Chapter 153: Almost Forgetting the Point of the Conversation
by Jessie@AFNCCThe smugness overflowed as Kefal spoke of his student being one of the Windwalker family.
So that was Aurelia and Sylvanas’s sister, Winressa Windwalker, just now?
Jace had to admit that she did have a bit of the feel of a child raised in a noble house, but if she was Winressa …… she still felt that something was missing.
But what exactly is missing? Heroic aura?
Or is it a gold dragon head statue frame with a skull and crossbones question mark level logo?
He couldn’t tell.
However, according to Kefal’s words, right now, Walesa was just a newcomer who was eager to prove her abilities, and was only a member of the initial rank even within the Farseer Force.
Even though everyone knew she carried the aura of the Windrunner family, and everyone knew she might be able to make something of herself in the future, right now she was nothing more than a little girl under everyone’s care.
Jace had always thought about getting to know a female elf or something before, but when he did run into one, the indifferent look and tone of the other person didn’t make him feel very comfortable in any way.
I don’t know if it’s just true for humans or if it’s true for everyone.
Thinking of the prodigal female elves Grid mentioned, he raised an involuntary eyebrow, feeling that he had indeed been a bit of a leaf.
At this time, he was more curious about the Kefal Mingwing in front of him, he seemed to be a ruthless character, why did the game not appear this NPC?
One of the future Three Leaders of Silvermoon City, future Ranger General Hadulen Mingwing, is his cousin, and he is again tasked with training Winressa Windrunner at this point in time, and in a decade or so will likely grow to be a major player in Silvermoon City, or at least in the Farseer.
Why is he completely missing from the game?
Yeah, a dozen years later.
A dozen years later the Celestial Legion invaded Quel’thalas, destroying everything in its path, and the entirety of Quel’dorei came close to extinction, and the only elves that survived were the ones not in Quel’thalas, and a small fraction of those who had the best luck.
Even the Ranger General at the time, Silvanus Windrunner, the second of the Three Sisters, had been brutally decapitated and died in front of the gates of Silvermoon City, not to mention her henchmen, the elites like Kefal.
Then there are those others he recognizes that haven’t been in the game, Carlo Duchamp, and even Gerard ……
“There’s still a bit of Shadowflame’s evil in you, Jace Sesso.” Kefal snapped, “I don’t dislike it or anything, I know you were attacked by a black dragon, I’m just concerned if you need further treatment.”
“Yeah?” Jace sniffed at himself. At that moment, Grid moved from table to table and sat down, saying, “The wine here is good, but there’s so little meat or anything, and how much of a sweet tooth do the mages here have? Half of a menu is snacks.”
“Not on him.” Kefal looked at the Dwarf, “So I’m surprised, I was told that it was the Barbarian Hammer Dwarf that killed that Black Dragon, and it turns out that this human has marks all over his body from being hurt by the Black Dragon, and you’re acting like it’s nothing.”
“The only reason I’m still sitting here being humiliated by you guys in every way possible is because of this human kid.” Grid sat down on his butt and said in a foul mood, “If it wasn’t for the bottle of Shadow Protection Potion he forced on me, I’d be in the clear right now and wouldn’t have to listen to your crap.”
The elf smiled a bit and said, “So dwarf, what is your name? My name is Kefal Brightwing, and the two of us have just introduced ourselves to each other.”
“Brightwing?” Grid said, “My name is Grid, Grid Thunderfist, how’s that for not worse than yours?”
“Thunderfist.” Kefal said as he held out his hand, “One of my fellow clansmen was once injured in a battle against an evil troll and had his life saved by a griffin knight of Thunderfist, which is definitely not a bad clan.”
“Ha, an elf fighter who dares to take on an evil troll definitely doesn’t count as a coward either.” Grid extended his hand as well.
Two famous queens from their respective worlds shook hands and showed off their family histories in passing, leaving only the son of a commoner’s family to sit on the side and watch the two men hard at work. Dalaran had many northern specialties such as Imperial Salmon, Mad Fish, and Liao Venison, which were rare and expensive in the Stormwind Kingdom.
In particular, there are a lot of Quel’thalas cooking style, food and snacks made from local ingredients, such as a kind of Lake Lodenmir mussel soup stewed with a spice unique to the Forest of Eternal Songs, and even some special food cooked with arcane magic meticulously maneuvering the element of fire, which is in short, full of the characteristics of the magical city.
It was obviously because the elf was buying, so Grid ordered a whole bunch of fancy things, which to Jace’s eyes was definitely going to be too much to eat.
But seeing as the dwarves had already launched themselves at speed, he couldn’t have the light and not take advantage of it, leaving the elf alone, slowly chewing on a few of the cheapest looking fruit crumbled cookies as he watched them wolf it down.
“Jace Sesso.” Kefal said as he looked at Jace, who was holding a bone-in piece of venison, with a half-dozen sweetbreads in his hand, “Do you know what became of those soldiers in the city of Otterlake who were scorched by the Black Dragon?”
Jace put down the venison in his hand and said, “What happened to them? I heard a lot of them became disabled.”
“The disabilities are all considered good.” Kefal said, “Some of the humans were mentally damaged by the power of the Shadow, especially the archers who defended the walls and met the Black Dragon’s frontal assault. Many of those who didn’t have time to escape went mad, and to this day no good can come of it, and worst of all were the soldiers who didn’t look serious on the surface, and the neglect of them instead dragged their injuries to an irreversible point. I would suggest that you have further examinations before leaving Dalaran, and do not take it lightly.”
“Why are you so concerned about him all of a sudden?” Grid asked, squinting, “What did you guys talk about while I was gone?”
Kefal replied, “I don’t want a warrior who has defeated the Black Dragon to be left with a lifetime of regret, though their human lifetime is only a few decades, it is just as valuable.”
“Sounds pretty scary.” Jace said, “I’ll go get someone to double-check if something’s wrong.”
Kefal nodded, and Jace glanced at Grid, suddenly remembering one of the major reasons he had come to Dalaran – to find a way to cure Grid’s disability!
Wasn’t this an elf right in front of him, and a farseer ranger with plenty of experience fighting trolls!
“I would like to consult you on a matter, Kefal Brightwing.” Jace put down the fork in his hand and asked, “Have any of you elves ever been poisoned by a trollbat bat that wasn’t cured in time and left aftereffects?”
