-Sreung!
In the blink of an eye Medium pulled out his dagger and used the secret technique of the Hwajopungwoljung Gyeotsal disappearing before their eyes.
In an instant she was on the back of one of Azadin’s classmates pointing her blade at his neck.
“What?!”
“This guy…..”
Everyone was astonished at Medium’s audacity and even Azadin was surprised.
‘I knew you were going to do something but I didn’t think you’d do something like this!’
As everyone was panicking Medium’s young but chilling voice rang out.
“Hey. How dare those servants continue to nag at the messenger now?”
“Oh no is this the little girl?”
At that moment Medium’s sword trembled.
-Swish!
Blood gushed out along with the sound of skin being cut.
“Young lady? Can’t you see what’s going on? I’m of the Etar bloodline. Does that servant find what I’m saying funny?”
“ah….”
“Why? You don’t like the messenger right now? Then challenge him first before insulting him. If you win you can become the messenger. Why don’t you challenge him and just sneer? What? You guys are going to decide the order among yourselves? You’re ridiculous. Do you think the messenger is that easy?”
The members of the peddler union were taken aback by Medium’s aggressive attitude.
It really looks like he’s going to kill me.
According to the principle what Medium said is true. The messenger is the top priority and the company is an organization that supports the messengers. It is an organization created for the purpose of gathering information and funds.
However those who run the company thought differently. After all the emperor was dead and the heraldry was no longer meaningful since it was forced upon them by a curse. What was important was money and the social capacity that could be gained through it that is power.
In any organization the one who makes money ends up being the boss.
However the company did not openly ignore the messengers but Azadin was different. However it was precisely on this point that Medium brought up the principle.
“What is your mission? To support the mission as the Emperor’s messenger for the sake of your clan? Then why do you insult the messenger as if you were some kind of person? Does that help your mission?”
“No that’s….”
“If you don’t like Azadin but you’re not confident enough to challenge him to a duel don’t show it. Just smile pleasantly like you would when you were doing business with the Hybris. Can’t you do that? Then you’re not even worthy of being a servant. Either farm in the sanctuary or die by my hand right now. You’re dreaming in vain when you can’t even handle a child’s hand let alone a messenger!”

Midiam snorted took the knife from the servant’s neck and returned to Azadin’s side.
“Ugh…..”
“My damn!”
Only then did Azadin’s old comrades come to their senses and hesitate whether or not to attack Medium.
but….
“Hey that guy… Etar.”
“That’s right right?”
“Damn it. We can’t just mess with Etar.”
“Written.”
Azadin’s comrades suppressed their anger by recalling that Midiam was a member of the Etar bloodline.
“There’s a cloak here. Why not wear it?”
Medium ignored Azadin’s motives as he looked at her and picked up the merchandise cloak that the caravan had put up for sale.
“Let’s do that.”
Azadin took it and headed to the bathhouse behind the caravan camp.
*********
“Azadin is here?”
The leader of the southern caravan of the Korasaar Peddler Guild is a man named Derek originally a member of House Saban the founding bloodline of the Herald Clan and also a Herald of the Emperor.
However he attacked Arael a promising member of the messenger clan and was seriously injured by her counterattack. In particular his ankle which had suffered a compound fracture did not move as it was before even after it healed making it impossible for him to carry out his duties as a messenger.
Because of that incident Savannah sent Derek to a collateral family as an adopted son and also gave him up as a messenger deeming him unfit to perform his duties.
It was a humiliating punishment but it was also a lenient disposition.
In the first place fighting between messengers should be avoided even if there is a just cause. Derek’s attack on Arael was clearly for personal reasons and since he was defeated by a counterattack he had nothing to say even if he died.
However thanks to the strong support of the Savannah family Derek was able to make a living as a merchant rather than a messenger.
“Yes Azadin has arrived. He asked for some simple maintenance so I’m currently accepting his request.”
“Listen. It is the mission of our guild of peddlers to help messengers.”
“Is that okay? That guy is the one who suddenly became a messenger three months ago without any procedures. Everyone hates him.”
“It’s okay. He won’t be able to claim to be a messenger for long anyway. Didn’t the daughter of the Etar clan pass by nearby claiming to be his servant? She must have been trying to challenge him to a duel. What a brazen child. Did he want to set a record by becoming a messenger at age 13 like Arael?”
Derek smiled sinisterly.
Arael’s record is now equaled by Arael’s brother Azadin. This time however Azadin is on the receiving end.
If that happens it will be a very good picture for Derek who hates Arael. However the servant who was reporting to Derek was embarrassed.
“That’s it.”
“what?”
“That very Etar’s daughter just caused a commotion in the barracks.”
“Riot? What are you talking about?”
“You said you slit the throats of Azadin’s comrades who were insulting him?”
“what?”
Derek groaned when he heard that. The situation was clear. Etar’s daughter Midiam had become Azadin’s servant.
“Hmm? I heard he was a loser and a fool but did he manage to defeat Ethar’s daughter? Or maybe Ethar’s daughter has already challenged him to a duel to confirm his skills?”

Derek tried to figure out what was on Medium’s mind.
A brazen girl who came to win the position of messenger through a duel. When Derek saw her Medium was an arrogant girl who was confident that she could defeat Azadin with her own skills.
No matter how much Azadin is hated by the herald clan the Emperor’s herald must be respected. For a young girl who has just finished training to challenge the herald would be an act that would undermine the hierarchy of the clan so the conservatives would not be happy about it.
But Derek actively guided the girl. If Azadin were to break up with Medium it would be a disgrace to Azadin and a disgrace to Arael as well.
But he is faithfully carrying out Azadin’s duties.
“Perhaps he is trying to see how things will turn out for a while since challenging him to a duel would be too aggressive. Or maybe he likes Azadin. After all she is someone who would be a good messenger for this year’s festival.”
“Is that so? Hmm. I thought you were a reckless unruly person but I guess you have some sense. So what’s Azadin doing?”
“I’m taking a bath.”
“Really? Then ask if you want to have dinner together and call me to dinner.”
“All right.”
The men left to relay Derek’s words to Azadin.
*********
The caravan’s campsite consisted of several tents and Azadin was taking a bath in two of the tents.
Azadin handed the laundry over to the servants and soaked in the bathtub.
“That Azadin?”
A servant approached. His manner was polite suggesting that he was not one of the messenger clan Aragasa but rather one of his subordinates.
“What’s going on?”
“Mr. Derek asked me to have dinner with him.”
“Derek? Okay. I have something to say.”
Azadin agreed to dine with Derek.
Derek was having a meal in a fancy tent in the middle of the caravan.
“It was an invitation to dinner right? You didn’t even wait for the guest to arrive.”
Azadin looked dumbfounded at Derek who had invited him but was eating first.
“Um I was eating first. Why don’t you sit down?”
Derek calmly wiped his mouth and offered Azadin a seat. It was Ha-seok too. Azadin sighed as he watched Derek openly insulting him.
“derrick.”
“That’s enough. Your servant attacked the members of the Korasaru Peddler Guild right? Did you know they were Saban’s employees and did that?”
This is the problem.
Clearly the messenger is the top priority for the messenger clan. It is a position that transcends bloodline.
In other words it is a government position that transcends social status and is appointed based on past performance.
However the bloodlines of the five founders and those who work for their businesses are focused on money profit and the power that comes with it. They prioritize the authority of the family over the honor and prestige of the herald.
The problem is that if we ignore this the backlash is so strong that we cannot do anything properly.
“Okay. It’s true that Medium was rude today so I’ll put up with the rudeness shown to me as well.”
In fact Medium was not Azadin’s servant or anything but Azadin took responsibility for her actions and put the food Derek had brought into his mouth.
“Let’s get to the point quickly. I recently dealt with a group of ogres and goblins…”
“you?”
“I found something like this.”
Azadin placed the bone wand on the table.
“Have you ever seen this?”
“Oh this.”
Derek nodded.
“That’s why I called you Azadin. The Kurt Cultists are looking for a copy of the Book of the New King… This is the tool they’re using to find the copy of the Book of the New King.”
“I guess everyone knew.”
“Yes. You don’t report to the district chief properly so you’re the only one who doesn’t know.”
“Would I want to see everyone trying to insult me just by looking at me?”
“You came here quite well considering it was something like that.”
“Because I happened to come here.”
“Anyway it’s a pretty good achievement to bring this wand. I’ll give you credit. Did they have the Book of the New King?”
“None. Not to those guys.”
“Really? You speak as if you obtained the Book of the New King from somewhere else.”
“You saved him? You couldn’t save the other messengers right?”
“….”
Derek’s eyes widened at Azadin’s words.
“why?”
“You got a copy of the Shi Shin Wang Jinseo?”
“It’s just one piece.”
Derek opened his mouth in surprise and hiccupped.
“Hey where did you get that?”
“Hmm judging by the reactions it seems like everyone is a bit unenthusiastic?”
“Where and how did you get it?”
“It was under a well in an abandoned pioneer village in the eastern inland region.”
“Really? Damn it. You got it that easy?”
“It wasn’t something that was easily obtained.”
Perhaps if the ghosts had not guided me I would not have obtained a copy of the Shinwangjinseo even if I had just dug the well. However I do not feel like telling you the details.
“Oh so that’s why if you have a copy of the Book of the New King you’ll be tracked by this wand right? If you’re going to collect copies of the Book of the New King you’ll need a way to avoid being tracked by this wand right?”
“If you have a copy of the New King’s Book please hand it over.”
Derek asked Azadin for a copy of the New King’s Book. However Azadin found it odd that Derek wanted it so desperately.
