Night of the Soulless Heathens – 150

#150. Quartz Throne 4
Then Azadin asked.
“There’s no magic related to underwater breathing in Hwajopungwol?”
There is no water breathing magic in the book of magic Flower Bird Wind and Moon. That is what made them stamp their feet here.
“And you won’t be the only ones here. There will be someone performing the ritual near the throne of Korasaar. Who will it be?”
“Huh? That’s it….”
The servants of Aragasa members of the Corasar peddler guild were perplexed.
Is Azadin the enemy? Should we fight him?
While they were unable to make a judgment Azadin approached them with confidence.
Just as an army without a commander becomes a rabble those without decision-making authority are bound to be seduced by those who act with conviction.
Azadin took the lead in the situation quite naturally and asked Scott.
“Scott can you give them a water breathing spell?”
“Damn it Captain. It’s so cold my body is tense. Those muscles.”
“Can you help me breathe underwater? No? Just tell me that.”
“Of course it is possible.”
“Breathing underwater?”
The servants were taken aback by Scott’s words.
The water level continues to increase and the subway is flooding but you’re offering to help me breathe underwater? It’s like a lifeline suddenly being lowered from hell.
‘Come to think of it isn’t Azadin Arael’s younger brother also a messenger?’
‘It’s not like we can win against them anyway. They’re just messengers.’
‘He is Arael’s younger brother so even if you have the ability to harm him you shouldn’t harm him.’
‘Is there a need to fight?’
The servants’ minds were inclined towards avoiding battle.
“Okay Scott! Cast a spell.”
“Yes Captain.”
Scott cast a spell on them to allow them to breathe underwater.

“The crocodile is already dead so you can just go back. It’s not that far. If anyone asks you about my problem while I’m out go find Elder Sebali and ask him to protect you.”
Although Azadin passed them on to Elder Sebali the servants were moved to see that Azadin had made an agreement with Elder Sebali and was helping them.
“Thank you very much.”
“thank you.”
“But who else is left inside? The person in charge here? Is he near the throne?”
Azadin asked slyly as he sent his servants away.
Everyone was suspicious but when Azadin mentioned Elder Sebali they naturally assumed he was already on their side.
“This is Lady Dimia.”
“Dimia of the Flower?”
“yes.”
“Is there only one of her?”
“There are Nagas and there is Mr. Krasley.”
“Who is Krasli?”
“I am a former messenger and combat instructor for our Korasarr Bobusang Guild.”
“Ah. I see. I see. How many people are gathered to go out?”
“There are about 30 of them. There is one leader named Nagaraja.”
“Yeah. Who else is going to Raja? There must be some big guys there too.”
“One out of ten is very large.”
“One out of five is a wizard or has human form.”
“Okay I understand. Everyone be careful.”
Azadin extracted the information and sent the messenger servants back to the water without engaging in combat.
*********
“That’s amazing.”
Zibek was impressed by Azadin’s actions.
At first he was prepared for battle. The problem was that the water was too cold. Even now his hands are so cold that he has difficulty holding a sword properly.
If I had fought those servants in that situation would I have been able to demonstrate my skills? And what’s more there were more troops deep inside?
“You’re saying that you’re just going to talk your way out of a fight?”
“If you say it like that it makes it sound like I’m deliberately committing fraud.”
“Wasn’t it a scam?”
“I did have some control over the situation.”
“How did you do it?”
“It’s nothing. I always act confidently and friendly but I never say anything that could be judged as an enemy relationship and I say things vaguely. For example if I mention Elder Sebali they’ll think I’m on Elder Sebali’s side that is on their side. And when I go to their superiors they’ll say “I told you I knew Elder Sebali. I thought you were on our side.” Of course you could ask me right now ‘Are you exactly an enemy or ally of the Arael tribe?’”
“You didn’t do that.”
“That’s right. They’re afraid too. In this situation they’re clearly against me. That’s why I made it so that it could be interpreted in the best possible way in an ambiguous situation. They’ll only get information that’s favorable to them and believe it.”
“Isn’t that a scam?”
“Let them believe what they want to believe. I just responded to their inner voice. In fact they could have sent a few of them to Dimia to report. But they didn’t.”
The servants who were there just now also did not want to fight Azadin. And what if some of them returned to Dimia and reported that Azadin was the enemy? They would have to breathe underwater and lose their way back to the surface.

“Oh but since they sent me let’s rest a bit. It’s cold. We can’t fight like this.”
Azadin said so and took off his clothes and squeezed them dry. His breath was cold perhaps because he had come out of the cold water.
“Is there anything around that I can light a fire on? I don’t think it would be good to go out with your body temperature so low.”
Azadin looked around but there was nothing to light a fire on. There were only piles of ash and the marks of a cauldron hanging there.
Perhaps the servants from earlier were also enduring the sudden drop in temperature by lighting a campfire and cooking a meal.
“We’ve already used up all the firewood we can use. Let’s do that to raise our body temperature Captain.”
Scott suggested something.
“What is that?”
Azadin was taken aback by Scott’s sudden proposal.
“You know that thing? That thing.”
Unable to hold back any longer Shati asked.
“…Something dirty?”
“No I mean a copy of the Shinwangjinseo.”
“ah.”
When Azadin took out a copy of the New King’s Book the one he had used before had also regained some of its luster.
“Sir you’re not suggesting that we light a fire with a copy of the New King’s Book are you?”
Jibek asked in confusion.
“No it’s not that. I used this to infuse magic power into my body so it got quite hot. Last time…”
“That’s how you warm up your body… Achoo!”
Even Jibek who was saying that was sneezing. Everyone was in terrible condition after having to go through the icy water stream.
“Well wouldn’t it be better to keep it charged just in case?”
Azadin asked as he looked at the glowing copies of the Book of the New King but Scott shook his head.
“I’ve seen the captain for a while now and he’s the type that can’t be spared.”
“No. I used this at a critical moment to catch you right away. I broke that shadow demon of yours with the Book of the New King.”
“So how much did you gain Captain?”
“It’s a great advantage to have you as an ally.”
“Hahaha. That’s a 120 out of 100 answer. This is really something. This is an employer I like.”
“yes?”
“But let’s write it anyway. A copy of the Shinwangjinseo. We need to raise our body temperature anyway…”
Scott gave Azadin a copy of the New King’s Book and began the ritual.
Let Azadin absorb the white magic charged in the Shinwangjinseo. With it Azadin’s body temperature rises quite quickly and even the surroundings become warm.
“Uh… It’s much more powerful than last time.”
“Of course. It’s only natural since the throne is nearby.”
Scott said this and helped Azadin circulate his magic.
Inside Azadin’s body there was a transformed book of magic of the wind and moon which was rejecting the intrusion of other magical powers. However by calming down the book of magic of the wind and moon and circulating the white magical power from the copy of the Book of the New King along the magical pulse of his body Azadin could feel the minor pains in his body disappearing his stamina recovering and his strength surging.
Moreover the heat was felt by others around him.
“Oh…. it’s warm.”
“It’s not quite a bonfire but it’s pretty warm.”
“Can I touch it?”
Shati was curious and then touched Azadin’s body without Azadin’s permission.
“for a moment.”
Azadin tried to stop her but Shati liked it and stroked Azadin’s skin.
“It’s warm! And your skin is really nice. As expected some Nagaraja keep humans as pets. There’s a reason for that…”
“Shati. It’s cold. I’m a little embarrassed so can you step aside?”
When Azadin made that request Shati was startled and fell away from Azadin.
“But wouldn’t this copy of the New King’s Book be even more powerful if Jibek were a knight of the King’s Church?”
“The magic book of the King’s Church is similar to the Book of the New King but different. Perhaps… this is something too difficult for my wisdom to understand.”
“Would you like to try reading it?”
“I don’t think it would hurt to give it a try Sir Jibek.”
Azadin gave me a copy of the New King’s Book.
Zibek who accepted it hesitated. It was a great disrespect for a knight of the King’s Church to read this.
The secret of the leaked kings an unjust grimoire that undermines the authority of the Yaegasu clan.
However when he thought about his past self who had been bound by the precepts and condoned the atrocities of Prince Kozel he realized that in order to achieve true justice he had to become a being that transcended the precepts.
“where….”
Jibek was reading the copy of the New King’s Book with great concentration when he was startled.
“Ugh!”
A huge headache was felt. Jibek looked up from his copy of the New King’s Book.
I couldn’t read a single word but just concentrating hard on it made my head spin and lights flickered before my eyes.
“I can’t tell if it’s fortunate or unfortunate.”
“What a pity. What a blessing. Without any courage. You should be sorry that you cannot have such an amazing book of magic.”
Shati was disappointed that she couldn’t have the book even though she saw it.
Meanwhile Azadin neatly absorbed the white magic power of one copy of the New King’s Book.
“Wow… This is going so well. Is it different from last time?”
“I’ve tried it once so I’m used to it and I like it here Captain. I think it’s because the Korasaar throne is nearby.”
“Hmm. But am I possibly sucking up the light of the King here? I came here to stop that…”
Azadin became anxious and asked Scott.
“Ah. Hmm.”
“why?”
“Maybe it’s because your body is warm Captain?”
Azadin was taken aback when he heard that.
“Wait a minute. This thing is absorbing the light of the King’s Flower? Huh?”
Indeed Azadin could also see the situation.
The copy of the New King’s Book which Azadin had clearly just drained and exhausted began to glow faintly again.
Compared to the usual brightness of the eyes it is like a firefly so you wouldn’t notice it unless you strain your eyes but even so the recovery speed is incredibly fast.
The Korasaar throne was nearby so it seemed to be recovering its white magic quickly.
“Wow. This is killing me…..”
“No wait. Isn’t that it?”
Azadin frowned.
“Isn’t this how you weaken the light of the King’s Flower?!”
Azadin now knew how Arael’s party had weakened the light of the King’s Flower.
The Arael tribe will likely have a significant number of copies of the Book of the New King and they will be draining the power of the Book of the New King here while drawing white magic from the throne.
