    Chapter Index

The next morning, Jess went into the Slaughtered Lamb Hotel, said hello to Zare Moore, and walked down the steps to the basement as usual.

Today he had come to explain the situation to Gagin or anyone else who was here and prepare to say goodbye, after all, he was going to be gone for almost two months and he couldn’t leave without saying goodbye, could he?

Through the cell door to the hall, still Galders sat there, the guy seemed like he didn’t usually have much to do, five out of seven days a week he was stuck in the basement reading and drinking tea.

“Galdus, tell Gagin for me that I’m going back to Lordaeron for the Winterfell Festival, and I probably won’t see him for a while.”

“Are you coming back?” Galdus asked.

Jace said, “Of course I’m coming back, why wouldn’t I? I have so much to do in the mage district.”

“We had a member before that, who also said he was going away last year, went away and never came back.” Galders said, “He was one of the most talented of us, I don’t think Gagin and I could probably match him, and it broke Gagin’s heart to have him go, and you remind me of him, Jace.”

“I’ve never heard of such a person, no one has ever mentioned it to me.” Jess said.

Galdus said, “Because his whole persona was so mysterious, I even felt at first as if he was going to leave sooner or later, but of course at the time I only thought it was my fault. Ursula had just joined us when he left, Erland about the same, and the rest of us, well, probably didn’t want to talk about him too much.”

“Can I ask his name?” Jess asked.

“That’s not much, guess that’s not a real name either.” Galdus said, “His name is Morsul, and he doesn’t sound like he’s from the Stormwind Kingdom, and he says he’s here to work for money in Stormwind, just like you.”

Morsul? If it was the same Morsul that Jace was thinking of, of course he knew who he was, but it was in the game.

In the level 60 version, Morsul the Bloodcaller is the NPC for the Warlock’s Thousand Golden Horses quest, standing at the Altar of Storms in the Burning Plains waiting for others to help him gather materials to complete the Demonic Rituals that link him to the Twisted Void together.

It was a rather mysterious NPC, just standing there in a black robe with no future or past.

But it was not at all surprising to Jace that he was associated with the underground group of warlocks in Stormwind City; after all, the storm altar built by the orcs was not far from Stormwind City, it was just difficult to get there directly as it required a trip over the mountains.

“By the way, the Storm Altar itself is a place of ritual sacrifice that gathers magic power, the orcs built the Storm Altar itself in Azeroth to gather the energy of the magic net here, to help Gul’dan or other powerful orc warlocks to channel mana, summon demons or cast terrible spells that are enough to change the situation of war.” Jace seemed to be able to guess why Morsul wanted to leave this place, perhaps in his eyes this little gang should have no future, continuing to stay would be a complete waste of time, it was impossible to get good at Shadow Magic with these mongrels.

So he left the area to seek out more powerful sources of magic, especially Shadow magic sources, in his quest to increase his power and learn even deeper and more terrifying magic.

The Storm Altar of the Burning Plains became a good place to go, and while the orcs of the Black Stone Tower were fighting the Black Iron Dwarves, before the Black Dragon descended upon the Black Stone Mountains, most of the orc-built camps and facilities throughout the Burning Plains were completely abandoned, unattended by anyone except for a few rampant Fire Elementals and native beasts.

Mosur probably saw this as an opportunity and was going to risk taking the entire Storm Altar all to himself.

That was why even after more than a decade, the War of the Heavenly Calamity had ended and the timeline had gone to the level 60 stage of the World of Warcraft, the warlocks in Storm City were still a bunch of generalists who could only teach some shallow magic, while Morsul was already able to communicate with worlds in the distant Twisted Void, and tame the dreaded Kthonos Dread Warhorse, which were not the same class of spellcasters at all.

Speaking of which, is it possible to summon a Dread Warhorse here?

“I don’t trust that man.” Galdus’ words interrupted Jace’s thoughts, “I think he’s full of lies, it might be a good thing for us that he’s out of here, Gagin thinks he’s the artist and I think sooner or later he’s going to bring trouble to the slaughtered lamb …… or us ‘Dagger Society’ ‘” When he finished, his eyes became unusually serious and he said, “Jace, by the way, let me say this. Wherever you go, wherever you intend to go, don’t talk about anything related to the ‘Dagger Society’, this is our tacit agreement, our rule. My important task here is to keep our activities from becoming known to the outside world, and believe me, Jace, if anyone out there learns of our existence, our goals, I will soon find out who leaked this out. I have the power to make that person disappear forever, whether it be Gagin, Sulenna, or Ursula, or you.”

“Of course, so is Morsul, except that it’s been business as usual since he left us, and I think it’s because his own dirty secrets are far more troubling than ours, so he’s just going to have to be honest and do what he wants to do, and never have anything to do with us again.”

Jace nodded, “I’m certainly aware of that, Galdus.”

“That’s fine, Jace.” Galdus nodded and said, “I like you as a person, I’m very happy that you’re willing to stay, and I’ll only be sorry if you don’t come back again and not stand in the way of anything, just don’t make our relationship so bad that we can’t end it.”

When Galdus said, “I like you a lot,” Jace felt a pang of discomfort instead of appreciation.

It’s possible that this guy is some kind of MI7 agent, or an underground thief, an elite member of the killer’s guild, coming to the slaughtered lambs just for the fun of it, just his hobby.

He had a feeling that Gagin was just looking for identity with the lambs he had already slaughtered based on his love of fallen magic, and that the man in front of him was the one who was really making a career out of this set of things.

“Don’t be so nervous, Jace.” Galdus said, “I’ll tell a few others about your temporary departure, and may you have a safe journey wherever you go.”

How can Jace not be nervous, a guy who can’t figure out his background says he has the power to make you disappear at any time, a death threat like that if you can still be calm ……

As he left the tavern, Jace felt as if he had been chained to the slaughtered lamb by something; had Galdus put some kind of secret sealing spell on himself?
