Night of the Soulless Heathens – 170

#170. Northern Threat 2
Meanwhile Azadin was checking on Donair’s group through the Emperor’s voice.
The Emperor’s Voice took upon itself the role of a seer scouting the surroundings and relaying information to Azadin.
Although they weren’t connected by magic like the Seonkyo just the Emperor’s voice explaining things was helpful enough.
It wasn’t like that before.
The Emperor’s voice is an artificial spirit. An artificial spirit without a master will try to consume as little magic power as possible for its own maintenance.
Nevertheless seeing that he was so cooperative with Azadin it was either because he had been promoted to the second rank or because he had contributed a lot but in either case there was nothing wrong with being cooperative.
[Be careful Azadin. There are about 8 armed men heading this way.]
“A group of about eight armed men? Are they them? The murderous monsters that the roadside bandits were looking for?”
[I can’t be sure but I can feel the nether magic. Also there are ogre and goblin corpses lying around these guys which is surprising. Almost a whole company of corpses are piled up.]
“Eight men took on one company?”
If that’s true then they are probably the killer monsters the thieves were looking for.
“Hey can you convey my voice to the bandits we passed by? If you explain it well enough without making them feel uncomfortable you might be able to gain their help.”
If an artificial spirit suddenly spoke to them the bandits might run away in surprise. But the emperor’s voice made an unexpected suggestion.
[What if I imitate the comrades who were killed by those thieves? If I explain the situation in an eerie voice won’t they come to me on their own?]
“Why does the Emperor’s dignified voice say such a number…”
[Should I not do it?]
“No I’m fine. I’m fine but I’m confused because you’re suddenly being so aggressive. Is this because I got promoted?”
[There are many who have stopped being messengers either voluntarily or involuntarily. Since they have remaining magical power they only protect the remaining messengers.]
“what?”
Azadin was startled by the Emperor’s voice.
It is nonsense to say that there are those who quit being messengers either voluntarily or involuntarily.
Of course the Herald Clan is not completely invincible. They can suffer injuries or even permanent damage making it impossible to carry out their missions.
Or when they got older and their skills declined they would retire and hand over their position to a successor.
But if that is the case with retirement it would not be said that the Emperor’s voice still has magical power.
The disappearance of the messenger leaving a vacancy.

It is a roundabout way of saying that someone was killed or dismissed.
It’s hard to believe that he died while performing his mission… There was a recent rebellion by the Arael tribe.
“Could it be that the Senate killed the messengers who supported the rebellious tribe of Arael?”
[It is not something I can say Azadin. He relayed the information to them as if it were the voice of their comrades asking them to take revenge or he would curse them.]
“Oh you’re even going so far as to curse? Then I’ll come running until my feet sweat.”
[That’s true. Everyone is scared but they don’t run away. They are working hard to be free from the curse and to avenge their comrades.]
As the Emperor’s voice said the bandits took out their weapons from their camp and headed towards us.
“You’re planning on making the thieves fight. You have a bad personality.”
Shati was surprised by Azadin’s intention to use the emperor’s voice to draw the bandits into the fight.
“But that’s reasonable. The thieves want revenge and we can’t just leave them alone right?”
Zibek defended Azadin drawing his own sword and examining the blade wiping the dirt off it with his leather strap.
“Let’s all stop talking nonsense and evacuate the people! Let’s join those bandits!”
Azadin retreated while protecting the refugees and joined the oncoming bandits.
And almost at the same time the Donair party who had come down from the hill arrived in front of Azadin’s group.
*********
“Isn’t that kid from the messenger clan?”
The bandit king Donair was delighted to discover Azadin’s group.
Inquisitor Jecht had ordered the Rogue King Donair to find Azadin and Xebek. But here’s what he would find.
‘Ject that guy is a real wizard. How did he know that the messenger clan would cross the border? Or was it just a coincidence?’
Donair felt his body tremble.
In the past he had been treated badly by Azadin’s gang.
But now he is not the same as before. What about now? Even if the opponent is the messenger clan called the soulless blasphemous slayer of the new king wouldn’t their power be superior since they are already accustomed to monsters?
Then Azadin was seen drawing his bow.
-Wedge!
An arrow is flying.
It’s an incredibly fast arrow but it’s fired while you’re looking at it from a distance so you can see the arrow flying.
“It’s obvious! This kid!”
Donair’s men tried to deflect the arrows with their shields.
however….
-puck!
The arrow pierced the head of the man holding the shield. He had clearly seen the arrow’s trajectory and tried to swipe his shield to deflect the arrow but the arrow had spun around and changed its trajectory hitting him in the head.
“Hahaha. You idiot! The arrows of the messenger clan change their trajectory! Don’t you know that?”
Even though my comrade’s head was pierced by an arrow everyone just laughed it off as if it was nothing.
The person who was shot in the head also pulled out the arrow in embarrassment. It was a serious injury that would have killed a normal person. However surprisingly when he pulled out the arrow dark red insects began to wriggle out of his wound and filled the wound.
The soldiers of the Cheonggeun Party were terrified when they saw that sight.
“Hic?!”
“What is that?!”

“It’s a monster!”
“Oh that’s it…..”
The image of a broken tree on the side of the road came to everyone’s mind.
A monster with such great strength that it can throw people away and break large trees. These are the monsters that kill and eat people.
The one running was a human but the people trembled in fear when they saw the shadow of a monster in the human.
‘The funny thing is you guys are also part of the family.’
Even though they were neutralized by Arael’s medicine they were still monsters that had been wielding death the day before.
“Should I split it somewhere?”
Azadin fired a series of arrows made with cheap iron tips.
Lee Seon-gung displayed the skill of the Jeonryong clan by firing several arrows one after another but they all hit the target at the same time. Then three arrows hit one person at the same time.
The opponent screams when he tries to deflect the arrow with his shield and gets hit by other arrows but soon recovers from the arrow wound.
“It seems like an opponent that can’t be killed with arrows.”
Although the Qing Dynasty Taoist priest Jiswa was confused Azadin continued to shoot arrows slowing down the enemy’s steps and splitting them so that the eight enemies could not rush in at once.
And then the thieves came out.
The bandits enraged at losing their comrades and having their territory invaded rushed forward shooting arrows and swinging polearms at the advancing monsters.
Blood spurted and a gust of wind rose.
The well-armed bandits fought very well as if they were skilled in martial arts. It was enough to make the young men of the Qing Dynasty feel chills. They were probably quite famous mercenaries.
“Wow. These guys are fighting so well. Donner!”
“There are limits to human form!”
“Do it!”
The monsters revealed their true colors.
While they watched the swordsmanship of the bandits who had come to seek revenge they enjoyed their superiority like a cat teasing a cornered baby mouse thinking that if they could just muster up their strength they could kill them at will.
The bandits who had been campaigning until just a moment ago were suddenly cornered.
“I understand what you mean but I can’t stand to watch.”
Jibek couldn’t stand seeing that and stepped forward.
I knew that Azadin was deliberately trying to weaken the power of the thieves by teaming them up with the Donair gang but I couldn’t just stand by and watch them die before my eyes.
“This guy…..”
“Isn’t that the knight?!”
The Donair gang recognized Zibek and pounced on him. When Zect gave them orders he also ordered them to capture Zibek.
But Jibek calmly greeted the thieves.
“Lord Brand sends his regards.”
At that moment the rusty iron hammer flew out of Jibek’s hand and fell to the ground. The divine magic of the King’s Church was activated striking those who had just transformed with the light of the King’s Fire.
“Ugh!”
And then Jibek who had jumped in swung his longsword and cut off the arm of the Donair gang and then he struck diagonally at an angle to the right and cut off the calf behind the knee of their hind leg.
The bandits were also quite skilled swordsmen but their skills were so refined that they looked like child’s war games.
Jibek quickly cut off the limbs of his opponents forcing them to their knees and then swung his sword horizontally to cut off the heads of the Donair gang like an executioner beheading a criminal.
However he did not let his guard down and recited a prayer and cast a purification spell burning the black bugs that continued to pour out of Bane’s body with white flames.
“Ugh!”
“The light of the king’s flower!”
The Donair gang couldn’t even look at the dazzling light coming from Jibek.
Although they had gained great power by becoming monsters they were more vulnerable to the light of the King’s Fire so when they met a proper paladin like Jibek they were even more at a loss.
“…What the heck? That guy. Was he that skilled?”
When Donair was confused this time Azadin rushed at him.
*********
“Stop it!”
“This kid!”
Donair’s subordinates grew larger spewing out bugs from their bodies and swinging their arms and legs. The weapons held in their enlarged hands and feet and the enlarged arms themselves flew at Azadin with a terrifying sense of weight.
However Azadin spread his ground spider and slipped under their attacks ignoring the others and standing right in front of Donair’s nose.
“Hello Donair. Why are you here?”
“Ugh… You! You’re the messenger clan from back then!”
Donair tried to fight back against Azadin but before he could Azadin’s hand pierced Donair’s left eye.
He bent his fingers brought them together and lightly struck his eye tearing open his left eye and the entire fundus.
“Ugh!”
For the current Donair the extent of his eyes being blown away was not that serious of an injury.
However a burning pain spread throughout Donair’s body from the wound where Azadin had struck. Azadin’s attack whose entire body was filled with the light of the King’s Fire as a copy of the Book of the New King caused Donair pain.
“Ahhhhh!”
Donair rolled on the ground in unbearable pain. Azadin kicked Donair away with his foot.
“Ugh!”
“Are you joking too much? I can’t kill you so easily just because of Sir Brand’s face but you’re joking so much.”
“This kid. That old man’s…”
“You must die painfully.”
“Don’t make me laugh!”
Donair reflexively swung his weapon but Azadin dodged the attack and kicked Donair in the torso.
