Chapter 21: “Two Against One”
by Jessie@AFNCCGrid said something in Elvish and slowly raised his back, and though his head wasn’t much above the grass, the large face, twisted in anger, was clearly on display.
The elf, for his part, was completely unconcerned, saying a phrase in Dwarven word for word and then cracking a smile.
Grid gritted his teeth and bellowed his whole body popped out, the elf smiled and strung his bow, his arm so slender yet containing extreme strength, easily drawing the bow full and loosening it, the arrow then shot bullet-like at the dwarf who rushed past!
In a flash of lightning Jace hadn’t even reacted yet, the latter had already taken out a small round shield from his back and accurately knocked the arrow away!
The dwarf was still running wildly through the grass, the smile on the elf’s face had disappeared as he grabbed the second arrow and glanced forward, then let go again.
Grid was too fast, there was no room to draw his bow.
Elf arms crossed in front of the chest, elegantly from the waist to draw a long and a short two scimitar, calmly avoided Grid’s long sword of a stabbing attack, back to the double sword at the same time down was the dwarf with a shield directly hit away, however, the right hand short sword of a blow is just a false strike, a false swing rubbed through the shield and then stabbed the dwarf’s waist …… Dwarf’s reaction is also very fast, the raised round shield slammed down hard to knock away the blades. Lift up the round shield hard down to smash the elf’s blade, the elves follow the trend of spinning back two steps, and then look at the two swords a high and low has been set up a stance.
Grid threw his small round shield to the side in a smooth motion, cursed in Dwarven, and switched to holding his sword in both hands, this time the elf’s face was already much more serious than it had been a moment ago, and ready to meet the attack with all his might.
These two or three rounds of staggering in the back looking at the Jace has looked silly, this level of fighting their own rush up is not rubbing a side to be stabbed two or three holes?
But Grid was not dominant, and if he lost if he didn’t help then he was even more dead, so he pulled out his axe and circled around as well.
The elf noticed the movement on this side and his eyes slanted for only a moment before Grid charged with a roar and raised his sword, he frowned and braced the fierce slash with his twin blades, however the dwarf’s strength was too great and he was able to press the blades hard into his shoulders.
The elf gritted his teeth and glanced at the Stormgarde fist emblem on the hilt of his sword, behind him Jace had killed!
Jace swung his axe roughly across towards the elf’s waist, and the elf grunted, turning his neck a bit to dislodge the force of the dwarven sword’s downward pressure while stepping aside to avoid Jace’s horizontal slash, getting out of the way like a sleek mongoose.
He took consecutive steps back to place both Jace and Grid in front of his eyes, his eyes following the strands of his blonde hair as it slid down the dwarf’s blade.
“Just for a blade of grass, eh?” The elf looked at the two men and said, “Don’t want to die?”
“Aren’t you?” Jess said, “You’re two against one.”
Grid said, “It’s no longer about the grass, pointy-eared mouse, be a good boy and die.”
“Yes.” The elf looked at Jace and said, “It’s not about the grass anymore, Mr. Dwarf wants his meaningless honor and dignity back, and I, for one, don’t want him to get it back.”
“Die!” Grid roared and swung his sword, the elf just grunted and deflected the dwarf’s diagonal stab with his longsword, took two steps back and directly threw the short blade in his hand, the short blade grazed Grid’s calf sharply cutting a bloody gash into the dirt, Grid fell to the ground with a muffled grunt.
“Grady!”
Jace obviously couldn’t keep up with the pace of the two, seeing that Grid was going to suffer he simply threw his axe straight up, the lumbering axe spun around and flew towards the elf with precision, only to be easily dodged by the elf.
“Human, are you out of your mind?”
Jace looked at Grid, who was about to climb to his feet, and the elf, who was squinting at him, and suddenly had a bad idea in his head.
He silently recited a short English conversation he had memorized before something like HOW ARE YOU pretending to recite a spell, while gesturing his hands in front of his chest in the same way Sulunna had cast the spell in the basement.
Startled, the elf immediately waved his hand in panic and pointed it this way, the corners of his mouth moving slightly, and for a few moments Jace suddenly felt as if a string had been broken in his head, as extremely strong ringing in his ears suddenly engulfed all of his consciousness.
For a moment it seemed as if the whole space was pressing towards him, he opened his mouth but couldn’t speak, wanted to roar but couldn’t roar, the sky in front of his eyes was spinning and he couldn’t stand up at all.
After a moment of trance he fell to the ground and ate a mouthful of mud, in the afterglow he watched as Grid climbed to his feet and punched the elf in the jaw, sending the elf flying a couple of meters away to fall to the ground and graze out some distance.
Jace couldn’t help but let out a naive laugh, the elf had fallen for it, he thought he was going to cast a spell so he was doing everything he could to stop himself.
Originally he had thought that his opponent might throw a flying dagger or shoot an arrow to interrupt his efforts.
He hadn’t intended to cast any spells, his energy was all on the other man, so he was confident he could dodge as much as he could, or at least not let the casual blow hurt his vital parts to buy Grid time to counterattack, but he didn’t realize that the other man had put a spell to choke himself out.
Was this what it felt like to be countered by a spell? He felt like he’d been hit in the back of the head by a wall.
“Enough!”
Just when he thought that Grid had gained the victory, the elf stood up with a roar, recited a spell, and Grid was pinned right in place by a piece of ice that had grown hard out of the ground, and couldn’t pull his legs out of the ground no matter how hard he tried.
“You two idiots …… I’m so sick of this.” The elf announced as he backed up and pointed at the two men, “I’m going to take this grass, how about that? Come on you guys, beat me up, two out of your minds …… I’ve had a really bad day. Let’s see what else you can do and how else you can stop me!”
He was already walking with a limp and his shouts were breathless. He touched his fisted cheek and cursed as he made his way over to the Imperial Blood Grass, when a sudden, abrupt metallic scraping sound choked his chatter.
“Ah!!! Kill me, dead dwarf, shaggy monster, blind dog, and that goddamned short-lived monkey, I’m going to burn down Shining Gold, no, I’m going to avalanche the snow from Ironforge and bury your old home, I’m going to kill every last one of you lowly mongrels in this world ……”
The elf’s insults quickly turned into whimpers, and Grid waited for him to finish before saying, “I can’t help you remove the beast’s trap if you don’t help me remove the ice.”
“Tear down? Tear it down? Curse the broken thing the dwarf made, it must be broken to make it so hard to take apart!” The elf yelled with a sobbing voice.
“Older brother.” Grid said as he looked over at Jace, who had been slammed over here with a spell counter to his head, “Go take a look at what goodies he’s got in his bag.”
Upon hearing this, Jess immediately perked up.
