Ursula gave him a blank look, but finally nodded, “That’s true, that scale was perfect, Jace, and it worked even better than I expected. Never mind, I’ll let you off the hook this time, you little brat.”

“Then again, what do you want to do with that scale?” Jace asked surreptitiously.

“Secrets.” Ursula said with a sideways glance, “You’re not being honest with me, and don’t expect anyone else to tell you everything.”

Jace grimaced helplessly and looked to Gagin, who was illuminated by the firelight in the center.

At this point Gagin was reciting the incantation for the Weakness Curse, and then proceeded to explain the casting maneuvers, all of which Jace had written for him, so he didn’t listen much.

Those present could now smell a roasting aroma, which was wafting back in reverse from the inn’s kitchen.

If this was the last spell, it was logical to wait for dinner when it was done, and Jace had been waiting for this moment since the beginning.

Instead, Gagin suddenly said, “This little group of ours has been around for a while, and now Galdus and I would like us to come up with a name to strengthen the cohesion and continue our spirit of sharing and helping each other. What do you guys think?”

Erland shouted “Agreed.” , Ursula and Sulenna nodded as well, and naturally Jace had little reason to refuse.

“Everyone agreeing would be great.” Gagin said, “You guys can come up with any suitable names and see what everyone thinks.”

Sulenna said, “Black Rose, don’t you guys think that’s a cool name?”

“Sounds like a pirate group.” Ursula said, “And would it be too flashy?”

“It’s something like that.” Gagin said.

“The Dark Brotherhood!” Erland snapped, “We were born in darkness, and we grow in darkness!”

Hearing the name Jace shivered, calling it that could be a bit of a string, this was Azeroth not Tamriel!

Ursula said, “That doesn’t sound like a good guy, we’re not a vicious criminal gang plotting murder and arson here, no need to make ourselves look so evil.”

“It’s neither here nor there, so name one! Ms. Deering!” Erland said unhappily.

Ursula stammered for a while, she didn’t seem to have any good ideas.

“I have a proposal.” Galdus said, “Let’s call it the Dagger Society, each of us completed the sacrificial ritual of slaughtering a lamb with a dagger when we were initiated into the Order, and I see the dagger as a symbol that connects us, something we have in common.”

Gagin said, “Low key enough, but will it be taken for a killer gang?”

Galdus says, “The Dark Brotherhood and the Black Rose are more like gangs of killers by comparison, aren’t they? Daggers, after all, have been important ceremonial ritual instruments since ancient times.”

“That’s a boring name, too.” Ursula said.

“You stop talking, Ursula Delin!” Erland said, “Just call it the Dagger Society, does a name have to be such a pain in the ass?”

“What about Sulenna and Jace, what do you think?” Gagin asked.

“I’m fine with that.” Jace said, “It’ll be called the Dagger Club.”

“Since Galdus said so, I agree.” Sulenna said.

In fact, Galdus’ suggestion of the name Dagger Society, while surprising to Jace, was not unexpected.

In the game, more than twenty years later, the warlocks of Azeroth formed an organization called the Black Mirror Council, which was formerly a group of six powerful warlocks who called themselves the “Six Daggers”.

Maybe Galdus’s Dagger Council, was the original form of this Six Dagger Council?

Jace had always assumed that the founder of the Council of the Six Daggers was Kansared Eberlock, the original leader of the Council of the Black Mirror. Cansared was much more famous to most warlock players outside of humans than this group of warlocks.

Only now, Jace had never heard of the man in the real Azeroth, but he did know that the surname Eberrock was a Glen noble, meaning that Cansared was probably in the town of Glen right now, which would later become the town of Night.

Could he be there alone, secretly studying dark magic?

“Well, I now announce that the first potluck of the Dagger Society will now begin!” As soon as Gakin’s words left his mouth, he heard Sulenna exclaim, “Thank you Holy Light, I can finally eat something, my stomach is starting to growl.”

    “Thanks for the holy light?!”

    “Tsk!”

A few of the men laughed, and the basement, which was still a bit serious, became a lot lighter.

Jace slowly lifted himself up to stretch as well, putting his book away and waiting for Zare to bring the food down.

He hadn’t eaten anything all day waiting for this free meal, and he was already overly hungry, but now that someone had mentioned a big meal, it caused his stomach to growl again.

“Do you like it here, Jace?” Ursula’s voice came to a whisper.

“Sure.” Jess said, “It’s kinda relaxing here.”

“Isn’t it because of Sulenna?” She asked again.

“Sulenna?” Jess asked curiously, “Why? I don’t know her well at all.”

“You don’t? Seriously? Those men have been fucking her.” Ursula said quietly, “Gagin, Erland, even Zare …… the wine waiter who claimed he had nothing to do with the warlock community fucked her, Galdus …… I don’t know, anyway he certainly wasn’t as moralistic as he seemed to be look. So what about you?”

Jace wasn’t at all surprised by this sort of thing; that Sulenna woman seemed almost like the type. Still, he shook his head and simply said, “Maybe we’re not close enough for that.”

“Be vigilant, Jace.” Ursula said, “Whatever it is gets a million times more complicated all at once as soon as that gets involved, and I think you’re a kind little guy, so I don’t want you to get dragged into the water too. When the day comes that they, the scum of the earth, make a mess, you’ll be on your own as long as you haven’t gotten involved, know what I mean?”

Listening to the word “goodness”, Jace suddenly thought of the sheep that he had whipped into a wild dog, and wondered what had happened to it, whether it had been eaten by wolves, captured by jackals, or was still wandering in the forest.

“Sulenna is not to my liking.”

Ursula pressed, “Is it hard to believe that you like men?”

“No.” Jace said, “Simply that Sulenna is not appetizing.”

Ursula said quietly, “Don’t talk too much. When it does come to that, I hope you remember what you said and don’t just have your body honestly submit when the time comes.”

Jace looked at Gagin and Erlend and then at Sulenna.

“It would have been fine if she was whiter, but now the lights are a little dimmer and you can’t see her clearly.”

He didn’t say any more, just smacked his lips and shook his head in self-deprecation, and Ursula sat back with a laugh.
