Chapter 184: You’re singing and I’m on stage.
by Jessie@AFNCCWhen they returned to Dushan’s doorstep in the evening, several mages in Kenrito robes were standing there talking to Dushan about something.
At that moment, a mage facing this way seemed to see Jace, and although Jace had no idea where he had seen him before, he immediately pointed this way.
A man pointed at Jace and asked Dushan something, Dushan followed the direction of the finger and saw Jace, his face suddenly looked helpless.
He said something and everyone looked over in unison, like a large group of Smiths in the Matrix when they see Neo.
What is this, the secret police?
Especially after experiencing yesterday’s skepticism towards Kelsugard, Jace felt a chill in his heart.
He now felt that the only reason Talon Blood Demon knew his name was that Kelsugard had told him, or there was no other possibility at all.
Was it because of what Jace said in the meeting that made Kelsugard feel dangerous, or was he afraid that he guessed that there was some connection between it and the Death Knights, so he wanted to kill and silence them?
In any case, as far as having Talon Blood Demon come over several blocks to hunt himself down?
Isn’t it a bit too anxious …… But for a mage who secretly researches necromancy, dark magic, in the middle of Kenrito, it’s normal to be anxious for fear of being exposed, and Jace surely understands this point in particular.
But in that case, Korsugard is rather more suspicious.
So should we run away? Were these Kenrito mages sent by Klsugard to keep patching things up?
Running was useless anyway, Jace couldn’t run out of Dalaran even if he could, these Kenrito mages would surely be able to catch themselves.
At this point, no matter what the other party is here for, they can only meet it with their necks bent.
It was a good sign, however, that the mages didn’t immediately rush up and pounce on themselves on the ground.
It shows that these people, whatever their intentions, are at least trying to talk properly.
After thinking about this, Jace cleared his throat and took a step toward the front, looking as calm, innocent, and deserving as possible.
The leader, a brunette Kenrito mage who looked rather young, looked up when he saw Jace approaching and said, “I’m Wayne Harrist of the Defense Division, and it’s Mr. Jace Sesso, isn’t it, nice to meet you.”
“Yeah, I’m Jace Sesso.” Jace looked at Duchamp and said, “This ……”
“Master Carlo Duchamp doesn’t know the situation either.” Harriet said, “We were ordered here by Kenrito to investigate a lead on a theft.”
He glanced at the bandage on Jace’s shoulder and said, “May I ask how this was caused, Mr. Sesso?”
“I met the Death Knight last night.” Jace said.
“It seems to be recovering well.” This mage from the Ministry of Defense took a look at Dushan’s house and spoke to Dushan again, “Master, can we go in and talk?”
Dushan quickly said, “Of course, please come in.”
The group of mages all acted as if they were criminal police, despite their short vestments and long cloaks.
Jace, while not being grabbed and controlled by anyone, was practically swarmed and squeezed into Duchamp’s house.
“Does Mr. Sesso live on the first floor?”
“I’m on the third floor.”
“Then we’ll talk on the third floor.”
Jace’s room, though tastefully furnished, was generally cramped as hell.
He thought to himself that it was a good thing he hadn’t brought that staff back with him, or he wouldn’t have been able to say anything at all about whatever these guys were planning to come over and ask.
After just a moment of celebration, he suddenly realized the warlock’s bag that he had tucked under the bed.
I don t know if Dalaran Xing Xing the search warrant thing, does he have the right to refuse the search …… should not.
A couple of mages stayed downstairs and at the door as Harriet walked upstairs with another female mage, and Jace felt himself almost pressed into his chair by the aura of these two.
For his part, Harriet leaned against the window and said, “The Ministry of Defense sent me here mainly to find out about that letter, Mr. Jace Sesso, and I think you can guess what happened, the theft last night probably had a lot to do with what was described in that order.”
Jace immediately said, “I knew it, I strongly suggested to Master Kelsugard in last night’s meeting to strengthen the defenses of the treasure vault, those Death Knights must be working with the Black Dragon to distract Dalaran’s defenses outside then sneak into the treasure vault to steal one of the three holy relics they think they have, I predicted it long ago! And have made my point as best as I could in the meeting!”
“Am I right?”
He stood up and stared at Harriet, who was clearly not expecting Jace’s reaction.
“Please calm down, Mr. Sesso.”
“Master Kelsugard doesn’t value the opinion of a little apprentice like me at all! Even though he is in a high position …… he can’t be so arrogant, can he?”
“Please …… calm down, sir, no one wants this to happen, and Master Kelsugard is sorry.”
Jace Sesso sat back in his chair, his hand tapping the tabletop over and over.
He was considering how to make himself look a little more stupid without being so stupid that it looked like a performance. It would be fine if this man wasn’t sent by Kelsugard, but if he really was sent by Kelsugard to find out the truth, then he would have to take advantage of the opportunity.
Being held a grudge by a member of Kenrito’s Council of Six was definitely not an easy thing to do, and Jace wanted to make Kelsugard relax a little bit, and not keep thinking that he was always trying to risk getting himself killed just to hide his secrets from such a small and unthreatening character.
“I’ll try.” He whispered.
The two mages looked at each other, and Harriet asked again, “So, can you tell us why you suddenly went out last night?”
“I wanted to go find my friend, who had suffered an injury and hadn’t recovered yet. As it turned out, halfway there, I encountered a very powerful death knight that nearly killed me.” Jace said, “I believe that was Talon Blood Demon himself, it had to be him in person.”
“What makes you so sure that’s Talon Bloodmage?” Harriet asked skeptically.
Jace said angrily, “Or else what, no one could even have that kind of power if it wasn’t for him, that’s just a demon! If it wasn’t for those elf rangers I’d be dead now, deader than a death knight. And you wouldn’t be able to talk to me at all, Honorable Master Wayne Harrist.”
“Last night was an unforgettable disaster for every resident of Dalaran.” Hariste finished his sentence and then turned his words around and asked, “Your friend is a Brute Hammer Dwarf, is he not?”
“A Stormwind Mage Apprentice, a Brute Hammer Dwarf …… Slow down.” He then looked at the female mage next to him and asked, “The mage apprentice’s name was ……”
“Cecil.” The female mage reminded him, “That would be the gentleman.”
