Night of the Soulless Heathens – 138

#138. Coral Sahar’s Storm 6
The behavior of the orcs who were reluctant to acquire muscles that others were desperate to acquire shocked other races.
Azadin quickly came to his senses and went out again to interrogate the commander.
“Anyway who is the king of Coral Sahar? What are the humans doing now?”
“They have fortified the castle and are sieging it. But the water has flooded in and divided their forces and all their supply lines have been cut off. Nevertheless the king’s power is too strong to enter yet.”
“Really? How could that be…. Did that woman named Zenith really put out the light of the royal flower for a moment?”
“Yes.”
“Is that possible?”
“If it were actually possible we could have invaded this city right?”
“hmm.”
After hearing the story… Coral Sahar’s condition was serious.
Isn’t it true that King Korasaur and his vassals are holding out in the castle while the Nagas surround and attack him?
Because of the wind and rain not only is it impossible to provide a rescue but even solidarity between the troops currently in Korasaur is impossible.
Moreover this fact was not yet known to the external king’s church or the neighboring estates.
“It’s a do-or-die situation.”
“I told you everything I know. Release me. As promised.”
“….”
As Azadin nodded Midiam and Ismail released the naga from the mast.
As the Naga Captain was released he bowed to Azadin.
“You are a warm-blooded animal who knows honor. Thank you. And that traitor from my clan….”
“No. I…..”
“Put some eggs in the cloaca. Put three eggs in it.”
After saying those words Commander Naga jumped into the water and leisurely disappeared.
“I know it’s weird for me to say this but are you crazy? Why are you letting me go?”
“Why… do we have to track it?”
“tracking?”

“okay.”
Azadin told Shati so and sent Ismail and Midiam on a mission to track down the Naga commander they had just released.
“Good idea. But wait… I got seasick and when I got on land it was like this again…”
Zion Etar retched in his rumbling.
“Please don’t do that. Even drunk people don’t want others to see them vomiting so why are you so confident?”
“Why are you hiding when you have not committed a crime? The Etar bloodline is always proud.”
“That’s what they say Medium. Do you agree?”
“Oh no. That’s different from this. Even a confident person wouldn’t show others the way they go to the bathroom right?”
Medium shook his head at Azadin’s questioning.
“I was holding the key. So I’m going to wash up here for a bit and change my clothes before I go. I’ll guard the ship for a bit so you guys go first.”
“Are you okay? It would be dangerous if you were left alone.”
Although Zibek was worried about Zion being left alone Azadin shook his head.
“Zion is a former messenger so he’ll be fine. He’s also quite skilled.”
Indeed Zion gestured for the group to go there with his hand while feeling nauseous.
*********
“Hmm.”
Medium was in an awkward position.
As a child he admired Zion Etar.
Her handsome and cool cousin. To her who didn’t even consider him a human being other than the Etar bloodline Sion was a young man of a similar generation to her. She couldn’t help but admire him.
But when I looked at it after my hair grew a bit thicker it was strange. Were people this strange?
It was a time when Medium was bewildered by the gap between his childhood longing and the reality he saw now.
“Hey can I stay with Zion or whatever? Honestly going around is too stressful.”
Shati said this as she followed Azadin.
It looks like the ones doing the work here are the Naga Empire and if they get caught Shati won’t be able to return to the Nagas.
Even now you have already been branded a traitor so if you continue to follow Azadin and his group there will be no room for excuses.
“I don’t know the internal situation of the Nagas. I need you to interpret the information I’ve obtained. In fact I didn’t even know that the Nagas were divided into the Water Snake Tribe the Sea Snake Tribe and the Dry Land Tribe.”
“No normally you wouldn’t care because you wouldn’t know when I would betray you. Why do you bring me along?”
“Well….”
Azadin trailed off.
‘I take you with me because I feel like I can kill you in one shot even if you betray me so I don’t feel burdened.’
I couldn’t say that.
‘No matter how much I tell you to leave you’ll still be hurt if I say that. I guess I’ll have to try to appease you a little.’
So Azadin gave a compliment he didn’t mean.
“You’re beautiful so when we’re together the atmosphere is bright and nice.”
“No for just that reason…”
“And your regeneration magic is really good too. It’s helping me a lot. It really helps me a lot.”
“Ah. This kid. Even if you praise me there’s no soup left!”

Even though Shati said that her ears turned red and started to wiggle.
‘You really like compliments?’
It was a strictly class society and those of low birth had to perform a reincarnation ritual to rise in class.
This is no joke there really is no way to increase your rank other than dying and being reborn. It was through this very same reincarnation ritual that Count Salasma Kazel transformed into Naga.
So Shati who had never experienced self-affirmation was at a loss for words with Azadin who was openly flattering her.
Although she had experienced the tricks of human men praising her beauty Naga Shati who worshipped the logic of power regarded such sweet talk as nothing more than courtship to obtain her body.
Azadin who had already secured her as his captive had no need to show off to her. When a powerful person praises someone who can do whatever he wants there is no other way to think of his intentions as anything other than sincere.
‘What should I do? I feel good.’
Shati was taken aback by Azadin’s words praising her.
“Tsk tsk.”
Medium who was watching from the side clicked his tongue.
“By the way the water snake is really fast. It runs on water as if it were flat ground so it keeps gaining distance.”
Ismail was panting as he chased after the water serpent Naga with his foresight.
The roads in downtown Coral Sahar were a complete mess with many areas flooded and landslides causing collapses.
This is why it is so difficult to chase down the water snake Naga which can swim freely across the water.
Deep mud pits and debris from collapsed buildings block the road.
And on the only paths that people could pass there were men who had piled up furniture to create barricades and were holding weapons in their hands their eyes shining.
“Hehehe.”
“Where are you going?”
“Please pass me some food. If you can it would be the icing on the cake if you leave the women behind too.”
“hmm?”
They habitually blocked the road but were taken aback when they noticed that there were more Azadin’s party than expected.
Currently Azadin’s group consists of six people: Azadin Medium Ismail Zibek and Scott Shati. There are only two women but that’s not a small number and Scott’s size is also very large.
Even though the armor-less Sir Zibek looked good everyone was more wary of Scott than Zibek because he didn’t look like a knight without his armor.
“These kids are so handsome.”
“Hmm. The weapons are also good.”
At first glance Azadin and his party are not ordinary. When they fight sacrifices are inevitable. However they are all out of their minds due to hunger and stress.
“If it doesn’t matter whether I die this way or that I’ll do something before I starve to death.”
As they were gathering their strength Azadin stepped forward.
“I am Azadin the 108th messenger of the Emperor.”
Azadin immediately revealed his identity. The scoundrels blocking the way flinched.
“That messenger clan?”
“Hey sweetheart. If you’re a messenger then I’m a dragon…”
“Shut up idiot. If it’s true what are you going to do?”
The will of the scoundrels was eroded. The notoriety of the Herald Clan helped in this.
“Hey. What the hell are you planning to do?”
“Bringing in the Nagas… Are the messenger clan in their right mind?”
The scoundrels asked Azadin.
Looking at that it seemed that it was the messenger clan and specifically the Arael tribe that brought the Nagas into Coral Sahar.
“Well isn’t that what we did? Who told you that the Heralds brought Naga in?”
“I didn’t just hear it I saw it with my own eyes.”
“At the lighthouse southwest of the city the witch of the Herald Clan put out the light. Then suddenly the sky opened up and a storm came.”
“And from the sea and the river came the seagulls.”
“You saw it yourself?”
When Azadin asked they looked embarrassed.
“No actually we just heard it from the night watchman.”
“I saw it myself. I was a guard at that dock warehouse.”
“You crazy bastard. You were so drunk back then that you didn’t even recognize your wife.”
“That’s what it was.”
“….”
Then Ismail signaled to Azadin.
“I can’t get any closer to the Nagas I was chasing. There are a lot of them.”
“Really? How’s the situation?”
“There is a place in Coral Sahar where the Nagas are besieging the castle. There is a Naga camp there and the Nagas have entered there.”
“Are you saying that we’re in the middle of a siege?”
“Yes. Even if the number of troops is small it should be at least a thousand.”
It would be absurdly foolhardy to attack Coral Sahar with a thousand men.
But now Coral Sahar is cut off from the road by heavy rains and each of the Nagas can display strength ten times that of a regular soldier.
“Okay. Um. Thanks for your hard work.”
Azaddin heard Ismail’s report and inspected the villains.
“Can I pass by?”
“Yeah yeah.”
“By the way over there. Do you have anything to eat?”
Then Scott glared.
“I can’t give it to you! I don’t have enough to eat!”
“….”
That wasn’t a wrong statement.
*********
As I passed the barricade of the scoundrels I saw the Nagas’ camp.
The Nagas took control of the trading posts and trading posts of Coral Sahar and made them their bases while sending reconnaissance units to the rear.
Now that the inner city of Coral Sahar was already surrounded the reconnaissance force’s role was to roam around and capture humans.
The Naga Queen Devislin is a goddess who enjoys human sacrifice. It is said that when the Naga Empire ruled Hybris in the past she built the Pyramid of Blood and continued to sacrifice humans so that the huge structure would never run dry of blood.
The reconnaissance unit’s purpose in capturing people was to prevent those using secret passages in the castle or secretly supplying supplies but it was also to capture people and use them as supplies that is food.
“Eww!”
“Please save me!”
People began to scream from above the pharmacy which was a four-story stone building.
Judging from the fact that some of the Nagas were standing at the entrance of the building and looking around it seemed that the Naga scouts had been searching the building and had found those hiding inside.
“What should I do?”
Medium asked Azadin.
Realistically Azadin and his group have no intention of saving those people.
However Azadin declared to Midiam that saving the people of Hybris was a beautiful thing and that without aesthetics the mission of a messenger would be nothing but a chain.
“I have to do my best as much as I can.”
Azadin prepared for battle checking the condition of his bowstring.
