Chapter 150 – Sky Blue Encounter
by Jessie@AFNCCEven in the outskirts of Dalaran, the city was built like one of those European aristocrats’ courtyards in meticulous detail, and one could feel that the construction of Stormwind City’s mage district referenced this place.
It’s just that the Mage Quarter, in order to deliberately avoid the colors and architectural features of this unique combination of elven and human aesthetics, the buildings are mostly a direct continuation of the conservative styles of the Stormwind Kingdom.
Mixed with the idea of mimicking Dalaran’s planning, it backfired and got a bit of nowhere.
And here the racial fusion brings a different exotic wind all in one, as if it has been produced by the output of another unique style, from Quetzalcoatl to Tirisfal can not be seen in such a place.
Walking down the street Jace couldn’t help but keep his head up and look around as if he were a country boy who had just entered the city, and Gerrit scurried faster than he did on his crutches.
The two stepped into a tavern called the Sky Blue Encounter, with a large lobby, decorated much like the room Jace stayed in, with more landscapes.
There are even paintings of distant views of the Irving Forest, though at their angle, the paintings are mysteriously located high above the forest, making it difficult to imagine exactly where the artist sat to paint.
But despite the large number of customers, the taverns of Dalaran were quieter than those in the Stormwind Kingdom or elsewhere in Lordaeron, and an occasional loud laugh was particularly ear-splitting.
So a Brute Hammer Dwarf running in was like a miniature bull charging into a china store.
Grid led Jace to the bar, gestured skillfully at the menu, and turned back to him, “When are you planning on going to King City to see your mom and dad, Jace?”
“Let’s wait a day today, I still want to observe the condition of my body.” Jace replied, “My teacher told me that the date of the exchange is set for the 11th, so if you’re sure it’s okay to leave, it’s best to leave first thing in the morning and come back before the exchange. Just don’t go with me and get well in Dalaran.”
Speaking of which, Jace suddenly thought about the Eye of Dalaran and a haze brushed over his heart.
“But I say, can you still travel now?”
“What do you think?” Grid slanted him a look and said, “I’ll stop following you around and rest for at least a few days to let the injury stabilize before I do. Saying that you can recover in two weeks is also something that needs to be taken care of, and I don’t want to go to Eagle’s Nest Mountain in this state.”
“I’ll go by myself then.” Jace said, “You be careful in Dalaran too, don’t wander over to Violet Castle with nothing to do, and watch out for the mages over there to kick you out when they see you Brute Hammer Dwarves who don’t like magic.”
It’s best to stay as far away from the location of Dalaran’s treasure trove as possible.
“Don’t worry, I won’t have nothing to do.” Grid rubbed his beard and said, “Come to think of it, I’ve been over here for the past two days since I got here, and I’ve never been over to the north side of the lake to check out those nice little buildings, like the school, the big fountain, or whatever.”
“So don’t you go yet.” Jace immediately said, “We’ll both hang out over there when I get back from there, it’s really no fun if you go first.”
Grid said, “Makes sense, with a mage like you leading the way, a Brute Hammer Dwarf wouldn’t be too strange, would it? Ha!”
“I heard from Mr. Dushan that you arrived in Dalaran yesterday?” Jace asked.
Grid replied, “Actually, it was the middle of the night before last, and I was following a troop of Lordaeron’s cavalry across the path through the valley of Otterland. When I said I wanted to come to Dalaran to see you quickly, they just bundled me on horseback and brought me here. Even though it was to take care of my injuries, it sounds more than a little strange, doesn’t it? But it’s also true that my physical condition can’t sit on those strong, ox-like Highland warhorses …… Anyway, they saved me a lot of money and work, and they didn’t hurt my leg.”
“You didn’t have those griffins drop you off here?” Jace asked.
He had asked casually, but as the words left his mouth, he realized that it didn’t seem appropriate to bring up the topic at this time.
Grid’s face, which had been so relaxed a moment ago, darkened a bit.
Jace knew what the dwarf had remembered, as did he himself.
Grider said, “Griffin, or not.”
“By the way, I see you’ve been alive and kicking just now until now. Are you sure you don’t have any other uncomfortable sensations in your body? After all, you were unconscious yesterday, and your mouth kept chanting something ……”
“Chanting what?” Jess asked.
“I can’t understand it.” Grid shook his head and said, “Even Master Dushan can’t understand it, he doesn’t have much of a clue with all the languages he’s learned. Maybe it’s just the gibberish caused by being attacked by a black dragon, Shadow.”
Jace thought to himself that it couldn’t be that he was speaking Chinese in his sleep talk, could it? But speaking Chinese was better than speaking some demonic language or something.
At that moment, the bartender brought in two glasses, and it was still rare for Jace to drink out of a glass, and there was something odd about how the liquid in the glasses was a light pink color, like a dye or something.
“What the hell is this?”
Turning his eyes over, Griddles was carrying an even stranger black drink that kept bubbling, a bubbling that wasn’t carbonated bubbles kind of feeling, but gurgled like lava, but surprisingly was still ice cold!
“And what the hell is that you have there ……”
“Whatever the hell!” Grid grinned, “It’s good anyway, and I can’t remember the Elvish name, so let’s find a seat!”
He led the way, walking and stopping so suddenly that Jace almost ran straight into his back with his glass.
Grid took a step back with his head sideways and looked down at a man sitting at the table next to him.
It was an elven man with loose blonde hair that rode up to his arms half covering his face, pointed ears sticking out from between his hair and long eyebrows giving away his race.
Dressed in a light blue silk tunic jacket of a common street elf style, he leaned back in his chair and was looking at a dark red book of elvish language in his hands with a cover decorated with a green vine pattern, with only a cup of fresh tea on the table in front of him.
Gerard sat down across from him and slammed his glass down on the table with a clunk.
Jace stood aside, his heart shivered with him, the glass looked pretty strong for a thin layer of glass, I wonder how much it would cost to pay for it.
“What a fucking coincidence, huh?”
The elf closed the book with a single swish of his hand at the sound of the voice, and looked languidly sideways at Grid.
Upon getting a good look at his face, Jace thought why is this guy so familiar ……
But why would he be familiar with an elf’s face when he didn’t know a single elf?
No, technically he still “knows” an elf.
The elf let out a laugh and asked, “You two are still alive?”
As soon as he heard this voice Jace was immediately sure that this turned out to be the guy from the Twilight Forest!
