    #117. Wendigo 3

    “Did you see it?”

“The orc wizard Walter said haughtily.

    “What are you doing?”

“That woman summoned that Wendigo and failed to control it. We need to kill her to seal the Wendigo but she has half of the copy of the Book of the New King which we used as the source of the ritual’s magic. I have the other half.”

“You have a copy of the New King’s Book? How many copies are there?”

“I have two and she has two.”

So what this means is that there are four copies of the Shingwangjinseo here.

    ‘Is this totally awesome?’

Azadin currently has five copies of the Book of the New King. If four more copies are added it will be nine. At this point it would be ridiculous to kill Azadin with the Curse of Service.

    “What is a Wendigo??”

“That’s the name of that giant nether monster.”

At that moment Mrs. Liz became angry.

“That’s a blatant lie! You have to kill me to seal that monster! That’s nonsense!”

At her cry Azadin stepped forward.

    “Mrs. Liz?”

    “What are you?”

“A woman named Fran is dead. By the hand of Lord Brock.”

“Really? Tsk. What a pitiful woman. She did something stupid and got what she deserved but Brock killed her himself? So what? You killed her with your own hands so now you’re asking for forgiveness?”

“Before that let me ask you. Why did you make her a member of the Atra clan?”

“Why? It seems that you are so interested in beauty and love that you have dedicated everything to the goddess of beauty and love!”

“If you hate your husband because he had an affair you should know that it’s more your husband’s fault right?”

“Do you think I’m a fool? That I should step down because of some dreamy woman? Don’t make me laugh! I don’t want to go back to the jungles of Btuma again!”

If the woman named Fran was somewhat innocent and had an empty mind this lady named Liz was a much more cunning and scary person.

    “eww….”

Sir Brock was horrified when he heard that.

“Do you understand? Try making another woman and I’ll kill you and put you in a stew! But I won’t kill you! I’ll keep watching you tremble in fear! You’ll live your whole life remembering the disaster your desires have caused!”

‘You really wanted to cheat on me by leaving this woman behind. Are you brave or stupid? In this case it’s probably both?’

Azadin was once again amazed at Lord Brok’s clumsiness and asked.

“Well aside from your couple issues what about that giant monster out there? You say you summoned it but is it really you who summoned it?”

“Summoning? Do I look that great? That distracting thing? That Wendigo was originally sealed here. It was sealed long ago by the Kurt gods with great sacrifices and because the connection was severed by the light of the King’s Fire it is now wandering unable to manifest in the present world.”

The story with the orc is different. The orc says that she summoned him… and that she was originally a sealed being but after seeing the majestic giant monster in person her words seemed more credible.

Perhaps that’s why Walter immediately corrected his words.

“To be exact the Wendigo was not sealed here but banished here. It’s called summoning because it calls back the banished being. It’s just a confusion of terms. I wasn’t trying to deceive you. If I was trying to deceive you I’m a half-orc. A half-orc.”

This orc named Walter also tries to prove his truth by insulting humans in front of them.

‘What on earth do these orc bastards think of humans?’

Azadin was disgusted by the arrogance of the orcs but both the orcs and Madame Liz were so excited that they spoke too quickly. If they were allowed to talk as they pleased this place would turn into a market street.

“Okay so just stay still for a moment. So why did you do the summoning or the unsealing?”

    Azadin asked Mrs. Liz.

“I didn’t originally intend to break the seal of the Wendigo. Who in their right mind would want to break it? I just thought of making a light contract and extracting some power from it.”

    “lightly?”

Drawing on the power of the Nether’s existence? That alone would be enough to be executed as a terrible black magic user. However Mrs. Liz the one who did the black magic seemed to take it lightly.

“But these Kurt followers thought differently. If they released this huge thing the Eight Kingdoms would lose a great deal of national power. If the Yaegasu God followers lost their national power their world would come. They thought so and interfered when they saw me perform the ritual causing the seal to be released! It’s not my fault!”

It was a shocking thing to hear for those who were listening.

Of course from Mrs. Liz’s perspective she had no intention of letting it go and was only trying to gain some strength from the Nether monster so it was unfair that things turned out this way.

‘Even if what you say is true isn’t it a crime that the King’s Church would be too happy to burn at the stake right now?’

The paladin Zibek has found himself in a complicated situation lately. He has been brought into a gathering of orc necromancers and naga agents and now he is joined by a noblewoman who is messing with Nether monsters.

However Azadin asked the question again saying that her knowledge and information were needed to resolve this situation.

“So. How do you think we can solve it?”

Azadin asked Mrs. Liz but an orc named Walter answered.

“Kill that middleman return the copies of the Book of the New King to the Light of the King and banish and seal the Wendigo again with the Light of the King!”

“Don’t make me laugh! This is a plot to kill me!”

    Mrs. Liz was furious.

“But why are you two facing each other?”

“My magic power and the orc’s magic power are clashing right now. If anyone pulls out here the one who pulls out will be killed.”

“That woman tried to run away so I put a binding spell on her to prevent her from running away. I returned the spell and now they are holding each other back.”

In other words the orc and the lord’s wife are like stags that fought each other during the breeding season and their horns became entangled causing them to both die.

“Kill that orc! Then I’ll deal with the Wendigo.”

“That’s ridiculous folks. Don’t trust that woman. She’s an evil woman! I can handle the Wendigo.”

“How dare an orc say such a thing!?”

    “You’re a witch too!”

Brand who was watching that scene suddenly apologized to Sir Brock.

“Uh um. I apologize for my harsh words earlier. Of course I don’t condone adultery but your wife is really scary.”

She’s a scary woman who would turn the person she cheated on into a monster just because he cheated on her. Of course it was Sir Brock who was at fault first but did she think it was too much to criticize him so harshly?

“What are you talking about? Oh by the way you are Secretary Brand and that man over there is Prince Guillaume Wald.”

“Yes. It’s been a while Mrs. Liz.”

    “ha.”

    Mrs. Liz bowed her head.

“What do I do now that I’ve been caught using nether magic?”

Even if she survives here it will become known in the noble society that she is a sorcerer who uses witchcraft. Moreover it is not only that she uses nether magic but she has had close relationships with the nagas here from the beginning.

She is in collusion with the Kurt gods behind the scenes and even though they are her enemies she forced the people of Hybris into the Kurt gods’ service so this woman’s sin is also enormous.

“In any case from your point of view you can’t afford to keep a woman who has an affair with the Kurt clan alive as the lord’s wife right? Let’s make a deal.”

An orc named Walter took up his axe.

“I will open the way so kill that witch! If we lose the summoner the Wendigo’s existence will be blurred so if you return the copy of the Book of the New King to the light of the King’s Flower the Wendigo will be sealed again!”

“Wait a minute. So what happens if you write the New King’s Book? Will it be lost?”

    Azadin asked about that.

“It will disappear. Well it won’t disappear completely. The Book of the New King will merge with the light of the King’s Flower and will reappear later when the conditions are met.”

    “….”

A copy of the New King’s Book is lost. It would be a shame to lose four pages of it.

However considering the Wendigo’s gigantic form it’s not time to consider the pros and cons if you can really seal it. The problem is what if the Wendigo isn’t sealed even after you return the Shinwangjinseo to the light of the King’s Flower?

Additionally I wonder if I should include the New King’s Book that Azadin has and if I do that Azadin will lose the materials to negotiate with the Aragasa of the messenger clan.

‘The reason I feel safe even though I’m under the curse of service is because I have the Book of the New King so if I lose it… Even if that weren’t the case would it be right to return the Book of the New King with the light of the King’s Flower now? The light of the King’s Flower will only continue to weaken as the nobles and kings become corrupt?’

As Azadin hesitated Mrs. Liz sensed his intentions.

“I can recover without losing the New King’s Book. Kill that orc!”

“That woman is a nether wizard worse than a warlock. No matter how low-level a creature a human is they wouldn’t be so stupid as to believe in a nether wizard right?”

Everyone was shocked to see the orc calling humans stupid when he should have been begging them to spare his life.

Meanwhile a sound like a wolf howling echoed through the underpass.

    “this.”

    “It’s a baby wendigo.”

The corpses inside the subway began to transform into small wendigos and start to rush towards us.

“I told you not to use necromancy but… I can’t help it in a situation like this!”

As the situation became more dire Scott McGreen made a gesture and stamped his feet on the ground.

    “Rise up! From beyond death!”

His shadow ran along the ground following the light cast by the glowstone and touched the corpses lying beneath the ice.

The rats broke through the ice and rose as undead. Even though they are rats they are about the size of small puppies. Their fleshy bodies plump from the waste flowing from the sewage shudder with ominous eyes.

    “good!”

The rats raised as undead by Scott’s magic ran across the ground towards the Wendigos. The Wendigos ignored the rats and tried to rush towards the humans but the moment the rats clung to the Wendigos Scott transformed into a water sign and crossed his hands.

    “Time bomb!”

The rats’ corpses exploded spraying their fluids and flesh onto the Wendigos.

    “Immortal!”

Scott fired a black magic bullet at the Wendigos covered in rat fluid. Two of the Wendigos that were hit twisted their bodies and jumped onto their fellow Wendigos starting a fight among themselves.

“Hmm. You’re only controlling two guys? Considering you used a lot of magical power… the magic doesn’t work very well?”

Scott put the canteen in his mouth drank the water in gulps took a step back and then made another water seal.

“I warned you not to use necromancy!”

When Jebeck got angry Scott responded humorously.

“Oh really? Did I just insult the dignity of the rat’s death? Is the King’s Church’s paladin getting angry at me on behalf of the rat because I used necromancy on the rat?”
