Night of the Soulless Heathens – 209

#209. Even if I lose my light 4
‘It’s tremendous power!’
Even for the Herald Clan who were accustomed to casting spells on arrows it was a magic of tremendous power.
“I really…..”
Where the arrow had been fired a young woman from the Herald Clan was standing. She had long black hair purple eyes and was tall like a goddess statue.
“Ah Arael!?”
“Yes that’s right.”
The messengers realized that the arrow that had just flown in was Arael’s.
Indeed Arael has such abilities that she dares to rebel against the Senate. And what’s more she has the audacity to show up in this situation.
‘You really showed up to save the person who was captured by Naga? How cool. Even though he’s an enemy he’s still dignified and beautiful.’
‘That’s great.’
In this way the messengers were amazed by Arael’s beauty and majestic appearance.
*********
Of course Arael had no intention of saving them.
But Azadin was the first to fire an arrow at the Nagas.
Indim who already considered Azadin a thorn in his side was indignant at Azadin’s unilateral action without seeking the understanding of those acting together but Arael quickly gave an order.
“Fire cover!”
“Huh? Ah!”
As Arael’s men including Indim reluctantly provided cover fire to Azadin the Nagas fell like fallen autumn leaves.
The Naga casters sent out undead to form a barrier to block the rain of arrows but Azadin rushed in and charged the Naga casters.
“Krrrrr!”
As the Nagas tried to block them with their spears and bone spears Azadin swung his Azure Steel axe the Blue Executioner.
Blue phosphorescence flashed and the limbs of the Nagas shot into the sky.
“Ugh!”
But Azadin’s attack was too big and flashy. The spear axe swung so large like a windmill that it left an opening.
‘this!’

This axe was much sharper than Azadin had expected.
The Blue Executioner is enchanted and with the magic power it absorbs from Azadin it pushes away anything it touches to the left and right around the blade.
It is a magical axe that causes terrible wounds with just a brush without blood or flesh sticking to it.
Azadin who was using it for the first time in a real match was also taken aback by the unexpected taste.
“Now is the time!”
Taking advantage of that opening Nagadari stabbed Azadin with his spear. But at that moment Azadin let go of the hand that was holding the Qing executioner.
Azadin’s hand moved naturally along the leather strap attached to the end of the axe.
Azadin shook his body violently and swung the Qing executioner by the leather strap.
The heads of the Nagas that rushed in were cut off with a blue glow drawn in an even larger trajectory than when he first swung it.
‘I swung it by the leather strap instead of the handle and it broke bones! It consumes some magic power but it’s a really great weapon isn’t it?’
And yet with strength left the spinning axe cutting through the air is sucked into Azadin’s hand and caught.
The sight of Naga and the undead being swept away like autumn leaves with just two swings was enough to tire out the Nagas and even the messenger clan members who were watching.
Furthermore while Azadin was holding the line Arael casted a powerful spell and slew the flesh-serpents of the Nether that the Nagas had summoned.
As a result we were able to save the people without causing much damage and only using up some arrows.
However the four members of Hwajopungwol were indignant at Azadin for carrying out the rescue operation without permission.
“This kid! Do whatever he wants!”
Indim was about to jump at Azadin but Arael stopped him.
“There are still clans left.”
Arael asked the messengers who were watching the situation from the rear without coming forward like the Nagas.
“Okay. What are you guys going to do?”
“we are….”
These were the people who vomited while watching the scene of humans being slaughtered. Then when the beautiful Arael acted arrogantly and confidently they could not help but be overwhelmed by her dignity.
Moreover Arael’s skills were so great that even those within her clan who had not seen her in person knew that she had terrifying abilities and was called a living goddess.
“I’ll pretend not to know Arael.”
“Would you believe me if I just said it? Give me an arrow.”
When Arael asked the messengers threw their quivers to Arael. Arael and his men who had already wasted their arrows shooting at the Nagas took the quiver.
“The treatment is different.”
Ismail chuckled at the sight.
If Azadin had stepped forward and taken action he might have been hostile to them even if it was an act of trying to save people.
However when the beautiful and famous Arael used her high-level magic of flowers birds wind and moon to take the initiative everyone looked at Arael with eyes of admiration.
It was a possible reaction because she was a beauty and had a reputation as a skilled person among the messenger clan.
Azadin also understood why Ismail was saying that and smiled bitterly.
“It’s better to avoid fights.”
“And yet weren’t you the one who started the fight? It was a fight you could have avoided.”
Ismail said so but he kept his mouth shut as he watched Azadin pick up the child’s swaddle from the floor.
Azadin returned the child to his mother who was trembling with shock just before he was executed.
“Okay get out of here quickly.”

“Euuuuuuuu.”
The woman lifted the child as if snatching it away then backed away from Azadin trembling. The fear of death and the shock of the brutal slaughter shook her body to the depths of her soul.
“Ungrateful guys who don’t even say thank you!”
Aleph of the Wind approached Azadin getting annoyed.
“They think that the Nagawa and Jeonryong clan are allies who have joined hands. They probably don’t understand the current situation.”
“So you acted as you pleased because of these ungrateful people?”
“Don’t worry too much. There wasn’t much damage on our side right? If you can save a life with a little effort it’s not bad.”
“They are the people of Hybris. If we were in danger they would have thrown stones at us instead.”
“When you were young did you ever have delusions that your mother was actually trying to kill you or something like that?”
“what?”
“I think I have a habit of torturing myself by interpreting things that didn’t happen in a negative way.”
“This kid… I’m a higher level than you and yet you dare say something like that!?”
The four members of Hwajopungwol were higher in rank than Azadin and were actually older.
The Aragasas the messenger clan had a tradition of caring about the hierarchy of such longevity so Azadin’s provocation worked better.
Azadin still didn’t like Arael’s party but they were the few people he could rely on right now and there was no point in upsetting them.
“Yes. I’m sorry I did that without saying anything. It wasn’t proper procedure. I apologize.”
“It’s easy for this kid to apologize with words.”
The four members of Hwajopungwol were already displeased with Azadin but they seemed determined to seize this opportunity. However this was not the time to do so.
The nagas on the spire far away noticed the strange phenomenon and blew their conch whistles.
-Phew!
The sound is loud.
“Damn it! I got caught!?”
“You didn’t get caught because you were doing useless things!”
“No it would have been caught anyway if we had come this far. There are a lot of foresights and magic is also applied.”
“You’re talking nonsense! It’s your fault!”
The four members of Hwajopungwol were indignant at Azadin’s witty attitude but they had no choice but to move quickly before the enemies swarmed in.
*********
Azadin and Arael’s group moved onto Btuma’s building.
The highly mobile messenger clan could run on the rooftops of buildings as if they were flat ground so even when the undead or the outcasts rushed in there were only a few who could block their advance.
The problem was the messenger clan. Before long Btuma’s terrain analysis was complete and the messenger clan was stationed at every strategic point for infiltration.
However there was no messenger clan to block Azadin’s path. They fired arrows without sincerity and when Azadin’s party approached they retreated appropriately to avoid clashes. They were blatantly sabotaging the work.
“It’s good that they don’t block it. But why do they do that?”
When Azadin asked Seraph shrugged.
“Because Arael’s reputation is so high. Even though he joined the Senate he probably doesn’t want to stand in Arael’s way.”
Azadin felt suspicious as he looked at Seraph like that.
‘This guy used to say things like I’m young and of low status but he always speaks politely to Arael.’
There was no conversation at all with the four members of the Flower Bird and Moon group who had absolute loyalty to Arael. Whatever they said always ended up expressing their loyalty and affection for Arael.
Arael who was listening said.
“We all agreed to take the throne and usurp the kingdom but we didn’t know that it would lead to joining hands with the Nagas to massacre the people and summon the Nether’s messengers. Regardless of their hatred or discord with the Hybrisians no one wants to burn and destroy the world.”
“Then it would be good to purge the leader.”
“That’s hard.”
“Why? I’ve lived in the sanctuary and barely seen the leader.”
Azadin had been Kazas’ disciple for over ten years but during that time he had only seen the leader a handful of times.
Why does Hathir the leader have such great influence when he is a recluse and has not been involved in the affairs of Aragatha much?
“Because he is the one who supplies the blood of the gods to the Aragasas.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Most of the elders have lived to be over a hundred years old yet they still look young. Do you know why? It’s because they all inherit the blood of the leader Hatir and the blood of Emperor Yaeslat.”
“What is that… are you sure?”
“Yes. That’s why I rebelled. Since I was born with an extraordinary birth he told me to give birth to a child for the leader Hatir. It was as if he was doing me a favor.”
Just talking about it made Arael shiver as the nightmare from that day came back to her.
“what?”
Azadin was surprised to hear that.
If Arael’s birth was extraordinary then Azadin could also be said to be extraordinary. However this is a story that Azadin has never heard of before.
“When are you talking about the enemy?”
“This is a story from when we were young before I hurt you.”
“like that….”
Azadin was shocked as he looked back at his past memories.
Are you saying that such stories were openly told to Arael and Azadin when they were young?
“I don’t want to be a livestock. And probably many of the children of my clan who are born in the future don’t want to be treated like livestock either. So from then on I’ve been preparing for rebellion.”
As Arael spoke he suddenly looked at his subordinates.
“Oh. This is a long and pointless story. Let’s continue. We must approach the throne as quickly as possible while the clansmen are busy. Even Hathir has not yet recovered the strength he expended to seize the throne.”
Arael said that and then looked back at Azadin. It looked like she was about to say something but she gave up and moved forward.
‘What? Are you asking me to understand that something complicated happened when you were young? But….’
Azadin was confused when he heard that Arael was also suffering in a place he had no idea about.
