Night of the Soulless Heathens – 109

#109. There are too many corrupt nobles 2
“Damn it! Kill Guillaume Wald first!”
The Cell Sword Guild members decided to focus on Guillaume Bald who was their priority. They would rather complete the quest quickly and escape than be distracted by arrows flying from unknown directions.
“You bastards! You ignore me! You traitors!”
Guillaume Bald picked up his sword and mixed it with the sword of the Cell Sword Guild mercenary.
-Kakak!
In just one stroke the mercenary’s sword deflected Guillaume Wald’s sword and struck Guillaume Wald in the back of the neck. If he hadn’t been wearing a neck guard he would have died instantly.
“Ugh!?”
“Huh?!”
Everyone who was watching was shocked because the knife went into Guillaume Baldwin’s neck so easily.
‘What’s going on? Are you a noble?’
‘Normally nobles are good at sword fighting.’
Midiam and Ismail who were moving through the reed field and watching the situation clicked their tongues.
Unlike ordinary people who are busy trying to make a living and lose a lot of time nobles especially those from wealthy backgrounds have swordsmanship teachers from a young age and can receive all kinds of education. And don’t they have Yaegasu Shin clan blood flowing in them?
But how come the mercenary and the sword get hit the moment you mix them?
“…Sir Guillaume Wald is a dull swordsman.”
Brand gave a clear answer to everyone’s questions. Then he took up the single-handed sword himself and struck down the mercenaries of the Cell Sword Union instead.
“What is this old man!”
The mercenaries who defeated Guillaume Wald immediately tried to counter Brand’s attack with a sword but…
-Pfft!
To his surprise Brand’s spear swung and scattered striking the mercenary’s upper arm. The force was so strong that it broke his arm even though it hit through his armor.
“evil!”
The mercenary who had subdued the knight Guillaume Wald in a single strike was knocked to the ground by a single strike from the old man a former secretary. I don’t know if Guillaume Wald is weak or if Brand is naturally a warrior.
‘Probably both.’
Everyone who was watching thought so.
“I guess it’s not the kind of atmosphere where you can drive me crazy and resolve things peacefully. Should I go to work too?”

When Scott who was sitting in a wheelchair asked that question Zibek objected.
“No! Don’t use necromancy in front of me!”
Zibek was wary of Scott’s use of necromancy and took up the sword himself instead.
“What? Do you think a knight would be scared?”
“Do you think we’ve faced one or two paladins?”
Sword light danced among the mercenaries who charged forward with great momentum. Jibek instantly subdued four soldiers with his sword skills that were as smooth as water.
The mercenaries rolled to the ground with a crisp thumping sound. Some had their armor and helmets crushed and were bleeding from the nose while others had cuts in their calves and were busy trying to stop the bleeding by grabbing their hands.
“omg?!”
“…It’s so unbelievably strong!”
“What the hell!”
As Zibek stepped forward to protect Guillaume Bald the Cell Sword Guild members realized that things had taken an unexpected turn. Six people had fallen in the melee and even now arrows were targeting them from all directions. About a third of the 20 or so troops had been blown away in an instant.
The mercenaries whose morale was running low began to run away but arrows flew into their backs and legs.
“Eww!”
The Cell Sword members who clearly had the upper hand in numbers were unable to handle the small number of Azadin’s party and fell.
“Um… this is what I felt while looking at it.”
Scott McGreen looked at Shati who was sitting quietly next to him.
“I think I know why I can’t run away and am being held captive. If I try to run away I’ll end up on a skewer.”
“Shut up. You betrayed the empire. You won’t die a pretty death.”
Shati snapped at Scott clearly very angry.
“But then if the Nagas return alive they will think that you are also a traitor to the Naga Empire?”
“….”
What Scott said was true.
‘I will die unless you bring me back the New King’s Book as a gift.’
*********
“This is ridiculous.”
Guillaume Wald shook his head as if he couldn’t believe what was happening to him.
“What happened sir? Why did the mercenaries betray me?”
“When word of the Count ceased Prince Adler set out to reorganize the line to become the next Count Lantarik. Everyone who had gone had already joined Prince Adler.”
“Why Adler… These are the people I hired. Not my vassals!”
“Wouldn’t Sir Guillaume Bald have personally taken the money and gone to the Cell Sword Guild?”
“I did hire him through the caretaker but… Yes? No way?”
“It would be easier to think that not only the vassals but also all the janitors and servants are on Prince Adler’s side.”
“Wait a minute? Why is that?”
“Because Prince Adler is the true heir as determined by the Count.”
“I heard that. What I’m asking is why is that? Because Adler is handsome? Because your father adored Adler and ate with him since he was little?”
“What? Let’s eat together?”
Azadin who had been listening clicked his tongue.

“Okay calm down and let’s leave this place for now.”
Azadin tidy up the camp and prepared to leave.
“But I’m the eldest son. No matter how ugly I am how could this be?”
Guillaume Wald was still grumbling not understanding what had happened to him.
“Sir Guillaume Wald. You do not know the true face of the Count. That is because you are only a superficial son. The real Count is….”
Brand sighed and said.
“A black magician.”
“what?”
Guillaume Wald was furious when he heard that.
“How dare you insult my father?!”
“Lord Guillaumewald I know the Count better than you. No I say it. No one knows the Count better than I do and no one knows him less than you.”
“Cancel it! Teacher! Even for you that’s excessive!”
“Be glad that words are excessive. Reality is harsher than words.”
“Is this old man crazy!”
Guillaume Wald drew his sword and tried to swing it but Brand reached out and grabbed the hilt of Guillaume Wald’s sword stopping him.
“Don’t let this go! How dare you insult the descendants of the Yaegas clan by calling them black magicians!”
But Brandt tilted Guillaume Wald while still holding the hilt of his sword.
“Hey! Hey hey hey hey!”
Guillaume Wald stumbled and fell to the side. The energetic young knight had been pushed by the old man who was a former clerk.
‘Why are you so weak?’
Azadin was horrified at the sight of Guillaume Wald’s miserable appearance.
“Sir Guillaumebald. I discovered the Count’s secret and ran away but was captured by Donaire who had been instigated by the Count and lost my entire family. Well if I had just lost everything then I wouldn’t know. Donaire tortured me and fed my family to me. Do you understand what I mean?”
“uh.”
“The Count is my mortal enemy. That is why I love you. You are the child the Count loves least. Nevertheless just imagining that the Count’s blood flows through your veins….”
Brand’s breathing began to become ragged. Guillaume Wald was terrified at the sight of him growling like a rabid dog. It really looked like he was going to tear him alive. And the strength he felt when he held Brand’s hand…
‘This old man is more than enough to tear me apart.’
Guillaume Wald was horrified to see Brand going completely berserk. Then Azadin stopped him.
“Wait. Calm down. Brand….”
“hmm?”
Brand suddenly raised his head. The worry that had once covered his face with sorrow and pain disappeared and instead only innocent joy filled his face.
“Where is this? Where is this? Ah!”
Brand smiled brightly and took Azadin’s hand.
“He is a young man who knows chivalry well!”
“huh?”
Azadin was taken aback when he saw Brand’s expression change.
“There’s that Miss Shati too. What happened to the others? I remember escaping safely from Donair’s lair…”
“ah.”
The madness has gone from Brand. He has become the Brass Knight once again.
“Oh is it because I’m too excited?”
“This is what happens when you bring in a madman.”
Ismail grumbled and cleaned the pot with a bamboo brush then placed it on his goat saddle.
“Shouldn’t Brand be the one to guide us to the Emperor’s Mint? What should we do?”
The medium also asked in confusion.
“There’s nothing I can do. I have no choice but to wait until he comes to his senses. Until then….”
Azadin looked at Guillaume Wald.
“Sir Guillaume Wald. I think you should guide us to Lantaric.”
“Hey do you guys really think my father is a warlock?”
“I don’t know if he uses black magic. But I definitely saw him slaughtering the people of Salasma. He wasn’t a very nice person.”
“Oh but.”
Guillaume Wald grabbed his own face with his hands and tore at it.
“No just a moment.”
Medium came forward.
“Why on earth should we take Iza? Lantarik can just go and he’s not going to help us achieve our goal. If we take him with us Iza’s enemies will flock to us.”
When Medium asked that Azadin shook his head.
“No that’s not true. This guy is a great help.”
“Yes? Why? Even though Count Lantaric’s retainers and his beloved youngest prince’s gang won’t leave the author alone?”
“Instead we get justification.”
“What’s the reason?”
“Yes. Officially Sir Guillaume Bald is the rightful heir so if other vassals and princes attack they are traitors. They can be executed.”
“aha.”
Medium understood what Azadin was saying.
“We also have to take the wheelchair-bound orc with us. We have to attract people’s attention. That’s when we need a strong justification.”
“Instead of a wheelchair why don’t you just put me on a horse?”
“No. You’ll get muscle cramps in your legs.”
“….”
Usually people say you gain weight not muscle. But Scott flatly refused.
“Well I guess I should just accept that my leg muscles are going to get bigger since I’m a prisoner now right?”
Medium ignored Scott and asked Azadin.
“That’s what I think.”
“No. Why don’t I just change my appearance?”
Scott said and concluded the deal.
Jibek startled placed his hand on the hilt of his sword. He was on guard not knowing when or what Scott the necromancer might do. However Azadin stopped Jibek.
A moment later Scott transformed into his human form a muscular blond man sitting in a wheelchair.
“how is it?”
“Hmm. It’s almost unrecognizable.”
“Don’t be fooled by my attractive appearance. It’s a bit… insulting to be with a species with low intelligence like humans.”
“….”
At that moment Ismail jumped out and punched Scott in the face.
-Ouch!
“Eww!”
Scott who was muscular all over but had no talent for close combat screamed covered his face and rolled around.
“Hey. Hit gently.”
Azadin tries to stop Ismail but he doesn’t tell him not to hit him.
