Night of the Soulless Heathens – 193

King Btuma Manja-Zadek personally granted a building to the Cheonggeondang Heavenly Lord which was located on the site of an old theater that was clearly visible from the royal palace. He built the Heavenly Lord’s Pavilion in a place where the Cheonggeondang’s movements could be monitored at any time.
Even Azadin who was not familiar with the situation in Btuma could understand why the king had the building built.
But whatever the reason on the surface the fact that the king himself built the building meant that Cheonggeundang was recognized by the Kingdom of Btuma. It was a great favor that could not be refused.
“Um why didn’t I know this?”
Azadin was surprised to see the Catholic Church visible from afar. If there was such a new religious movement there was no way the Jeonryong clan would not know about it.
An eight-story wooden pagoda was built next to the old theater site and on the way there many people wearing blue hats were seen.
“The Cheonggeun Party is a religion that has grown rapidly recently. It would have been difficult for the Jeonryung clan to know about it in detail.”
“That’s right. If you treat his learning disorder he’ll have no choice but to grow up quickly.”
“….”
Jiswah was taken aback by Azadin’s words.
Azadin is the one who approached Grimslow’s body and received the miracle of his body being infused with a bow and a club.
That miracle is equal to or greater than the miracle of God so if this fact is revealed as it is wouldn’t many people come forward if Azadin came forward to usurp the Qing Dynasty?
But for some reason Azadin didn’t seem to trust the organization called Cheonggeundang.
‘It is a strange thing that the executor of miracles does not believe in himself.’
As Jiswaga felt Azadin did not trust the Qing Dynasty.
‘I saw what happened in the Adirov Baronial Territory. If you believe in the Blue Party you’re a fool. However Jiswa is someone who was saved by the Blue Party’s leap forward so he still believes in the Blue Party.’
In Azadin’s view the leader of the Qing Dynasty Tian Zhou would be a typical Bthuma person.
While the Bthuma people were confident that they had amassed great wealth through commerce and mining they felt inferior and victimized because they were separated from the general lifestyle of the Hybris people.
Although there are many gold mines and sugar cane grows well Btuma is still a remote foreign country to the Hybris people because of the severe endemic diseases.
The most uniquely isolated environment among the Eight Kingdoms. As a result the nobles and wealthy of Btuma despite their wealth feel inferiority and even anger towards the people of the other Eight Kingdoms and the incident in the Adyrov Baronial Territory was a scene where that hostility was blatantly revealed.
‘In the end this religion is saying that the roles of the subject and the object have been reversed.’
Religion was originally created to convey teachings. However as religion gained power by gathering people together and became more centralized those who saw power as their goal in itself emerged.
It could be said that the Cheonggeun Party was a religion created precisely for the purpose of seizing power. Its teachings were shallow and its religious influence was extremely expansive.
However those who survived the fever were already emotionally completely absorbed in the Qing Dynasty and regarded its shallow teachings as if they were gold and jade.
‘If you’ve already carved the teachings into gold and jade it would be good if you really lived by the doctrine. They already don’t even follow their own doctrine of living a good life so do you think they’ll listen to me if I say a few words? You should just meet God and get his help in defending Bthuma. It’s pointless to argue with Jiswa here.’

Azadin headed to the Cheonju Pavilion of the Cheonggeun Party.
*********
Because Cheonjugak was a building made of wood and was quickly constructed it was essentially a tower with only pillars and stairs.
However the Bthuma people had an architectural style that consisted of erecting strong pillars and using fabric as walls. They decorated the buildings and divided them into sections by skillfully arranging colorfully decorated fabrics so that they did not give the impression of being roughly built buildings.
‘This is architecture that can be done in a hot country. It’s cool and nice.’
Azadin stopped in front of the altar where he was to appear before God.
“Jiswa and the Taoist monk. Welcome. Who is this person?”
“Ah a guest who will meet God with me.”
“Then first please unpack your bags and change into the clothes we have prepared for you.”
“Please take off your helmet too.”
Azadin took off his helmet at their request.
Those who saw the wounds on Azadin’s face and the damaged eyes were shocked.
“Are you okay?”
“I didn’t know you were blind. But our law says that we cannot carry any weapons or staffs when we appear before God…”
They were puzzled thinking that Azadin was blind. It seems that even a walking stick for the blind cannot be carried in front of God.
“Don’t worry. I’m used to it. Just follow the procedures.”
Azadin comforted the bewildered servants and changed into the clothes they had prepared for him.
Judging from the fact that he changed his clothes rather than just disarming them it seems that he is worried about an assassination attempt on God.
‘It’s strict. But I wanted to try on Btuma’s clothes. I expected him to disarm.’
Azadin put down his weapon and changed into Bthuma’s clothes.
Btuma’s clothes were wrapped around a cloth to cover her body so from Azadin’s perspective it was no different from being naked.
‘It’s cool but it feels like I’m walking around naked. I said I was wearing it for nothing.’
More than the joy of experiencing the traditional customs of Btuma Azadin was tormented by the shame of walking around naked in a public place. After he changed his clothes the etiquette instructor came and began teaching him etiquette.
“Now here you must not look at the Lord indiscriminately. I will teach you the procedure according to the laws of the Cheonggeondang.”
“What does that mean?”
“There is a ritual procedure so please follow it. First bow your head and recite a hymn praising God. Then when you are told that it is okay to raise your head you can see God.”
‘You’re acting more picky than the Eight Kings who inherited the blood of the Yaegasu Gods. Are you trying to establish authority? Are you going too far?’
Azadin sensed that God was trying to establish his authority by creating useless rituals but what was the point in saying anything? He had no choice but to follow.
Azadin was able to meet God after rehearsing as instructed.
“The Taoist monk Jiswa and his close friend Adan meet the Lord.”
“Raise your head.”
Azadin raised his head as he heard the voice of God.
In fact Azadin could see God even before he raised his head. Azadin’s gaze was not dependent on the flesh. Even while lying face down he raised his sight and looked at God.
But God was behind the exquisitely crafted Nasam Bal so only a shadow could be seen.
What is certain is that his daughter Gimela is a grown woman so she must be quite an old person but her androgynous voice which sometimes sounds like a boy and sometimes like a girl is impressive.
“Who is this? Isn’t it Jiswa? You were clearly dispatched to Korasaar so why did you come back? The mission isn’t over yet. Or what? Did Korasaar already say he would convert to the Way of the Blue Sky?”
“Lord I have witnessed a miracle.”

“miracle?”
“Yes. While we were proclaiming the doctrine and saving the people in the Adyrov Baronial Territory bordering Korasaar in order to spread the way of God those who suddenly took the elixir turned into members of the Nether clan and went on a rampage harming those around them.”
“Oh like that.”
There was still a hint of laughter in God’s voice.
It is not known whether the rampage in the Adyrov Baronial Territory was God’s will or the arbitrary actions of the Bthuma clan priests who disliked Korasar but God was indifferent to the disaster that occurred in Korasar.
Even though there were casualties this is his attitude. Azadin didn’t like God from the start.
“So the person who came with you is from that messenger clan?”
“yes?”
“I’ve already heard the story. I heard he purged Grimslow’s rampaging followers and stole the divine water.”
“Oh no. Robbery? The Grim Stalker himself has chosen it. He has inhabited his weapon and is helping.”
Jiswa said that because he was surprised by Cheonju’s words. However Cheonju seemed to have no intention of listening to Jiswa.
“Nonsense. Jis and he are messengers. They are soulless blasphemies.”
Azadin burst into laughter at God’s words calling him a soulless blasphemer.
The term “soulless blasphemous” is a derogatory term given to the messenger clan by those who serve the Yaegasu clan because they cannot understand the actions of the messenger clan who dare to kill the children of the gods.
It is unreasonable for the leader of a new religion that does not even have the minimum courtesy or respect for the Yaegasu Shinzo to use that derogatory term.
“Oh my God. At least I have come to you as peace. Why do you have to do this?”
“Do you call it peace when you try to disrupt the doctrine of our Cheonggeun Party with false miracles?”
“First of all I apologize for that. In fact it was Jiswail who claimed a miracle I did not claim it.”
“joy.”
As the Lord of Heaven began to jingle a small bell the curtain around him was lifted and the religious people armed with spears rushed in.
Azadin sighed and raised both hands even though he was naked.
“Surrender?”
“no.”
The moment Azadin said that a scream was suddenly heard from behind.
“Eww!”
“Stop it!”
However Grimslow’s club flew through the crowd and caught Azadin in his hand. Then something like a wooden snake came running across the ground and wrapped itself around Azadin’s waist.
Grimslow’s bow and club came running on their own to find Azadin.
‘It’s a weapon that hits the opponent when thrown and returns so I thought it would just fly if I the owner was conscious of it.’
Azadin knew the grim club’s tendency to fly back to his hand if he wanted to so he accepted without much hesitation the disarming and donning Bthuma’s attire.
But from Azadin’s perspective it was a weapon that would return if thrown but here it was like a sacred relic of the gods. Doesn’t it seem as if Azadin had chosen it as its master?
“….”
“uh?”
“It is the Taoist priest’s club.”
“No that’s….”
The Qing Dynasty Party members who saw the scene before their eyes were shocked.
Since most of them had become Grimslown’s followers they could see that the staff was not simply a symbol of the Qing Dynasty Taoist priests but contained the essence of Grimslown.
“It’s a miracle! It’s a miracle!”
Even in this situation Jiswah defended Azadin and kept shouting about a miracle.
‘Stop it you punk. I just need the cooperation of the Cheonggeun Party to defend Btuma. I’m not trying to take away the position of the leader. The more you do that the more difficult my position will become.’
Azadin had asked Jiswa several times to swear before coming in but it seemed to be in vain.
