    Chapter Index

After Grid sold the elf’s two weapons, he split 6 silver coins with Jace, which made a total of 24 silver coins for this trip to the Twilight Forest.

A trip to the car, and the cost of lodging added up to less than 5 silver coins for the two of them, so it was almost 20 silver coins of net income.

On the way back, I stopped by the rent collector on the corner to pay the four silver coins, and returned home to lie in bed, counting the rest of the silver coins and broken coins.

He didn’t want to think about depreciation of weapons or anything like that anymore, he’d just count the losses when those things went bad and broke.

The herb picking was much more frightening than Jace had anticipated, even running into extremely threatening competitors and falling into dangerous situations several times.

The problem is that in Azeroth, if you want to earn money, you either come from a good enough background to be born a descendant of nobility, or you have to trade your life for it.

Would it be feasible to search for herbs only in the forests of North Irvine, focusing on the more common and in-demand herbs such as the Nimbus?

If it was close to the settlement, even dangerous environments like Crow’s Ridge couldn’t find any herbs, let alone this side.

How safe was it to go far away, even to Irving Woods, away from the settlement?

Jackals, fishermen are the guys to beat, not to mention when it comes to picking herbs, both jackal and fisherman tribes are strong contenders, Ruth Lumire told them quite a few jackal and fisherman herbalists are much more professional than those in Stormwind City.

Finding a way to improve your strength is imminent.

It took him a long time to think about it before he fell asleep, and the next morning he woke up with a jerk before dawn.

Not having much to do, Jace came early to Marin’s study to get the room cleaned up and found a book on alchemy, Alchemy and Common Disorders, to read.

This afternoon he was going to start preparing his medicine, the skill of grinding the Claws of Evil, the essentials of drying and pulverizing herbs he had to master before he could do so.

Marin was seeing him reading carefully when he entered.

“You have an interest in alchemy, Mr. Sesso?”

“Yeah.” Jace said, “When I was little I used to dream of being a pharmacist or a doctor, but of course I was never in a position to study under a master. Now it’s too late, so I can only look at the related knowledge to quench my thirst.”

“I have an alchemy room right next door.” Marin said, “It may not be as well tooled as the alchemy room inside the Sorcerer’s Sanctuary, but it’s still fine for accomplishing some of the simpler recipes. You can experiment in there, but you have to bring your own materials, and you can’t take anything of mine from the cabinet.”

    “Really? Great!”

Jace was genuinely happy; on the way here in the morning he had pondered whether to buy a crucible or something from Alchemist’s Need, but then thought about the possibility of starting a fire in his rented house.

It’s all worked out now, a ready-made alchemy room. This job doesn’t pay much, but the perks are really first class.

“Make me a pot of tea, Jace.” Marin waved and said, “Go to the alchemy room and boil the water in the water bag in that brown pot, boil it and let it cool for five minutes, while it cools you can wash the teapot and put in a teaspoon of golden buckthorn, it should be ready to brew the tea at that point. Just brew it and bring the teapot to me.”

Jace went out to the alchemy room with his book clutched in his hand, and the wide array of assorted pots, pans, and bowls almost knocked him out at once.

Find the goldthorn straw bag, the teaspoon and the small brown pot on a small shelf, then start the fire and boil the water as Marin said.

He glanced at the marking on the water bag, it was written Clear Spring Water, this should be the Clear Spring Water required on the Shadow Protection Potion, that is, clear water without any magic staining.

When the water boiled and went off the fire, he quickly washed the pot and put in the goldthorn weed, glancing at his pocket watch which was still four minutes away, he sat down to read a book on alchemy.

Looking at it, he suddenly saw a paragraph in it describing the initial symptoms of being hit by the undead rotting poison, having difficulty sleeping at night no matter how tired he was, having carrion gas on his body, feeling the sun’s glare during the day, and feeling tired and powerless all over for no reason ……

Seeing this he thumped in his heart, it couldn’t be that he had been poisoned by the corpse, could it?

Turning back a page, I saw other symptoms, including vomiting green body fluids and veins in the arms that would show purple.

Jace reluctantly rolled up his sleeve and was seeing some less-than-clear purple lines on his arm.

Really? Did you really get hit?

At the bottom of this page it says that it can be severe and fatal within three to five months, but with early detection and proper treatment you can make a full recovery.

Thinking back to the time when he fought with those walkers in the Crow’s Ridge Great Cemetery, he couldn’t remember when he was injured, even when the ghouls sprayed venom towards him at the end, he dodged it.

It says in the book that only open wounds that are touched by undead rotting fluid or ghoul venom have a chance of getting undead rotting venom, so how can you get it if you’re not injured?

He began to rummage through his entire body, trying to see if there were any wounds anywhere that he hadn’t noticed, and finally saw a couple of small blackened holes in his calves.

What’s going on here …… snakebite?

He remembered the countless black beetles that had poured out of the final sarcophagus in that chamber, and Grid had sworn that even a bite from such a bug would not be a problem …… and those beetles had two large teeth!

If it won’t be a problem, why do the books say that contracting necrotic poison will kill you within a few months?

Jace suddenly realized that this was from a Dwarf, Dwarves were creatures that evolved from Earth Spirits and were far more resistant to poison than any other race, how could he listen to a Dwarf on a matter like poison?

    The water is going cold!

He touched the pot and ended up burning his hand hard; he made tea with his hands and headed for the study with the teapot, but his mind was all necrotic …… necrotic ……

“Why do you look soulful.” Marin sniffed the tea and said, “It’s not bad, made it like I told you, so you won’t need me to tell you later.”

After his shift ended at noon, Jace raced all the way to the library and began rummaging for a potion to cure necromancy.

Soon, he flipped to a formula – Nourishing Potion, which was one of the most effective and fastest formulas to deal with necrotic poison, not only could it improve the symptoms instantly, but also prevent the spread of necrotic poison and further remove the residual poison in the days afterward, and even restore the body damage caused by necrotic poison, and most importantly, it only required a single dose to get rid of it once and for all.

And this medicine is very simple to make, only need to use the golden echinacea …… which is also known as the tea of Master Marin, mixed with another single ingredient to simmer.

This material was, Jace turned the page – Elemental Earth?
