Chapter 146 The Roundup!
by Jessie@AFNCCJace somewhat regretted the moment he had just rested halfway across the street; if he had been brave enough to follow over, he wouldn’t have lost Griddle.
But the guy had basically lost his mind completely, running as fast as a rabbit along the way, pulling down a huge chunk of ground with the slightest delay.
Jace got down on his back and poked his head out, looking out onto the flat ground, trying to search for him, and of course …… trying to see if there were any sprawling dwarves or anything.
Not only are there no standing dwarves or lying dwarves in the clearing near by, there are not even human corpses, there are only two or three charred corpses on the far side of the river, probably all the unlucky soldiers who tried to jump into the river to extinguish the fire after their bodies caught on fire, and as a result, they were intercepted by the black dragon.
Now there are no soldiers to run that way, no cover is tantamount to sending death, once inadvertently ignited to hide to let their companions help to extinguish, not far away there are a few soldiers in the wall behind the non-stop stomping on a body is still smoldering black smoke of the comrades.
Already drenched in sweat, Jace gripped the baguette in his hand tightly, ready to wait for the black dragon to circle back around again and wait for an opportunity to try a weakness curse on it.
He didn’t even expect to be able to scare an actual dragon with his fear spells anymore, and only when confronted with the black dragon did he realize that it was a joke to mess with him with his fear spells.
Thinking about this, he quickly flipped through his book of memorized spells and memorized the spell for the Weakness Curse again, this time it was much more serious than confronting that black panther, and he absolutely couldn’t make the slightest mistake. More importantly, he realized that he could no longer do what he did when facing the black panther in a calm manner.
Around the black dragon Jace seemed to be able to feel that the shadow energy radiating from it was constantly pressing on his waking consciousness, forcing him to become more and more tense, more and more panicked-like.
A mage who hadn’t used Shadow would never have been able to discern that it was the black dragon’s magic that was bringing him down, but rather felt that he was afraid.
But now, Jace could definitively feel his emotions being tugged at in bursts by the shadow energy released around the black dragon, and the soldiers must have been similar.
This may be the being that Sëanor warned of that deliberately unleashed his darkness, the shadowy creature hovering in the distance ……
While Jace was memorizing the spell, he suddenly heard a rustling movement on the steps of the sentry tower not far behind the wall.
He listened carefully for a while, it was a series of languages he didn’t understand at all, but it was unintelligible, the voice he recognized!
“Wait!” Jace peeled himself up the wall and looked that way, just in time to see a short, short man with his back turned scurrying up the steps of the sentry tower.
He called Grid’s name again, and there was no longer any response.
There was a sparse crunching of gravel from the sentry tower, and the black dragon seemed to move a bit this way when he heard his movement, and Jace immediately lowered his head to hide.
Motherfucker …… Griddle don t send death ah, wait for me for a while!
“Lead archer! Go around the back and force him back! Mages wait here for him to come over, arcane energy is so ineffective, switch to ice magic, attack with ice magic! All arcane apprentices hurry up and help transport the wounded, damn it!”
The commander’s voice came from somewhere rather loud, yet a booming low voice surprised everyone in the room.
“Humans …… think …… I don’t understand?”
The black dragon let out a loud clicking and strange laughter as he climbed to the other side of the sentry tower once again, separating himself from the archers who were circling around to the other side and preparing to cooperate with the mages, only to hear the knight captain over there shouting, “He’s going to the opposite side! Duck out of the way! All duck!”
There was another roar from the black dragon, a wave of air that bent the air, and Jace didn’t see the fire, but heard a violent explosion coming from the other side, followed by a scream.
Jace left the wall to the side of the black dragon and ducked to the side, looking up he could see the black dragon’s tail wagging back and forth above his head now.
He was prepared to cast the Weakness Curse, and also prepared for the possibility that it would be ineffective, and then he would be sprayed back by the black dragon.
The hand has touched the bottle of Shadow Protection Potion and the heart has followed it to the hand ……
“For the sake of the Kha’teach Modan!”
The chaotic murmur of the entire room was braked by the roar, the only word of Dwarf Jace could understand! He left the wall and raised his head, watching as the dwarf leapt from the top of the tower with his warhammer in hand!
In a flash of lightning, Grid smothered a precarious thunderbolt directly on top of the black dragon’s head!
A white aura erupted to kill, and after a loud rumble, Grid actually didn’t fall down, and the hammer head of that warhammer actually stuck into the black dragon’s concave skull!
The black dragon roared furiously in pain his whole body shook and shook his head like crazy, while Grider had a death grip on the handle of the hammer and refused to take it off no matter what, flinging it around in mid-air like a broken sack.
Hang in there ……
Jace left the wall and raised his staff towards the black dragon calling out – Anunigi, Dulzara, Kana!
Even though his voice was completely muffled by the black dragon’s voice, it was enough as long as it was audible to the haunting Shadow Powers.
Although it was not known if the curse of weakness had taken effect, one of the black dragon’s claws suddenly loosened in the shaking and scraped downward a great deal, ultimately causing a chain reaction to cause a large portion of the walls of the sentry tower to collapse, and the black dragon could no longer hold on to it, falling to the ground along with a large swath of shattered bricks and tiles.
Jace leapt to the side to avoid the flying rocks and dust that were crashing around, and the entire black dragon collapsed under the stone wall and rolled around for a while, and was trying to stand up when its head was smashed with a visible crack, and the purplish-red evil blood that came out of it infested the entire neck.
“The Black Dragon is down! Everyone follow me! Kill him and save the Dwarf brothers! We’ll hang his head over the town, defenders of Hillsbrad!”
The commander called out, and soldiers with short swords and spears rushed out from everywhere, yet where had Grid gone, buried under a rock?
The black dragon squealed and whipped his tail at the soldiers rushing forward with shields raised, and Jace scurried around his torso to the ruins, just in time to see Grider, unsure if he’d been hit by a rock or not, passed out in a patch of gravel.
Jace dragged the 200 pounds was trying to get him out of this mess first when Grid suddenly coughed out a mouthful of dust and the black dragon jerked his head back as if some switch had been triggered.
“Short maggots, and they’re still alive!” The black dragon insulted in a twisted generic language, while his chest had bulged and crimson fire was on the verge of welling up in his throat!
Fuck that!
Jace felt the hairs on his body stand on end, and Foggy Time yanked Gridd up whole like a divine force possessing him and threw him right under the remnants of the sentry tower that still stood.
Then he jumped over as well …… The fireball proceeded to explode behind him, and the wave of air kicked his entire body inside the sentry tower, right into a patch of broken tools, between armor and clothing, and was well sort of cushioned a bit from falling with a broken bone.
He patted the fire on his pants leg and looked at the potions on his lawn; one mana potion had shattered and gone who knows where, leaving only a bit of glass embedded in his clothes, the other seemed to be okay, and the Shadow Protection potion was still there.
Grid was completely shielded from the flames by the wall, but the soldiers outside the sentry tower didn’t seem to be doing well in the ensuing battle, although they quickly surrounded the black dragon while it was turning back.
The black dragon roared madly, this guy even if he was seriously injured was still not something that the dozens of soldiers and militia that had been temporarily assembled could easily deal with, it was necessary to wait for more reinforcements to be able to do so!
Didn’t they say that Southsea Town is Dalaran’s rallying point in the southern part of the Outlander Mountains, why are there so few mages? Where did those mages go last night? They all went out to work during the day, didn’t they?
Damn …… Jace is trapped in this sentry tower, once the black dragon pushes those soldiers back and finds time to turn back and give himself a bite, won t he be reimbursed together with Grid and this sentry tower!
Jace slapped Grid’s face and said, “Grid! Come on wake up, come on wake up!”
He found his hands trembling uncontrollably, and both arms were aching vaguely as if the blow he had just thrown Grendel in had drained his strength.
Grid opened his eyes slightly, only to cough again, this time spitting out some blood which was tinged with purple shadow energy.
What’s going on here?
He was corrupted by the Shadow?
If not healed urgently, Shadow Corrosion would likely cause permanent damage! Jace pulled the cork of the Shadow Protection Potion, he knew that this protection potion could only stop the ongoing damage afterward, it could not heal the existing damage, so he had to use it as soon as possible, he could not hesitate at all.
He must not let Grid die.
Jace gave him a slap to wake him up a little more, then rattled his lips and poured the potion in, luckily the guy still had a conditioned reflex like drinking, and when he came across something a little irritating even in his unconscious state he opened his mouth and didn’t leak any of the potion at all.
But what now? Is there any defense if that black dragon attacks inside again?
It was gone, but Jace knew the vial wasn’t going to help him take a fireball hard, and used it.
You can’t risk casting Mage Armor in this situation, can you?
Should have practiced on the boat if I knew I was going to have to deal with this kind of scene ……
The point now is that Grid is in a bad way, Shadow damage can be delayed a bit by potions, but what about the other internal injuries?
Since he was spitting out blood, he must have been injured in the battle just now, hit by a rock or hit by a black dragon or something that could have caused a fatal injury that was not visible on the outside.
Jace was at his wits end, he didn’t hold any healing spells and had to watch him deteriorate like this?
“No, there is another way.” Jace’s panicked hands and feet gradually calmed down, taking the mana potion down and pouring it into his mouth to replenish the tiredness he felt from casting the Weakness Curse a while ago and from running all the way over here.
That method is – to kill this black dragon quickly so that Grid can be saved as soon as possible.
He flipped through his spell book, saw the entry for Life Absorption, and read it silently.
With Arcane Wisdom Plus, it doesn’t need to be read too many times.
Gripping his staff tightly, he walked to the doorway of the half-collapsed sentry tower and looked towards the black dragon that had its back turned and kept spewing flames at the soldiers in front of it.
At his feet, five or six soldiers were already down, some crawling away in agony, some already dead or passed out.
I’ll whip you to death.
He raised his staff high and pointed his other hand toward the black dragon, shouting:
Eramont, Siliondor!
The shadow magic light of the staff pierced through the rags tightly wrapped around it, and the black dragon snapped back to stare at the warlock who had sneaked up on it, its wings, and surprisingly, its front claws all began to tremble violently.
“How dare you ……!”
He roared wildly as he drummed up another ball of fiery flames, yet instead of dodging and avoiding them, Jace repeated the spell again at the top of his lungs!
“Uh ……”
Now the black dragon coughed violently and his bulging chest went out, a cloud of black smoke shot out from between his lips and teeth flooding his skull.
At that moment, the wound on the top of his head burst open again without warning, spraying out a cloud of blood, which surprisingly did not scatter into the sky, but all of it flew towards Jace’s side, drenching his body and feet.
Jace didn’t dodge either and continued to concentrate, he knew the spell wasn’t over it was still going on and he had to focus on continuing to channel it until he got this black dragon pumped up!
He couldn’t doubt his own power, because doubting his ability the last time he cast a spell resulted in the mage armor being halfway down, and this time, even if he couldn’t kill this guy, he had to believe that he could.
The ringing in his ears replaced the roar of the black dragon, and he felt his brain and chest rising, and a mouthful of blood vomited up, but he didn’t even bother to look at it, just stared intently into the black dragon’s eyes.
The black dragon’s scales darkened in color a bit, and his already injured wing membranes crumpled a bit, and it seemed like he was starting to panic, insulting something for a while, but Jace couldn’t hear it at all anymore.
The black dragon grubbed with his front claws to get his body propped up from the rubble, it turned out that his lower body had been bruised by the collapsing wall and he was having trouble moving, but this time he managed to wrench himself completely free and move closer towards Jace.
He kept opening his mouth to growl, but it all seemed to Jace like it was muted, until a spear suddenly plunged into his neck at the foot.
The black dragon roared as it finally braced itself, and another, and another, and the silver-armored soldiers clad in the emblem of Lordaeron rushed forward, stabbing between the black dragon’s scales again and again with their long weapons.
The black dragon whimpered weakly and finally collapsed to fall at Jace’s feet, his trembling eyes slowly closing.
Is it over?
Jace couldn’t hear anything, he couldn’t see anything anymore, only the burning in his body and the severe regurgitation in his system, he felt his palms full of blood spots and his vision reddened and blurred ……
A wave of nausea came over him and he vomited a large mouthful of purple pus and blood on the black dragon’s head ……
It was only then that I felt better, my voice, my sight, all of it returned.
He looked blankly in front of him, only to see a group of soldiers from Lordaeron rushing in to hold him up, and an officer shouted, “Both of these men have received shadow damage from the black dragon, we must find a priest quickly, go and shout for a priest! Many of the Alliance soldiers defending Otterlander have been crippled for life because they weren’t saved in time!”
“Rev! Priest!”
“Brute Hammer Warrior’s injuries are less severe, take this Dalaran mage back first!”
“He’s not a Dalaran mage ……”
“This is the ring of the Stormwind Kingdom Mage Guild!”
“Who cares where he’s from, are you trying to get into Kenrito if you know so much? Hurry the fuck up!”
