Night of the Soulless Heathens – 141

“Okay Captain. Then let’s go with all our might. Are you feeling a little more energetic?”
A possessed rat speaks to Scott in his own voice.
“Yeah yeah.”
Azadin put some dried fruit in his mouth and chewed it as he ran out into the rain.
It was a heavy rain that made it hard to tell whether it was day or night. Inside the Nagas were watching with shining eyes to see if there were any people and they were searching for supplies from some Naga villages and moving them to their base.
The Sea Serpent Nagas were conducting a special patrol looking around quite thoroughly perhaps because some of the patrol unit had died and gone missing.
These sea serpents are called servants and flying fish fly around and dive into the water to keep watch over the surroundings.
“The flying fish is coming! The enchanted flying fish!”
“where?”
“From behind the captain!”
“okay.”
Azadin ran up the building grabbed the roof with his hands and slid down under the eaves. The eaves were already partially submerged in water so when Azadin hung down his ankles were submerged.
“There are crocodiles in the water. Be careful!”
“Ugh! This is a three-story building?”
Azadin looked and saw that there was indeed a crocodile in the water. It was not a very large crocodile about 1.4 meters long but it was quite hostile as if the Nagas had brought it.
Hanging from the eaves of a three-story building my feet were submerged in water and there was a crocodile. The storm that hit Coral Sahar is serious.
‘Why did the crocodile have to be here at this time… If I hang on with one hand will this eaves hold up?’
The timber supporting the eaves creaks because the tiles are soaked through with rain and are incredibly heavy.
Azadin braced himself by holding onto the eaves timber with one hand planting both feet against the wall and drawing his sword with the other.
If an alligator attacks cut it. The problem is that when you swing your sword there will be a huge impact so will this building be able to withstand it?
“I will cast a spell of enchantment.”
Scott’s little rat opens his eyes wide and his eyes are bloodshot and about to pop out. The crocodile spots Azadin and approaches but is caught in Scott’s magic and becomes dazed.
“Whew. You caught it. That’s a relief.”
“….”
“why?”

“No. You did well.”
Azadin was honestly impressed by Scott’s performance which was of great help.
Originally I didn’t expect much when I accepted Scott as my comrade. Who would have thought that someone I had killed and kept alive would be so multi-talented? I had heard from my master that orc wizards were multi-talented but after experiencing it myself I realized that it was truly amazing.
“But Scott. You serve the Kurt gods the Kurt pantheon. And yet you can help me like this?”
“There’s no way the captain would think of something so stupid as to test me right?”
“Yeah yeah.”
“Don’t ask me such stupid questions. But if you’re going to answer honestly if I leave it like this those guys will think they’re so great right?”
“….”
“That’s why Nagaraja asked the captain to make a deal in the first place right? Even though we’re from the same Kurt clan we should be the best among them. Right?”
‘What should I say? This is really. It’s fortunate for humanity but humanity is also divided in various ways because everyone is only interested in their own interests.’
Azadin confirmed that the flying fish had passed and climbed back up onto the roof to begin moving again.
Near the lighthouse there were Nagas much larger than the other Nagas over two meters tall wandering around dragging anchors tied to huge ropes.
Seeing the Naga wizards who have transformed into humans next to those Nagas it seems difficult to break through them through mere combat.
“I guess I’ll have to infiltrate well.”
“Ah Captain. We have to be careful.”
“why?”
“There is a foresight in the sky.”
“What? You mean foresight?”
Azadin still wearing his mask folded his hands together like a telescope and looked through them at the sky around the lighthouse.
Indeed the foresight bird was seen flying.
“This is giving me a headache.”
If you leave the foresight alone it will be clearly visible when you climb up the outer wall of the lighthouse. However if you attack it it will immediately alert the foresight caster to your presence.
As we tried to sneak inside the lighthouse while avoiding the gaze of the foresight watchers there were quite a few sea serpent nagas at the entrance to the lighthouse which were guards.
“It’s not easy to climb up because it’s raining.”
Azadin first felt the bow while thinking about how to enter.
The bowstring was hung on a steel bar taken from a heavy crossbow which was quite heavy. Azadin put an arrow on it and pulled it back.
If you just put an arrow on it the bowstring will break the back of the arrow so you put a bowstring on it pull the bowstring with the bowstring and then put the arrow on it.
Azadin pulled back the arrow and took a deep breath.
“What are you going to do Captain?”
As Scott was wondering suddenly the heavens and earth lit up. The sky was covered in lightning.
At the same time Azadin fired an arrow.
-Pfft!
The head of the Naga near the lighthouse entrance was blown off by Azadin’s arrow. The skull was literally torn off and the top part flew off like a watermelon cut with a knife. Even the most powerful Naga could not survive this force.
-Boom!
And the thunder that followed drowned out all sound.
The guards standing guard did not even notice that their comrade had fallen.
“good…!”

Azadin fired another arrow and ran forward.
This time the target was a giant Naga that was over 2 meters tall. When an arrow hit the head of this Naga 25% of its head was blown off like a watermelon being broken.
“no?!”
By the time the Naga wizard realized this Azadin had already jumped right in front of him.
-Pfft!
Azadin swung his iron bow without drawing his sword and struck the Naga wizard in the head. The Naga wizard fell down with a dent in his temple.
“As expected it’s sturdy. Even if I blow its head off it won’t bend.”
Azadin immediately entered the entrance of the lighthouse. Inside the lighthouse there was a long spiral staircase. Azadin quickly ran up the stairs and walls.
And let’s open the door at the top of the lighthouse….
-Squeak.
Horrible dizzying nether script was carved into every inch of the floor ceiling and walls.
“hmm?”
A middle-aged man sitting in a rocking chair in the middle of the room stood up.
“Ah. Who is this? Isn’t it Azadin?”
Elder Sebali Etar recognized Azadin and welcomed him.
“Do you know me?”
“Isn’t he famous? The son of a traitor a cursed child born from the curse of service. Azadin of Muan. He’s grown up so much but it would be foolish not to recognize him.”
“….”
“I’m surprised you came all the way here. I had laid down the plan but you came over it.”
“Elder Sebali Etar…..”
“Welcome. Are you here to rescue me from captivity? If so that’s good.”
“What happened?”
“As you can see I was captured by them and imprisoned here.”
Elder Sebali Etar was saying this but Azadin clicked his tongue when he noticed that there were no other people around.
The foresight team was watching those approaching the lighthouse. In other words the person who was watching those approaching the lighthouse from here was this elder.
Could that be why? When Azadin showed a less than friendly attitude Sebali Etar smiled bitterly.
“Oh oh oh. He’s not a very smart guy.”
“I expected to meet Zenith or Dimia since there was a foresight officer outside but I didn’t expect to meet a sane elder. It doesn’t seem like he’s tied up anywhere so isn’t it too obvious?”
Azadin secretly criticized Elder Sebali.
“Hahaha. Right. That was so obvious. But you’ve been dismissed from your job now right? And yet you’re still loyal to the Senate?”
“Rather I should say that what the Arael tribe is doing right now is not earning my loyalty. Isn’t that the case right now? What on earth are you doing in Coral Sahar right now?”
“I am trying to obtain the throne of Coral Sahar.”
“You mean the throne of Coral Sahar? These Nagas seem to think they can get that throne for themselves. Do you have any means of getting rid of them? They came in such large numbers?”
“Yes. After the Nagas have done everything and killed the King of Coral Sahar and all his vassal knights we will activate the trap drive out the Nagas and take the throne for ourselves. Then Aragasa’s wish will be fulfilled.”
If you obtain the King’s Throne you will be able to obtain the Book of the New King not just a copy of it. This is a much-desired thing for the Aragas who wish to be freed from the curse of service.
Yes. It must be an attractive temptation that even the elders of the noble Ethar clan would have no choice but to join the rebels.
“If you are Aragasa you must know our wish. The day when we can achieve this wish is just around the corner. So rejoice.”
But Azadin scoffed.
“I would like to ask you something Elder.”
“What?”
“Does Aragasa have the right to live because she is Aragasa?”
“What does it mean?”
“I see that the trap is a manifestation of the Nether. Even if the sea serpent nagas revere the Nether it is questionable whether the Nether will truly accept and look after them. Also the water serpent nagas probably do not want to be eaten by the Nether so it seems like they are trying to get their hands on the throne and do something with it… Does Aragasa have the right to do such a thing?”
When Azadin asked that the elder looked at Azadin as if he found it strange.
“Are you denying Aragasa’s secret wish?”
“Many people in the world call Aragasa a cursed race of soulless blasphemies. But I have never been intimidated or embarrassed by their accusations. But today this makes me feel ashamed.”
Azadin smiled bitterly and pointed to the Nether script drawn on the floor.
“What pride do we have in doing such a thing? Do we have the right to exist while killing all the perfectly fine residents of Coral Sahar? Tens of thousands of people in Coral Sahar have already lost their homes and more people than the entire population of Aragatha have died. Let’s say the Nagas are our enemies. But we have no right to take the lives of the people living in Coral Sahar.”
“You are strange.”
Sebali shook his head.
“The people of Coral Sahar? They are the Hybris! They are the ones who bound us and sealed our fate! They are weaker than us yet they look down on us and have more than we do! We must survive! We must have! We must rule! Because it is us!”
“That is precisely what makes Arael unable to elicit loyalty from me.”
“Hahahaha. Are you of sound mind? Azadin. Then you will be a traitor to the Senate as well. You will weigh the fate of Aragasa and the fate of the other Hybris people on the same scale? That is not Aragasa! Each of us weighs more than thousands of Hybris people no than all of them!”
Sebali said so and made a hand seal with both hands. A sword with a black shadow rose from the floor and was caught in his hand.
“It seems you really don’t have a soul! You don’t understand the injustice suffered by our Aragasa at all!”
Azadin also drew his sword.
“If that’s what a soul is then I guess it wouldn’t be bad for me to be a soulless blasphemer.”
