    Chapter Index

It had been raining, and I don’t know if it was because of the rain curtain, but the arcane glow in the sky was no longer visible at all.

Yet the dragon’s roar that came from the south every now and then was still appalling in this rainy night’s alley.

Jace walked down the stairs, honestly feeling like he was on the verge of not being able to walk anymore.

If it hadn’t been so close to the spiral alley that Dushan had said it was, he probably wouldn’t have had the strength to continue that way at all.

Descending the stairs, Jace glanced casually toward the spot where Talon Bloodmage’s husk had fallen, only to see a faint shadowy glow.

Curious, he moved over just in time to see a shattered piece of black metal on the floor, and in the center of the pile was a round, blood-red jewel that glowed with a shadowy light.

Is this the jewel that burns in the center of that Warhammer of the Blood Demon?

Jace was just about to walk over when he saw a shadow stand up next to the blood demon’s body.

    It was a walker.

Jace hadn’t wanted to go over there and fight him again, and then it suddenly occurred to him that he didn’t have an elf’s knife in his hand.

He tried to approach with his sword in hand, and the living corpse left the blood demon’s body and came this way, carrying a broken sword in his hand.

As his opponent stumbled over to him, Jace grabbed his knife and slashed straight through, cutting off the arm of the walker holding the sword.

Immediately a silver flame emerged from the walker’s arm, then gradually turned into real fire, after burning for a while the walker took several steps back, Jace went after him and chopped off his head with a knife.

It would be nice if this knife didn’t have to be returned ……

The Blood Demon’s body had turned into a black mess like the Death Knight before it, with only the blackened and torn cloak still visible in shape.

Jace picked up the still glowing gem and placed it on the gem rest of his staff, which surprisingly fit just right.

    But should he say surprising?

Perhaps the gem was originally taken from this staff.

Jace tried to use that knife to cut off the outermost layer of Talon’s shrouded cloak from that pile of corpses, cutting off a piece to use to wrap his staff, and as the knife cut the cloak, it burst into flames all at once!

Ah …… this knife, really not long for the eyes.

Jace took a step back and watched as the cloak burned, the fire smoldering as it danced through the rain, and then dying out again a short while later.

He pulled off a burnt piece of cloth and wrapped the staff and the jeweled wrapping around his head tightly, making sure nothing could be seen on the outside before he reattached the staff to his back and walked out of the alley.

Tonight he was afraid that he had already overdrawn his mana to the point where it couldn’t be destroyed physically or mentally. Thinking about the crazy hallucinations he had when he used the life shunt on the roof, he was almost on the verge of thinking that it wasn’t himself anymore.

Are the warlocks in the game this exciting when they move this magic?

    It’s unimaginable.

Walking alone through the streets of Dalaran, it was only when relaxing that he noticed some of Dalaran’s inhabitants peering out of the windows on the side of the road.

They were still completely unaware of what had happened to the city, thinking it was just some kind of monster invasion or that some orcs had slipped in or something.

By this time, his left shoulder was getting sore and he didn’t have much strength left.

Is the power of the Shadow, traded for life’s vigor, about to disappear?

I don’t know how long he had been walking, but Jace suddenly saw a store down the street named “Copperbeard’s Wine”.

The streets do rotate here, so this is Corner Tree Lane, right?

Jess stepped forward and slammed the door as hard as he could.

    “Anyone!”

    “Open the door!”

“I’m looking for Greedy Thunderfist, does he work for you?”

It was only after this that someone finally opened the door.

Inside, a dwarf poked his head out and said, “Who are you?”

    “I’m a friend of Grid’s.” Jace said.

The dwarf looked him up and down and said, “He ran out ages ago!”

    Sure enough.

Jace sat down on his ass as the pain hit his body all at once.

Grid ran out in such a hurry, most likely to find himself, and the two probably missed each other halfway.

He crouched down and buried his head in the arm’s finish of his right arm for a moment to calm down.

So it’s still a walk back.

The roar of the black dragon seemed to be out of earshot at this moment, and the city was much quieter than before.

Jace stood up with all his strength and was about to go back the way he came when he saw a dwarf standing at the end of the street staring motionlessly this way, looking like one of those revived guards.

Looking at the dark figure, a cloud of unknown emotions welled up inside Jace.

    Fear, despair, sadness, or ……

Facing Talon Blood Demon head on didn’t even scare him this much.

Jace couldn’t stop his lips from quivering as he blinked away the rain and gripped the knife in his hand with his right hand.

At that moment, he saw that the dwarf also raised the warhammer in his hand, the warhammer of the dead griffin knight from Southsea Town. The two men started up at the same time, and Jace clenched his teeth, while the dwarf roared out like a madman, and Jace couldn’t help but roar out, shouting at the top of his lungs, while the dwarf roared and turned into a loud cry.

Immediately as they collided, Jace felt that something didn’t seem right.

    Do dead people cry?

    “Wait wait wait! Slow down!”

Jace yelled and carved the car, and the dwarf stopped as if he understood, when the hammer in his hand suddenly sprang to life with a bit of electricity, then went out again.

“Are you dead or alive?” Grider asked, pointing at his nose.

“Of course it’s alive!” Jace threw everything in his hand to the ground and lay straight down, yelling at the sky, “You’re going to scare me to death!”

“You think I’m not?!” Grid growled and kicked at his leg.

“AHHHH!!!” Jace yelled as he sat up violently in pain, “Do you know what I’ve been through? You asshole, how dare you kick me?”

“I’ve killed at least three walkers who thought it was you!” Grider pointed at Jace, “I was scared to the point of cardiac arrest with each one I encountered!”

“I almost killed Talon Bloodmage.” Jace said in a daze.

“What?” Grid froze for a moment and asked, “Is it the Talon Blood Demon I think it is?”

“It’s the Talon Blood Demon you think you are.” Jace looked at him and said, “I killed a Death Knight trying to find you, and fought Talon Blood Demon himself, and was stabbed through the shoulder by his own hand.”

    “Huh? Your shoulder?”

Grid wanted to reach out and touch it, but didn’t dare to actually do so.

Jace pointed to his shoulder as all the pent up emotions of the night came pouring out.

“Look at my blood, Grid …… look at my blood is about to turn black. Just for the sake of coming out to find you, just because you don’t know what to do every time you encounter a little something all the way crazy like looking for death everywhere! If you even a little bit cherish their own little life, I would not be like this!”

But after venting, Jace realizes that if Grider had really changed, would the two of them still be friends?

“My bad, Jace.” Grid whispered, he blinked and added, “But your blood is red.”

    “Uh ……”

Jace looked at the blood on his hand and it was indeed red.

Is this the reason for the potion?

Come to think of it, the pain did lessen a lot after drinking Winressa’s potion, and while the shoulder still hurt, it didn’t have the same deep ache it had just had when it was penetrated.

Now, his anger subsided quite a bit. Just now, he thought that he was dead, and even if he didn’t die, he would lose half his life.

Sitting on the steps under the eaves of the house, thinking about the strange potion that neither looked like that recovery potion Kefal was holding, nor did it look like some kind of red life potion like that, the potion couldn’t tell what color it was, it was just weird.

Thinking back to when Kefal drank it seemed to have recovered quite a bit after only a small amount of cornea, while he himself took it over and drank a large mouthful straight …… Winressa seemed to be a little stunned.

At that time he was completely tormented by the Necromantic energy he had sucked in to the point where he didn’t have the heart to think about so many questions anymore, and it wasn’t until this time when he relaxed that he was able to think back properly, and it seemed like that vial of medicine really wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.

Will it be expensive as hell?

But did an elven noble like Windwalker look like a master who lacked money?

But it wasn’t really appropriate anyway, so I’d better ask seriously when I returned the knife to her.

    Lift the knife ……

Jace looked to his hand, the knife was surprisingly gone.

    “My knife.”

“Yours?” Grid was flipping around with the knife, “It’s an elf thing, how did you get it?”

Jace wiped a handful of rainwater from his face and sat up, saying, “Of course the elf gave it to me, I was fighting with Kefal Brightwing, and a female ranger with Talon Blood Demon, and afterward I said I was going to look for you, and the female elf saw that I didn’t have much of a weapon in my hand, so she lent it to me.”

“It’s ……” said Grider as he glanced the knife sideways, “Good stuff, and it’s enchanted, so how could she be willing to lend it to you? She’s not afraid you’ll take the knife and run? If this thing sells ……”

“That’s why no one will lend you anything to use.” Jace snatched the knife away from him.

“I’m just saying.” Grid said, “Tell me quickly how you fought Talon Blood Demon, it’s a shame to miss such a fight.”

“Let’s find a place to get out of the rain first, I don’t know if there are any living dead out there.”

    “Go to my house.”

Jace told the story of how he had left the meeting place as he followed Grid all the way to his rented room, which wasn’t much bigger than Jace’s house in Stormwind, and the whole thing smelled strongly of mushrooms.

“You keep talking and I’ll look at your wounds.”

Grid opened the old cabinet, dragged his sack out, and began rummaging back and forth in it.

Jace sat up on the bed and took a couple of breaths, he had to say that the bottle of Walesa’s stuff was pretty potent, the dead taste in his mouth was gone by now.

He proceeded to tell the whole story, only downplaying the final part where he used the life shunt.

Grid came over with a couple of bottles and jars, looked at Jace’s shoulder, pulled out the ointment, and said, “It sounds like the elfess played a major role.”

“Pretty much, she’s Winressa Windwalker.” Jace said.

“What? Aurelia Windwalker’s third sister?” Grid’s entire body shivered.

“That’s the one.” Jace showed his teeth and said, “Can’t you be honest when you’re dabbing?”

“I see, so this is a Windwalker family knife?” Grid glanced at the knife Jace had placed on the table and asked, “Didn’t you cut something to try it?”

“Tried it, too bad you didn’t see it.” Jace said, “If you turn into a walker, I can use it to stab you to death again so you can feel it.”

“It’s worth dying under this blade, my little brother.” Grid sighed and added, “Speaking of which, Jace, I can only give you a brief treatment for the wound on your shoulder. The Black Dragon seems to have planned to retreat, so I don’t know when the city will settle down. When that time comes, you’ll have to make another trip to those healers in Dalaran.”

“Just a little serious?” Jess asked.

Grid continued, “According to you, Talon Bloodmage pierced your shoulder with your staff …… The wound should have been particularly scary, but now it looks like it’s already showing signs of coming back, are you sure it was pierced? How much did it hurt?”

“Huge pain.” Jess said, “I’m nailed to the wall, don’t you think?”

Grider said, “You haven’t passed out from the pain after being nailed to the wall? Why don’t you sleep over at my place for the night, don’t go home, it’s still raining heavily outside and it might still be dangerous, I’ll take you to the pharmacist’s side tomorrow.”

“Okay.” Jace pulled his shirt off and headed for the bed, laying down on his side slowly, every movement hurting like hell.

After lying down completely, he already felt his brain buzzing.

Looking at the wall in front of him, thinking about everything that had happened tonight, Talon Bloodmage’s whispers still haunted his mind and didn’t dissipate.

Grid picked up the hammer and said, “You go to sleep, I’ll go outside and check the streets first.”

The door slammed shut, and Jace was reminded again of that question that he hadn’t had time to think about before because he was too nervous.

Why did Talon Bloodmoon know his name?

    Who told him that?

I can’t believe he fell asleep thinking about it, he was so tired.
