    #177. Cheonggeon’s Heaven 5

    “Be careful Captain.”

Scott who said so disassembled the Corpse Abomination he had brought into the forest and re-formed it into a human-sized undead soldier then entered under his own control.

It is said that if you let the undead move autonomously and chase you you will lose control here.

In other words Scott is personally manipulating each and every one of the current undead.

“First send the undead soldiers forward.”

    “uh.”

Scott agreed with Azadin and sent forward an undead soldier armed with a wooden club.

At that moment a pitch-black shadow swooped down from the dense trees and fell upon the undead soldier.

    -Pfft!

With a single blow the head of the undead soldier was blown off. Judging by the way the hobgoblin’s skull was shattered like a watermelon it was a vicious blow that even a human would not have survived.

“What the heck! I prepared everything!”

Scott was furious that his undead soldiers were being crushed so helplessly that he took control of other undead soldiers.

    but….

    -Puff puff!

A black shadow swooped down from the tree and began swinging its forelegs.

The undead soldiers were helpless and fell like autumn leaves.

    “big.”

    Shati was amazed.

It was a huge black leopard that swooped down from the tree to attack.

However its size was much larger than that of a typical leopard and it looked like a northern tiger or even larger and it had tree bark protruding from various parts of its body like armor.

    “What a terrifying monster. Indeed….”

Azadin drew his bow and fired an arrow.

I wondered what effect an arrow would have on such a huge leopard but… the arrow Azadin fired pierced the leopard’s nostril and accurately pierced its brain.

    “Kwang!”

The startled leopard writhed in pain as it tried to yank the arrow embedded in its nose but the arrow broke in the process.

The leopard tried several times to pull the arrow out but each time it did so its brain was torn apart causing more damage.

Eventually the leopard unable to hold on any longer collapsed and died.

“Oh my goodness. Undead soldiers fell with a single blow. And that’s with the ogre muscles.”

Scott grumbled and cast a spell to control the panther that Azadin had brought down.

    “Send it again.”

    “okay.”

As Scott sent the undead panther forward the jungle began to react once again.

This time a pack of wolves as huge as calves appeared.

    “Kurrrrrr!”

The wolves drooling as if they had rabies all had bark-like growths on their bodies just like the leopard from before.

“This guy is like that too.”

    “I’ll try it this time.”

As Shati cast her spell the grass grew strong and enveloped the wolves.

As the wolves scurried through the grass their fur was pulled out and their individual speeds varied so they could not all attack together.

    “Good!”

That alone was more than enough for Scott’s undead panther. Scott controlled the undead panther and struck the head of the first wolf with his forepaw biting off its neck and killing one of them.

The other wolves belatedly emerged from the vines and pounced on the undead leopard but the undead leopard went berserk and swung its forelegs attacking the wolves while Azadin also fired arrows.

“Oh good. I managed to knock it down without causing any damage?”

“It probably won’t work if you try to control multiple people at once Scott. Try controlling one of the wolves first.”

    “Understood Captain.”

Scott tried to send a wolf by commanding it as Azadin had said. And indeed the forest reacted again and a giant spore monster appeared.

“It’s a spore monster. It’s nothing to look at.”

Scott charged the wolf and used a time bomb spell to blast the wolf damaging the spore monster with its force.

    “why?”

“The body of a spore monster is difficult to turn into an undead once it dies. If you manipulate multiple corpses at the same time their combat ability will also decrease so you should just consume them.”

Scott explained and sent another wolf to explode the corpse again completely tearing the spore monster apart.

    *********

Only after breaking through several layers of defensive walls were Azadin and his party able to reach the swamp.

On the edge of the swamp there was an unusual human-shaped tree. From the part that looked like a human face red translucent sap dripped down to the ground like tears of blood flowing into the swamp.

Perhaps the beasts that drank this sap-mixed water became Grimslow’s followers and threatened those who approached.

“Is this Grimslow’s body? The one that gave revelations to the Heavenly Lord of Cheonggeondang?”

The Grimslow fragments once again tried to pull up the giant old trees from the swamp perhaps to protect themselves.

However Azadin accelerated like the wind kicking off the ground and stood in front of Grimslow in an instant.

“Is this the fragment of Grimslow that taught God?”

As Azadin reached out to Grimslow lightning suddenly struck Azadin.

“Now you foolish disciple. These are the languages of the Nether. Do not look at them carelessly.”

    “yes?”

    Azadin suddenly raised his head.

There was Kazas’s hut. It was where Azadin had spent most of his childhood. The place where he had trained under Kazas was spread out before Azadin just as it was that day.

    “uh?”

    “Isn’t it amazing?”

Kazas showed Azadin the letters in the book he had opened.

Nether letters were alive and writhing on the surface of the book.

“The letters change. Don’t watch this change too much. Some faint-hearted people may go crazy just by looking at it.”

    “This is learning Nether script…”

Azadin tried to say that it was when he was learning Nether script but Kazas seemed to have interpreted it differently after hearing Azadin’s words.

“Yes. It’s a book for learning Nether script. These things written here are not in the language of our dimension. Look at the shadow cast by this tree…”

    “?”

“In our world that tree is the essence and this shadow is the shadow of that essence cast on a two-dimensional world that is lower in dimension than ours. Likewise the Nether languages written here are fragments of the shadow cast by that essence. However if you correctly perceive and pronounce that dimension….”

As he spoke Kazas pronounced the language of the Nether.

At that moment part of Kazas’ tongue changed and a bug appeared.

Kazas immediately cut off the growing insect by cutting off his tongue with the obsidian blade he had then threw it to the floor and stomped on it and rubbed it.

    “That’s amazing. Are you okay?”

Kazas was surprised to see Azadin calmly watching that scene.

    “Yeah.”

This isn’t Azadin’s first time experiencing this. He had already experienced it a long time ago when he was taken by Kazas to help with Nether’s research.

Clearly at that time I was terrified and shocked by the evil power of the Nether language that Kazas pronounced. It was painful.

However the language of the Nether was not that difficult for Azadin at the moment.

“Amazing Azadin. Your magical powers are beyond my expectations.”

    “Master is this a dream?”

“…Oh isn’t that so? You’re causing confusion. Are you okay?”

Kazas thought that Azadin was confused by the Nether language.

‘Seeing this reaction I don’t think it’s just a dream.’

As Azadin became lost in thought Kazas became confused.

“If you’re not feeling well should I rest for a bit? Are you going crazy already from this?”

“It’s okay. And that’s not all.”

Azadin pronounced the Nether language exactly as Kazas had pronounced it.

    “!?”

The power of the Nether also tried to penetrate Azadin’s tongue but Azadin blocked the Nether’s penetration with the power of the King’s Light Shinwangjinseo that resided within his body.

Even Kazas had to cut off his own tongue with an obsidian blade but Azadin is unharmed.

“Oh my god. You? What are you? A genius? Something like that?”

“That’s not true. But rather Master I have something to ask you.”

    “…what?”

“What is this Demon King who eats the Grimoire?”

The Demon King who eats the Grimoire. That’s what everyone in the world called Kazas.

“Oh where did you get that? How do you know that? Hmm. I see. Did Aldis tell you about it beforehand?”

Kazas shrugged when Azadin asked him an unexpected question.

“Yes. I was a human-eater under the Naga Empire. I was able to absorb the grimoires of those I ate and with them I became proficient in all kinds of magic. Before I knew it the Nagarajas began to fear me and I gained a lot of power myself. I taught magic to many wizards and I made their achievements mine again. People were afraid of me so they called me the Demon King.”

“What kind of magic did you study?”

“The first was blood magic. I taught blood magic to many humans and helped them escape from the Naga Empire. Some of them became my followers even after they escaped and I became their king. From then on I was called the Demon King. Since then many people have challenged me and I studied blood magic killed those challengers and ate them to grow stronger.”

    “How did it end?”

“When the Naga Empire fell my small country of wizards also fell. I thought that blood magic had its limits so I learned necromancy.”

    “How did it end?”

“I was defeated by the Emperor and his followers. The Aragasas brought me here believing that my knowledge of various magics would be useful and I became their advisor for their magical research.”

“So when did you become an elder?”

“When the leader Hatir came to lead the Aragathas. As promised he freed me and gave me the opportunity to study Nether magic. Of course it would be correct to say that he forced me to study Nether magic. I traveled around the world preying on those studying Nether magic and stealing their grimoires. I extended my life by erasing the miscellaneous grimoires stored in my body by colliding them with the power of the Nether and studied Nether magic.”

Kazas answered with a startled look.

“That’s surprising. Why am I telling you that? You… are not the you of this time period!”

    “…yes.”

As Azadin nodded Kazas stepped back and drew his dagger.

“Oh my god! Little one. What are you…?”

    “well?”

Azadin heard a voice from far away in the Nether. It was probably Grimsloan speaking in the Nether language.

“I guess this is… the Way of the Blue Sky or the principle or something like that.”

I woke up from my dream when Azadin smiled bitterly.

    *********

    “Are you okay? Captain?”

    “hey.”

Scott and Shati approached Azadin terrified.

On the other hand isn’t Jiswa bowing down to Azadin?

    “Oh my God!”

    “hmm?”

Azadin discovered that the tree that was in front of him the Grimslown fragment had hardened.

It was clearly a person shedding tears of blood until just now. The tree which had been a lifelike wooden statue that could almost be compared to a living person now had a vague human figure. It was a distorted figure that was difficult to see as human unless you were extremely nearsighted.

Instead Azadin was holding an unknown piece of wood in his hand.
