Night of the Soulless Heathens – 172

#172. Northern Threat 4
I didn’t realize it because Azadin was so easily subdued but this guy really killed this many ogres and goblins?
Looking at the horrific corpses strewn everywhere one could not help but marvel at Donair’s ability to annihilate them.
And once again I was amazed at Azadin for subduing Donair so easily.
“Um… It’s not like there’s a letter for the ogres.”
Azadin stuck out his tongue as he rummaged through the corpses. He saw that Scott was delighted by the sight of the corpses strewn about.
“Captain. Can I help you?”
“Don’t ask me ask Zebeck.”
“zebec….”
“Oh don’t ask me. How can I tell you that it’s okay if I tear my mouth open? Just do it. Why do you want my permission?”
Zibek reacted nervously but that was the best compromise he could make.
The magic Scott was trying to do now was a wicked necromancy that interrogated the souls of the dead. It would be better to play with corpses instead.
But even if it means tearing my mouth open as a Paladin I can’t give permission to use necromancy. Wouldn’t it be better to do it secretly in a place where no one can see and get information instead of asking for permission?
‘Jibek has become much more rounded. Should I call it corruption if other knights see it? But there are many knights who have dabbled in black magic so what?’
Right now Judge Jecht the master of Jebeck has been using all kinds of black magic including nether magic. Wasn’t it Jecht who turned this Donair gang into monsters?
“Okay I get it. Phew the person who died probably doesn’t really care but I a rationalist have to understand those who are entangled in superstitions and bad habits due to my low intelligence.”
“….”
Scott memorized the spell and cast it on the corpse of the ogre that seemed to be the leader even though Zibek was glaring at him.
Blood spurted out from the corpse forming a large circle of blood and a sinister black shadow appeared within it.
[Huh? I’m dead? I have to go to the king’s presence.]
“Can we talk briefly before that? We decided to invade Btuma?”
[Btuma. The human kingdom has a lot of meat and a lot to eat. There are a lot of shiny things. He said you can have whatever you want.]
“Ogres where did you plan on going? Are you a vanguard? A scout?”
[We were lost because we didn’t know the way. We caught a man who was walking along the road and skewered him to show us the way. But he died soon after.]
It looks like they were coming down from the mountain catching random people skewering them and then making them show the way.
Azadin shuddered at the ogres’ outrageous ways of doing things.

“These are such cruel guys.”
“no….”
The mercenary bandits felt fear as they watched Azadin rage against the ogres who were disturbing their peace by summoning spirits with their evil black magic.
I thought to myself “You’re not particularly good at anything…” but I didn’t dare say it out loud.
“Let me ask you about the size of your army. How many of you are there? Are there other forces?”
[Our ogre battalion commander said “Um one two three… There are many. Many have been dispatched.”
I couldn’t hear the numbers properly because ogres say more than five on one hand is a lot but it was helpful that he mentioned his rank as a battalion commander.
Oddly enough ogres are very sensitive to rank and keep the number of troops under their command strictly in accordance with rank. Those who cannot count more than five are very sensitive to power so the ranks are very precise.
“More than five battalion commander-level ogres?!”
“…oh my god.”
The Qing Dynasty members and mercenary bandits who were listening were terrified.
Then the Emperor’s voice spoke to Azadin.
[That is exactly what he said. Right now an ogre army has suddenly appeared on the northern border of the Kingdom of Btuma and a war is about to break out. The Count of Hartam north of Btuma has invoked the Emperor’s gold coin and made a vow but the messenger clan is currently ignoring the gold coin’s vow.]
“Ugh…..”
Azadin felt ashamed at the words of the Emperor’s voice.
The messenger’s mission is to at least grant the gold coin’s wish. But aren’t the current messengers the ones who brought about that war?
They brought the Nagas to attack the Kingdom of Btuma for their own ambitions and the Nagas brought the Ogres. They gave them the disease so they will not give them the cure.
[Count Hartam requested reinforcements from King Btuma and King Btuma gathered all his troops to the maximum and sent them to Btuma to provide support. Thanks to this Btuma is currently in a situation where he is severely lacking the troops to respond directly if attacked.]
“Hmm Captain. What should we do?”
Currently Azadin’s party has just entered the eastern border of the Kingdom of Btuma.
You can either go to the Hartam Margrave or head straight to the Bthuma Castle. The distances are similar in both places.
“First of all it’s certain that that guy Donair has a detection spell. If you kill that guy the caster will immediately know that he’s dead. It’s a spell that can even tell where he died?”
“Can’t it be released?”
“If you release it we’ll know that you’re dead. But Captain how about letting this guy deal with the ogres? He’s weak to the light of the King’s Fire but he’ll be strong against ogres or goblins that are strong.”
Scott suggested using Donair for power.
Azadin had no intention of allowing a sadistic cannibal like Donair to live. However he could not help but keep in mind that killing him would send a signal to Jecht and the situation was so dire that he had to grab onto anything.
“I will take control.”
Jibek stepped forward.
“Hey mercenaries.”
“yes.”
“You are to follow the orders of Lord Jibek from now on. Donaire.”
“uh.”
“Tell me where you have hidden your treasure and go north to help the Hartam Margrave as ordered by Jibek.”
“Are you going to save me?”
Donair smiled bitterly.
Trying to save the Hartam Margrave by using himself as a soldier.
I don’t know what the hell this herald clan is thinking. Do they really value their mission as the Emperor’s heralds? Even though the Emperor is dead?

“I cherish my duty as the Emperor’s messenger. Even though you have committed a mortal sin if you are of use I will hand you over to the ogres. If you fight well you will have a chance to save your life.”
Azadin said so and gestured to Zibek.
“yes.”
“Just in case.”
Azadin handed Jibek a copy of the New King’s Book.
“This is…..”
“Even if Donair gets stronger and attacks you will definitely be able to control him if you have this. You saw me use it right?”
“Understood. Thank you Azadin. I will live up to your expectations.”
Jibek received money from Azadin to pay the mercenaries’ salaries and supplies to take them to Hartam.
“I’ll see you again in Btuma when I’m done!”
“okay!”
Leading the Donairs and the bandit mercenaries Xibek immediately set out for Hartam.
“Then we should hurry to Btuma.”
Azadin took the gold and food hidden in the farms that Donair had killed and taken from the people.
“Just a moment Captain. Then there’s no more Jibek.”
Scott’s eyes lit up as he looked at the corpses of ogres and goblins strewn across the ground and the large wagons on the farm.
“Can I use the corpse?!”
“Yes. That’s why I gave command to Jibek. But just keep it simple. If ogres and goblins turn into undead and run around people won’t stay still.”
“Tsk tsk. Captain. Do you really think I would make such a rookie mistake? I’m not your run-of-the-mill necromancer like those idiots imagine. I’m a real necromancer with creativity artistry and a burning passion in my heart. You can’t be a necromancer without romance!”
“Really? What kind of crazy thing are you trying to do?”
Azadin watched Scott’s actions with anxiety.
*********
“note.”
“The tea is truly meaningful.”
Jiswah was impressed by Azadin’s actions.
Azadin suppressed the Donair gang with his terrifying skills and then split his forces to rescue one of the counties.
Although they are only a single paladin Donaire and a small number of mercenaries not even a single platoon although well-armed they will surely be of great help to the Hartam Margrave judging by the number of ogres and goblins killed by Donaire and his men.
Besides Azadin himself was on his way to rescue Bthuma.
At first Jiswa had been suspicious of Azadin but now he could clearly understand Azadin’s intentions.
This man is trying to save the country single-handedly.
Honestly I couldn’t help but be impressed by Jiswa on that point.
Like most pseudo-religions Cheonggeundang also teaches that people should love their neighbors maintain harmony in their families protect the elderly and respect women.
However what believers actually pay attention to is not such correct and proper teachings but rather the detailed supplementary rules such as how to deal with a wife if she is suspected of infidelity and how to beat her when collecting usury.
No one puts effort into doing something that is obvious and right.
But this man has the power to take any amount of money power and beauties he wants and yet he is actually moving to save the country.
That’s good….
“Growling!”
The ogre’s head roared. And the carriage was being pulled away.
“Hoo hoo hoo.”
Scott McGreen was delighted to see his masterpiece.
“Name it Ogre Muscle Chariot! How about it?”
“It looks so crazy! And why are you screaming?”
“That’s because they breathe in oxygen. If you create an undead with just a bunch of muscle and a system that doesn’t breathe in oxygen the corpse will quickly rot and become unusable. Low-level Naga necromancers embalm rotten corpses to create mummies but this is how I challenge myself to create life.”
“….”
Azadin clicked his tongue as he looked at the results of this desecration of life.
Scott created a gigantic quadrupedal monster using the flesh blood muscles and bones of a dead ogre. A new type of monster that could breathe and communicate with flesh and blood.
“As soon as you die your body will begin to decay…”
“However if you forcefully connect the blood and organs to circulate them the rate of decay decreases.”
“But if you have life force like you said shouldn’t you eat food?”
“So you packed some food too?”
Scott loaded the corpses of the goblins he had left for parts onto the wagon. He probably called them ‘food’.
‘It’s a good thing Jibek didn’t have to see this.’
Azadin covered the face of the terrible monster with a tarpaulin.
Moreover this beast made from the corpse of an ogre and shaped like a horse was so fast that Azadin’s mountain goats had to chase it down quickly with alarm.
“Ah. I made it but it’s really well made. It’s a work of art. Should I call it Corpse Abomination?”
Scott was absorbed in his masterpiece not caring whether people hated it or not.
