Returning to Grid’s side, he called out from a distance, “What took you so long, so much to talk about?”

Jace asked rhetorically, “What are you in such a hurry for.”

“It’s just the right time of day to be less crowded, so hurry up and get in there and see how you’re hurt.” Grider pointed to the door of the building in front of him, “Just in case if they’re having another lunch or something at noon.”

Jess said, “I’m not in that much pain now …… It’s not like it can’t wait.”

“No or my medicine works!” Grid said, pointing to the group of elves over there, “Or do you still think a couple of chats with a pretty girl cured it?”

“The beautiful woman who saved my life last night.” Jess said, “Unlike you, always afraid I’ll die slow.”

Grid pointed at Jace’s nose and tried to say something for a moment, not thinking of the right words, when Jace suddenly said, “You know what that Windwalker, told me?”

“Okay, the bragging session has begun.” Grid chuckled smugly, “You heroically saved a girl and she wanted to marry you in return for a favor only to have you turn her down? I stopped playing these routines fifty years ago, Jace Sesso, it’s no fun.”

Jace opened his mouth and lowered his head looking at him so tugging he really didn’t want to say anything but give him a kick in the ass.

“She, I think, wants to help you with your eye problem.”

“Uh, huh?” Grid blushed for a moment, “What do you mean, she’ll cure this.”

Jace said, “Her sister is a Ranger General in Silvermoon City, and may have so much as a connection to a botanist in the nobility of Silvermoon City.”

“Really?” Grider asked, “Why is she willing to help me? Why is she willing to help you?”

Jace said, “Of course I was the hero who saved her life, she was going to marry me in return for a favor, then I turned her down and felt bad so she was going to make up for it.”

“Hahaha I’m talking nonsense, don’t be angry.” Grid patted Jace’s arm and asked again, “So when are we going to Quetzalcoatl? I really don’t want to wait a moment.”

“To Cintron.” Jace said, “There’s nothing she can do to get us into Quel’thalas, but she can get that elf botanist out of Quel’thalas, that’s what she said anyway.”

Grid scratched his beard and said, “So we’re leaving tomorrow, ah, tomorrow morning! Morning! But can you ride in a wagon with that shoulder injury?”

“I’m going to consult with Master Duchamp first.” Jess said, “As for the injury ……”

He thought to himself that he had drank from the water bottle of the Well of the Sun, so it wasn’t so bad that he couldn’t deal with this, was it?

“We’ll see about that tomorrow, we’ll go in the morning. Meet up at Sky Blue Encounter and you get your bags ready to pack ahead of time. By the way, Grid, don’t you still have a job at the tavern?”

Grid said, “The dwarf couldn’t do it himself, and after the mess yesterday, he was worried about another problem, so he paid out his paycheck and planned to go home early.”

“Didn’t pay you much!” Jess asked.

“He dares.” Grid muttered, “It’s not like those living dead were listening to me to cause trouble, so I’ll pay what I have to.”

When he finished, he gave a big stretch and said, “Gosh, I can finally fix it, I never thought I’d be able to see with two eyes again, it doesn’t feel like it’s even like real, and this elf is really enthusiastic about it!”

“So what exactly did you do last night? Did she save you, or did you save her?”

“Save each other.” Jace whispered back.

Grid looked over and narrowed his eyes, and Jace glanced at him, touched his lips and nose, and asked, “What are you doing? Something on my face?”

The dwarf suddenly asked, “You don’t fancy her, do you?”

“You’re seeing something here that I didn’t feel myself.” Jace said.

Grid nodded his head meaningfully and said, “I’ll give you a word of advice, kid, those female elves look cold and polite and prudish on the surface, but that’s just pretending in the human city, and in reality in Quetzalcoatl they’re all sluttier than one another! Be careful, don’t fall for those elves’ tricks.”

“What’s she lying to me for, I’m not a prince or a nobleman.”

“Who told you that elves value these things, or where do you think all those half-elves wandering the streets without fathers or mothers came from? Can’t human nobles even afford a mouth that only eats cookies?”

“Ah, you mean that.” Jace smiled, “Just say so straight out if she’s going to be on it, there’s no telling who’s going to be on it.”

“You’re on the verge of going the way of those fools.” Grider said, “Thinking you’re in control of the whole situation, you just play along and forget about it, and you end up deep in the muck.”

“Those idiots?” Jess said, “That’s you, isn’t it?”

“Shut up.” Grider said, “That’s not the point, just listen to me properly.”

“Come outside the elves have played tired of those physical pleasures, more fancy is that something, really easy to get tired, even if mortals and beasts and what is the difference? But feelings …… are completely different, with each person, each race, a change of environment, a change of parents …… have a completely different experience, this is a deeper, more difficult to pursue the excitement, but also those elves are more interested in! You think a female elf will fall in love with you, have a real relationship with you, just like the humans you are familiar with, no, they are just digging deeper into you, exploring stranger feelings. One day she suddenly finds something fresher, more interesting, and will immediately stick it to you, without caring about your existence at all …… or even when the time comes, a duel between you and her new love will be something they will find more enjoyable, more satisfying.”

Jace’s eyes grew wide and his mouth chattered, “What the hell have you been through that you’re playing so wild in Cintron?”

“Shut up!” Grid continued, “People usually joke about bringing an elf home and brag about it to each other, but don’t really wind yourself up, Jace! They can live for two thousand years while you can only live for a few decades, do you think they’ll take you seriously? I don’t want to have to comfort your trauma every day from now on.”

“Is this about me and the windwalker?” Jace asked, “Do you think that’s possible?”

“It’s the same for all female elves.” Grid said, “I do think you’re getting close to that dangerous edge, so it can’t continue to be taken as a joke. Go back to Stormwind, or go to Lordaeron, and find a human girl who really loves and cares for you and can only live sixty years, know what I mean? Don’t keep thinking about some alien monster. Speaking of which, do you have some special fetish, something like having to grab two long ears to get the feeling?”

“I haven’t caught it how do I know.”

“You could try a troll, I’d say.” Grid giggled twice.

Jace looked over to the elf side again, where Winressa was still standing, occasionally saying something to a couple of the elves next to her.

Thinking about the conversation just now, even though Winressa had done herself and Grid a great favor, she only wished to repay Jace for his help. Perhaps it was because of the difference in race, or something else, that uncomfortable sense of distance that always separated them.

Now that I think about it, even if it’s the water from the Well of the Sun, is it considered anything important or not?

Maybe only a child like him who grew up on the dirt roads of Lordaeron’s royal city would find it remarkable, and maybe it wasn’t anything special for the youngest daughter of a noble family like Windwalker. But to say that he hadn’t fantasized about anything at all was of course impossible.

Even from the very beginning of his arrival in this world he was looking forward to picking one, or maybe all of them, from the three Windrunner sisters, or whatever Gianna, Jialia, or even the Black Dragon Princess Red Dragon Queen or something like that.

Of course that thought didn’t last long before it was doused with the cold water of reality that came pounding down on him in the rush and fire of the crossing.

Grid looked at Jace for a long time without speaking and asked, “What are you thinking, you’re not really interested in female trolls, are you?”

    “Try it sometime.” Jace said.

“Ahem …… I’m just saying, are you for real?”

“After all, you only live once, Dwarf, and besides, for a troll, I’m a bit taller than you.”
