    Chapter Index

Probably because he had slept so much the last couple days, Jace didn’t sleep very well this night, going to bed at almost 1:00 in the middle of the night and waking up again at 4:00 or so.

Or maybe it’s because today is the day to go home and see mom and dad.

Knowing he would never sleep again, he simply got up, and with Dushan still huffing and puffing, he wrote a note message and headed out the door with his bags.

Jace wasn’t currently familiar with Dalaran’s harbor, and it would be good to get there first ahead of time.

Dalaran’s harbor is certainly not as busy as the previous Stormwind City’s, not to mention Stormwind City is so big, compared with the harbor of the South Sea town are far away, let a person feel like a park cruise ship small dock like the same way, only an embankment plus a few small trestle bridge.

And in the mornings when it’s still light, it feels like there are more boats than people.

Of course, this so-called harbor is also just a lakeshore dock, and the boats basically lead to King City.

The other is the one that leads to Sunsail Harbor in Quel’thalas, but with a few golden elven ships anchored far, far away, it’s not hard to guess that only elves are allowed on board.

Beside the trestle stood two Quel’thalas soldiers with long shields and silver swords, clad in white cloaks, who kept gazing at the pedestrians on this side.

From here to the port of Lordaeron’s royal city only charge two or three silver coins, and there are quite a lot of choices, there are fast and slow, Jace just randomly took a recently departed, try to fast boat after all, the waterway also have to go the whole daytime, if you do not go now, the slow boat will have to spend the night in the village of Fenris in the middle of the lake, and then set off the next day, it will be too much waste of time.

Anyway, Lake Loddonmuir is a pretty big and exaggerated lake now.

And then I remembered that earthly cannon last night, and I couldn’t help but think about it.

Boat traveling on Lake Rodanmere, the calm surface of the lake’s let a person’s mood are much more relaxed, fellow passengers are also reading a book, or playing cards, let a person can not help but want to follow the sleep.

But how could Jace sleep when he was about to arrive home.

He looked at the hazy pine forests along the shore, the shadowed red roofs, the snow-capped mountains in the distance casting their reflections onto the lake, all the scenery he knew best as a child, and it had never changed.

Even the Rodanmere Mad Fish that passes by the boat from time to time, waiting to see if anyone casts food or casts themselves off, is exactly the same.

On top of that archipelago in the center of the lake, a huge castle stood across the shore from Dalaran’s Violet Castle, the largest military fortress in the kingdom of Lordaeron, Fenris Castle.

As the ship passed the castle’s walls, the flag of the Four Swords of Lordaeron above it fluttered with the lake breeze.

At this point in time, the emblem on this flag was still black or blue, not red, and it represented a prosperous, strong, and feared kingdom, not a group of raving lunatics attempting to restore their homeland. Beneath the flag, soldiers in nose-guard helmets looked out at a passing ship, occasionally raising their hands in greeting, while the ship’s helmsmen took off their hats in response.

The massive walls were once a nightmare for many children growing up in Tirisfal, and standing on the high walls of the King’s Castle looking this way, the walls of the castle loomed over half of Lake Lodenmere like a black, magical shadow, especially in the fall and winter.

At night your parents would say that if you didn’t behave, a werewolf would run out of that castle and nestle into the house at night to eat you all.

At that point Jace was really tired of hearing about it, and would say that those wolves would have to swim a couple dozen miles first, and would probably have no energy left to go ashore, and then he’d get a good whacking.

Just thinking back to that time makes me smile.

Once you sailed past Fenrisburg, it wouldn’t be long before you could see the walls of the King’s City stretching for miles.

This centuries-old wall was built on top of a high cliff near the water, alone with only the sky as a backdrop, and once you get close to it, you feel as if it’s going to overwhelm at any moment, and you can’t help but suck in a breath of cold air no matter what time you see it.

It was after 8:00 p.m. when the ship arrived at the port of the King’s City, he hadn’t expected to dock so late, after all, he had felt like he had already seen the shadow of the city walls in the afternoon.

Jace sat on one of the steps on the embankment and looked out at the gates of Lordaeron in the distance, wondering if he should sleep in the harbor for the night and go home in the morning.

As he was thinking about it, he saw a group of Lordaeron soldiers preparing to change their guards talking about the day’s events not far away, and next to them, under a burning torch, a middle-aged guard with a head of sweaty brunette hair was sitting there, peeling a golden-skinned apple in the light of the fire.

Jace stood up and walked over to him and said, “Hey mister, I just got here, how do I get to the old artisan area heh.”

“Ask someone else, I don’t know.” The guard replied without looking back.

“You don’t even know where your own house is?” Jess asked.

The guard peeled off a slice of apple flesh, glanced up and held his fire as he asked, “Who are you?”

Jess didn’t say anything, just looked at him.

The two froze for a few seconds before the guard said with a glare, “Why are you back all of a sudden?”

He stood up and punched Jace in the shoulder and said, “Jace you brat, I hardly recognize you!”

The man lowered his head and shoved the remaining half of the apple into the hands of Jace, who was grinning from ageing teeth in pain, and said, “Come on, eat this apple, have you eaten yet?”

“It hasn t …… been a day on the boat. Why are you so vigorous, trying to beat your own son to death?”

“Aren’t you all right here? Did you come from Dalaran?”

    “Yeah …… yeah.”

The man grabbed Jace’s hand and asked, “This ring is a mage ring, you’re a mage now? No wonder you’re so unforgiving, but didn’t you go to Storm City?”

    “Yeah, that’s Stormwind’s mage ring.”

“You’re inexplicable, you’re not there to make money, why are you a mage again?”

“I’m not making any money ……”

“You idiot, if you can’t make money, go home and starve yourself out there?”

“It’s okay, Dad, the least I can do is make a little bit and not starve.”

“I can see that your clothes look pretty valuable too, a spider silk robe?”

    “You see?”

“It’s not like I don’t have eyes, no more nonsense, hurry up and go home with me to your mom, she’s going to be so happy.”

Jace’s father picked his helmet up from where he was sitting and spoke to the group of guards next to him, “My son is back and I’m going back early! Tell that boy Fathis for me.”

    “Captain Vic’s son is back?”

“Why is this so much higher than it was.”

“The last time you saw him had to be five or six years ago, right?”

“It’s also true that the …… war is over.”

Jace stood back and watched as his father tugged at a group of new and old guards, changed his clothes, and returned with a piece of bacon jerky to shove into his hand on the way.

“You eat first, and I’m sure Henny will fix you something delicious when we get back.”

    “Is it sausage?”

    “Sausage too!”
