Surviving the Game as a Barbarian – 98
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 98: Barbarian Trophy (5)
Unfortunately the opponent he faced in the semifinals was not the last member of Knight Samdori.
Well the other one lost in the second round.
For some reason he gave off the impression that he had intentionally lost.
‘In the end one guy couldn’t do physical therapy.’
Anyway there was no need to aim for the head so as soon as the duel began I smashed the sword with a double-edged axe.
But did he not want to lose to the barbarians?
“Oh not yet!”
The opponent showed his will to continue the duel with his bare hands even after losing his sword. Therefore I also threw away my ax and ran to break his spine.
“The winner is Bjorn Yandel of Baron Martoin!”
Although it was a bloodless victory the audience’s reaction was not bad.
“Waaaa!!”
“Bjorn son of Little Balkan Yandel knight crusher!!”
Apparently the sight of a person being folded in half was quite stimulating for them as well.
The impression was not much different from the Baron.
As soon as he returned to the barracks the Baron’s eyes widened and he asked a question.
“Hey do you know that? It gave me goosebumps! “Where did you learn that skill to throw someone in the air and then catch them on your knees?”
Well if I had to answer I saw it in a cartoon a while ago.
Today I found out for the first time that this was physically possible.
Nothing is truly impossible for a barbarian.
“I’m going to rest a bit until the next match.”
“huh? “Oh I see.”
After asking the Baron’s understanding I closed my eyes for a moment.
It’s not that I’m sleepy or anything…
‘Is there only one left?’
My heart started pounding as the high point was right in front of me.

The long-awaited final has begun.
“Sir Albatross of Count Verdehild and Bjorn Yandel of Baron Martohan please take your seats!”
The opponent was the host of the banquet and an apprentice knight under Count Verdehild who had encouraged me to participate in the tournament…
I don’t know if it’s an afterthought.
I wasn’t too worried about the duel itself.
That’s because I finished understanding the opponent by watching the previous game.
“Nice to meet you.”
A large knight holding a huge sword and giving a brief greeting.
I chuckled while looking at him.
‘I think I know what kind of personality the Count has.’
A knight is different from an explorer.
To them water purification is nothing more than a means to assist swordsmanship. Therefore most of them chose essences related to physical values but the combination of essences varied from family to family.
After systematic research several effective combinations have become standard but…
Because characters always have something called a ‘concept’.
‘An Orc warrior a giant golem and a cyclops…’
The opponent is a typical strength knight.
Perhaps because they had priests in mind they placed more emphasis on physical resistance rather than regenerative ability and used a high level of strength to fit a full set of armor made of lithiumium a level 2 material.
In fact it’s like a walking tank.
‘You made a lot of money off of the apprentice knight.’
While guessing the Count’s tastes he is once again surprised by his wealth.
One 7th grade and two 6th grade.
I guess I bought purified water in a test tube and gave it to him but how much did it cost?
‘If you add the equipment he’s wearing he’s actually far beyond the level of a 3rd floor explorer.’
Suddenly it occurred to me that the Count might not even have considered my possibility of winning.
To that extent this guy’s level was unparalleled.
Most of the participants were level 2 and only had a level 7 at best.
“Where did you put your equipment and are you bare?”
Anyway just before the duel began as we were touching each other’s weapons the other person asked a question.
Unlike the previous duel I was surprised to see myself holding only an axe.
I answered briefly.
“Because it’s inconvenient.”
This is not meant to be an insult; it is true.
Heavy plate boots overly designed helmet belt shoulder pads etc. Even though it is difficult to expect defensive power shouldn’t it interfere with movement?
“I guess so. Actually it would be difficult to fight like usual while wearing something like that.”
Fortunately the other person heard me without misinterpreting what I said.
But that was just it.

“I was worried that it would end too easily but it seemed like they were serious about it so I was relieved.”
That relaxed expression and tone of voice must be an expression of confidence that no matter what I do I will be the one to win.
I didn’t feel the need to continue talking.
“That’s good.”
If the other person lets down their guard it would be welcomed.
Sreuk.
Remove the weapons you are facing and increase the distance.
This was the same for the other party.
When the gap between them widened to about 15 meters the referee raised the flag.
This means that it is now okay to attack each other.
“Come.”
The opponent takes a stance and swings his sword.
As I look at him I feel like I can picture the scenario he would be hoping for in my mind.
A barbarian who showed such overwhelming force that he earned the new title of ‘Knight Smasher’.
A true knight who gracefully and nobly won victory over such a barbarian.
Cheers from the crowd and recognition from the lord.
A rosy future unfolds like a solid road.
Eat.
I can feel how easy this guy has lived.
Whether my prediction was right or not.
If he wants something he must be more earnest.
When things go well he should always keep in mind not how well they could go but the opposite.
‘Still seeing you let down your guard like this I’m glad I kept it a secret until the end.’
A tournament hosted by the Count.
“Behel—laaaaa!!”
I used that combo for the first time.
***
“The character casted [Giant].”
「The character’s physique increases and the threat value and body value increase in proportion to the size.」
“The character used [Wild Eruption].”
“Temporarily the character’s threat value increases by three times and the physical value increases in proportion to that value.”
***
[Giantization] and [Wild Eruption].
When these two skills are used together the threat level increases tremendously. And in proportion to that the physical parameters also increase dramatically.
The downside is that [Wild Eruption] only lasts 30 seconds…
So what do you mean?
At least for now I can feel the crazy mulberry taste.
‘Well I didn’t know it would end so vainly.’
Is this a side effect of an excessively high threat level?
Regardless of whether it was a winning mentality or not the threat level worked regardless of the subject’s personality.
“Uh uh uh….”
An overwhelming sense of fear presented to the enemy.
bang! bang! bang! bang!
Even though it was charging and making a sound like that of a large monster the knight was stunned and unable to move.
However the moment you are about to bring the ax down.
“Hee hee!”
The knight who evaded the attack by rolling on the floor began to run away in a huff.
However there is no way that it will be possible to run away from this narrow stage forever.
As if in a boxing game I expertly cornered him and stretched out my hand to catch him.
It was that moment.
“Now out of the gate!”
The finale ended without a single proper fight as the guy ran away.
‘It’s nice that I’m comfortable but…’
The audience’s reaction was cold.
Fortunately there were no criticisms directed at me but the driver who showed dishonorable behavior was met with really harsh boos.
“Oh no I didn’t realize this… I can do it all again… if I do it again!”
He must have come to his senses later and climbed onto the battlefield but it was no different from touching a dead child.
“How far are you going to embarrass me?”
He was asking the referee for a reversal but he hung his head at the count’s cold words.
“The winner is Bjorn Yandel of Baron Martoin!”
Ugh maybe I shouldn’t have used [Giantization]?
I had that thought too late.
In the end I won easily but this was enough to make me feel uncomfortable.
‘I guess I ended up touching the earl’s heart…’
In fact it was bad news for me who was more worried about the future than winning the tournament.
I never would have thought that my actions of hiding my full potential until the very end in order to eliminate even the slightest variable would lead to such a variable.
‘Shit I didn’t know you would run away like that.’
You’re not going to end up doing this after all right?
Although he was worried the count just smiled cheerfully as he personally went up on stage and presented him with his winning prize a necklace and trophy.
“haha! “Today’s work was very impressive.”
The count couldn’t reach his shoulder so he patted my forearm to encourage me. I couldn’t tell if he really didn’t have a grudge or if he was just acting.
It was a time when I was so quiet and watched.
The Count muttered so that only I could hear.
“I will call you separately when you are more ready.”
“…calling you?”
“There is no need to know the details. Until then if other nobles call you just ignore them. “Do you understand?”
I didn’t understand what he meant but he nodded.
That’s because he has that much sense.
‘With those cruel eyes….’
If I said no he was ready to do something.
Anyway the long banquet came to an end with the award ceremony. Well there were a lot of people who wanted to stay and enjoy the place until dawn…
It was not Baron Martoin.
“I’m tired. “Let’s go back soon.”
I returned to the mansion with the same number of people I had originally come with and got all my equipment back. And I was even paid for my hard work as promised.
“You really had a hard time today. It is certain that your name and that of my family will be a hot topic in social circles in the coming months. So if you have any trouble don’t hesitate to come to me.”
The Baron seemed to like me quite a bit.
Even if it’s just empty words when I see you say something like that.
‘Well I’ve done this much so it’s worth being happy about it.’
“Then let’s go. I’m tired too. “I told you to prepare a carriage so you can take it and go.”
“thanks!”
I soon left the imperial capital Karnon and returned to my lodgings in Ravigion. It was after 2 am.
I was tired both physically and mentally as a lot had happened during the day…
‘Then let’s get started.’
I sat at the table not the bed.
And then the final settlement began.
The initial promised fee of 1 million stone.
The tournament entry fee is 2 million stones.
An additional fee of 1 million stones was promised to be paid if the winner was won.
A reward of 300000 stones was received for transferring the championship trophy to the Baron.
‘A total of 4.3 million stone in cash.’
Is it because the client is a rich nobleman?
I received such a large amount of money that it was hard to believe that it was just daily wages.
Even this is not the end.
Anyway the new nickname is Knight Crusher.
‘I didn’t expect to get this so early on…’
No.7777 Garfas’ necklace.
In fact if you are unlucky you may get something that you would not have been able to get even if you worked hard in the latter part of the game.
Of course a huge amount of goods will be consumed to awaken the Hidden Piece…
There is no room to deny that this is incredible luck.
Therefore I promised myself again.
‘How many lucky stacks have you accumulated already?’
From now on I really need to be careful about my breathing.
***
The morning after the banquet.
One question was resolved.
At least halfway.
‘What letter…’
As soon as I woke up the mail started arriving non-stop. They were all sent by nobles.
A letter asking if you could attend a banquet.
For reference the letter also included a promise to pay ‘a small amount of compensation’ for participation.
What I’m saying is I thought I could make a living for the rest of my life just by doing this but…
‘This is what the earl was talking about.’
The meaning of the statement “I will call you separately when I am ready” is still unclear. But this must have meant ignoring the nobles’ calls.
‘How much is posterior bone loss?’
Therefore I wrote back and declined all of them.
If you chew in silence proud nobles might retaliate.
However if I participate I think I will incur the Count’s wrath.
‘What on earth is the Count thinking?’
Honestly I’m the most scared of him.
Although they continued to treat me in a friendly manner once these guys make a mistake their eyes turn upside down.
It was also a turn-off that the intention was unclear in the first place.
How could someone as high as a count be interested in a barbarian explorer?
‘Next time the community opens let’s investigate the count.’
With the new quest in mind I quickly got ready to go out.
And then headed to the Magic Tower.
‘This month is the last day of regular research.’
Before we know it the three months we promised with Raven are coming to an end.
Well the purpose of today’s visit has nothing to do with that.
“How are you?”
When we arrive at Raven’s personal laboratory we are greeted by her somehow still intact from the morning breeze.
“So where is the senior person I need to help me with my research today?”
“That’s….”
Raven frowned.
That was all but I had a somewhat ominous feeling.
It was that moment.
“It’s been a while.”
An old man with white hair pops out from behind the door as if he had been waiting.
Master of the Artemion School.
Commonly known as ‘old man’.
“Whoa….”
There wasn’t much explanation but I understood the situation in an instant.
“I think he definitely called me ‘senior’.”
“sorry. “Master was so unreasonable…”
Yes he forced this change.
As I glanced over the old man burst out laughing benevolently.
“Don’t be too nervous. “It’s not such a grand experiment.”
You have to listen to know that.
When I asked him to explain the old man opened his mouth in a meaningful tone.
“It’s an experiment to see whether or not evil spirits can be distinguished using the magic tools made by Nobu!”
No fuck.
What is this again?
