    Episode 373: Treasure Hunter (1)

Three days after the community closed.

While she was spending her days on the 6th floor looking for a ship to board and finding a navigator to drive it she received good news from Amelia.

“Don’t worry about the Schuitz Guild anymore.”

    “Don’t you care?”

“We found the right guy and dealt with him.”

    “…what?”

When I asked her for more details she said that she did things like Amelia.

Did she find a guild official who committed crimes that would end her life if caught such as embezzlement and tax evasion?

As evidence it seems that she succeeded in destroying the guild information about ‘Richen Schuitz’ through threats.

“Rather than discarding it it would have been much safer to modify it to what we wanted but it was difficult to get there.”

“Is there a possibility that the destruction of the data could be a problem?”

“Normally there is none. “Losing or damaging administrative materials is more common than you might think.”

    Well that’s right….

As she nodded her head Amelia continued to say that she had not discarded all of her data and that she still had data showing that Lihenshütz was a level 5 explorer.

Simply put it means that level 5 status will be maintained.

“Do you have a vaguely puzzled face?”

“No matter how common loss is in the world it seems a bit suspicious that my data suddenly disappeared.”

“Still it would be much better than leaving the old data unattended right?”

    Well that’s definitely true.

Even though it may be difficult to get rid of my bad feelings at least I can avoid giving physical evidence to the person chasing me.

“Well done… no thank you. “Amelia.”

“…It is natural for those who are good at it to do what they are good at.”

    “Because it’s efficient right?”

Soon Amelia nodded her head and she changed the subject.

“So what happened to your job? “Have you read all the materials handed over?”

    Ah the ship list.

It was a document that neatly summarized the specifications and prices of ships on the market.

“If there’s something you don’t like I want you to tell me quickly because I have to look for it again.”

“No there is no need for that. “As long as the contents of the document were different from the actual item there was something that was just right.”

As soon as I told her what ship I had chosen Amelia asked me the reason and I excitedly recited it.

“The price is the most expensive among the candidates but if you look at the performance and price it can be considered cheap.”

    “Hmm.”

“Furthermore if you avoid special areas you can sail up to the 7th floor in its current state. If you add options later you can also sail in special areas so there is no need to get a new ship again.”

    “I see?”

Soon Amelia answered without her soul.

I wondered why I asked if they were going to react so calmly…

“Well what you’re saying is definitely true. “Because this is what you do best.”

As Amelia continued I stuttered without realizing it.

    “Uh… Is that so?”

“We are already on the same boat and you are the captain of that boat.”

Words that can’t help but make the listener feel embarrassed.

However I also had this thought separately.

Is he doing this on purpose to cheer me up?

Well lately I’ve been mostly stuck at home and just asking them for favors.

    Maybe it was consideration—

“Then since the ship has been decided let’s go first. “If you move quickly you will be able to place a promise before the exchange closes.”

I wanted to ask if it was really because of me that he said that but I couldn’t because Amelia put on her coat and went out.

    Well it’s not that important.

‘Anyway I saved the ship with this…’

If I had a bigger budget I could have gotten a better boat but I’m not particularly disappointed.

Because the pear I chose this time was pretty good.

    ‘The problem is the navigator….’

Since ancient times the problem has been people not things.

    dripping.

As I was lying in bed reading books I borrowed from the library I heard a knock on the door.

Hmm is it already time for dinner?

    “Come in.”

As soon as I gave permission the door opened as if it had been waiting.

As expected the visitor was Erwen.

Amelia is probably in the middle of negotiations with the seller who plans to sell her boat.

    “What’s going on?”

Soon after she closed her book and asked about her business and Erwen muttered briefly in a somewhat dissatisfied voice.

    “A guest came to visit.”

    “customer?”

As soon as she tilted her head and asked again a woman appeared in the doorway.

Her flowing white blonde hair and blue eyes.

    “It’s me.”

    It was Raven.

Unlike the last time I saw her she was wearing everyday clothes rather than the magic corps uniform and her hair was also loose and not tied up.

    Afterwards the atmosphere suddenly changed.

    “Will you come in?”

    “Oh uh….”

Before anyone could reply Raven entered the room and sat down and Erwen followed her picked up one of her chairs and sat far away from her.

    “Why did you come in?”

    “Can’t you?”

No I’m not saying it can’t be done… I was just asking why…

    What happened?

If you see them sitting so far away they won’t disturb you.

    “It’s been a while Raven.”

    “yes. How have you been?”

“Not yet. But is it okay for me to come here like this?”

“Don’t worry I managed to avoid people’s eyes.”

“Ah is that why you let your hair down and dressed like that?”

“…Then is there any other reason?”

Why is he answering so harshly?

I was just asking did something unpleasant happen?

‘I’ll have to be careful when I talk today.’

As she was thinking about that and was about to ask about her business Raven opened her mouth first.

    “book.”

    “…?”

“I guess you were reading a book. “Did you buy it?”

“No it seems like loans are available these days.”

“Ah… I heard that story before too. “It is now possible to take books out of the country only to those whose identity is clearly guaranteed right?”

“Officially but in reality unless you are a noble or a high-ranking government official you are asked to deposit a deposit.”

    “It didn’t matter uncle.”

Erwen suddenly joined the conversation but Raven nodded without showing much.

“Well if you are Mr. Tersia you can do that.”

“So why did you come all the way here while hiding? Did something happen?”

I hurriedly checked the business before the topic of conversation went into a strange direction and Raven also finished the introduction at this point and got into the main topic.

“Mr. Yandel… no I’m sorry. “Even if I keep being careful it doesn’t stick to my mouth.”

    “It’s okay.”

“Anyway I came because I have something to tell you Mr. Schuitz.”

Okay so you didn’t just come to see me.

I was just wondering because the introduction was long.

    “A story? “Tell me.”

It didn’t seem like it would be a light topic so I kept my voice serious and focused on the conversation.

“The royal family has begun an informal investigation into Mr. Schuitz.”

    “Informal investigation?”

“It usually happens when new characters appear. “If an official investigation is conducted without justification it looks like control and oppression towards explorers.”

Hmm does it feel like a civilian inspection?

It’s a dictatorship anyway but people look at it from strange places.

    “Anyway so?”

“An investigation was conducted against me as well so I disclosed a certain amount of information as I said. “I only picked out the things that couldn’t be hidden like the abilities that Mr. Yandel showed back then.”

“Nevertheless if it was an unofficial investigation it seems like there was some suspicion about my identity itself.”

“yes. If that were the case wouldn’t you have been caught a long time ago? “Even if it’s informal there are times when things are done in a moderate way and vice versa.”

Rumors that the royal family is training secret special forces in the dark are not actually rumors.

A group like the Order of the Rose or something else is a representative example.

“So what happened to you? “First of all from the higher-ups’ perspective it seems like you omitted the report.”

“That’s okay. He used the excuse that the 3rd Corps Commander position was vacant at the time. “I also told my immediate superior Director Pevrosk that I had submitted a separate report.”

“Then won’t you get caught lying?”

“It’s not a lie. As soon as I returned to the city I reported it to the leader. Of course it’s a made-up story to some extent.”

    “I see….”

Although it feels reassuring to be able to handle things clearly on the other hand feelings of guilt also bloom.

“I’m sorry for getting you into my business Raven.”

“…Isn’t that story over? “I’m just paying off a debt I owed in the past.”

“I will definitely pay this debt back.”

“Yes you absolutely have to. “Otherwise I think there will be a loss.”

The atmosphere could have become serious but Raven responded with a joking tone and it became a little more comfortable.

It’s time to move on to the next item.

“Raven have you ever heard about the national incorporation agenda?”

“Agenda for national incorporation? “What is that?”

“It is an argument for embracing evil spirits rather than defining them as enemies. “I heard that it was proposed once 150 years ago but it was canceled for various reasons.”

“Oh I remember learning it a long time ago. But why is that?”

“I heard that the agenda was discussed at the royal family meeting.”

When I explained why I brought this up Raven looked surprised.

“This is the first time I heard about that. Mr. Schuitz must have been at home most of the time so how could it be… Oh it was only 15 days ago!”

One of Raven’s strengths is that there is no need for a long explanation.

I continued speaking without confirming or denying.

“Please take a look. Who brought up the topic in the meeting and…”

    “And…?”

“Is there really no possibility that the royal family will accept that proposal?”

Maybe this will be the key point.

    ***

It’s been a pretty busy day since Raven left.

To be exact it was a busy day for Amelia not just me who stayed at home.

Although we invested almost all of our money into purchasing the ship we had set aside we were unable to find a navigator to drive the ship.

Very just the sailors were dry.

Since everyone is taking military ships and heading straight to the Dark Continent I thought there would be quite a few items for sale on the market.

“I guess it was a bit difficult to find it in just a month….”

“Speak properly. “It must be difficult to find someone who catches your eye.”

    Well that’s true.

To be honest it wasn’t that there were no navigators at all.

However the problem is that most of them were half-hearted.

Navigation skills are more important than anything else in order to properly reach the underwater island area the target of this exploration.

“Choose one thing: lower your eyes or give up. Even if a person with such skills is released on the market other teams will quickly snatch him up and he will not come to our team which is trying to hire him on a short-term contract like a mercenary.”

“okay? “Then why not give up?”

    “So easily…?”

“What can I do? The labyrinth opens in two days. “I’ll have to look for it again next month.”

“Then are you excluding the underwater island from this exploration plan?”

“No let’s just try it on our own for now. I don’t know if it will work or not but there’s nothing to do on the lower floor anyway right?”

In the first place I wasn’t able to properly collect experience points even in the early part of the 6th floor so it wouldn’t be a big loss if I couldn’t reach the Underground Island.

But maybe you were a little annoyed by my words?

“…It’s not wrong but it makes me angry. “If you had told me in advance I wouldn’t have been so busy.”

    “I… I’m sorry.”

After expressing his sincere apologies to Amelia he also called Erwen into the room and discussed plans for the next expedition.

However it didn’t take that long.

    I also have a plan B in case I can’t find a navigator.

    “Going into the crack…?”

“Not for long just for a moment. Anyway arriving at the 6th floor a few days late doesn’t mean anything big will happen. We are not planning to join the expeditionary force this time. “From what I heard it looks like you two barely even got any crack experience points?”

“Well the crack is not a place you can enter if you want….”

    That’s right.

That’s why I wasn’t able to easily share my method of opening cracks even during Team Banpoon’s days and later in the team I created myself.

‘It’s very convenient in this regard because I just ignore the fact that it’s clearly an evil spirit.’

“Anyway that’s enough of the exploration plan.”

After sharing the plan we each spent time on personal maintenance and two more days passed—

“You have entered the crystal cave on the first floor.”

It was the day to enter the labyrinth.

    “Why are you smiling uncle?”

“I’m just a little excited. “Let’s quickly start from the second floor.”

It feels like I’m exploring for the first time in a long time.
