Night of the Soulless Heathens – 220

#220. Herald of Destruction 5
For Aragasa strength is everything.
No it’s not just Aragasa’s story.
Those without power are not respected. Wasn’t this something Azadin had personally felt since his days as a helpless and cursed boy?
But the strength I had built up throughout my life has now become useless.
Azadin’s power was to awaken the unrefined and imperfect power of the Flower Bird and Moon within himself transforming it into pure physical ability and using that martial arts to implement the assassination magic of the Flower Bird and Moon.
Now that my body is damaged I can’t use Kajas. It’s questionable whether I’ll even be able to carry out my daily life.
Are you saying that you killed the person you loved the most intervened in your clan’s civil war caused many people to die and ended up becoming a wreck?
It’s so horrible.
Indim continued to tell Azadin the story as he turned his head away from this terrible reality.
“We are taking refuge on a boat. We are moving inland to avoid the Nagas. We will go up the river and head towards Banreung.”
“What about Btuma?”
“Btuma is stabilizing. Hathir is dead and the Senate has collapsed. Of course the Five Great Clans and their Chambers remain so the clans may regroup around them but for now we have won.”
“Victory…?”
“Yes. The damage is significant but strategically we’ve placed Arael’s Grimoire on the throne and destroyed the Senate. However… there’s something we need to clean up after that.”
Indim raised his body.
Although tall enough to be considered a man the muscular body and prominent breasts revealed that Indim was in fact a woman.
Surprisingly Indim had taken off his clothes and was warming Azadin with his own body heat.
Isn’t that what Indim says to Azadin?
“I need your body.”
“….”
Indim quickly put on his clothes and lifted Azadin up. Azadin whose body had not recovered could not resist.
‘What on earth are you trying to do? Right now I’m not worth killing. I’ve already thrown the Shinwangjinseo into Btuma’s throne so there’s nothing left to gain?’
That question was soon answered.
A large magic circle was drawn on the dock and Arael and the four members of Hwajopungwol were waiting there.
No… I should say there were four characters.

Of the four members of Hwajopungwol only Indim Seraph and Dimia survived.
It’s amazing that three out of four survived but their servants and Dimia’s younger sister Zenith were nowhere to be seen.
“Azadin. My brother. Are you awake?”
Arael looked back at Azadin.
“Dimia and Indim kept you warm with their body heat for a week. I was worried you’d die but you’re alive. That’s a relief.”
“…Arael.”
Azadin frowned at Arael.
Both of her legs were amputated and tied with tourniquets.
Azadin became a wreck but so did Arael. That’s why both Azadin and Arael had Dimia and Indim naked for a whole week to share their body heat to raise their body temperature.
As for Azadin he must have been in a coma for a whole week since he has no recollection of it at all.
‘Is that smart Arael a wreck? But… no she’s in a better situation than me.’
Arael was in better shape than Azadin.
Unlike Kazatha’s sword which is actually a martial art rather than magic Arael’s sword is real magic so even if her legs are cut off she can still fight.
But if you lose that much body you won’t be able to exert the same strength as before. Your remaining lifespan will probably be shortened significantly as well.
“The legs…..”
“The price for destroying the Senate. The Senate is now destroyed. The Five Great Bloodlines remain but I think it was a cheap price to pay.”
Arael changed his words to the Senate saying that Aragasa had been destroyed and smiled bitterly.
“Didn’t the Senate and you say that you would rule over other peoples and make them rich and powerful even if you had to massacre and exploit them? But as a result of your internal strife Aragasa is in decline. Isn’t that embarrassing?”
“I have no regrets. You were the one who stopped the actions of the Senate’s Hathir weren’t you Azadin? Then you must know that we have more legitimacy than the Senate. That’s why you fought on our side right?”
“I don’t remember being on your side. Of course I’m grateful for the treatment but… What should I do now? I lost my leg… And my body is in terrible condition.”
Arael was supposed to be the goddess of the battlefield.
The Arael tribe is maintained because of her charisma. Arael was able to maintain her charisma among the Aragasa because she was beautiful and strong.
It’s not just among the Aragasa that if you’re not strong you’re not respected.
Even among the Yaegas gods and kings there is a custom where if you have a physical defect you lose your right to the throne. Even if Arael still has some abilities as a magician if she doesn’t have both legs she can’t be a leader.
“Arael are you going to give up all your ambitions and live a normal life in seclusion? That wouldn’t be so bad. You could at least take care of me…”
“No. If we can’t fight Aragasa will die. And in fact both you and I have lost a lot of blood and our lives are in danger. But Azadin do you know that?”
“What?”
“Brothers can share blood with each other? The probability is even higher if they are twins.”
“….”
Azadin looked at the magic circle. Then he examined the faces of the remaining figures of the Flower Bird and Moon.
Seraph and Aleph were brothers. Dimia and Zenith were also sisters.
Only one of these two survived and surprisingly he is in good condition. If Arael lost both her legs it must have been a struggle for them too.
“no way?”
Azadin looked closely at the magic circle drawn on the floor again. He could not use magic but he could read the Nether language having assisted Kazas when he was learning Nether magic and interpreting the language.
The magic circle written here now is the magic of the Nether.
“What are you thinking?”
“I told you so?”

Indim approached picked up Azadin and placed him on the magic circle.
Azadin stood motionless on the magic circle then fell unable to control his body.
“Become Arael’s flesh and blood.”
“You guys… did you absorb your brother? Are you crazy…!”
“Everyone did it because they wanted to!”
Seraph protested thus.
“Otherwise… how could I have let my brother Aleph die! But rather than both of them dying someone had to live!”
“That… that.”
That makes sense but Azadin shook his head.
“No. That’s ridiculous! Arael! I was already robbed of everything by you since I was born! Even the magic book that was Aragasa’s birthright! Even my eyes! And now you’re trying to take my life away from me? That’s too much!”
“Right? But Azadin. I can’t live like this.”
Arael cast a spell. The magic circle began to glow and activate.
Arael cast a very complex magic that mixed the evil magic of the Nether necromancy and green magic that governed life.
Azadin’s gaze was momentarily drawn to the complex magics.
‘No it’s more like my body won’t listen to me. I can’t help but look at it.’
There was nothing I could do but watch.
Arael activated the magic circle took the cane in place of her severed legs and flew into the magic circle.
however….
Dimia Seraph and Indim were startled as they watched.
“Arael!?”
“what….”
“What are you doing?!”
Arael grabbed the motionless Azadin and placed his head on her lap resting it on her thigh where the tourniquet was tied and the knee was torn.
“We were born on the same day and at the same time but come to think of it we didn’t really have much to talk about little brother.”
“Who is your younger sibling? Me…..”
Azadin tried to protest but suddenly his eyes met with Arael’s who was looking down at him.
Arael was looking down at Azadin with longing and affectionate eyes as if looking at someone she truly loved.
It’s the same expression Aldis had when he looked at Azadin as a child.
Azadin was taken aback by her appearance. Could Arael have made such an expression?
“Azadin. Were you suffering from not being loved?”
“what?”
“That’s ridiculous. Don’t you think it’s the world’s worst that men suffer because they can’t be the object of desire and women suffer because they become the object of desire?”
“What are you talking about Arael?”
He asked like that but sadly he already understood what Arael was saying.
A man cannot be an object of desire.
Unless a man is wealthy powerful or exceptionally handsome it is rare for a woman to desire him.
On the other hand even if a woman’s looks are lacking someone still wants her.
But is it all fun?
Not at all.
It is very likely that you will become a being whose fate is trampled by the desires of others.
But why am I telling you this story now?
“You were in pain too? Are you trying to say that you were in pain because you were so popular that you couldn’t control it?”
Of course Azadin is not stupid.
From the story that the leader Hatir had taken interest in Arael’s exceptional birth and tried to embrace her he already knew that Arael was not the simple talented person he had thought but rather a being whose body and soul were threatened under the order of the Senate.
Arael had to constantly prove her power and necessity in order to protect herself.
Nevertheless when she came of age she would have to become Hathir’s concubine against her will and bear children as the evil wizards of the Senate desired.
And perhaps Hatir was the ancestor of Azadin and Arael and if we trace the genealogy Azadin and Arael were also descendants of Hatir.
That sounds terrible.
If Azadin was persecuted because he was powerless…
Arael was a talented and beautiful woman and was considered to be of very good bloodline.
How much suffering would the young girl have to endure if such a fate were to befall her in Aragasa’s already harsh life?
however….
Azadin didn’t want to understand the inside story.
If you understand that who would cherish the younger version of yourself who was hurt and bullied by Arael and even thought about suicide?
Does that mean that everyone has to understand Arael’s every wound and even Azadin himself who was abused by Arael has to understand her?
Don’t make me laugh!
If that’s the case then Azadin from his childhood would be so pitiful!
Azadin refused to understand Arael’s past.
