Chapter 122: Magic Power and Magic Web Nodes
by Jessie@AFNCCJace lightly burrowed into the library of the Sorcerer’s Sanctuary, surprisingly coming directly near the language book counter, where he had been studying orcish language related all this time he was used to walking.
Folded back to ask the administrator about the information book about mana spirit energy, the administrator instructed the floor area surprisingly also have to check the apprentice micro-record, it turns out that if you are not an apprentice, there is no way to access those books.
He had previously looked up either anything that had to do with ancillary courses, like alchemy or herbology that sort of thing, or languages, and this was the first time he had looked up something about magic.
Perhaps the libraries of the Sorcerer’s Sanctuary follow some sort of Tirisfal Guardian Council’s universal code of not abusing the arcane arts as well.
The diagrams of researching human mana related were very numerous, the rows of bookcases were mostly about this part, over the past few thousand years, humans had done who knows how many kinds of experiments trying to figure out what the source of mana really was, surprisingly, there wasn’t a lot of elven research here.
After checking out the basic books on mana sources, Jace realized that it seemed like the High Elves didn’t care much about things like caps on mana energy.
Because they have the Well of the Sun.
The Well of the Sun, a magical well located in the north of Quel’thalas on an island called Quel’danas, is a holy place for the entire Elven Kingdom and a pillar of Elven civilization.
The Ancient Battle of 10,000 years ago destroyed the Upper Elves’ Well of Eternity, the Kadorean imperial capital of Sin’Aysari, and also the Upper Elves’ dreams of eternal domination.
The fallen nobles were captured by the once inferior – and later Dark Elves – and forced to give up the arcane arts and submit to a more natural way of life, but some of the upper elves were not willing to do so.
The ancestor of the royal family of Quel’thalas, Darth Rema Sunseeker, stole a vial of eternal water guarded by the Dark Elves across the ocean to the Eastern Continent divided between two vast troll empires, these vials being the last legacy of the destroyed Well of Eternity.
This vial of Eternal Well water was poured into the magical springs of Quel’thalas, creating the powerful Well of the Sun, which became the second home of these upper-class elves.
For thousands of years, these self-proclaimed Higher People have given countless lives in defense of the Well of the Sun, simply because it is by the power of these magical springs that the elves have thrived and grown, and this has been the case from the first time that the Upper Elves walked the continent of Ancient Kalimdor until today.
Whether it was the elves of the upper echelons of the past or the elves of Quel’thalas nowadays, whenever they wanted to use magic, the Well of Eternity or the Well of the Sun, which possessed infinite energy, would provide them with energy.
These elves live with the magical wells that accompany them, it can be said that these magical wells gave birth to them and nourished them, these elves can not eat or drink, but they can not stay away from the magical wells for too long.
Correspondingly, the magic well in turn takes care of them, loves them, and even indulges their needs …… For many of the elves who never leave the magic well, such things as mana are like air, coming when called, and only barbaric races far away from civilization will rack their brains to withhold a little magic.
Jace realized that the very bookshelves he was looking at were written by the brains of the savage race of humans wringing out their brains.
Humans have concluded from observing elves and observing the environment they live in that in order to enhance their magical power, they must be close to the source of magical power and strengthen their spiritual power through prolonged magical immersion.
Some actively summon arcane magic around them by casting spells without stopping, strengthening their body’s affinity with magic and increasing their mental power in one connection and communication.
Marin didn’t tell him that some people chose to go directly near the source of magic in nature, the magical web veins, those most energized passages of the magical webs that dotted Azeroth below.
Or the most powerful source of magic a magic web node.
A magic web node was a place where countless magic web veins were intertwined, and Jace knew that the most powerful magic web nodes on all of Azeroth, one located in the north in Northrend, were the abode of the blue dragons. It was known as the Magic Hub, and in the dragon language, Magic Hub and Magic Web Node were the same word.
One is located in the south and very close to Stormwind, that is where Karazhan is situated, even the Blue Dragon believes that Karazhan is the location where almost all of the powerful magical veins meet.
Just like the Magic Hub and Karazhan, those other relatively weak magic network nodes have long since been occupied by a variety of temples, national capitals, such as that magic spring born from the Well of the Sun is a very strong magic network node, no less than the existence of Karazhan and the Magic Hub.
Jace probably understood why Marin hadn’t mentioned this approach, because an apprentice like Jace simply didn’t have the ability to get close to any powerful source of magical power to live a life of “cultivation”.
All the nodes of the magic network were either heavily guarded or their mere proximity was fraught with danger, and the explosion in Karazhan had not only destroyed the entirety of the Leeward Trail, but had even blackened half of the Elwyn region, not to mention the horrors at the bottom of Karazhan’s tower.
As for the Well of the Sun, Jace couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh at the thought.
At present, there are not many humans who are able to cross the gate of the High Elves into the region of Quetzalcoatl, not to mention crossing the Rune Stone Formation and the impenetrable magical barrier “Bantinorel” to enter the city of Silvermoon.
And the Well of the Sun was even farther north, obscured by the white walls and golden tiles of Silvermoon City, across a strait to reach it, and legend had it that every elf guarding the Well of the Sun was a member of a princely family, a son of a great clan, an elite among the elite.
Not to mention humans, not even an elf with a less than noble bloodline is allowed near.
A headache, a real headache.
Knowing too much instead made it increasingly difficult for Jace to raise his mana. If he didn’t know about this mess, he might have been a bit blindly optimistic.
Jace continued to rummage through the other nodes of the magical web in an attempt to try and find the most likely place to reach, and he even found records related to mages who had been investigating the frequent activity of elemental creatures in the western wilderness, which also contained accounts of mages who had attempted to communicate with the elementals in the Kalimdorian language.
I didn’t realize that a mage from the Sorcerer’s Sanctuary would want to moonlight as a shaman in order to make himself stronger, it’s even more outspoken than he is, warlocks and mages at least have something in common, it’s too much of a roll.
He found a record in a book documenting the geography of Hillsbrad of a vein of magical webs that lay dormant underneath Ambermere, leading straight to Dalaran.
Yes, Dalaran itself was a magic web node, no wonder the elven and human mages had chosen to build their cities here in the first place, sheltering spellcasters who were mistrusted in the major kingdoms.
Thinking that there were only two more days before he would be traveling by boat to Dalaran, Jace couldn’t help but feel a little excited inside.
Despite being born in Lordaeron, and having grown up on the shores of Tirisfa and Lake Lordanmere, he had never entered, or even ever been near, the enchanted city, having only ever viewed the vaguely violet-colored towers from the lake from a distance.
Hopefully the trip will be all right and nothing else will go wrong.
