#196. Golden King 2
Azadin was taken aback by the hideous appearance of the Manza-Zadek but tried not to show it.
“First of all congratulations on your son Heaven. Haha. It’s really talented to have a grown son come to you and help you grow up.”
“I am embarrassed.”
“Yes. What’s the point of having an audience at this time? I’m grateful as I’ve heard that you’ve recently plundered some of your wealth to help defend the city.”
Manja-Zadek rolled his eyes as he ate the grapes that the concubines had picked for him. The yellow eyes like those of a giant beast glared at him and even the brave Azadin felt fear aversion and disgust.
Is this the Golden King of Bthuma?
Already accustomed to the Golden King’s unconventional appearance Cheonju Kazas spoke skillfully.
“It is none other than Your Majesty. My son a humble man wishes to serve Your Majesty by using even his dull talents so please give him a lowly position.”
Even if Azadin gave advice on the defense of the city there was no reason for the king to listen to him. That was why the Lord of the Qing Dynasty made this request to have Azadin join the Manja-Zadek army.
“Let’s stop being so pretentious. Aren’t the people here tight-lipped anyway?”
Manza-Zadek smiled and looked back at Azadin.
“I heard you’re a messenger clan. Raise your head. Let’s talk comfortably.”
“yes.”
Azadin looked up at Manza-Zadek’s words knowing that he was a messenger.
“So. Which side do you belong to?”
“I’m sorry but if you ask where I am….”
“Azadin. Your sister is the traitor Arael so why did you contact me through the Blue House? Do you not share the same views as Arael? Then are you on the Senate side?”
“….”
Azadin was taken aback by Manza-Zadek’s reaction who knew much more about the Herald Clan than he had thought. And judging by the way he spoke wasn’t he already in collusion with Arael?
“You already knew about my actions. And you were already in contact with Arael.”
“Btuma is a wealthy place. The gold here can even command ghosts. There is no way that the young girl Arael would have rebelled on her own relying only on her own skills without any support. There must have been someone who provided the funds. That person is me.”
Although Manja-Zadek had become so ugly that his flesh seemed to be flowing out he must have been a beautiful and strong being in his youth just like the portrait hanging in front of him.
“So where do you belong? The Senate? Or a traitor?”
At that moment a sharp murderous intent poured down on Azadin. The powerful men hiding in the Manza-Zadek throne room would attack all at once at the king’s word.
Azadin had already figured out that this audience room was full of powerful figures who had hidden themselves to protect the king’s voluminous body.

‘Amazing. I thought he was just crazy but he’s surprisingly smart. Is he really the Golden King?’
Azadin was impressed by Manza-Zadek’s sharp reactions and honestly confessed his inner feelings.
“I am simply trying to alleviate the suffering of the people. That is the Emperor’s law and the mission of the herald.”
“Hahaha. That’s a fun answer. If that’s what you really mean then you’re a really funny person.”
Manza-Zadek suddenly burst into laughter at Azadin’s answer.
“The Herald Clan that assassinated the Emperor will abide by the Emperor’s laws. It seems they are still keeping it a secret from the new Heralds. The Herald Clan.”
“yes?”
“If you have a brain think about it. You little brat of the Herald Clan. How could a powerful emperor who single-handedly took all eight quartz thrones suddenly fall without a successor? Surely you don’t believe the nonsense that he died from illness and weakness?”
Manja-Zadek burst into laughter as he spoke then coughed and choked. The concubines brought wet towels and carefully wiped away the saliva and food debris flowing out of Manja-Zadek’s mouth.
Azadin was shocked by the sight which seemed more like brushing livestock than treating people.
But Manza-Zadek’s words were more shocking than his appearance.
“The emperor was assassinated by you.”
*********
The Aragats were bound by the curse of service but they were proud that the Emperor had chosen them as messengers.
Their martial arts their wisdom their abilities were proof that they were superior to others and the curse of service was heavy but it was an honor that the emperor chose them and it was only because the emperor unexpectedly fell suddenly that the contract of service became a curse.
That’s what they were teaching.
But does that mean it’s a lie?
“Oh dear. I see you didn’t know anything. Or maybe you didn’t want to know? Haha it’s fun to teach someone who doesn’t want to know.”
Looking at the madness in that smile Azadin suddenly wondered.
“If the Emperor’s murder was committed by the messenger clan why wasn’t it made public? And how did Your Majesty know about it?”
“From the perspective of the Church of the King the Emperor is the one who denied the existence of kings but he is also the one closest to the Yaegas. If such a person is killed by the King-slayer their impiety and immorality will be highlighted but won’t their competence also be highlighted? I have many books that prove this but what’s important is not the evidence but whether you want to believe it or not right?”
Manza-Zadek’s attitude and the ambiguities in the part about the Emperor’s downfall that he pointed out all proved that what he said was true.
“Your clan who murdered the Emperor is using the Emperor’s curse of oblivion to extort loyalty from you. So how about you quit the Herald Clan and serve me? Many former Herald Clan members already serve me. You don’t need to worry about the curse of service. As a descendant of the Yaegasu clan I can prevent that to some extent.”
“First of all the reason I came here was because the Naga clan that serves the Nether will soon attack Btuma and my people will use this opportunity to usurp the throne here. Many of Btuma’s people will be massacred. I want to prevent that.”
“Hahaha. I thought you were joking but you’re serious. You’re a herald clan that truly follows the Emperor’s laws!”
Golden King Manja-Zadek burst into laughter when he realized that Azadin had truly come here to protect the people.
“I am becoming more and more greedy. You Azadin serve me.”
“So isn’t that why I am petitioning to be allowed to serve Your Majesty now?”
“No it seems like you’re only planning to help defend the castle for a little while and then disappear but you want me to serve you with all your heart. Oh and then I have to prove to you that I’m a monarch worthy of your loyalty. If you look at me without knowing anything you’ll just look like a pig obsessed with pleasure. Isn’t that right?”
“no.”
“Hahaha. You’ll be a good seed. You even know how to tell obvious lies. But whatever. It won’t be easy to not despise my appearance when you don’t know the circumstances.”
Manja-Zadek pointed to his throne. The throne he sat on was made of a large tree that could fit an elephant.
“Underneath this is the Quartz Throne the Throne of Yaegas. Do you know why I am doing this on the sacred Throne of Yaegas?”
“I can only imagine that there must be profound thoughts and concerns that I a simpleton cannot possibly understand… How could I fathom Your Majesty’s profound intentions?”
“Because I’m trying to strengthen the light of the King’s Flower even a little bit. First… I need to talk about why the light of the King’s Flower has been weakening recently.”
“Are you telling me that?”
Azadin was surprised to learn that Manza-Zadek was about to tell the secret of the Yaegas a surprising secret.

“Yes. Shouldn’t I prove to you that I am a lord worthy of serving? So wash your ears and listen carefully. I will tell you the secrets of the Yaegasu clan and the emperor that I have been studying.”
Azadin listened to Manza-Zadek’s words as if he was being sucked into them.
*********
The Yaegasu Gods originally had a physical body but one day they attained great enlightenment abandoned their physical body and ascended into higher-dimensional spiritual beings.
When they discovered the continent of Hybris the rulers of this land were the Nagas and the humans suffered under the tyranny of the Nagas or were trampled by the Nether messengers that were incomprehensible to humans.
The Yaegas gods who had lofty ideals descended to save suffering humanity. Of course there were those who descended to enjoy the pleasures of the flesh that they had long ago abandoned instead of lofty ideals.
Eight quartz thrones were installed on the continent of Hybris and through them the Yaegas gods began a war to save humanity.
And when that war ended those who had descended with only lofty ideals returned and those who had descended for the pleasure of the flesh remained on this earth. That was the reason why the descendants of the Yaegasu gods remained on this earth.
But the pleasure soon grew tiresome and when the gods who had descended upon this land returned to their world those who were left behind realized that they were inferior to their ancestors.
And its power gradually weakens.
The Church of the King of Order founded by the Yaegasu Shinzou is a church that worships the Shinzou that brings the light of the King’s Fire.
At first this order was a faithful tool for the royal family. But as the power of the gods weakened the royal family and nobles gradually realized that this tool was becoming a shackle that was tightening around their necks.
Their ancestors the Yaegas are leaving them the divine bloodline that set them apart from commoners is weakening and the power of darkness is growing stronger once again.
The royal family who were terrified when they found out the truth committed suicide en masse or went insane. Then they began to hide the truth from the next generation of royals and claimed that they were gods.
The term Yaegasu Shinzok originally referred only to those who descended.
But the descendants of that tribe of gods tried to strengthen their authority by confusing the terms and to obtain all the magic and magical powers that remained in this land in order to replace the power of the disappearing gods. Some of them were tempted by the evil powers that were their original enemies.
At that time Emperor Yaeslat was born.
