Chapter 226: Sneak Attack
by Jessie@AFNCCThe four jackals walked into the forest in pairs, and this camp was much cooler all of a sudden, no jackals grunting and making noise, and the few that were left fell silent, doing their own thing.
One of them, as if bored, turned and walked into the tent, and there was a chittering and noisy movement from inside, so it seemed that there was more to this camp than just the six guys on the surface, and that there were indeed others hiding in the tents.
At that moment, a jackal came up to the bonfire with a tiny burning torch in his hand, and was about to throw it into the bonfire ……
With a loud boom, the campfire ignited on its own!
The flames were of a highly unnatural color, like they were translucent with dark red, and at times a hint of an unsettling bright green bubbled up, startling the three jackals nearest to them.
“The party’s starting, idiots! Look over here! There’s good food in here!”
A strange shriek yanked the attention of all the jackals as a small burning fire escaped from the grass in a zigzag pattern, the closest jackal pulled a crossbow out of the small tent behind him and aimed it with a “shhhh”, and despite a quick reaction the arrow poked into the mud far away from the small fire.
“Kill! Devil! Kill! Devil!”
Several jackals shouted, one of them with a long knife was the first to leap out, the jackals chased extremely fast, two short legs like shivering running. The little kid now panicked, oops yelled, “Help ah you two idiots! Quickly come to save me!”
A lightning hammer that flashed with electricity smashed straight into the largest of the tents, blowing the entire structure apart with a loud bang, the jackals inside and even the jackal standing closest to the one who was picking up a spear didn’t even make a wailing sound before they were sent to their deaths.
The electricity flew back with an ow, and Grid ran wildly over to catch the hammer and slammed it down hard towards a reacting jackal, cracking its shoulder and spine with a single blow, and the jackal collapsed to the ground as if it had been snapped.
The jackal who shot the arrow high above hastily reloaded the bullet and aimed it at the dwarf who ran wildly past after the jackal swordsman, but he didn’t want to be stabbed through the throat thud from behind.
Jace kicked the jackal struggling with his throat away from him and drew his longsword and stabbed right through another jackal who had just picked up his spear.
Behind him another jackal came swinging his axe, which Jace easily avoided and kicked him aside.
As the jackal turned to take another axe, his clothes and fur suddenly burst into flames, ouch and panic.
“Burn! Haha! Didn’t you want to beat me, didn’t you want to kill me! Bastard thing!” From the distance came the brat’s triumphant shouts.
Jace took two steps over, seeing Jace running over, the fiery jackal jumped and tried to escape, Jace smoothly chopped his sword on this guy’s neck, unexpectedly, this sword sharply cut off the jackal’s thick head as a whole, and even the bones were sliced quite sharply!
To think that he had stuck his bone several times while hacking at those jackals on the stone fortress, and that the sword in his hand, fished out of a mercenary’s hand, was no better than those standard weapons of the stone fortress.
Having a reference to compare before and after in this way, Jace was able to get some real sense of his increased power.
At the bottom of the slope, the dwarf was raising his electrified warhammer towards two jackals who were frantically fleeing towards the south-west slapping the fire above their heads.
“Grider! Grider!”
He yelled before Grid remembered what the plan was and the electricity went out a little.
The dwarf turned back around and said, “Sorry, almost forgot.”
“Saeuno, come back.”
“Is the battle over?” The Kid growled and ran back.
“It’s over, back in my bag.”
“Geez, I can finally talk casually, and I’m surprised you two are still injured! I’ve been trying to tell you since a while ago that those humans over here are up to no good, they have the smell of blood on them, and they’ve killed their own kind! But you won’t let me talk, damn it, now I can finally say it, those humans have a crossbow most experienced, also the most difficult to deal with, should kill him first ah! The one with the crossbow has some magic in him! Then there’s the bald guy, he’s the leader! I think ……”
“Shut up!”
“Well ……”
Jace said, “That’s too high a delay, why don’t you start with Dalaran?”
The Kid smacked his lips, glared at the Dwarf, grabbed Jace’s cloak and climbed up.
“How dare you call me stupid.” Grid said as he walked up the slope, “I was just going to let it get mauled to death by jackals before I came back up.”
Jace chuckled twice and said, “I have to admit, it’s pretty useful.”
Grid nodded and looked at the jackal in the camp who was still rolling on the ground with his throat covered and said, “So now, we should just wait for their reinforcements to come? Do you think we should leave a survivor here to shout and attract their attention? Otherwise, if we’re all dead here, those Jackals shouldn’t have any reason to come over, right?”
“Kill them all.” Jace said, “Don’t forget they can talk, what if one of the jackals comes over and suddenly yells out that there’s an ambush alerting them, so kill them all. There’s meat in the camp, there’s weapons, and they’ll never give up on those things alone, and surviving in this forest won’t be much food with forty or fifty jackals.”
“Will Hogg be scared off?” Grider asked, “I don’t think that guy is that scared.”
“It’s not scary to run away, it’s scary to point out where we’re hiding.” Jess said, “I don’t want to be pulled out from behind a tree a second time.”
He glanced at the constantly moaning, neck-pierced jackal on the ground and thought to himself that if he had learned the language curse, this problem would probably be solved.
The language curse is an extremely vicious curse, he can make the victim can only spit out inexplicable demonic language, thus losing the ability to channel magic with spells, if placed on a jackal, it can make him lose the ability to communicate only blindly yell.
So the lambs already slaughtered still had to go more often, and it was necessary to get all the spells the guys could rummage up to do so, and the few spells Jace knew were just too limited right now.
Jace lifted his sword and said, “Now just shut those jackals up.”
The two walked up the slope and stabbed the jackals that would still be moving one by one, Grid looked around a bit and asked, “How are we going to ambush them? There’s too few leaves on the trees in winter to climb up and hide us.”
Jace pointed to a fallen tree trunk to the north and said, “Let’s hide behind that, since those two jackals ran in the southwestern direction, it means that their camp is probably near the riverbank over there, then it should be safer for us to hide in the north and not be copied from behind.”
