Chapter 45: Deduct the money and that’s it.
by Jessie@AFNCC“What do you want, what’s the idea?” Jace sidled his head to Grid’s side, trying to act like he was too badly hurt to move.
Grid leaned against the doorframe and crossed his arms with his right hand and said, “Listen, it’s all about stepping up your sword training, stepping it up, stepping it up and stepping it up again until you’re made into a master swordsman. In the meantime, I’m going to step up my training, after all, even I myself haven’t reached that level yet na. That way, you can feel the thrill of pure combat, and enjoy the abundant satisfaction that comes from exercising your body and spirit, which is far more appealing than the dark energies of depravity! Speak for yourself, are the ugly, bloated orc warlocks more enviable to you, or is Darnas Tolbein, who led the legions into the Dark Gate, more admirable? You being a human, I think the answer is self-evident.”
“You’re right, it’s true that a hero like Darnus is more desirable.” Jace teased, “But compared to Darnas’ force, I envy him more for his nobility, no need to learn swords, no need to learn magic, just lay back and someone will take care of you and help you make money.”
Grid said, “Nobility? Haven’t you heard the old saying that even kingship doesn’t last forever, let alone noble blood. In the end, only the sword in your hand can be loyal to you forever!”
Just after the words were finished, he leaned back into the chair next to him and said, “But it’s really enviable too, so I can only blame my own ancestors for not being able to compete.”
Jace grunted and laughed out loud, laughing as his whole body gushed with pain from the bites.
After eating at the Giant Lake Farm, it had been a while since he had gorged himself on meat like this. He had thought that wolf meat might be tough and sour, like the meat of the seat wolves of the Twilight Forest, but it wasn’t actually that strange, it was rather like the donkey meat he had eaten in the past, and it was quite flavorful.
But when you think about it isn’t that what dog meat is?
After a night’s rest, and taking a few bundles of peeled wolf skin rolls with them the next morning, Grid and Jace set off back to Stormwind.
The two looked like wounded soldiers who had just retreated from the Red Ridge Mountains after losing a battle with the Jackals, and merchants and travelers along the way were asking them about the opening of the trade route between Lakeside Town and Glen Town.
The bounty for the operation, plus the reward for recovering the child, and the farmer’s 2 silver coins as an extra thank you, made a total of 9 silver coins, and Grid gave Jace 6 silver coins as a bounty for his outstanding contribution and as a “subsidy” for recuperating from his injuries.
However, since he only had four silver coins in his hand from the farmer, and he had to go to Old Town to collect the 5 silver bounty, Grid made up two more silver coins for Jace out of his own pocket.
The Twilight Forest had shared such a large amount of money with the Dwarf before, so he had to be more or less slightly more generous this time.
Taking these 6 silver coins brings Jace’s inventory in hand to 30 silver.
The wolf hunt had ruined one of the only three tops he had, and it was one of two thin shirts he wore in the summer, which meant that he was now out of clothes that he could change into, and it was time to go shopping for new clothes.
Storm City’s oldest clothing stores were concentrated in the Old Town, and most of the clothing in the trade area was exotic and not exactly cheap, but he was still covered in injuries, so making him walk to the Old Town was out of the question.
Jace propped himself up on that orcish baguette and moved to a ready-to-wear store by the canal – it was right in the center of the trade district, and from here you could see the fountains in the plaza and the accounting mercantile firms that the gnomes had built up, so it was now the most bustling place in Stormwind, and it was packed with people.
Since the experience of facing a pack of wolves a few nights ago, this stick in his hand had also become more and more eye-catching, and when he walked on the road, he always felt that someone would glance this way.
In front of this “Lionheart Equipment” not only sells clothing, even sell armor, but are generally travelers in the outside wear leather coat, or more complex simple iron plate armor, and because it is now the summer seems to be not good to sell, are hanging in the corner to eat dust. The half and full body wrought armor worn by the royal guards and knights of Stormwind City certainly does not exist.
After buying a Lordaeron style light brown linen shirt, Jace felt as if he had a new lease on life.
However, the gray pants that I was still wearing before were out of place, and these were scratched in places, so I added a pair of dark brown loose leather pants on the recommendation of the owner, sturdy and durable, the only bad thing was that they were a bit hot for the summer, but the summer was coming to an end.
But Jace wore pants to save money uniformly only one for the whole year, and these pants were perfect for winter in Storm City without freezing his legs to death, for summer without sweating in the heat, and for protection against plant thorns in the wilderness.
The upper and lower sets were bargained for a total of 4 silver coins, the pants were a bit more expensive, but considering how sturdy and beautiful they were, I let it go.
Back home for a nap and to put the stick down, Jace moved a little bit into the Wizard’s Sanctuary in the afternoon.
As the apprentices neared the end of class, Jace sat on the entrance to the turnstile and waited until Eden Marin came by.
“Mr. Sesso?”
Jace struggled to hold himself up and said, “Maestro, I’ve had an emergency the last two days, I’m really sorry, I was expecting to be back yesterday.”
“Went out to help in a fight?” Marlin looked at Jace’s slightly raised right leg and asked, “Or did you accidentally get bitten by a dog?”
“All in.” Jess replied.
Marin raised his glasses and said, “It doesn’t matter, recuperating is more important. It’s not like there’s much to do in the past two days, the deduction is just that.”
Jace sighed and was about to turn around and go home when Marin suddenly called out to him and said, “By the way, Mr. Sesso, there is one more thing about the orcish language course. I’ve already spoken to Master Duchamp, and you’re already on the list. He’s more than willing to take on new students, especially if they are very talented and good learners.”
Jess brightened up this time and said, “So when’s class?”
Marin said, “Two to three sessions a week, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon, you’ll have to miss that Wednesday morning session, after all, you have work to do, right? You can go to the language section there in the library and look at the literature on the Orcish language collected by various scholars and masters as a supplement to your advance study and missed classes. It’s just one floor down after you get to the topmost floor of the library, ask the administrator.”
Great, just look up those orcish literature and find the meanings of the word equivalents, and maybe we can unlock what’s on that scroll soon.
The next step was to just study hard, and soon he would be able to unlock what was on that complete book and the broken book, unlocking the magic secrets to go on to the top of his life, and Jace couldn’t wait any longer.
“Won’t you ask why Master Duchamp thinks you’re very talented and studious?” Marin asked suddenly.
“Huh?” Jace thought to himself it goes without saying, but asked, “How did that master know, I don’t seem to know him ……”
Marin smiled a little and said, “Because, of course, I present seriously good and extremely talented students.”
