Night of the Soulless Heathens – 208

#208. Even if I lose my light 3
Seraph and Aleph answer Azadin’s question as if they had been waiting for it. Judging by the speed of their answers it seems they were really hoping for that question to be asked.
“The Senate and their leader Hathir are trying to ruin this world. It’s the typical behavior of a devil who has lived too long and has given up on the world.”
“On the other hand Arael wants to rule the world without destroying it. If you are going to rule the world wouldn’t it be better to rule it in a completely safe and secure manner with more slaves to gain more power?”
“Ah stop. That’s it.”
Azadin heard them and felt that he had asked for nothing.
‘I should have just let him talk instead of asking. I asked for nothing. The answer wasn’t even that good.’
After hearing that answer my curiosity was completely quenched and my interest disappeared.
“So the position of the leader Hatir and the Senate is that it’s okay to tear the world apart because the number of Aragas who will have to eat it anyway is small while Arael wants to eat the world intact. Oh how can you think at that level?”
“There is a misunderstanding.”
Arael stepped forward to correct Azadin’s words.
“Nana Hatir and Aragasa agree that they want to make it so that no one can oppress them. However the leader Hatir is worried that Aragasa’s population will eventually melt away to the Hybris because of its small population. He thought that Aragasa could not be protected unless he suppressed the Hybris and reduced their numbers so he did such a crazy thing. On the other hand I will accept it even if the Aragasa people eventually disappear. The important thing is that we live in peace now. I will not refuse if we can merge and disappear peacefully. That is why I have no intention of killing the Hybris people for no reason.”
“If you’re going to use them as slaves there’s no reason to kill them pointlessly.”
“Slavery is not that effective. It is better to squeeze people by making them work hard and barely earning enough to live on in terms of motivation and human resource management.”
“….”
“Azadin. I know you don’t trust me but at least I don’t intend to ruin the world like Hathir. The Age of Jupiter is out of my control. You know that well don’t you? You may want to doubt me because of the past when I tormented you but if you put your hand on your heart and think about it there is no better alternative than what I am proposing. In fact before I made you my offer you were planning to collect copies of the Book of the New Kings and shove them into the throne by yourself right? Isn’t that right?”
“okay.”
Azadin raised both his hands. Should I say he raised both arms since one hand was blown away?
“Don’t. Do. Do.”
Thus the alliance between Azadin and Arael was established.
*********
Although the tribe of Arael had fallen Arael was still powerful and the loyalty of its subordinates remained.
Above all since there were quite a lot of people supplies were abundant.
“Okay then let’s put this arm together Captain.”
Scott brought in a hand that had been embalmed and covered in wax. I don’t know where he got it but it was in pretty good condition.
He puts it in the gauntlet tightens it up to Azadin’s elbow and casts a spell so that Azadin’s hand moves according to his will.

“It’s amazing. Not only is it moving but the hallucinations have also been reduced. But is it necromancy?”
“No. This is a magical tool that moves with colorless magic.”
“hmm?”
“In the case of the captain you infused the white magic of the New King’s Book into his body right? Because of that if you move with the necromancy you might clash with the black magic.”
“That’s amazing.”
Azadin was impressed by Scott’s attention to detail.
Since he is a necromancer he probably just wanted to move by necromancy but isn’t it true that he created this purely for Azadin taking into account his detailed circumstances?
“I see you’re good at regular magic too?”
“There’s that too and moving with colorless magic is also good for relieving phantom pain. However you may feel itchiness or a burning sensation but that’s….”
“I’ll take care of it.”
Shati cast a spell on Azadin. Minor wounds regenerate and the pain in his limbs subsides.
Azadin accepted their help with admiration.
“thank you.”
“So Captain can I stop here?”
“….”
“I feel like I’ll die if I go in there any more. I like the captain but I’m a mercenary after all.”
“Me too please.”
Shati also asked Azadin.
“Okay thank you for your hard work.”
Azadin allowed Scott and Shati to leave and searched through his saddlebags for gold coins.
Scott and Shati were so devoted that he generously gave them all the gold he had.
“This is a reward for your dedication. I’m sorry I can’t give you more.”
“Well to this extent he is incredibly kind. As expected from a leader.”
“Then I wish you continued success. Azadin.”
Shati sighed as she received the gold coin from Azadin.
“I wish I could see you alive again.”
I never thought I would be saying something like that to Azadin.
Shati sincerely hoped for Azadin’s victory so she decided to use the most powerful magic she knew.
“Azadin. Forehead.”
“….”
As Azadin silently placed his forehead against hers Shati cast a spell on Azadin’s forehead.
“What is the order?”
Azadin asked having been cast upon by a green magic spell he was not familiar with.
“It’s a blessing spell. It’s a little spell to meet again alive.”
After saying those words Shati withdrew.
“So Shati. Where are you going?”
Scott asks her.

“I don’t know. Should I go back to Nagadeul?”
“Didn’t Nagaraja who was close to the captain say he would exempt you from punishment?”
“It’s probably because I thought I was destined to die with Azadin so I did him a favor. I knew this would happen. But I don’t know if he’ll forgive me if I come back alive.”
“Hmm are you saying that all those Nagarajas aren’t ashamed to say two things with one mouth? Then let’s become Cell Swords with me. It’s a little dangerous but we can take a boat and head towards the Namhae Archipelago or we can go up the coast and head towards Tarasar. I heard that Tarasar is gathering a lot of mercenaries right now.”
“okay.”
Shati and Scott left planning their next move.

“Can we let them go? One is leaving and the other is an orc necromancer.”
Arael asked Azadin.
“They are not the kind of people who would betray others.”
“Hmm. You seem pretty trustworthy.”
“Of course I believe it. I saw endless emptiness and resignation in the eyes of Chief Hathir. It would be foolish to deal with someone like that. Scott may be a jerk but he’s not stupid.”
“Well since you’re like that I guess so. How are your hands?”
Whew.
At that moment an arrow flew splitting Arael’s hair.
Azadin quickly fired an arrow. It was extremely rude to shoot an arrow at a person’s head but Arael turned her head without blinking and followed the arrow Azadin fired with her eyes.
“joy….”
The arrow hit a bird flying far behind her.
It was not a normal bird but the corpse of a bird with an observation spell and the moment it was hit by the arrow it fell down emitting black smoke.
It was an accurate shot but Azadin’s expression was not good.
“It’s not perfect after all. I tried to make eye contact but I hit the wing.”
To most people this would be praiseworthy skill but it was not satisfactory to Azadin.
“I don’t know if it’s the head or the neck but wings? That’s serious.”
Arael also agreed with Azadin’s opinion.
Even though it’s a hand made by Scott it’s obviously not better than my original body.
“I should be thankful that I can shoot a bow even though my hand was blown off. But what about Grimslow’s club?”
“I heard that the Cheonggeun Party took it. I heard it directly from Amun-Zadek.”
“I see. That’s a weapon specifically designed to subdue people without killing them…”
Azadin lamented the absence of his club. Even in this situation he did not want to kill his own people.
“Then should we start moving? It seems like they’ve figured out our location too.”
Was it because Azadin shot his bow and brought down the bird?
Birds began to flock to the sky.
The corpses and foresight magics used to scout out the area where the bird disappeared begin to closely observe the area.
It’s okay for now but if you keep doing this you’ll get caught before long.
*********
Already Bthuma was filled with traces of the King of Tides the Nether’s messenger served by the Nagas.
Aquatic plants grow on the ground and waves and seawater surge in to soak the buildings.
The buildings of Btuma which had once shone in gold with the addition of yellow lacquer had become ruins with their exteriors peeling off and ugly moss and weeds growing over them.
And throughout the city the screams of the Btuma residents who had not been able to evacuate could be heard.
“Please save me!”
“A child!”
The Nagas were catching living humans and driving them somewhere.
Behind them there were already corpses lying on the chopping boards their heads cut off and their entrails ripped out like fish in a fish market. Hideous monsters made by extracting human blood and flesh were writhing among them.
They were making mummies out of human bones and entrails and lumping them together to form the Nether.
“…I didn’t know you would be so diligent in keeping your promises to the Nagas.”
The messenger clan frowned at the sight.
No matter how much you hate the Hybris the Heralds were also human. It was disgusting to see Naga slaughtering humans and turning them into monsters.
The young messenger could not hold back his nausea and even vomited.
“Hold on. You idiot. You vomited because you saw a dead body. And you’re still a messenger?”
“But that’s true…..”
“The leader said that we need the Naga Empire until we have all eight thrones. They have become tainted by the cult of the Nether so let them do what they need to do.”
The old messenger tried to console the young messenger but his expression was not very bright. If he had a bright expression in this situation he would have been even stranger.
Meanwhile a woman holding a baby was dragged out by the men and thrown onto a large wooden chopping board.
The Nagas stuck out their tails tied her hands and feet and raised their large glaives into the sky.
The baby’s crying echoes everywhere.
“….”
The young messenger turned his head away unable to bear to look at the sight.
however….
-Wedge!
An arrow flew with a crackling sound through the wind and pierced the neck of the Naga holding the glaive.
The giant Naga’s body staggers as the arrow cuts off its cervical vertebrae and its glaive falls to the ground.
“…?!”
At the same time fierce arrows rained down and struck the Nagas.
As the surprised Nagas raised the half-made mummies and held them up as arrow shields this time arrows of blue light flew.
-The wind and moon are clear and bright and the cranes are yellow!
As the arrow drew a circle at the height of the mummies’ heads a blue halo appeared and the heads of the mummies caught in the halo exploded.
