Chapter 158 – Storming Orc Face
by Jessie@AFNCCLeaving the gnome’s paper and ink store, Jace fled to the street, this time to whore a handful of such a good-looking feather quill, go back to give Amy, she must not hug his own hard to gnaw a couple of mouths?
But open the box to see, really a little reluctant to give this as a gift, the legendary elf dragon’s feather …… just why only sell 40 silver coins a piece?
If it really was a mysterious elf dragon, Jace felt how the price should be sold in gold coins to be about the same.
The price tag of forty to fifty silver coins certainly isn’t cheap, it’s just that elven dragons live in the pristine, dense forests of Kalimdor and are magically abundant, so how much would it cost in transportation costs just to get the stuff over there?
Guys willing to hunt these kind and docile magical creatures, Jace simply couldn’t think of any other than goblins.
Maybe someone over here is going to use the body of an elfin dragon for something else, and the tentacles on the head are just incidentally made into feather quills, which is why they’re relatively so cheap.
Thinking about it, Jace had already walked to a corner plaza, where the festive atmosphere was even more enthusiastic than in front of Dushan’s house, and there was a white-bearded dwarf lord in red robes standing on a platform next to a fountain holding his back and turning cartwheels.
This can’t be Grandpa Winter, it’s a little too energetic.
The square gathered a lot of people, a variety of snack carts come with a variety of themes. Across the fountain messy all kinds of metal friction movement mixed with some strange music, walked over to see, but it is the gnomes with their own manufacturing of amusement equipment to the travelers passing by to play.
Jace walked over to take a general look at a flailing automatic dressing and undressing machine close by, he lingered for a while, seeing no female tourists come and go to try it on he left.
Next to the multi-functional automatic barber equipment, self-propelled locomotives and so on, look quite powerful, many bold children and adults are willing to try, fortunately for the time being did not see blood.
There’s also one ride that no one asked for, the earthly cannon aimed at Lake Loddon Mill.
It said that two silver a time would get a person to the Dawn Islands in the center of the lake, with only a gnome salesman standing around yelling that being equipped with a parachute would guarantee a safe landing.
There were some who were just glancing this way from a distance to see what was going on, but no one dared to come over and try it for themselves at all.
Not to mention the fact that the light guarantees a safe landing, it doesn’t state that the launch is safe, and most importantly who the hell is going to travel to the Lake Islands in the middle of the night, which are half overrun by fishermen!
Is there another earthly cannon on Fenris to do a return item and then two gold coins a ride, or wait for the fishermen to pack it in.
Jace thought of the crooked couple at the Twin Towers of Philas, one teleporting people to the top of the mountain and the other selling overpriced parachutes.
He was definitely not going to lose out this time anyway. Jace wanted to find a ride that was like a force gauge of sorts, where you were given a sandbag or something to punch and then given a score.
Ever since he’d pushed Grid away in the morning and felt as if his power wasn’t quite the same, he’d been wanting a chance to try and see if his had gotten any stronger from pumping the black dragon’s blood.
After passing a few more strange items that he couldn’t even understand without reading the description, he finally spotted a ride in a corner that was pretty much exactly what he thought it was.
The headline, in a series of large letters, reads “Punching Orc Faces.”
That so-called orc looks like a green cloth bag that serves as an orc’s head strapped to a humanoid model, with some grass stuck in for orc hair, and from a distance it really looks like that.
The sign next to it said in crooked generic language ten coppers for a punch and over five hundred cents for a candy.
Isn’t that just 10 coins to sell a candy, which is going to be as expensive as a piece of pie.
But what level is that 500 points?
Jace sat on the stone pedestal of a nearby flower bed and watched this side of the room to see if anyone went up to fight.
Not long afterward a kinda sturdy man walked over, handed over a handful of coins, and punched the man in the head.
The guy looked like he’d practiced his moves, and the orc’s head bobbed a bit as a scoreboard next to him whirred around, finally stopping at over seven hundred.
Gnomes happily handed him a small green square of sugar, the man happily sat to the side to eat sugar, everyone is very satisfied. At this time another boy younger than him about two or three years old walked up, the assistant ran over and punched more than four hundred, he was not convinced and wanted to come back, a punch again more than four hundred, spent 20 coins, unhappy cursing.
Though he’d never played this kind of goblin game over here in the past, he felt sure he’d never been able to match the strength of the burly man before, who was tall and strong, with scars on his ribs like a veteran.
If the score is higher than his for a punch in the past this time, it must have made a difference.
Yet jerking up on his knees, a fiery pain shot through the burn on his right arm; he’d been having so much fun that he’d forgotten about his injury.
Forget it. Is it worth wasting money and your body to test something nebulous?
At this point, the boy walked up again, handed the goblin 10 copper coins, shook off his armband, practiced a few punches into the air, and kicked his feet back and forth to warm up.
Jace looked sideways, curious to see how much he could hit again this time.
The goblins clapped and shouted cheers to him, and the boy regained his vigor from his earlier frustration.
“Heh!”
He roared and swung his fist hard at the orc’s head, only this time the scoreboard didn’t move at all Is this breaking the machine?
A mechanical arm lifted up behind the scoreboard, and the sandbagged orc’s body spun without warning, the arm suddenly flung out and slammed hard into the chest of the young boy who was looking back at his scores!
The boy was knocked to the ground with a uh-oh, covered his chest and coughed a few times, and began to wail.
“My God!” The nearest goblin dropped the coin box he was holding and rushed over, jumping onto the orc’s back to perform some kind of maneuver, only to be lifted and thrown straight up by the robotic arm and sent flying into the street on the other side.
“Unidentified attack, Trade Droid Type 800-A activating self-defense mechanism to protect Hot Sand Group property!”
With a mechanical voice apparently cobbled together from goblin recordings, the fake orc stood up and took two steps, the rag-wrapped base turning out to be a pair of iron feet!
It looked like it had been dismantled, with a lot of the casing missing and the parts inside clearly visible, and a cloud of smoke coming out of it with every movement.
“Stop working! Stop the work! End the process! Cancel the command!” A nearby goblin stomped his foot and kept yelling, yet this fake orc was not at all moved, and took a step straight towards the little boy who was knocked to the ground.
Each of the arms broke free of an unknown fixture with a few chipping noises, and the robot was completely free of its restraints, running straight at the boy at a fast pace.
“Stop him!” A gnome yelled toward the burly man who had scored seven hundred points, “Blake, stop him!”
“You didn’t pay me to fight robots!” The one called Blake turned toward a couple of other goblins and said, “Here’s the shit you made, figure it out yourself!”
Many people in the square looked this way, and even the dancing Grandpa Winter stopped.
The boy backed away helplessly, trying to get up and escape, but once again slipped on the bricks, this time not knowing if it was because he was scared or because the fall hurt, and he howled with a sob.
A springy arm of the robot flung itself hard towards the boy, only to be suddenly knocked off target by a flying scoreboard, and its fist smashed into the floor tiles.
“800-A detects more threatening target.”
The robot turned its head, the fake orc head covering that no longer quite fit had gone askew, revealing the cold robotic face and blinking red lights underneath.
Jace was standing in front of him, telling the goblin next to him, “Give me a guy who can fight.”
The goblin handed him something and Jace took it and saw that it was a large wrench ……
“This ……”
The goblins have escaped.
A cloud of black smoke suddenly erupted from the robot’s back, and another spring-loaded arm suddenly flung itself at it, so fast that it was almost impossible to see, but Jace accurately swung a wrench to smash it crookedly, took a few steps forward to pivot another wrench to dislodge the other flung arm, and hammered it hard toward the robot’s chest, which had had its protective shell removed!
Only a loud clang was heard, and the robot wobbled and took two steps back.
“800-A Core Impaired …… Startup Standby ……”
Jace slammed decisively towards the robot’s shoulder, stopping its voice with a single blow, the whole thing clanking and scattering parts.
After shaking for a while the lower piece of the rocking drive spun and moved out on its own, but only for a few meters before it got down and smoked completely.
Jace looked at his hands, he could even feel the veins churning with his heartbeat, this was by no means the reaction speed or strength he would have had, either way it was a notch better than it had been in the past.
The robot was stiff and not very accurate, but it was fast enough to be really fast and powerful enough that it wasn’t easy to fight it hard.
These goblins must have taken scrapped trade bots with combat capabilities and slightly altered them to make money by using them as targets.
This time Jace was certain that drawing the blood of that black dragon had really brought about some changes.
But is it the Black Dragon’s Vitality that merges with his own, or the Black Dragon’s Shadow that merges with his Shadow Power, or are both merging like with like?
There was a murmur from the side of the room as the goblins accused each other of running over to remove the parts of the completely broken robot.
Jace fought through the pain in his arm and picked up the boy, who had panicked and didn’t know what to do, before picking up his belongings and fleeing the scene.
It was assumed that soon the guards of Dalaran would be coming, and who knew how much trouble the Shadow energy emanating from his body would invite.
On the way back to Duchamp’s house, he realized that it was entirely possible to explain the Shadow energy in his body with the fact that the Black Dragon had attacked him!
Maybe when we go to Cintron in a while, we can also tell those Brute Hammer Dwarves that he’s full of dark energy because of the injuries he sustained from fighting the Black Dragon.
This …… excuse couldn’t be more perfect.
But that excuse would probably only work for a few months, after all, people would slowly grow suspicious when they saw that you were still full of Shadow energy for so long, with no visible after-effects or anything like that.
But then again, it would be enough to deal with the possible surprises of a trip to Eagle’s Nest Mountain.
