    #234. Bishop Akenar 1

“So which side is Coxhalle on? Who doesn’t know?”

    “hmm….”

    Camilla shrugged.

“I’m from Coxhall but I don’t really know since I’ve been stuck in a carriage all this time.”

    “Sister. I know the way.”

    “Oh. Really?”

“Yeah. The place where the smell of the sea coxswain is. This way.”

    “…Absolutely not.”

Camilla waved her hands high above her head in denial.

“You’ve climbed a few strange mountain peaks before just because you said you knew the way! Just because you go in a straight line doesn’t mean you know the way!”

It didn’t look like we could trust the Countach to give us directions.

“I’m not from here either. I’m from Chitai.”

Blood Mage Bernard also shook his head while saying the same thing.

In the end by elimination it turned out that the only person who knew the way to Coxhall was Munjanggwan MacDougall.

    ‘This guy hates me openly.’

Azadin smiled at MacDougal and extended his hand.

    “Are you okay Sir MacDougal?”

Although Squire was not yet worthy of being called a sir Azadin deliberately called him sir.

“Of course I will guide you. But you go to the rear and get rid of that hideous commander. Shouldn’t you be considerate of the people passing by? And don’t give our knights the dishonor of being friends with a necromancer.”

    “That’s bullshit again.”

An angry Camilla tried to step forward but Azadin stopped her.

“No. That’s a fair point. We shouldn’t startle travelers on the road.”

“Who would be out and about at this hour of the night? Either a smuggler or a thief.”

Camilla was annoyed but backed down when Azadin tried to stop her.

“We must leave quickly. If we delay the enemy will prepare even more and come to catch us.”

Azadin said so and touched his waist.

Originally this was where the Moon Bow should have been inserted but Azadin currently has no bow. The Moon Bow got wet in the seawater when he was shipwrecked and was damaged.

When fighting the Northern Aragasa party the broken bow and flying fragments were a trap to deceive their eyes but in reality the bow’s lifespan had ended.

‘It was also a big deal that we forced ourselves to shoot from a long distance.’

The long-distance shooting that he had done due to his pride battle with Aragasa’s 1st Lieutenant Zan also put a lot of strain on his bow.

Although he only had a bow Aragatha Azadin felt like he was walking around naked without a bow.

As Azadin glanced at Zan Zan shook his head while touching his moon palace.

“Don’t give me the bow. I only have this one.”

    “Tch.”

“They’re going to attack again anyway so let’s take it then.”

    The storm foreshadowed an attack.

“I told you to look at it. If you just take him around like this you can get a lot of information…”

Azadin spoke to Camilla as if telling her to drink.

But then Bernard who was walking in front pointed to the sky.

“Wait a minute. Look over there.”

    “huh?”

    “The sky is on fire.”

    “…ah.”

Sure enough the sky in the distance was glowing red and black smoke was rising. A nearby village was under attack.

“Hmm. Humans would be in danger. I don’t know about the northern Aragatha but those guys were working with the Lizardmen and the Hobgoblin Mejeri Apostles. The Mejeri Apostles are hungry for human flesh and the Lizardmen are obsessed with the ritual of ripping out human hearts.”

Azadin saw the sight and rode on the ghost goat.

“I’ll go first and check the situation. Follow me.”

“Wait a minute! It could be a trap! Even if it wasn’t why are we sticking our heads into a place where there’s so much conflict when our noses are three feet away? If something happens to Lord Ismilla all the work we’ve done so far will go down the drain!”

    McDonald’s opposed it.

“Isn’t the mission of a rescue worker to rescue those in need?”

“By what authority do you speak of the mission of the Knights of Salvation? I am doing this for the sake of the future of the Knights.”

“I am more qualified to comment on the mission of a rescuer than you think.”

    “yes?!”

Azadin was appointed by Sir Planck of Wisdom.

Sir Planck is one of only three knights of virtue in the Order of the Knights of Salvation. He is the highest rank in the Order of the Knights of Salvation.

Since he appointed Azadin as a knight wouldn’t he be fully qualified to speak to Azadin about the mission of a rescue knight?

‘It’s legally ambiguous since it’s a posthumous statement and I’m the only witness.’

However from his childhood Azadin read and memorized the tales and scriptures of the Knights of Salvation more faithfully than any other knight.

Even after losing all the stars the object of longing still remained in Azadin’s heart. There was not a single lie in the faith of the Rescue Knights.

“Oh okay. I’ll go first so follow me.”

Azadin left those words behind and sent the ghost goat running.

As the ghost goat galloped ahead at a truly frightening speed Azadin’s figure disappeared into the distance in an instant.

    *********

The Lizardmen were originally a civilized tribe that established and lived in their own country. As a vassal state of the Naga Empire they occupied a part of the Kurt Pantheon and were once civilized and intelligent beings who studied all kinds of magic.

However in the war with the Yaegas their god the Heart-Eater Akunkal lost his body and was banished from the world.

As the gods were banished and their protection was lost the intellect of the lizardmen also began to deteriorate.

Sorcerers who can cast spells are rare and most are born as bloodthirsty beasts.

    Naturally their country also perished.

The Lizardmen swore vengeance on the Yaegas and split into tribes but when they gathered together and gained power they were often consumed by a religious desire to offer sacrifices to their gods.

These lizardmen hired by the Northern Qi Cohen Lione were also like that.

Hired as mercenaries they attacked the pilgrims under strict military discipline. However after attacking the pilgrims but failing to capture the target of the attack the pilgrim knight Izmila the commanding staff stayed here for a while while waiting for instructions from their superiors.

Given that time the Lizardmen could not control their religious fervor(?) and raided civilian villages to obtain their hearts.

The place that was attacked by the lizardmen was a farming village near Coxhall.

The village had a vigilante group to keep out bandits and there were night watchmen hired by local lords and knights but they were no better than paper dolls in the face of the Lizardmen’s attacks who had excellent fighting skills.

In an instant the vigilantes were annihilated and the village began to burn.

The lizardmen captured the villagers and built a makeshift altar in the middle of the village square by piling up the village furniture. They wrote Akunkal’s name in the blood of the victims and offered prayers on the altar.

“Oh. Akunkal! Please come back again I offer you a fresh heart!”

“Your warrior walks the path of a warrior! He will glorify the name of Akunkal and fill your belly with the hearts of countless enemies!”

Lizardmen priests and warriors stood in front of the altar cheering and dragging the peasants to the altar. One peasant who was already on the verge of death from the lizardmen’s fiercely thrust claws was thrown onto the altar.

The farmer had already lost an eye when a lizardman’s claw gouged his face and the thorns tore through his skin as he was thrown onto an altar made of broken furniture.

The Lizardman warrior spread his arms wide to make his large body look even bigger.

A huge membrane spreads across the arms and torso and the feathers that grow behind it glow in a variety of colors in the light of the burning farm.

The lizardman swung the huge hooked sword he was holding the kopesh and struck the farmer in the neck.

    -Pfft!

Blood spurted out and heavy chunks of flesh fell out.

    “Kwaaak!”

But it was the lizardmen who were screaming.

There was a longsword stuck in the ground. Someone had thrown the longsword and cut off the lizardman’s arm.

    “Oh my god…..”

The one who threw the blade was a figure riding on a large ghostly mountain goat. As soon as Azadin arrived at the village he quickly threw his sword and cut off the lizardman’s arm.

“What are you guys doing now?”

    “Krrrrrr.”

The Lizardman warrior picked up his arm from the ground in anger. Then he placed it against the wound.

You might think that it would not stick but surprisingly when the lizardman warlock chanted a spell a light appeared from the wound and the severed arm was reattached.

    “and.”

Azadin had already seen the regenerative powers of the Nagas but the regenerative powers of the Lizardmen which allowed them to immediately reattach their severed arms were even greater. He could feel a truly powerful green magic power coming from them.

    “It won’t be easy.”

Azadin jumped down from the ghost goat and landed.

    “That guy…..”

    “Kill him!”

The lizardmen holding the Kopesh charge at Azadin while roaring.

The charge of the lizardmen their feathers raised in anger was so powerful that it made your legs tremble just by looking at them. However Azadin easily broke through those lizardmen.

-The land spider of flowers birds wind and moon!

It wasn’t Kazas’ magic it was real magic.

Azadin’s figure disappeared and he moved behind the lizardmen.

The surprised Lizardman swung his Kopesh and tried to hit Azadin behind him but Azadin grabbed the Lizardman’s arm.

Using the Lizardman’s strength against him Azadin coolly threw down an opponent who seemed heavier than himself and snatched the khopesh from his hand.

    -Pfft!

The lizardmen that had been rushing at Azadin had their throats cut off and their feathers flew.

The lizardmen charged forward unconcerned about whether their comrades would be attacked or not but Azadin to his annoyance deftly parried their attacks and absorbed their attacks with his amazing swordsmanship.

They would deflect their attacks like reeds blowing against the strong wind and counterattack. When they felt like they were being surrounded they would use the magic of flowers birds and the moon to change positions.

Azadin picked up the ceramite longsword he had thrown earlier from the ground and together with Kopesh swung it as a pair of swords slashing at the approaching lizardmen.

It was like a scene from an old tale.

A hero who rushes to rescue people in a moment of crisis defeats enemies one by one with amazing swordsmanship.

The villagers who had just been nearly killed by the lizardmen were moved by the sight.

But then didn’t Azadin suddenly stop his sword and make a strange expression?

It was hard to see his expression because his face was hidden by the mask but he looked like something wasn’t going his way.

    “ah!”

    “please!”

The villagers who watched this felt their hearts sink.

Are you tired? Or is there something wrong with the weapon you’re using?

Whatever happens if that man gets hurt the lives of all the villagers are over.

It was a time when they all supported Azadin with one mind and one heart.
