Night of the Soulless Heathens – 118

#118. Wendigo 4
“Okay it’s a crisis so let’s take care of those first!”
Azadin shot an arrow while urging Zibek.
Scott had already scattered the Wendigos with his magic making it easier to shoot arrows. The Wendigos may look like beasts but they are actually undead so shooting arrows at them won’t kill them. So Azadin and Medium Ismail decided to aim for the Wendigo’s knee joints and shoot arrows at them to impede their movements.
As the Wendigos approached Lord Xibec Lord Brock Guillaumevald and Brand stood in the line of battle. Lord Xibec swung the steel sword he had received from Azadin and cut down the approaching Wendigos.
Dealing with Wendigos that were hit in the knee by Azadin’s arrow and had their leg muscles and joints torn and unable to move properly was not that difficult; even Guillaume Wald managed to deal with one.
The Wendigo that was dealt with in this way was controlled by Scott’s necromancy and became a wall to deal with the approaching Wendigos.
“This orc! He’s crossing the line just because I’m still!”
Zibek was furious at Scott for openly practicing necromancy.
“No Wendigo is already undead!”
Scott continued to cast his necromancy spell as he spoke.
‘There’s a bit of dissonance but it’s going well right?’
Azadin assessed the current situation in this way. These Wendigos in front of him were clearly monsters that could crush armor and kill a person if they were to swing their forelegs.
However with systematic long-range attacks that slow their movements and the swordsmanship-skilled Zibek and the strong Brand taking the lead in repelling them and Scott assisting with necromancy in the dangerous parts a team that fights quite well was created.
On the other hand Guillaumewald and Sir Brok were completely useless. Azadin advised Guillaumewald to use his spear instead of his sword but Guillaumewald was unable to use his spear more than a few times before he broke the Wendigo’s front leg with his spear and was left bare-handed.
Broc was a little better than Guillaume Wald but when he tried to help Guillaume Wald with his shield he got hit by a Wendigo’s foreleg with his shield and was thrown back down rolling around on the ice.
Despite these minor issues the Wendigos continued to fall before the group one by one.
however….
“Hey isn’t it too cold? How are you warm-blooded animals?”
Nagain Shati asked so.
“hmm?”
Azadin also felt the cold air seeping into his body. Since he was doing strenuous activities his body temperature should have risen but the surrounding temperature was dropping more than his body temperature was rising.
I soon found out why. The Wendigos that had not entered the confluence were exhaling cold air from afar lowering the temperature throughout the area.
“this….”
“It’s amazing.”
Although they are undead their attack method is quite cunning. Even if you don’t get hit directly by the cold breath it will be dangerous if the overall temperature drops like this.

“What should I do? A warm-blooded animal?! I can’t stand it!”
Nagain Shati was holding her head as if she was weak from the cold.
“What should I do! Do it like this!”
Azadin stepped forward and invited the Wendigo to attack. As it lunged forward spitting out cold air from its mouth Azadin easily jumped over the Wendigo and kicked it backward sending it back to where the power of the orc and Lady Liz were intertwined.
-Pants squeak!
As the Wendigo’s body reached the point where the two wizards’ powers were clashing electric sparks flew from its body and its fur began to burn. Along with the pungent smell of burning fur the Wendigo’s body was set ablaze.
“another!”
Azadin rushed at the limping Wendigo which had been hit in the knee by an arrow and delivered a low kick completely breaking its leg. He picked up the fallen creature and spun it around like a windmill before throwing it. This time the Wendigo fell into the battle between the two wizards and burst into flames.
“Ugh! It stinks!”
“Hey wait! What are you doing!”
Walter was horrified.
“That’s right! Burning this thing won’t make the cold go away! Kill that orc quickly and I’ll take care of the Wendigo!”
Mrs. Liz was also embarrassed.
‘Hmm. What should I do?’
If the Wendigos continue to spew cold air like this Azadin and his party will be in danger. But then which of the two will they choose?
Will you choose Walter an orc wizard employed by the Naga Empire? Or Lady Liz a former Bthuma witch who uses nether magic?
Both have problems.
‘If I had to choose by myself I would save the orc wizard.’
I have a grudge against Lady Liz who can get information about the Naga Empire and who intentionally harms others. But isn’t that killing her in front of her husband Lord Brock?
Moreover the solution proposed by the orc is to destroy the Book of the New King.
‘Do I have to kill one of them? Surely there must be another solution but there’s no time.’
Then Sir Brok approached the orc wizard with his sword in hand.
“I will kill this orc! No matter what I cannot let him harm my wife!”
“Oh? Great! I think it was a good idea to marry you for the first time! I’ll open the way so hit me!”
Mrs. Liz was delighted that Sir Brock took her side.
“How foolish! I knew you were a stupid race but to make such a foolish choice!”
Walter the orc wizard took hold of his axe.
‘That’s a magic wand.’
Azadin noticed that the axe-spear Walter was holding was actually a magic staff with an axe head attached to it. So it was essentially a staff with a rather large heavy and pointed steel decoration(?) attached to it.
“This is not the time to be afraid of gaining muscle!”
Walter grabbed his cane(?) and swung it.
-Cock!
Sir Brock rolled around on the ice again. Walter who had blown Sir Brock away in one go took out a copy of the New King’s Book from his bosom and grabbed it.
“No! It’s a magic release!”
Scott screamed.
Indeed as the light charged in the copy of the New King’s Book was released the tense struggle between the two magicians suddenly tilted to one side.
“Whoa!”

Mrs. Liz bounced away.
“Now that things have come to this! Yaegas’ followers must handle the Wendigo themselves!”
Walter the orc wizard shouted and ran towards Mrs. Liz.
“this!”
Zibek stepped forward to protect Mrs. Liz but Walter swung his staff which was no better than a spear axe with a terrifying ferocity.
As he fought Walter with his sword Zibek made sure to deflect his attacks so that their weapons would not touch each other. This was because if the weapons clashed against the orc who was so muscular that it was a problem he would surely be swept away by their brute force.
But that means you have to defend your position while avoiding your opponent’s weapon. It’s hard for a swordsman to do this even when facing a beginner who has just started swordsmanship. And isn’t your opponent a soldier?
however….
-Two-tap!
Zibek held the back of his axe down as Walter struck causing it to hit the frozen sewer floor. He then stepped forward and aimed for Walter’s neck with a quick swing of his sword.
“Huh! The wine of the Diamond God!”
Walter used his magic to turn his body into steel and deflected the blade of Zibek that was about to cut his throat.
“Die Paladin!”
And with one hand he fired a colorless magic bullet towards Jibek’s torso. However Jibek also received the magic bullet with his white magic shield.
It’s amazing. Usually when you cut the opponent’s throat they naturally let their guard down. The moment you inflict a fatal wound on the opponent you release the tension.
So the orc wizard Walter deliberately used magic to absorb the attack the moment a sword flew towards his neck and tried to create an opening for Xibek to attack. However Xibek did not let his guard down even at that moment and responded.
Walter changed the bullet he had released into a fist and struck Zebeck but Zebeck received Walter’s punch with his palm and flew backwards absorbing Walter’s great strength and landing safely.
‘Isn’t that amazing?’
Azadin was surprised to learn that Jibek was quite skilled. He knew that Jibek was somewhat talented even among the original paladins but he did not understand why such a person was unknown.
‘You said you were Zect’s disciple right?’
Azadin thought of the judge who had caused him trouble Jecht.
“Hmm.”
But in the end it was Walter’s victory. He got Sir Jebeck out of the way and opened the way for Lady Leeds.
“Thank you for your hard work. I’ll take charge from now on.”
This time Azadin blocked Walter’s path.
“Are you a messenger clan?”
Walter tensed his body. With a crack the hem of his clothes burst open and veins appeared on his huge muscles.
“My lifespan has been shortened because of you! I will kill you!”
“It was an accident do you really have to do this? I don’t want to kill you.”
“Nonsense! Do you think that inferior species like you would dare to become our enemies who have been blessed by the orc god Kanak!? You ignore my determination to fight without fear of gaining muscle!”
Orcs seem to be more afraid of gaining muscle mass than losing a fight in close combat. Azadin smiled bitterly.
“Are you really not willing to compromise?”
“No! I have been a faithful follower of Kurt Pantheon since the beginning. Since it has come to this I will kill you all!”
“If you say it like that my conscience about killing will be lessened.”
“You bastard!”
Walter lunged at Azadin and swung his staff. He swung the giant axe-like spear lightly with one hand while forming a knot with the other to release a colorless magic spell Magic Bullet.
Azadin dodges the attack with ease and takes out his traditional arrow to block the flying magic bullet.
“?!”
How do you take a bullet that would injure you with such a thin arrow?
That was because Azadin was spinning the arrow in his hand. He managed to avoid breaking the arrow on impact while avoiding the bullet. It was an extraordinary sense and control.
Walter felt a pang inside as he looked at that sight.
‘The knight from before was great but this one is different.’
Then Azadin kicked something with his foot. It was a block of ice.
“You still don’t plan on resolving this through dialogue?”
“this guy!”
“That’s too bad.”
Azadin threw a chunk of ice. But he didn’t throw it at Walter. He threw it at the ground.
-grasp!
As the block of ice hit the ground shards of ice were hurled at Walter.
“Ugh!?”
Azadin swung his sword again carving a shard of ice from the ice rink and sending it flying at Walter.
“This kid! What are you doing? Knock knock!”
Walter lunged at Azadin but Azadin did not engage Walter directly and continued to dodge cutting through the ice and throwing ice shards at Walter.
“…Khuu …
It was already a place filled with cold air. Walter who was working inside felt his bronchial tubes gradually freezing and he started coughing. Above all if he wasn’t careful about his breathing the ice particles would seep into his breath and he wouldn’t be able to stop coughing.
“Cluck cluck… This is it!?”
As breathing becomes impeded and oxygen levels decrease Walter’s ability to exercise declines rapidly. The massive amount of muscle mass actually becomes a heavy burden binding Walter’s feet.
“Ugh!”
-puck!
Azadin lightly stabbed Walter in the thigh with the tip of his sword. It was a short crisp stab that didn’t penetrate the thick muscle but was enough to cause bleeding. It struck the thigh then aimed for the wrist and forearm quickly leaving Walter covered in blood.
“Ahh!”
Oak Walter fell to the floor. He was already feeling like he had difficulty breathing due to lack of oxygen and now that he was bleeding his heart was pounding so hard that it was hard to handle.
‘Oh no!’
Walter whose breathing was already restricted felt as if he was drowning as his heart rate and breathing rate increased when he was bleeding.
“Whoa?! Hey this kid. He’s so cunning!”
Orc Walter was astonished to see what Azadin was aiming at when he slammed the ice shards into his target.
“For a human you’re pretty good huh? So is the only way to get rid of the Wendigo really to use up the Book of the New King?”
A sinister murderous aura burst out from within Azadin’s mask.
But the orc wizard Walter smiled his crooked fangs sticking out of his lips.
