#134. Storm of Coral Sahar 2

The merchants who had their wealth robbed and received fraudulent receipts and the residents who had suddenly lost their homes and been driven out were all shocked and began to speak ill of the king.

“Someone else should have been king!”

    “Right!”

“But that doesn’t mean Count Casel is a bit….”

“Then what about Judge Jecht? He is also a royal.”

“You’re the Northern royalty aren’t you? What do you know about our region?”

“Still he’s a great knight. If he had ascended the throne this wouldn’t have happened…”

As Zect’s name rose among the people Jibek could not hold back and came forward in front of the people.

“What kind of reckless nonsense are you talking about now?”

    “omg?!”

    “ah!”

Everyone was shocked when they saw Jibek a knight of the King’s Church.

    “Oh no it’s nothing.”

    “lol….”

The merchants immediately retracted their words and smiled wretchedly.

However the refugees who had lost their homes could not remove the poison from their eyes even when they saw the knight of the King’s Church Zibek right before their eyes.

It is possible for merchants to laugh and act cowardly in front of the strong without showing any signs of venom because they have a strong mentality.

Those who were already exhausted and desperate laughed at the incident at the King’s Church without paying any attention to it.

    “joy.”

“The world is coming to an end. It is unheard of for it to rain in the King’s capital for a week or even two whole weeks.”

“Isn’t it obvious when you see such a disaster unfolding?”

“I don’t think it would be any better if Count Kazel or Lord Jecht became king but that doesn’t mean the current king is particularly qualified.”

“If you have a mouth then speak up. Paladin Nari?”

The refugees became angry and began to surround Zibek. If Azadin and his group had not been behind them they would have all rushed at Zibek and beaten him.

“Okay. Let’s stop and go. Ah this is worth talking about.”

Azadin gave the refugees some coins to cheer them up.

“Do you give money to such ungodly people?”

It seems that Jibek was not pleased with Azadin’s behavior of giving money to those who spoke blasphemously and appeasing them.

“Coincidentally I am also a blasphemer. Please bear with it Lord Jibek. It’s not like I’m going to get into a fistfight with civilians right?”

“But it really is dangerous. Isn’t it unimaginable that the palace where the king resides would be flooded?”

I was lost in thought as I thought about what Medium had said and how worried he was.

“I wonder if Brother Zion is okay.”

    “If it is Zion…..”

    “He’s my cousin. He’s a former messenger.”

    Medium shrugged.

“Since you liked me I’m sure you’ll listen to me when we meet Azadin. It’ll help clear up your misunderstanding.”

“Well I guess I should first worry about whether he’s alive.”

Coral Sahar’s condition seemed to be very serious.

“Hey. But he’s a former messenger. How could something like that happen?”

    “Well?”

As he spoke Azadin walked towards Coral Sahar.

    *********

As we approached Coral Sahar the water level of the river increased. The water level of the Kora River which had been almost flat at Salasma was now overflowing and reaching its banks.

    however….

    “The river is flowing backwards.”

Azadin clicked his tongue as he watched the river water ripple.

“It means there was a lot of rain in Coral Sahar. Usually when the tide comes in the river water flows backwards…”

“At best it ends at the lower reaches. But we haven’t even reached Coral Sahar yet and this is happening… The river is flowing backwards all the way here?”

It must have been raining heavily in Coral Sahar Azadin thought.

    -Wedge!

    An arrow flew towards Azadin.

No it wasn’t just Azadin. A huge amount of arrows rained down from the bottom of the riverbank targeting all of Azadin’s party.

Azadin absentmindedly swatted away the flying arrow with his hand and stepped back without thinking.

    “Eww! I’m dying!”

Scott on the other hand curled up and screamed.

    “Are you a messenger clan?”

Zibek used his scabbard and cloak to block the arrows flying at Scott. The arrows were not of ordinary power but Zibek was able to protect himself and Scott from them without any harm.

“Ugh! Damn it. Why are you guys fighting among yourselves?”

Naga operative Shati screamed and hid behind Scott’s wheelchair.

“Isn’t this too intense for an opening greeting?”

Azadin clicked his tongue as he counted the number of arrows that had flown in.

There were more than one or two Aragasa lying in wait under the riverbank. At least 20 of them were firing arrows.

Among them a figure who seemed to be the leader appeared. A young man who seemed to be around the same age as Azadin standing calmly wearing a mask similar to Azadin’s but decorated with even more ornate jewels.

His calm demeanor which made it hard to believe he was the person who had just attacked her seemed to suggest that the attack just now was just a greeting.

    Indeed he spoke to Azadin.

“If I get shot by an arrow from this distance I’m not worthy of being called Aragasa! It was just a casual greeting! If I got hit I would have been very disappointed!”

It’s a ridiculous excuse. It’s true that if you shoot an arrow from more than 100 paces it’s called a greeting between two Aragasas.

But that’s only when they recognize each other. No matter how much they are Aragasa they can’t deal with arrows that ambush them.

It’s a good thing Azadin had suspected it beforehand otherwise he would have been killed by the arrow.

“Really? Then I should say hello too!”

Azadin drew his bow and fired an arrow.

The masked youth snorted and caught Azadin’s arrow in midair…

    “?!”

I was surprised by the tremendous force and dragged my feet backwards barely able to twist the arrow to change its direction. If I had tried to catch it as is it would have pierced my face.

“Ugh?! You’re crazy… You put magic on a greeting arrow! Are you planning to kill someone!?”

It’s absurd to ask if I intend to kill someone when I’ve been shooting arrows from the start.

    “I didn’t cast any magic.”

“Ha. Don’t lie. Don’t bluff. The arrows on the standard Moonlight Bow are lightweight so how come they have such power?”

“If you use the classic Aragasa method you can shoot with more power even with the same bow.”

“You’re saying that Aragasa’s law can show this level of accuracy? You’re kidding.”

The Aragasa method of increasing the velocity of arrows by drawing the bow was originally designed to increase the range of arrows fired by soldiers in groups.

It is closer in concept to an arrow thrower than a bow.

The accuracy that Azadin had just displayed was so absurdly sharp that it could not have been attributed to Aragatha’s law.

Then Midiam recognized the young man.

    “Zion Brother!”

When his name was called the young man took off his mask.

He was a handsome young man with snow-white skin bright blond hair and blue-gray eyes.

“Oh. Right. It’s Medium. Haha it’s been years since I’ve seen you you’ve grown into a young lady.”

He looked at Medium and pretended to know him then glared at Azadin. It seemed as if Azadin’s hand holding the arrow was injured. Even though he was wearing gloves it was like this so if it was barehanded the skin would have been torn.

“This power is an arrow shot without magic?”

“I can’t cast spells on arrows.”

    “What? What is that….”

“You don’t know about my rumors? I thought everyone in Aragasa knew that Azadin of Muan was a fool who couldn’t even use magic.”

“Aren’t all the people other than the Etar bloodline fools? I’m not interested in competing to see who’s more foolish.”

When Shati heard that he laughed.

“There’s another guy like Scott. How arrogant of him to say that.”

“I’m speaking realistically so I’m being honest rather than arrogant and that guy is arrogant.”

Scott said so proudly and grumbled.

“The messenger clan’s greetings are so rough. I almost died from the greetings.”

“But it seems like the greetings are just the beginning?”

As Shati had said Zion and his men were watching Azadin without putting away their weapons.

The reason they made a surprise attack in the first place… was probably to subdue the heralds of the Arael tribe who came along this road.

Was the first step a greeting because he realized that Medium was in the group?

“Should we at least try talking?”

Azadin steeled himself as he remembered how Midiam had recognized the young man.

    *********

“…So you are Azadin of Muan. Arael’s younger brother.”

Zion Etar nodded as if he had already heard about Azadin.

“I am the older brother and you are the younger brother.”

“Are you two twins fighting over something like that? You must really be very close. If you’re on good terms don’t you think you should try to decide who’s superior or inferior? If you’re on bad terms you’d be too busy trying to kill each other to care about who’s superior or inferior. You’re both penniless with no inheritance to spare.”

    “This kid…..”

“So. You are a traitor to the Senate I suppose? You will follow your blood relatives. In that case free my cousin.”

“No brother! Azadin is not on Arael’s side! I guarantee it!”

    “…okay?”

    Zion tilted his head.

“Well then welcome. But I’m surprised that the relationship between brothers and sisters is so bad. Isn’t there something wrong with their character?”

“You seem to have a lot of complaints. Shouldn’t you be glad that I’m not on Arael’s side?”

“No. I’m just a low-ranking messenger. It doesn’t really matter whether we’re enemies or allies.”

    “Subordinate messenger?”

“Azadin of Muan. What is your rank?”

    “It’s Command 108.”

“Really? I thought you’d be the bottom of the bottom but you really are the very bottom. So you shot an arrow with magic on it as a show of pride.”

Zion believed that the weight of Azadin’s arrows was not due to a difference in strength or skill but rather that Azadin had used magic.

“Are you really that kind of person?”

    Azadin asked Midiam.

    “Ahahaha.”

At that moment Zion turned serious to Azadin.

“Hey. Don’t approach my cousin so carelessly. Even though you are just a messenger and a servant our Midiam is not someone you would treat carelessly like that Etar Bloodline. Of course you are a hot-blooded man so it’s inevitable that you will fall for Midiam’s beauty….”

    “….”

“Medium too. Why did you have to rush out? If you had just waited a little they would have made a good seat for you.”

“Rather let me ask about Korsar Coral Sahar. What on earth is going on?”

“Since Flower Dimia and her younger sister Zenith stopped by here there has been a constant storm. Isn’t that funny?”

    “what?”

“A storm is brewing so shouldn’t the Wind Aleph come? And the Flower Dimia come and cause trouble? It doesn’t fit the name.”

    “….”
