Night of the Soulless Heathens – 167

#167. The Rampage of the Faction 4
Moreover it weighed heavily on his heart that Azadin who was an Aragasa cared about the Hybrisians.
“You seem to care about the people of Btuma Azadin. When the Age of Jupiter comes people will die anyway. We only act on the basis of rationality.”
“They actively sacrifice people and don’t feel any emotion about the sacrifice. That’s disgusting rationalism. Do you know that that so-called rationalism is actually irrational?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Don’t ignore human emotions. Emotions can captivate people and bring out their full potential. If you simply dismiss and insult human emotions because they are rational their anger will always be watching your ankles. It may be fine when things are going well but if you stumble over something like a rock they will bite you like a pack of hungry lynxes rushing for a bone. Where is rationalism in such a disgusting attitude? Isn’t that not rationalism but simply a rotten human nature?”
“That kind of thinking is possible.”
Arael was purely amazed by Azadin.
“You are not like Aragatha. Hey Azadin. The Senate has Aldis and Kazas looking out for you but they have to be mindful of the other elders. And the one with the highest decision-making authority is none other than Chief Hatir. You haven’t even talked to Chief Hatir have you? On the other hand I am the highest decision-maker on our side. If I win the fight between me and the Senate it will be more helpful for you to carry out your intentions.”
Arael still persuaded Azadin based on rationality.
“Do you think I’m interested in such power struggles?”
“Then you should be even more interested. You want to save the Hybris people right? If you want to save someone you have to have power. Even if you are not interested in power struggles you should force yourself to learn and study to gain power. Yes. If you have the ability and opportunity but do not seize power and do not make an effort to protect the people then you are lazy.”
“That’s funny. Arael that’s certainly true within your rationality. But that’s why I can’t tolerate someone like you.”
“okay?”
“I will prevent such a massacre from happening in Btuma.”
“Because this kid keeps telling me to come see him.”
“Lord Arael. Even if you don’t kill him why don’t you capture him alive? If you capture him and keep him in custody and then release him after the matter is over wouldn’t he naturally be convinced? He’s still alive because he hasn’t tasted the bitterness yet.”
The four members of the Flower Bird and Moon were furious when Azadin said he would stop what was happening in Btooma. However Arael shook her head.
“No leave it alone. If Azadin prevents something like Koral Sahar from happening in Bthuma he will inevitably clash with the Senate which is allied with the Naga Empire. He may say he won’t take my side but he will eventually clash with the Senate. Right?”
“….”
“Let’s clash with the Senate first Azadin. You may go.”
As a result Arael had told Azadin about their original plan and the Senate’s next plan.
“Hey Paladin. I’ll let you go alive.”
Indim glared at his opponent Jibek who had pointed his sword at him.
“You said they were the four people of Hwajopungwol?”
“okay.”

“Are you sure you’re a renter?”
“?”
Jibek called Indim that on purpose. For a moment Indim didn’t understand the situation.
Jibek whose hardened face seemed the furthest thing from joking seemed to have never imagined that he would be mocked.
“….”
“It’s not good to see someone of high status in the messenger clan barking and not being able to control their emotions like a street thug. If you are in charge of an important position in a clan I hope you will try to have some dignity.”
“You little brat!”
“…Let’s go Jibek.”
Azadin again stood between Indim and Xibek and declared a withdrawal.
Because Arael had decided to let Azadin go Indim suffered from the taunts of Xibek.
“Oh right.”
Azadin who was taking a step forward suddenly looked back.
“What now?”
“What will we do with the Cheonggeun Party? What will we do if they run wild again?”
“Tell them that those who have become their subjects should not gather together. Especially not in the swamps. And…..”
Arael threw a vial to Azadin.
“If they go berserk lightly dip this on an arrowhead and aim it at them. Since it’s pure even a small amount should be effective.”
“What is this?”
“It’s the blood of the Shadow Shark King. Be careful it’s pure.”
“…Did you drink it too?”
“No. I just have it. It’s a sign that the Senate has been studying nether magic.”
Arael said something meaningful and looked towards the waterfall.
*********
As Azadin left the Emperor’s Treasury he retrieved both keys to the treasury that had been stuck outside the door.
-Kurururung!
Once again the doors to the treasure vault began to close.
“So this is how it is.”
Azadin took the key to the treasure vault.
“…Is that okay? Captain? The captain’s older sister…..”
“Little brother.”
“What if my little brother is trapped inside?”
When Scott asked Azadin shrugged.
“There was a waterfall. There shouldn’t be any problem escaping inside. Maybe there’s some sort of one-way section?”
“Is it okay to handle things so roughly?”
Shati asked out of curiosity but Azadin seemed quite certain.
“If Aragasa had already raided this treasure vault why would the key be outside? It was made so that those inside wouldn’t be able to steal it without permission. Perhaps the emperor could not have imagined that he and his supporters would decline. He always intended to open and close the door while maintaining complete control of power in this area and keeping enemies out.”
“But aren’t you going to fight with that younger brother later Captain? The younger brother has been taking care of the captain in his own way. Even though he says things that make you unlucky.”

At that moment everyone except Scott smiled bitterly.
Arael says it’s unlucky. What about anyone else? Scott?
“It’s okay. Outside the Baron’s castle there should be people from the Qing Dynasty and refugees from Coral Sahar and it wouldn’t be a good idea to have Arael meet them. Can’t you hear the commotion outside?”
“at all.”
“I can’t hear it either.”
Nagain Shati who had good ears also tilted his head.
“If I was going to take the key and get locked up in the first place Arael would have taken some measures. She would have had someone guard the key. Since she didn’t I guess that means I can take it.”
Azadin put the Emperor’s key in his backpack and walked out.
As Azadin had predicted outside of Baron Adyrov’s castle the Qinggeondang Taoist priest and the others who had regained their senses were waiting for Azadin and his party.
To be exact those who had lost their families and suddenly turned violent with their followers and killed their families with their own hands had turned into an angry mob and the Cheonggeondang Taoist priest and the Cheonggeondang members who supported him had pale complexions and were cowering like dogs drenched in rain with their tails down.
“I hope you are safe. What happened to that woman?”
Everyone’s eyes were focused on Azadin and his group.
“Hey Taoist. Can I talk to you for a moment?”
Azadin beckoned to the Qingjiandang Taoist monk.
“What’s going on?”
“It’s just that according to that woman if too many of your people gather in one place they tend to run wild. She said it gets worse especially if you gather in a swamp or wetland.”
“yes?”
“It’s the age of Jupiter and when the power of the Nether is strong it’s natural for the followers of the Grim Stalker to run wild when they gather in the swamp. It’s similar to the followers of the God of Death gathering and holding a rally. If that’s true and if that fact is made public the responsibility for today’s rampage will fall on the Qing Dynasty who irresponsibly distributed elixir to the people. What do you think?”
There is no need to think or say anything. The people who are now angry are gathering and if it is true that the accident was caused by the mistake of the Cheonggeondang they will tear the Cheonggeondang Taoist priests to pieces alive.
“That’s not true. It’s a ridiculous accusation. The woman must have done something.”
“First of all is this Nether entity really called the Swamp Tree Grimsloun?”
“…That’s right.”
“So did that woman feed you something or put a spell on you?”
“I’m not sure about that. Um maybe something got burned on the food?”
The Cheonggeondang Taoist priest claimed that everything was Arael’s fault. From his perspective it was natural to want to believe that.
“Ha. How pathetic. For now I’ve locked the woman in there. Tell the people that they’ll starve to death in there with nothing to eat.”
“Yes? But if you say that without verifying it will people believe you? People will be convinced if there is a dead body.”
“You probably convinced people that it was that woman’s doing while we were gone right? You can’t go back on your word now but you’re going to catch that woman yourself? I’ll tell you that woman is a really powerful God King Slayer. Even if everyone here comes at you she’ll kill about half of them and get away leisurely. Are you prepared to see that happen?”
“Oh no… that’s it.”
He had already been subdued and defeated by Arael and his men. The Cheonggeondang Taoist priests also knew that it was impossible to subdue Arael and his men by force.
“It seems like you’re in a difficult situation as well. Would you mind leaving this place to me? I’ll make sure it’s all sorted out so you don’t feel bad.”
“Are you talking?”
“Okay. Leave it to me. I’ll make sure no harm comes to you.”
When Azadin consulted with the Taoist monk of the Qing Dynasty Jibek opposed it.
“They are a cult. No they worship a monster called Grimthrown the Nether’s messenger? They are not just a cult but a heretic. If it is true that their actions caused this rampage aren’t they responsible for everything? And they have already plundered people. It is time for them to pay the price.”
“I think so too Jibek. But right now there are people outside who could become rioters at any time and they have seen humans transform into monsters with their followers. If the authority of the Cheongjeon Party which has some organized power is harmed in this situation people will become rioters and start killing each other. After killing the Cheongjeon Party they will kill their followers out of fear. Can you control that situation?”
“ah.”
Zibek also thought Azadin’s words were reasonable. In order to resolve the current situation peacefully it was necessary to empower the Qing Dynasty without harming their authority.
“I’m embarrassed. I was short-sighted.”
“I don’t like these guys either. Well then let’s do it. First we have to disperse the people peacefully.”
Azadin and the Taoist priest went to the square in front of the Baron’s castle.
