Night of the Soulless Heathens – 139

#139. Fair Trade 1
The Jeonryong Clan’s bow the Wolgak Bow is an incredibly strong bow for its size but this is because it uses composite materials and these composite bows are vulnerable to moisture.
The current bow was fired yesterday and waxed but it was still not very good.
“Don’t pull the bow too hard.”
“yes!”
“Then let’s begin!”
Azadin Ismail Midiam three fired arrows at the same time.
The nagas guarding the entrance to the building were startled and raised their weapons but Azadin’s arrow pierced his brain and Ismail’s arrow struck another naga’s eye.
But Midiam’s arrow hit Naga’s curved blade and bounced off. Naga whose eye was pierced screamed.
“It’s an attacker!”
“this….”
I didn’t fully pull the bow for fear of it breaking so it didn’t have enough power which is why this happened.
But then….
-puck!
A piece of wood flew out and was sucked into the guard’s mouth.
“Okay that worked.”
Scott shrugged.
“Oh my trapezius muscles are growing like this. I shouldn’t develop this kind of habit.”
“Good job Scott. But did you just throw this?”
“No I used magic. Throwing it? What if I do something like that and gain muscle on my arm?”
“Yeah that’s right. Good job. The reason you were worried about your trapezius wasn’t because you threw the club but because you shrugged your shoulders?”
“That’s right. This alone makes our species excessively muscular. And since we’re not human our throwing speed isn’t that great either. Orcs have overdeveloped shoulder muscles so their arms don’t pull forward quickly when they throw.”
“Yeah good job.”
Azadin praised Scott and placed Medium and Ismail near the entrance first.
As the two of them nocked arrows on their bows and aimed for the entrance the men wondering if they were fools threw chairs through the window instead of running out through the narrow building entrance.
“What? You guys?!”

“You dare to oppose us you lowly race!”
Then Azadin fired an arrow. The arrow was sucked into the window and a scream was heard.
“Kew!”
“What the hell!”
“Are you a messenger clan!?”
The Nagas who saw the curved arrow flying towards them were shocked when they realized Azadin’s true identity.
but….
-Kuweeek!
-Kaaaak!
Suddenly a group of people appeared at the entrance to the building.
“What is that!?”
“Is this the enemy?!”
The Naga scouts have made their appearance.
But there are a lot of them. Even if one group can’t do it there are 2 groups of 6 so there are more than 12 Nagas and there are Nagas inside the building too.
furthermore….
“Wow!”
Naga who was hit by Azadin’s arrow stood up pulled out the arrow and threw it away. Even though the arrow clearly penetrated his brain he did not die.
Of course the Nagas who were hit by Ismail’s arrows and Scott’s club in the mouth also rose. The Nagas’ regenerative power and vitality are truly amazing.
‘The brain is leaking out so no matter how hard I try to get out there’s no way I’ll be safe but is this the only way I can move right now?’
Meanwhile when this situation occurred Shati felt her heart pounding.
‘Oh. I think this is my chance. But…’
Chatty hesitated for a moment.
What if Azadin wins even if he betrays? The Nagas seem to have the upper hand in terms of numbers and troops but Azadin won in a much more dangerous situation. Didn’t he even defeat Count Kazel?
But what if she actively helps Azadin and his party in this situation? That would be a clear betrayal.
Even though she had already betrayed Nagas several times she still wanted to believe that she had some excuse.
But then it happened.
“Long live the dry land tribes!”
Azadin shouted and immediately fired arrows at the Nagas.
“…Long live the dry land tribes!”
Midiam and Ismail were also quick-witted and immediately imitated Azadin and shot arrows.
The Nagas counterattacked using magic but Midiam and Ismail cast spells on their arrows and Lord Jibek used judgment magic to retaliate so the Nagas who had more numbers were pushed back in attack power.
-puck!
-Pfft!
Everyone fired their bows hard risking that they might get wet and break.
-Snap!
Eventually Azadin’s bow broke in the middle of the fight. Azadin took out another bow and strung it but he had already run out of arrows.
“Keep going! You guys!”

“Well done!”
But the Nagas were reinforced again. They were the ones who attacked to take over the capital of a kingdom. Their force was considerable and their organization was also excellent.
“I guess I have to run away.”
Azadin entered a nearby building.
“Chase him!”
“These kids!”
The moment Naga chased Azadin and entered the building…
-Pfft!
A bloody Naga rolled down the stairs.
“uh?”
“Hey wait a minute?!”
The business district of Coral Sahar is so close to each other that you can escape by climbing up to the upper floors. To prevent this you have to enter the stairs…
-Two-tap!
Naga entered the stairs again and rolled down the stairs covered in blood.
Azadin stayed behind and dealt with the Nagas entering the stairs knocking two of them down the stairs.
“Azadin!”
“You go first!”
“Are you okay?!”
“Of course! I’m fast on my feet so I’ll go up to the roof first and then go back to the ship!”
Azadin said so and stood on the narrow stairs.
Then this time a Naga came in carrying a long spear. Instead of being a strong and large Naga the Naga had taken the form of an elf.
A man with the unique appearance of an elf with vertically slit pupils held a spear and waved at Azadin.
“You must be very confident in your abilities to stay behind alone. If you stayed behind on your own you must be quite a courageous person.”
“You’re not in the form of a Naga but rather an elf. Isn’t that unusual? Doesn’t the Naga form make you stronger because you gain more weight?”
“It’s easier to support yourself in narrow places especially on stairs if you have two legs. If you crawl around with just your tail you’re likely to slip and fall. Is that what you’re aiming for?”
Knowing this Azadin came in disguise as an elf.
“then!”
As Azadin pretends to leap forward a barrier of spear blades appears before his eyes.
As expected this Nagachang’s skills are quite impressive.
Azadin tried to kick the spear away with his sword and make it crash into the wall or floor but his opponent seemed to know Azadin’s plan and avoided kicking it away trying to find an opening.
Azadin and Naga’s spears danced through space without ever intertwining. Their feints and traps were set by each other but their readings were similar so their weapons never clashed.
After a brief exchange of words they both took a step back without saying a word.
“You’re quite skilled. Are you the captain?”
“You too. Are you a member of the Herald Clan? Not the Arael Tribe but the Senate?”
“….”
“You don’t have to answer. I think it’s the Senate. If that’s the case I think we can make a good deal.”
“transaction?”
An unexpected word came out of the other person’s mouth. The Nagas have a large number of people and great influence so how can they propose a deal first?
“okay.”
The elf-like Azadin smiled as he showed interest in the deal.
“Hmm. Tell me something. I hope it’s not something trivial like asking me to be your subordinate.”
“Don’t worry. That’s absolutely not the case. We are currently under the command of the Sea Serpent Tribe General. The problem is that the Sea Serpent Tribe guys are heretics.”
“A heretic?”
“Yes. There are more and more people who worship the Nether God instead of the Cobra Queen.”
“….”
“In reality they were transformed by encounters with the Nether beings in the deep sea. They are no longer of the same race as us. However they joined hands with the Heralds and persuaded our Mahaatma the chieftain. This is enough to make me angry but the Heralds’ witch has actually weakened the Light of the Crown and successfully invaded Coral Sahar and is now on the verge of complete success. I am not very satisfied with this situation.”
“so?”
“I want you to leave our snake tribe alone and only touch the sea snakes. In return I will give you maps and information.”
“….”
“This is our map. Each tribe has its own territories. It’s written in Naga but I’ll add some Saharan. What do you think?”
I don’t know what kind of trap it was but the conditions were too good to be a trap.
“The offer is too good to refuse. Okay.”
“I’m glad we can communicate. I’m going to take out my pen is that okay?”
“hmm.”
Azadin sheathed his sword indicating that he would negotiate. He put down his spear took a pen from his bosom dipped it in an inkwell and began to make corrections to the map.
Azadin asked in that situation.
“Are the messengers that appear here the Flower Dimia and Zenith?”
“You know him well. I heard he’s a key member of the Arael tribe.”
“I am Azadin the 108th messenger of the Emperor. What about you?”
“Rajja Dehares of the Water Snake Tribe.”
After finishing his work Nagaraja Dehares threw the map to Azadin.
“If you’re Raja you’re royalty right?”
“To be exact he is a vassal. To you he is like a count.”
“You are of high status.”
“Anyway go. Don’t tell anyone that I cooperated with you and just fight the Sea Serpent Tribe. If you come into our territory and fight the Sea Serpent Tribe then I’ll consider the deal broken.”
“i get it.”
Azadin picked up the map and started climbing the stairs but then stopped.
“Do you know by any chance how the light of the king’s flower was extinguished? Or any clues.”
“All I know is that some sort of ritual was performed at the lighthouse. Fortunately the lighthouse is in the territory of the Sea Serpent Tribe.”
“So you mean to tell me to investigate it myself?”
“yes.”
“Where can I get some arrows?”
“There are a few armories that we and the Sea Serpent Tribe have requisitioned and they should have some arrows left over. They’re marked as patrol areas on the map so they should be easy to find. And…..”
Raja Dehares removed the bracelet from his wrist and tossed it to Azadin.
“If you meet our tribe nearby show them this. If you get caught by the Sea Serpent Tribe tell them that you stole it. If they catch you you’d better kill yourself if you don’t want to be eaten alive.”
“Are you afraid that I’ll tell you all about you under torture?”
“Just advice. I don’t really like eating humans. It’s so tacky.”
“But didn’t you seem to be catching a human earlier?”
“There’s nothing we can do about the humans who invade the area. I can’t allow them to continue sending out messengers from the Coral Sahar Royal Palace to call for reinforcements.”
“They just seem to be residents here. Can’t you just let them run away if you want to make a deal with me?”
“What? Do you know what bracelet I gave you? I’ve already given you so much….”
“I’m not going to sell it. I’ll use it and return it when the time comes. And when you’re going to gamble anyway isn’t it better to increase your chances of success even a little?”
“Why does letting those humans live increase the success rate?”
“I’m a mood person. When they live my mood gets better and my abilities improve. My fatigue also goes away.”
“Ha. Hahaha.”
Raja Dehares burst into laughter at Azadin’s stubbornness.
“You’re an interesting guy. I understand. I’ll try to hurt as few humans as possible. Just for today. If you don’t give me some interesting news today I’ll go back to killing people here.”
“A one-day grace period? That’s enough. Thank you.”
Azadin made a deal with Raja Dehares and turned around to head up the building.
