headache coming on and he pressed his head against his chest.
Countach struggled and kissed Legion’s unspeakable parts thinking they were the breasts of a nymph.
“Crrrrrrr!”
“Ah we are so excited right now. Please cool our bodies my lord.”
“Anyone who is wrapped in the petals of nymphs will instantly experience pleasure.”
The hags imitated the nymphs provoking and mocking the fight between Legion and Countach.
“Even so isn’t it too much for a hag to impersonate a nymph? It won’t do.”
Azadin who thought he was not being understood aimed his bow at the sound of the voice.
“Don’t get hit.”
Azadin said so and fired an arrow towards the source of the voice.
-Wedge!
As the arrow flew through the wind a commotion arose in the distance.
“Huh?!”
The Hags now seemed to have realized that Azadin was immune to their charms.
“Let’s stop this nonsense and talk. I am Azadin the First Herald of the Emperor the Golden Herald of the Golden King Manza-Zadek and the Hospitaller-Erant of the Knights of the Salvation Order.”
“what?!”
“You are the Emperor’s messenger and a knight?”
Was it because of Azadin’s shocking self-introduction? Even the Hags were surprised.
“Hmm. I heard that the Shade Hags of the Chadra Plateau are god-like beings that can grant even the most impossible wishes but you didn’t know about me? They can’t be omnipotent after all.”
“….”
At that moment the atmosphere changed completely.
The sweet scent and the music and songs that pleased the ears disappeared and the stench of blood and filth terrible screams and the sound of scraping iron pots surrounded the surroundings.
Countach who had been causing a commotion while being bewitched by illusions only then came to his senses.
“Huh? Huh? Your nymphs?”
“What the nymph you little brat. Are you out of your mind?”
“I clearly saw a nymph’s breasts in front of me…”
“You idiot. That’s my…”
“Stop it. Wouldn’t it be better not to say that?”
Azadin stopped the legion.
Meanwhile the Hags’ voices lingered in the darkness wandering around Azadin in confusion.
“iced coffee….”
“Child. Child of the Herald Clan. I know you. I know you. We know you very well.”
“You know me well?”
“Yes. Your past present and future. We know everything.”
“You want me to believe you after seeing what I just did? Fine. I’ll just say you weren’t in good shape earlier and give you another chance. Show me the evidence.”
“Ah that’s very easy.”
The Shade Hags whispered excitedly to Azadin.
“The child born half-born has finally become whole. But you have lost half of your body so the price of becoming whole has been very high.”
Surprisingly as soon as the Shade Hags reveal their true colors they begin to speak as if they know Azadin’s past.
No. I’m sure you know.
‘I see that when you pretend to be a young beauty and lure men to eat you you don’t connect with that supernatural wisdom. But when you take the form of a witch you connect with it right?’
Azadin recognized the Shade Hags’ traits.
But apart from that it bothered me that they spoke as if they knew the details of his and Arael’s fate.
“You joined the Knights despite knowing that you were corrupted in preparation for the coming Age of Jupiter even though you lost the star of your heart. Hehe. Aren’t you curious about what kind of results that determination will bring?”
“Don’t you want to know the fate that awaits you? Come here child. Let us talk. We have prepared delicious food and beautiful women. This is paradise.”
“I agree with the idea of talking. What I’m curious about isn’t my future. Why did you keep killing the platoon leaders here?”
“Because that was the contract.”
“Is the woman who made that contract alive?”
“Of course. She is serving us.”
“She will soon become one with us. She has become our adopted daughter.”
The Shade Hags circled around Azadin as they spoke but Azadin fired arrows backwards without even looking.
-Pfft!
I couldn’t see it very well but I could hear a crashing sound.
“Ugh! This… bad! You’re such a bad kid!”
Surprisingly despite being hit by an arrow Shade Hag only scolds Azadin in a voice as if he were scolding a child or a dog.
If he had been hit by an arrow it would definitely not have been a minor injury.
“Speak only in front of me. Don’t turn back.”
“This…this guy! How!”
Azadin can see things without relying on his eyes and his field of vision is incredibly wide as Arael’s voice which replaces the Emperor’s scouts out his surroundings.
Even if you vaguely turned to the back because Azadin was looking ahead or moved with relief because the distance was far it was all in the palm of his hand.
“I see you got hit by an arrow. I feel a little sorry. But I won’t apologize. Instead let’s talk about the new recruit of the woman who asked you to kill the hospital workers you captured.”
“What?!”
“If you guys are holding her hand her over. If she’s alive we’ll rescue her. If she’s dead we’ll even collect her body.”
“I’m surprised. Are you saying that you didn’t come to us to beg for your life?”
“You guys can’t kill me.”
“!!!!!”
The Hags were taken aback by Azadin’s arrogant remark.
“What the….”
“You are only a human being!”
The Hags gnashed their teeth at Azadin.
But Azadin did not retract his remarks.
