Night of the Soulless Heathens – 175

Jiswa also did not hand over the position of Taoist priest to Azadin simply because he liked him. He did it on purpose to draw someone as powerful as Azadin into their fight.
And Azadin needed it too.
It was a time when both the Senate and Arael were beginning to plot against the Kingdom of Bthuma. In order to gain the organizational power to counter this it was necessary to persuade even these pseudo-religious groups.
“Hmm. Originally I was planning to have a good time serving tea to travelers.”
Gimela was disappointed that her initial expectations were wrong.
“Would you like to come and drink the tea you gave me? I saw it in Adirov.”
Azadin sat down at the table as he spoke.
“But who is that muscular handsome guy besides you?”
“Scott McGreen.”
“Really? Hmm. Sounds great. Are you interested in a Bthuma-style oil massage?”
“….”
Scott turned to Azadin after hearing Gimela’s blatant seduction.
“What? Are you two a couple?”
Gimela was surprised to learn that Scott was asking for Azadin’s permission.
“No way. Rather you’re asking me for a strategic judgment. You’re asking me if there’s anything to gain from sleeping with you. And you too. You’re bringing a child with you and you still have so many thoughts of having an affair.”
“This is a common occurrence in the Bthuma court. This child will eventually learn such fun.”
Azadin’s accusations failed to stir any emotion in Gimela. It was unclear whether this was really a trivial matter in Bthuma or whether she was the only one who felt this way but it was clear that she had no qualms about the affair.
“It’s a safe day so I thought I’d get some exercise to relieve some of the fatigue. Are you really not interested? You must have had a long trip so this will help you feel refreshed and relieve your body fatigue.”
“I’ll tell you in advance ma’am. My body doesn’t like that kind of physical activity that builds muscle.”
“…I knew from the moment I heard the name McGreen he was an orc.”
Gimela realized Scott was an orc when he made a comment about being reluctant to build muscle.
“Of course. What race besides our orcs with their muscles and intelligence would shine with such talent?”
As Scott said that Gimela licked her lips.
“They say orcs have such great stamina.”
“No that’s not okay.”

Azadin stopped Gimela and Scott. Even if the parties involved agreed and even if such things were common in Bthuma he could not tolerate them brazenly committing adultery in front of a child.
“Anyway we came because we had something to discuss with you.”
“What do you mean a recommendation?”
“The Nagas will soon attack the Btuma royal palace just as they attacked Coral Sahar. In addition the Ogres are already waging a barrage to the north. And the Heralds are behind them.”
Azadin convinced Gimela by explaining in detail the split in the Herald Clan what the faction was aiming for and what had actually happened in Korhal Sahar.
“Oh my goodness. You’re a member of the Herald Clan? That’s amazing. Second Lieutenant. That’s a really high position isn’t it?”
Gimela was surprised when Azadin revealed that he was a messenger.
“Can you take off your helmet and show me your face? He must be handsome because he has a nice voice.”
‘This woman is really. She’s talking about the ups and downs of the national fortunes right now…’
Azadin was annoyed at her asking him to show her his face but he took off his helmet and showed her his bare face.
“Ah. This. It’s a shame that such a handsome man has become so rare. But he’s still quite fit. Not as muscular as an orc but… Oh are you interested in a Butuma-style oil massage? If it’s okay with you how about going with that orc and another concubine I know?”
“No now is not the time. Sigh.”
Azadin sighed as he looked at Gimela who was unable to communicate with him.
“It looks like they’re going to invade Korasaar but since it looks like we’ll be invaded first convince Count Kimalhaji to send some of his troops to the north and some to support Btooma. Also I’d like to ask the Lord of the Qing Dynasty to cooperate in protecting Btooma rather than having any useless ambitions or resentment toward Korasaar.”
“Well I appreciate that you revealed your identity to me but I also need to consider your position.”
“Your position?”
“Yes. The entire Kingdom of Btuma including Kimalhaji actually planned to invade Korasaar. But who would listen if someone from Korasaar told them that the monsters would invade instead of them so they should focus on that instead of the war?”
“You still can’t believe that Coral Sahar has been taken away?”
“Rather wouldn’t you think that now that Coral Sahar has been robbed and you’re out of your mind this is a better opportunity? And the one who took the throne of Coral Sahar is a woman from the Herald Clan? And you’re also a Herald Clan. Of course according to you you claim to be a third party that doesn’t belong to any of the Herald Clans… I have to believe you.”
“….”
“So I would like to make a suggestion.”
“proposal?”
“You won’t be able to convince your father or even God with that information. Then how about doing as I suggest? Then you might be able to convince your father.”
“What is your suggestion?”
“They are plundering the holy land by taking the body of our Cheonggeun Party.”
“…If it’s a holy place then it’s the place where your father was struck by lightning?”
“Yes. It is where the body of the god of the Nether Grimthrown is located. If you plunder that place and obtain Grimthrown’s sacred relics your father will not be able to ignore you and if the Blue Party moves King Btuma will not be able to ignore you. Right now the Blue Party has pushed out the King’s Church and the Knights Templar and has become the dominant religion in Btuma.”
“Grimslow’s body. What exactly is it?”
“There is a piece of an old tree in the swamp. My father was resting on it when he was struck by lightning and became one of his servants. After that I tried to remove the body and transport it to Bthuma several times but the Nether monsters appeared every time and I failed.”
“If I pick up that body will I be able to exercise control over the Cheonggeun Party?”
“Perhaps. However I think it’s impossible for a mere human. Even if all the warriors and Taoists of the Cheonggeon Party rushed in they couldn’t do it. However if the Jeonryeong clan is truly a soulless blasphemer who kills the god kings wouldn’t it be possible? And you’re the second-in-command right? Doesn’t that mean you’re one of the most powerful people in the Jeonryeong clan?”
“Hmm.”
Azadin frowned at Gimela’s words.
This woman is trying to use him. But if he talks to anyone other than this woman… I don’t think he’ll be convinced.
The Herald Clan took over the throne of Coral Sahar.
With such rumors going around if Azadin introduces himself as a member of the Herald Clan the Herald Clan that swallowed up the Kingdom of Korasaar will think he is just talking nonsense to buy time.
Nagas aren’t stupid. They already did a good job for me in Coral Sahar so why would they do it again in Btuma?

“Let me think about it. But can you give me a chance to meet Count Kimalhaji?”
“My husband? Well I don’t think it’ll be a good thing.”
“But introduce me anyway.”
“I said it’s best if you just don’t look and do as I say.”
“…Hey Komosal. You’re a Taoist priest of Cheonggeondang too so you can meet the Count right?”
“Ah it is as you said young lady. The Count is also a man full of ambition for Corassar and he is not the type of person to give up his ambition with just a few words.”
Jiswa also agreed with that opinion.
“Yes. The Count it’s just not convincing. Unless it’s a pillow fight.”
“Huh? A pillowcase?”
“The Count is that bachelor.”
“….”
“You’ll love orcs.”
“Aha. I see. Okay Scott. Let’s try to convince him.”
“No Captain.”
Scott clicked his tongue at Azadin’s change in attitude.
*********
Count Kimalhaji gladly welcomed Azadin and his party.
He smiled as he lay in his bed with the muscular men by his side.
“What a great muscular man this is.”
The Count looked at Scott and smacked his lips.
“….”
It seems like Scott’s popularity is exploding here.
Azadin told Count Kimalhaji exactly what he had said to Gimela but the Count’s response was lukewarm.
“It’s not that I don’t trust you. I see that you genuinely believe that the Heralds will invade Btuma too. But that’s just disinformation. The King’s Church is currently attacking Koral Sahar. You can’t afford for the Heralds to take the throne.”
“But even if the King’s Church now comes and intervenes….”
“The Heralds probably won’t have that much time on their hands. They’ll be busy defending Coral Sahar and then the King’s Church will naturally grant the neighboring nations a united kingdom if they decide they can’t recover it on their own. And Btuma isn’t as barbaric a land as the northerners think. It suffers from malaria but it has a huge population of rice and beans and there are also many gold mines.”
Although Btuma is considered a dark land and unexplored by people from other regions because of its endemic diseases vast jungles and the Naga Empire hidden within it it is actually the second largest land area among the Eight Kingdoms with a huge population and great economic power.
Without such benefits there would be no reason to live here and endure endemic diseases.
So the nobles who took over the land of Btuma had a sense of pride but also a sense of inferiority.
They were always dissatisfied that their territorial management was not properly evaluated so they were anxious to expand their power.
“So does that guy ever think of finding new pleasures in the flesh?”
The Count was more interested in Scott’s body than in Azadin’s warnings.
*********
In the end the attempt to persuade the Count was in vain.
If Gimela wanted to exert influence on the Kingdom of Btuma in this situation it would be faster to visit the holy grounds of the Qing Dynasty and obtain the body of the ‘Old Tree of the Swamp’ Grimslown and then persuade the Qing Dynasty Lord rather than trying to persuade the higher-ups.
“Whew. I suddenly hate everything.”
Azadin was greatly disappointed in the ambitions of the rulers of Btuma who did not even listen to his words about the threat of the Naga Empire.
They prioritize their own ambitions regardless of whether the people die or not.
