Night of the Soulless Heathens – 140

#140. Fair Trade 2
On the rooftop of the building where the wind and rain were howling Azadin’s colleagues were waiting for him without knowing where to go. They had already climbed up to the rooftop but they had no idea where to go.
Then Azadin came up the stairs.
“I told you to run away to the boat but you didn’t go and were waiting for me.”
“It took a long time?”
Medium welcomed Azadin.
“okay.”
“Then shall we escape by boat now?”
“No. Rather than running away by boat… I got some good information?”
“Information? What the heck is going on?”
Ismail was dumbfounded.
At first the sound of Azadin staying behind and repelling the advancing Nagas could be heard.
But then the sound suddenly disappeared. Everyone was worried but Azadin walked up looking fine.
“I met a funny guy and made a deal with him and he gave me this.”
When Azadin showed Shati the bracelet she was surprised.
“Raja’s Tears?!”
“know?”
“It’s a bracelet that symbolizes Raja’s words. There’s a split jade attached to it right? You had to match that jade with the jade on the opposite side to use the sword. In the old days….”
“Is it something like the Ministry of War? You gave me something huge.”
“The fortress was abandoned because magic was developed and magic could be used to transmit messages but it still symbolizes Raja’s military power. How did you get it? Did you kill Raja?”
“No. I made a deal with Raja Dehares of the Water Snake Tribe. He said he would tolerate it if we just hit the Sea Snakes.”
“…That’s ridiculous. Dehares?”
“Do you know each other?”
“How can someone like me know Raja? I don’t know.”
“But why do you pretend to know? After all Dehares said he would release the people.”
“Ah! Look at that!”

Medium pointed down the building.
Are you sure the water snakes aren’t releasing the people they captured inside the building?
Even though they had brought food inside the building people looked at me with puzzled expressions holding biscuits and sacks of barley wondering if I was allowed to take the food away.
“You have a fiery personality. Nagaraja do you like this guy?”
“Did you also make a deal to let people go?”
Midiam was surprised and asked Azadin.
“I see that Nagaraja wants us to fuck the Sea Serpent Tribe instead of the Water Snake Tribe. So I told him that if I were to do that it would be better if he freed his people. I told him that would give me more motivation and he listened. He may be a Naga but he’s a trustworthy friend.”
“Wow that’s great.”
Medium was amazed at Azadin’s ability to persuade Naga in this situation. Not only Medium.
“That’s ridiculous.”
Even Shati couldn’t believe what was happening before her eyes.
“Anyway is this really that important? Shati. You have it.”
Azadin gave Shati a bracelet called Raja’s Tears.
“Huh? Me?”
“I think what you have will look better than what I have.”
“That may be true but.”
“Shouldn’t we go to the lighthouse first? Or should we supply arrows before that?”
Azadin took refuge under the eaves and unrolled the map Dehares had given him. The map was wrapped in waterproof fish skin on the outside and had oiled paper on the inside so thick and hard that writing had to be scratched out with a pen.
It was made with such great care to be waterproof that it could almost be called leather.
‘Since they are a water snake tribe they must have made it like this because they don’t know when they will have to go to the water. It must have cost quite a lot of money.’
This map was an operational map showing the jurisdictional areas of each tribe and the patrol routes of the reconnaissance and patrol units.
“If there is a secret cooperation from the Water Snake Tribe on this map I will definitely be able to travel around without encountering many enemies. I have gained unexpected help. However looking at this I guess the Nagas also have complicated politics.”
“Of course. Hmm.”
Shati was in ecstasy looking at Raja’s tears on her wrist.
“But be careful. The Sea Serpent Tribe is said to have started worshipping the Nether Gods instead of the Cobra Queen. They are mutating and they will become more monstrous than you might expect. Let’s start by supplying some weapons. It’s not a good idea to use a Moonbow when your underwear is soaking wet. An Ashwood Longbow would be better.”
Azadin pointed to the armory in the Sea Serpent Tribe territory that he had identified by looking at the map.
“Let’s avoid the water snake tribe on the way. Since you’ve gone this far we should at least be respectful to Nagaraja.”
“But if you let those people go now you can kill them later right?”
Ismail distrusted Naga but Azaddin shook his head.
“No… I see that Nagaraja is a person who values his honor very much. He’s not the type of person to go back on his words so easily. Oh in this case should I call him Nagaraja not a person?”
“Of course! We are a race that knows the honor of going out!”
Shati responded to Azadin’s words.
“….”
“why?”
“But since it’s Shati it seems a little less convincing.”
Azadin gave Shati a clumsy smile.

The Water Snake tribe intentionally avoided Azadin’s group by being quiet as Nagaraja had a talent for passing on information to his own people.
Thanks to this Azadin’s party was able to pass through the territory of the Sea Serpent Tribe without difficulty and arrive at the area in charge of the Sea Serpent Tribe.
“Is that the Sea Serpent Tribe?”
While the Water Serpent Tribe had smooth scales the Sea Serpent Tribe had spines growing all over their bodies like fish in a coral reef and were larger and more threatening overall.
Since Azadin and his party knew the routes of the Nagas’ regular and irregular patrol units they were able to move through the building without being detected by the Nagas and approach the rear of the Nagas guarding the armory.
however….
“Oh my. It’s going to get moldy.”
Scott grumbled as he munched on the dried fruit.
“The dried fruit is so moist that it looks like it might get moldy. I have to eat it all.”
“….”
Dried fruits were expensive and good among the dry products.
Of course since it is weak to moisture what Scott said is not wrong but it was so annoying to hear someone say something when he was almost eating all the precious dry food by himself.
“Oh don’t be so obsessed with me. I’ll definitely do my job. Just by walking around without using a wheelchair you’ll know how much I’m doing.”
Scott picked up a piece of lumber he had torn from the ruins and cast a spell on it.
As soon as he let go of it the wooden club flew with a terrifying force and attacked the sea serpents.
“Kuuuck!”
“Creak!”
“good!”
Azadin also picked up a stone and threw it with terrible force knocking down the Naga and charging forward. Jibek followed suit piercing the Naga with his sword and twisting the blade to cut open his rib cage.
The sea serpent nagas were stronger and more powerful than the water serpent nagas but since we knew their patrol routes it was easy to ambush them.
“Okay. That was quick.”
Jibek cut off the neck of the Naga he had defeated and cleaned the blade.
“Let’s check out the armory.”
Inside the armory there wasn’t much left because the humans had already gone out and taken all the weapons without any distinction. However I was able to find arrows longbows and a large heavy crossbow that they hadn’t taken.
“This looks useful.”
Azadin detached the iron part of the heavy crossbow.
“A person can pull that…”
Zibek was horrified to learn what Azadin was thinking as he dismantled the crossbow.
Even a skilled crossbowman had to place his feet on the step and turn a crank with both hands to cock the bowstring gradually drawing it back in to load the heavy crossbow.
But doesn’t Azadin just pull that iron bow with his hand?
“Hmm. It takes a lot of strength but it’s not impossible. But the bowstring is too thick so it won’t be easy to reel it in.”
“….”
“We’re just satisfied with the Ashwood longbow.”
Midiam and Ismail said so and looked at Azadin.
“But I wonder if Sion Brother is okay.”
“Okay. I should let you know that I have made a pact with the Water Snake. Can you contact me with magic?”
“Yes. Let’s try flying a preemptive strike first.”
“By foresight?”
“I had an idea after seeing what Zion Orabeoni wrote.”
Medium originally used the Foresight only for reconnaissance but after seeing the Foresight-Gamauji technique taught by Zion he transformed it into his own style.
“Should I call it the Golden-crowned Macaw? Hmm… It takes a lot of strength. Where?”
Medium tested the foresight by keeping it at a distance.
“Ah test. One two three four five six seven…”
Could it be that the artificial spirit of the Seonkyojo is making sounds following the voice of the Medium?
Azadin was secretly amazed by the sight.
“You’re quite talented for a human. Oh don’t be too impressed by my compliments. I’m only complimenting you from a human perspective.”
Scott ‘praised’ Medium on behalf of Azadin.
“uh?”
But the medium was embarrassed.
“why?”
“No I can’t see you brother.”
“Where is the boat?”
“Yes. There’s no one nearby. I called just in case…”
It would also be burdensome for the medium whose consciousness is connected to the seer to announce the seer’s location by making a sound.
But even when Midiam called Zion Zion showed no response.
“That’s strange. Are there any dead bodies nearby?”
Azadin asked if there were any dead Nagas. If Zion had been taken by Nagas there would definitely be traces of dead Nagas.
“No. There is no sign of engagement.”
“Then you’re hiding? Hmm.”
“Oh what should I do?”
“Zion is a former messenger right? And he’s of the Etar bloodline. He won’t be easily taken advantage of and he’ll do his part on his own. The important thing now is to check the lighthouse. The problem is…”
Azadin unfolded the map and looked toward the lighthouse.
The lighthouse area was heavily guarded by sea serpents.
“If I were alone I could climb the wall and avoid combat and sneak in…”
You can’t take a Zibek or Scott Schatie who can’t climb walls.
“You guys wait at the back. I’ll go alone.”
“It’s dangerous.”
“No the more people there are the harder it is. Instead give me this golden cockatoo. I will use it to communicate with you as we go. If something happens I will escape so you guys open the way for me to escape.”
“If that’s the case.”
“But it’s hard for me to keep the golden cockatoo for a long time.”
“There’s an easier way to do it.”
Scott retrieved the body of a drowned rat from a nearby warehouse.
“It would be much easier for me to convey information between both sides. It would just require the use of necromancy.”
“Commandment…..”
Jibek sighed.
“Write it. Write it.”
“Have you given up?”
“I should become a penitent for this compromise. Well in my case I’m fortunate enough to be able to become a penitent.”
There is no way that Judge Jecht will let Zebeck live. So until Jecht is dealt with he will have no chance to become a normal penitent.
“Okay. I’ll do it. You won’t be complaining later right?”
Scott cast a necromancy spell on a dead rat. Large eyeballs appeared on the rat’s head seemingly taking up the entire brain and its tail became stiff as a wire.
“Ugh. This is disgusting.”
Medium stuck out his tongue at the sight.
“Well if you look closely there’s a cute side to it.”
Scott insisted and held out the rat to Azadin.
“I’ll contact you through this. Be nice to me.”
“What should I do? Should I give you a kiss?”
“It would be good if you did it.”
“….”
Azadin silently took care of the enchanted rat.
