Surviving the Game as a Barbarian – 63
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 63: Cabin (2)
Day 8 of the shipwreck.
Surprisingly we had never encountered a group of explorers before as we wandered aimlessly through the Witch’s Forest.
Even considering the regional characteristics there was a possibility that we would meet at least once…
If you look closely it wasn’t that unusual.
First of all the witch’s forest is wide.
Additionally because it is not used as a main hunting ground the resident population itself is small.
We were just wandering aimlessly and not heading to the center.
The likelihood of meeting by chance is low.
‘More than anything by this time everyone who will pass by will have already passed by.’
Still I thought that when the third floor closed there would be an influx of explorers trying to go to the fourth floor.
Usually when raising a floor it is common to first look at the structure a little like that.
‘Then are they also the ones trying to go up to the 4th floor now?’
Well that seems highly likely.
Of course that doesn’t mean you can trust them.
“Barbarian and beastman? “Is it really just the two of you?”
Just as I judged them as soon as I saw them they also recognized us.
It must be amazing to do this.
It’s not just the first or second floor but the third floor. It’s a two-person team wandering around the witch’s forest.
A man who appeared to be the leader of a five-person team came to a conclusion.
“…Did you guys get dropped from the team?”
“Yes.”
I admitted it obediently.
It’s good to be brazen but only when you have the strength to make it work.
If you say no like this in the first place it will only look strange and what will you gain by insisting that it is not?
Of course apart from acknowledging it you still have to be careful.

“Ugh! Bjorn! “Are we really alive now?”
“Stay still.”
Misha who was already making a fuss about her pushed her back and blocked her path.
And she quietly raised her shield.
“Don’t be too guarded. “Because we are not bad people.”
At my actions a middle-aged human woman came forward and smiled warmly…
“There are sons and daughters in the city just as big as you. “I know what you’re worried about but you must be tired so come on—”
“I refuse.”
She has a son and daughter?
So what?
In fact it looks more dangerous.
Doesn’t having children to feed mean that the motivation to earn money is clearer?
“Bjorn why are you like that? “They might be able to help us…”
“Be quiet.”
How will you act when you meet an explorer?
There has been a lot of concern about this part.
The conclusion at that time was to ask for help first.
If they promise a certain amount of compensation and only ask you to take them out of the forest it would be a reasonable deal for them.
but….
‘If you want to do business you need to at least know what kind of people they are.’
Confirmation comes first.
“I am Bjorn son of Yandel.”
“You are a very cautious friend. Hans Stobra. “I play the role of an explorer on the team.”
When I revealed my name the leader of the other side came out and responded with a full statement.
But the problem is…
“Your name is… Hans?”
“Haha it’s a common name right?”
“That’s right.”
Why are there so many Hans in the world?
First of all the name is ominous so 1 point is deducted.
“My name is Anuman Beit. In the city I run a general store with my husband—”
The woman who was reciting her personal information in detail was interrupted mid-sentence.
“There is no need for such things.”
There is no way to check in the labyrinth whether that is true and we don’t have much time.
Whether to get help or not.
Whichever one you choose you must make a decision quickly.
‘Two warriors two archers one explorer.’

I quickly looked them up and down checking their facial expressions tone of voice and mood in addition to their approximate military strength.
Of course there is no need to closely examine them one by one.
Sometimes intuition makes more accurate decisions than ever before.
Experience and data accumulated in the unconscious.
“Misha.”
Eventually I made a decision.
There is no guarantee that this is the correct answer but…
“Will you follow my decision?”
There was no need for long words.
Misha gave a short answer to my question which omitted many details.
“Of course.”
Okay first of all I got consent.
“Enough with the introductions let’s go.”
“You want to go? “Didn’t you need our help?”
But for some reason my instincts are screaming that you are dangerous.
“Now that I think about it I don’t think it’s necessary. Now Misha let’s go then.”
“Oh I understand!”
“Hmm if you are. There’s no reason to stop it. “Let’s go quickly.”
Okay then I would have asked for their understanding.
Covering his body with a shield he slowly backed away with his eyes still focused on the other person.
It was that moment.
Hwii-ik-!
A familiar sound was heard.
And the body reacted before the brain could judge.
Whick!
As she bends her neck to the side an arrow passes by her ear.
How the fuck did they do it?
The direction it flew from is backwards.
The bastards who shot the arrows must have been in front.
“Mr. Bate what are you doing!”
One of the opposing party members looks at the archer woman and shouts something.
Wasn’t there something mutually agreed upon?
The lady who said she had a son and daughter as big as us didn’t talk any more.
“You idiots! Have you seen the equipment he has? It’s lithium equipment! Do you know how much it will cost if you sell it?”
“But he’s still an explorer…”
“Kid if you can’t do it stay out. Do you see that backpack over there? It is an expandable backpack. “Even if you earn a ton of money for a year you can’t survive.”
Was it true that she opened a general store with her husband?
This lady has a good eye.
She didn’t have the balls to praise me.
“I can’t do it.”
“Then let’s assume that the person who will be left out will be left out.”
“I will join in. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. “The situation is not good enough to pass up the money lying around.”
These people who were originally explorers quickly reached an agreement.
I watched it intently.
Misha anxiously grabbed my collar.
“Bjorn… shouldn’t we run away?”
“Wait.”
There is a searcher over there.
If you run away like this you won’t get far.
‘It’s about time…’
“Kill it….”
‘You’re here.’
I smiled bitterly.
The only reason I tried to make a decision quickly whether it was porridge or rice.
When Canivaro appears from the darkness the group of explorers who were trying to target us are startled.
“Ca canivaro?”
“Why are there two of them at the same time…?”
Well we are in our 8th day of distress.
You may have just entered but we have already reached level 10 of [Witch’s Eye].
“Misha now.”
I hugged Misha with one of her hands.
And with her other hand holding her shield she lunged forward rather than behind her.
“Canivaro casted [Chase Arrow].”
“Canivaro casted [Chase Arrow].”
On the right Canivaro was seen shooting an arrow on a string.
The more she did the faster she dashed forward.
Wow!
Eventually the barbarian’s body vision recognized that two arrows were fired simultaneously.
But there was no need to worry about the empty back.
Because now there are things that can stop it instead.
“Ah ah! Stop it!”
“What are these guys!”
The moment the barbarian pushes through the opposing group with his ignorant strength a scream is heard from the side.
It belongs to a little boy who said he couldn’t sleep.
“Ahh!”
Well you were right.
Normally good people leave early.
Kwakwang-!
“evil! Fuck my feet!!”
As if biting one tail after another explosion sounds erupted from Canivaro’s direction.
Upon quick inspection it appears that Hans D who was embarrassed by my rush and widened the distance accidentally stepped on a magic mine.
“Mr. Stove!!”
okay.
At this level it seems like the aggro has completely gone over to the other side.
“Misha you run now.”
“Oh I understand.”
I dropped off Misha who I was holding.
And I ran forward without looking back.
“Everyone what are you doing? “That’s enough of those guys so let’s deal with the monsters first!”
At this rate we won’t be able to keep up for a while.

[Dungeon & Stone] is a roguelike game.
Once you die that’s it.
The character disappears.
Of course in the end it’s just a game.
All you have to do is raise your character again and you just need to get new equipment…
The main content of this game is to head to higher floors using the information learned in previous rounds.
In [Dungeon & Stone] death is like everyday life.
But what if the world in the game was real?
Character regeneration is not possible.
No matter what you see hear or learn in this life it becomes meaningless the moment you die.
And in that sense.
“But Bjorn how on earth did you not know? “Those people would do that….”
“It’s a feeling.”
I was lucky this time.
Following the decision made by my subconscious in the moment became the correct answer.
When Misha realized her reality he couldn’t help but be shocked.
“…Persimmon?”
For some reason he said earlier that he would do as I said without any questions.
I guess I thought there must be some obvious basis.
“Isn’t the captain’s name there Hans?”
“Like that?”
“I hate that name.”
“….”
“Anyway thanks to you I escaped safely so I guess it’s a good thing.”
“That’s true….”
Misha who was trailing off with a somewhat uncomfortable expression changed the topic.
“By the way she never dreamed that the seemingly nice lady would change so suddenly….”
Misha’s body trembles slightly as she remembers the woman who glared at us venomously and screamed at us.
Her lady’s quick change of attitude seems to have come as quite a shock to her.
I don’t know if it will be any consolation but I spoke briefly.
“Maybe she was a really nice person.”
“huh? What does that mean—”
“If only we didn’t look weak.”
Also if we didn’t have expensive things.
If the place we met was a city and not a labyrinth.
That lady may have remained in our memories as a kind person.
But the lady put her arrow on her bow and pulled it faster than anyone else.
“I don’t understand why he wasn’t kind because he seemed weak…”
“Misha why did you come into the labyrinth?”
“Well I have to make money….”
“They are the same.”
Money is a means to protect yourself.
This is especially true in this world where failure to pay taxes is punishable by death.
That woman probably had more things to protect than her own life.
“…I think I learned a lot from this expedition.”
“Then move faster. “They might come after us.”
Increased movement speed.
And how long has it been?
Contrary to concerns they did not show up until over an hour later.
‘No matter how much I started off with the first attack I wouldn’t have been defeated by both Canivaro… Did something else go wrong?’
Well I think it makes sense to think that way.
Hans may have stepped on a magic mine.
In other words the chase may have been hindered because the searcher was seriously injured.
Whatever the reason we have safely overcome one crisis.
‘I hope this is the end.’
Even though I hoped so I pulled myself together.
Let’s not give up until the very end.
As always.
The most damning things come when you let your guard down.

Day 13 of the shipwreck.
The time is 7pm.
In other words there are exactly 53 hours left until the labyrinth closes.
“I found Bjorn!”
We found a tree leading to the cabin.
Looking at the light coming out slightly faded it seemed like some time had passed since the entrance was formed…
This is somewhere.
‘it’s okay.’
The worst situation was somehow avoided.
Even if you can only rest for about four hours how can you mentally survive the remaining two days?
In short the possibility of returning safely has increased dramatically.
“The character enters the witch’s hut.”
Every minute of rest was precious so I immediately put my hands on it and entered the cabin.
The scenery beyond was the same as before.
The full scent of grass and flowers.
The quiet sound of insects in the grass.
The sound of the wind as the leaves flutter.
‘Nimiral….’
Unfortunately there was something strange in the peaceful landscape.
「Current number of visitors: 5」
“The entrance is closed.”
Passenger.
That is those who discovered this cabin before us.
“Bjorn.”
“fizzle.”
I covered Misha’s mouth and quickly scanned the bay with her eyes.
‘One on the bed one on the chair and one on the lawn.’
When I checked the interior through the window there were places that were not visible due to the angle but…
First of all it would be correct to assume that there are three people in total.
The entry limit to the cabin is 5 people.
‘It’s a pain in the ass.’
I slowly approached the man who was sleeping on the grass.
And that moment.
At that moment the man turned his back towards us as if he was talking in his sleep.
I froze in shock.
‘I never thought we’d meet here again like this…’
Surprisingly it was a familiar face.
