Chapter 53: You need a professional to teach you
by Jessie@AFNCCSaeuno, a small, cat-sized monster, cried out his true name but like a snarling, ravenous beast, and the lights in the entire room were suddenly obscured by shadows as a result, and the windows shook!
A chill ran down the back of Jace’s neck at the bluff, and he had to squeeze the slip of paper containing the strangulation spell again.
After saying that, the kid was tired and kept gasping for breath, seeing Jace picking up the note again, his mouth open and spitting out his tongue and kept pulling his throat to exhale, his hand feebly pointing at the note but couldn’t make any sound, and he looked like he felt like tears were about to come out of his eyes.
But his eyes were full of fire, and surely he could shed no tears.
Jace knew what he meant and put the note away again before the kid poofed flat on his back.
“It’s tiring to call out one’s real name, master, remember that once and for all, and don’t make me do it again!”
Puzzled, Jace asked, “Do brats have stamina and can they get tired too? Aren’t you a demon, magical creature.”
“We do not have the physical strength that you mortals have.” Sëanor resumed his previous shrill motions, “But shouting out your true name takes mental energy, and mana, and this time I can’t use any more magic, I need to rest ……”
“But your real name is too hard to remember.” Jace rubbed his nose and said, “When you shouted it just now, it was so loud that I didn’t hear you clearly.”
“Does the master not know demonic language? That’s really strange enough.” Saeuno’s voice was full of helplessness, “If you don’t know demonic language, how could you have summoned me here? If one knows demonic language, memorizing the demons’ real names should be easy. The master is either a fool or he’s lying to me.”
Heh, stupid.
Jace suddenly realized …… right, why not follow this little kid to learn demonic language? Let this little kid look at the book that has orcish and another unknown language written in it, and by the way, don’t you just help him translate it?
Why did he not realize the benefits of summoning a demon until now? He felt like his mind simply wouldn’t turn before, why hadn’t he thought of summoning an evil demon to teach himself demonic language?
Actually, it’s not that his brain won’t turn, but he was a normal person before!
Thinking about it, Jace felt like he really was more than a few times crazier than he had been a month ago.
If he had been asked to consider summoning a demon a month ago, he would have thought he was crazy, but now it turned into thinking he was crazy for not considering summoning a demon!
“Well, never mind the stupidity, teach me demonic language.” Jace immediately said, “It’s the master’s order.”
“Whatever master says is an order …… master’s order I have to carry out …… ah, so tired, so many orders.”
Talking about it, the brat actually fell asleep.
How can you sleep at this hour?
Jace patted the brat’s face, and when he touched the other’s skin, he felt a discomforting chill, but it also felt like it was burning his fingers, a contradictory taste that made him subconsciously feel like he had touched something extremely unnatural.
Checking his fingers, but there was no fleshly damage, was this the touch of demon skin?
The little ghost looked up unhappily and said, “I want to rest …… master, and I want to forget my master s orders!”
“Disappear before you try to sleep.” Jace said in a cold voice, “Phase shift immediately and stop baring your appearance here. Do you know what will happen to you if you reveal your appearance in the human kingdom? From now on, you must be invisible whenever a third party is present, and you are not allowed to let anyone other than me see your appearance!”
Sëanor said lazily, “I’ll remember my master’s request, but what will the humans do to me?”
“Do you know what the Holy Light is?” Jace asked.
“Holy light? Holy light?” Sëanor shouted at the top of his lungs, “Is there such a thing as a Holy Light Priest in this world, and such a thing as a Holy Light Warrior?”
“In Azeroth they are called priests and paladins.” Jace explained, “Just a few hundred meters to the north there’s a Church of the Holy Light, and there are almost as many priests and paladins in there if not hundreds.”
“No!” Sëanor jumped up and said, “It was you, master, who dragged me into this fire! NO! Azeroth was supposed to be a wonderful world full of arcane magic, why did the Holy Light take over!”
Jace reprimanded, “You shut your mouth and then go invisible before you go to sleep!”
“I don’t have the strength to be invisible anymore …… I’ve been weakened severely by someone taking hold of my demonic true name, and now I can’t do it, master!” Saeuno yelled down helplessly.
At that moment there was a sudden knock on the door.
Jess glanced out the window, it was probably 2 or 3 in the morning and he was yelling at this hour ……
A kick sent the brat into the bottom of the bed and opened the door.
“Mr. Sesso.” The old neighbor lady came up to the door and said, “If there’s something sad you can’t sleep about, you can talk to me, an old lady, during the day, ah, I don’t have anyone to talk to on my own, but it’s too late now.”
“No …… nothing, ma’am.” Jess said, “I was just practicing for drama, I’m going to perform tomorrow and I was nervous that I wouldn’t pass. But I’m done getting it done and I’ll go to sleep soon!”
“It’s okay!” The old woman turned back toward the stairs with a shudder, and Jess slammed the door behind her, sitting up in bed with her heart pounding.
He glanced under the bed and the brat had fallen asleep.
Jace sat on his bed, thinking back to the conversation he’d just had with the Kid.
He realized something wasn’t quite right.
Sëanor obviously knew of the existence of the world of Azeroth, but didn’t seem to know much about the current state of Azeroth, or else he wouldn’t have been unaware of the fact that humans already had a belief in the Holy Light.
His knowledge of Azeroth was probably still stuck in the creation of the Titans, when the elves ruled the world during the ancient times, at least a few thousand years ago, and when the earliest days of mankind were still in the tribal age.
So why, then, did he pass on the terminology?
That being said, he did have something odd about his common tongue, not sounding like either a Stormwind City accent or a Lordaeron one.
Demons that die on Azeroth are not truly annihilated, but are banished demonic souls back into the Twisted Void, where they are reborn in their flesh when enough Shadow and Evil energy has been drawn.
If a demon died in the Twisted Void, it really died, which was why he was so afraid of that Demon King making him into soul fragments, because once he suffered such a fate, he was dead forever.
Can it be that he was once summoned to Azeroth a long, long time ago, learned the Common Tongue, and then accidentally died and was banished back to the Twisted Void?
He’ll have to ask nicely when he wakes up from his nap.
When did the universal language appear on Azeroth? Ancient Alasso era, or earlier?
Jace realized that he really didn’t know much about the subject, and that Marin’s book there was still something to read.
