Night of the Soulless Heathens – 171

#171. Northern Threat 3
-Two-tap!
Donair’s blade missed Azadin and Azadin’s kick broke Donair’s ribs and pierced his lungs and liver.
The picturesque scene of evading and attacking at the same time left those watching in awe.
“omg!”
And he squeezed out the remaining air from Donair’s lungs.
“Ugh… This can’t be happening.”
Until just now Donair had been intoxicated by the sense of superiority and omnipotence that violence brought.
‘I thought it would be different this time…’
In the past Donair was intimidated by Azadin’s power and the name of the Herald Clan. So now that he has grown stronger he thought things would be different and attacked them but for some reason Azadin is filled with the power of the Light of the King’s Flower and they are more compatible than before.
Every time he was hit a terrible pain that felt like his whole body was burning took over Donair.
“As expected from our leader.”
Scott was just watching from behind with his legs stretched out in this situation.
“shit!”
“Save the boss!”
His men rushed in to save Donair.
The villains transformed into countless swarms of worms that squirmed around like maggots on a corpse that had been rotting for a week rushed at Azadin but Azadin drew his Azure Steel longsword and swung it with one hand.
The blue sword light cleanly cut down the monsters attacking Azadin.
A normal steel sword would not have been able to handle this tremendous force but the Azure Steel longsword cleanly sliced the monster’s arm lengthwise without any damage.
“no!?”
And Azadin swung the hem of his cape overlapped the cut sections of the insects and swept them away. With a dull leather drum sound the insects burst out all at once.
“Ugh!”
And that wasn’t the end of it.
The thief who was hit by Azadin’s long blow over the hem of his clothes staggered and suddenly white flames began to appear all over his body.
“Eww!”
“Wow the light of the king’s flower?!”

The light of the King’s Fire that had been charged into Azadin’s body was burning them.
“…!”
Although the Donair gang had been confident that they were immortal the current attack was fatal even for them.
The omnipotence and superiority that had ruled them until just a moment ago disappeared in an instant and fear and awe took their place.
‘Whew. You’re so energetic?’
Meanwhile Azadin was also surprised. The power of the Hwajopungwol Kazas was growing too strong.
Thanks to the continuous supply of magical power through the copy of the New King’s Book the already raging flames of Hwajopungwol Kajashae now possessed tremendous strength and ferocity like a torrent that could devour anything.
‘To be honest the stronger you get the harder it is to control…’
So it was better for Azadin to meet the enemy and use his strength without any regrets. If he stayed still the torrential current boiling inside his body would tear him apart.
Kazas Haeseo. This technique which causes the power of multiple grimoires or incomplete grimoires like Azadin to run wild becomes more difficult to control as the power grows stronger.
However to those who did not know the circumstances Azadin was truly a messenger of death.
“Eww!”
The Donair gang lost their will to fight and began to flee.
However Azadin wound a page from the New King’s Book around an arrow and fired the arrow hitting the fleeing Donair party.
“Kwaaaaak!”
A pure white flame rose up and burned the Donair gang.
The flames were like sticky bitumen-filled flame bombs and when Donair and his men tried to pull out their arrows they were engulfed in white flames that stuck to their hands and they suffered until they died.
“Thank goodness. I was worried about letting you guys who killed Lord Brand’s family pass by alive but now you guys are coming to find me.”
Azadin approached Donair who neither dared to confront nor run away.
“And on top of that they captured me and tortured me!”
Shati added a word. Donair was inwardly indignant when he heard those words.
‘Get out of here! You didn’t even torture me properly! But why is this crazy guy bringing me around? The Emperor’s messenger?’
But at that moment lightning suddenly flashed before his eyes. Azadin was slapping Donair in the face again.
“Open your eyes. Why are you making such an expression? If I think about the price you paid for your crimes I should torture you to death as much as possible but I’m busy going somewhere so I can’t put in that much effort…”
“Wait a minute. Let’s make a deal!”
“Is there a reason I should spare you? Even when you were human you ate human flesh and despised people. Now that you’ve become a monster I can’t just spare you.”
“When I die my Jecht Lord will know.”
“Ahhh… Is that all? If you want to live show a little more sincerity.”
Azadin was wearing a helmet to avoid people’s attention so we couldn’t see his expression but his voice was clearly filled with disappointment.
“We have money and supplies that we looted and hid.”
“….”
Donair said it without much thought but Azadin stopped when he heard it.
‘Hey? Look at this kid?’
Donair was taken aback by the unexpected reaction.
“Yes. You hid it? But your crimes are too serious to be kept alive with such materials.”
“The Kingdom of Bthuma will be attacked soon. What do you think?”
“Where did you find that information?”

“That’s what the ogres we killed just a while ago said. It seems like the followers of the Kurt clan are planning to attack Btuma! Oh yes. If you want I can guide you to where we killed that ogre army!”
“Ogre?”
Azadin’s heart sank when he heard those words.
I knew the Naga Empire was going to attack but the Ogres are also attacking the Kingdom of Btuma?
‘If it was an ogre who said something about the Empire attacking I was going to kill him but since it was an ogre who said something like that I’ll have to look into it more closely. If I had killed him it would have been a big problem.’
If that’s true things are really serious.
“Okay. Guide me.”
Azadin gave orders to Donair and took out a copy of the New King’s Book wrapping it around the hilt of his Azure Steel longsword Parangi.
And he approached Donair’s subordinates who were still alive.
-Shhh!
As the blue light cut through their torsos pure white flames rose from their bodies.
“!!”
“Ugh?!”
“this….”
They fell down with white flames rising.
“I guess we just have to keep one alive so that it’s easier to manage.”
“….”
“These guys are vicious murderers who practiced cannibalism in the Land of Lantaric. I have long been ordered by the current Land of Lantaric Lord Guillaumebald to punish them so this is a legitimate exercise of law.”
Azadin declared this to the astonished crowd and pointed his sword at Donair.
“Give me guidance.”
“….”
Donair clicked his tongue inwardly upon seeing Azadin’s attitude.
Only then will the justification be clear. Even if all the information and assets are handed over it won’t be easy to survive.
‘But I can’t not do it. If I don’t you’ll kill me painfully here and now.’
Donair guided Azadin holding on to a slim hope.
*********
The local bandits who had been targeting the Donair gang now thought their revenge was complete and tried to bid farewell to Azadin.
“Thank you for killing that monster.”
“Now that we have avenged our comrades we will now take our leave.”
“There are also injured people.”
There were some who were injured while fighting the Donair gang. Then Azadin gestured to Shati.
“Shati. Heal them.”
“Huh? Seriously?”
Shati asked back.
Anyone can see that they are a bunch of thieves.
Using these I was able to check the fighting power and characteristics of the Donair gang but I didn’t feel close enough to go out of my way to treat them.
The green magic used by Shati can quickly heal wounds by activating a person’s regenerative power without any special catalyst but it is not free enough to be used on just anyone.
“I’m thinking of hiring them.”
“yes?”
The thieves looked at Azadin in confusion.
“I’m late in introducing myself. My name is Adan a Taoist priest from Cheonggeondang.”
“….”
As he listened Shati’s face began to rot as if he had leftover grilled mushrooms out in the air for five days.
‘What about the Taoist priest Adan of Cheonggeondang…. When he was appointed as a Taoist priest people looked at him with suspicion but when it came time to use him he used him shamelessly.’
“As you can see there are many people who seek the teachings of the Cheonggeondang so we need people to guard them. What do you think?”
“How much is the maintenance fee?”
“One silver coin a day and a healing spell.”
“….”
A salary of one silver coin was the starting amount for a typical mercenary.
They were all equipped with plate armor on their chests and had outstanding combat abilities so they could all be called Doppelsöldner elite soldiers who received twice the pay of regular soldiers.
“Couldn’t you raise the salary a little more?”
“We have a lot of mouths to feed so that might be a bit difficult. You might be okay right now but if you don’t treat it properly those bugs will burrow into your wounds and you’ll end up like them? Think about the price of healing magic.”
“….”
The bandits were shocked to see the Donair gang still burning and dying.
Are you saying that you became infected by the wounds you received while fighting them and became like them? If so the value of healing magic cannot be calculated in money.
‘No way. My green magic can’t counteract nether magic.’
Shati didn’t know what expression to make at Azadin’s bluff.
“Oh I understand.”
The bandits decided to accept Azadin’s offer of employment.
*********
Shati treated the bandits’ wounds. As expected there was no sign of nether infection.
But she also pretended to care about them by telling a few lies perhaps because she was with Azadin.
“I almost got into trouble.”
“Uh… is that so?”
“Yes. If the treatment is delayed even just a little bit you will suffer the pain of your entire body rotting away and then….”
Shati made a pitiful expression and carefully pointed to the corpses that were still burning and dying.
The thieves were completely captivated by Shati’s beautiful appearance and shuddered at the horrible deaths of the Donair gang. Shati was seen as a goddess who had saved their lives when they were on the verge of terrible destruction.
‘You’re doing well.’
Azadin who had been watching from afar retrieved the copy of the New King’s Book he had been using and put Donair in front.
After walking for about two hours and crossing the hill a huge number of corpses strewn across the hill came into view. An ogre bearing the banner of the Tooth King had been brutally killed.
“oh my god….”
The mercenary bandits and the Qing dynasty members were terrified by the number of corpses and the sheer number of troops. They all saw Donair again.
