Surviving the Game as a Barbarian – 338
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 338: Snowball (2)
2 years and 6 months.
Since I stayed there for about half a year it is safe to say that time passed roughly 5:1.
The problem is that this time ratio doesn’t seem to be fixed.
“Amelia did you arrive before me?”
Even though I was in the midst of being convinced I dared to ask and the answer came back immediately.
“Yes it was a long wait. I also left behind the magic tool you are holding now. When it returns it emits light immediately to signal me. Well… I didn’t know it would take more than two years for the signal to arrive.”
For some reason I heard a ‘beep’ sound when I woke up.
That was the sound the magic tool made when it was turned on.
“Anyway I’ll explain everything you’re curious about later so hurry up and run now.”
Amelia ended her chat and seemed to want to do everything in her power to get out of this situation but I couldn’t go along with that.
Still I couldn’t understand it at all.
“Wait a minute if the pursuer is Erwen why do you have to run away?”
“You don’t know but if she were that girl she would definitely try to kill me. “If I fight in this city where the oath is in effect I will inevitably lose.”
No I know I will lose.
“Why on earth did he kill you?”
“Because I think I had something to do with your death.”
“ah….”
Those words pictured the situation in my mind to some extent.
However despite this Amelia’s actions still did not make sense.
“But I just have to meet you and convince you—”
“Persuasion won’t be easy.”
“…what?”
When she asked back as if she didn’t understand Amelia stopped her steps. And she looked at me and said in a serious voice.
“That woman Yandel is not the fairy you knew back then.”
An expression that reminds me of some kind of monster.

Amelia was sure that no matter how much she was me she would not be able to control Erwen.
“No because something happened during that time….”
“A lot happened. “There is no time for a long explanation.”
Amelia who decisively cut off my muttering continued her sentence.
“I doubt she still has the will to do that but there is only one important thing.”
“What is that…?”
“She can’t protect you like that.”
It’s been a really long time since I felt like this.
Am I supposed to say that I can’t put my mind in order even after having a conversation?
“…protect? me? “From whom?”
I asked back blankly and Amelia answered briefly this time.
“From all of this world.”
What does this mean?
That question came to mind and I was about to ask something new.
“Bjorn Jandel.”
Amelia said calling my name.
“It happened two years ago now.”
Like a doctor who gives a patient a terminal diagnosis.
In a firm yet bitter voice.
“The royal family announced that you are an evil spirit.”
…What?

A lazy afternoon.
An office with warm sunlight streaming through the bars.
However it was far from peaceful inside.
“…That’s it.”
Alex Halo deputy commander of the 3rd Magic Corps.
He announced that the regular report was over and looked at his superior’s expression with his chin stiffly raised in his upright posture.
She was reading her papers with a frown.
“Hmm….”
Soon after reading all of her documents she raised her head and stared at him.
Those unique tired eyes that I’ve always seen.
Seeing this he quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
I know this from past experience. At least I know I’ll get through it safely this time.
“Well written. The report content is also good. I was especially interested in the part about Noark’s dynamics. It’s a guess but should I say I still have imagination? “It’s much better than the trash we’ve brought so far.”
Is this a criticism or a compliment?
I don’t know but what he was going to say was decided.

“Thank you—”
“Did you know you were going to say this?”
Holy shit.
Gulp.
He swallowed his saliva without realizing it as his voice suddenly changed.
The superior’s eyes were no longer full of fatigue.
No the fatigue was still there… but at least my eyes didn’t look sleepy.
The eyes of a predator looking at a herbivore just before being eaten.
If you stay here you’ll get really screwed.
“Please tell me what needs to be fixed and I will correct it.”
“First of all the form is the problem. In particular I should have told you this part last time but I made a mistake again. “Don’t you know that once my approval is given it will also be conveyed to Director Pevrosk?”
“…I will correct it.”
“No the content is the problem in the first place. The Noark guys might be living inside the labyrinth? How about becoming a writer instead? “I don’t think it will sell.”
“I will correct it.”
“What parrot? How are you going to correct it? “You have to say that.”
It’s finally over.
“…I’ll write it again.”
“Okay then.”
Soon the superior’s gaze shifted to other documents and Alex turned his back somehow holding on to his lost soul.
And before I knew it I very carefully closed the door so as not to disturb my boss who was already concentrating on his new work.
Sigh-
I could see my superior through the increasingly narrow gap in the door. Even with a tired face there was something about the sight of him concentrating hard on one thing that caught people’s attention.
Is that why?
I could understand why the soldiers in her corps feared her but did not hate her.
She said ‘If you were just a little nicer you would be much more popular….’
Gold mage.
The vice-captain of the 3rd Magic Corps who is more famous within the corps by his nickname ‘Little Ghost’.
‘It’s true that he looks great—’
“what are you doing? “Aren’t you going out?”
“Excuse me. Nia Lafdonia!”
Soon the embarrassed man bowed and hurriedly slammed the door he had been carefully pulling.
and….
“Ha when will that become useful?”
Gold Wizard Arua Raven looked at the closed door for a moment and sighed.
Of course it didn’t take long for the attention to shift.
She moved her pen again and tackled the tasks piled up on her desk one by one.
And how long has it been since she lasted?
“That’s it for today.”
Raven stretched her stiff body and looked at her window.
Before she knew it the world outside the window was dark as the sun had set.
‘I finished all the important things today so I can come early tomorrow morning and finish the rest…’
Raven who had been unbuttoning her uniform one by one smiled bitterly and fastened her buttons again.
I was wondering if there was any point in changing my clothes since I was going to wear these clothes to work again tomorrow anyway.
Soon putting on only her officer’s coat she finished organizing her desk and checked her calendar one last time.
December 2 156
She still felt strange when she looked at her calendar.
I think it’s time for her to get better.
Still sometimes like this her body stiffens and her heart sinks.
Because she knows the loss she realizes it even more painfully.
She said that the short expedition she went through with him and his colleagues was so enjoyable and brilliant. It’s just that those days… can never come back.
‘It’s already been more than two years….’
A whopping two years and six months.
A few days would not be enough to tell in detail how much happened during that period.
But still let me put it briefly.
It was a really long time.
The relationship I was trying to connect somehow is torn apart.
So much so that a level 6 wizard from the Artemion school joined the royal army and grew into the vice-captain of a corps.
Rattling.
Raven walked to the window and opened the door wide.
The chilly winter wind quietly blew in.
Ssaaaaaa-
One by one she recalled the last images of her colleagues in her memory.
Barbarian female warrior Einar Pnellin.
Abman was usually unreliable but trustworthy when it mattered.
And even Misha.
‘It’s been more than half a year since I haven’t seen you all….’
Her most recent colleague was Abman.
Even that was half a year ago and the conversation we had wasn’t as friendly as before. We met by chance on the 6th floor talked about what we were up to and then parted ways awkwardly.
Well Erwen I saw it two months ago…
Now you can even call me a former colleague.
She only made brief eye contact and didn’t even say hello.
‘Still Mr. Avman and Mr. Einar seem to be doing well…’
Thinking of her former colleague she quietly closed her eyes.
It was because she suddenly remembered which finger was the most painful.
“Mr. Misha….”
Where is she and what is she doing by now?
Raven held out his fingertips to the open window. And as he caught the snowflakes that had begun to flutter in his palm he remembered his last conversation with Misha.
[There is something I must tell you…]
That day was about 2 years and 4 months ago now.
It was the end of that summer.

Intuition.
What explorers jokingly call the sixth sense.
Surprisingly this sense is very useful in life.
Even though there is no clear information or basis it is a very common story in this industry that you just felt bad and bent down and a toenail passed over you.
Exciting-!
However this is not an innate sense.
The more experience you have and the higher your intelligence the more likely your intuition will be correct. Intuition is the result of combining information accumulated like grains of sand in the unconscious.
It’s just difficult to explain why we reached that result.
The basis for this clearly exists in the unconscious.
“What do you mean to say…?”
Raven asked back trying to ignore the ominous feeling.
Nothing has been confirmed yet.
It’s not uncommon for intuition to simply turn into an error in judgment.
No if we are to be honest it is much rarer for something to fit properly.
but….
“Yes… I have something to say… No I have something….”
“That way of speaking….”
“Oh this…? I’m going to try changing it. “It can’t be like that forever…”
“Oh… really? Well thought out. Is it good? “I will support you too.”
From a two-dimensional perspective Missha’s change was positive.
Raven also knows a little bit about Misha’s situation.
Did she ever hurt her tongue in the past? She was told that even though her wounds healed over time she suffered from mental problems.
Yes that’s definitely true…
Exciting-!
Why is her heart beating harder?
For no reason it becomes more ominous.
“…So what do you want to say?”
“That’s actually….”
Misha trailed off and avoided her gaze but soon as if she had made up her mind she opened her mouth with difficulty.
“I was trying to leave the team.”
Declaration of withdrawal.
However Raven did not inquire about the reason.
It wasn’t such a surprising story to begin with.
“okay….”
To be honest I thought it would end up like this.
No matter who we bring in we won’t be able to fill the void left by the barbarian. The exploration of the labyrinth would be suspended indefinitely and it was a natural progression for the team to eventually disband.
but….
“all right. “If you decided that it was better it wouldn’t be my problem to say one way or another.”
It’s probably a good thing that the team is disbanded.
What is important is our relationship.
Just because we don’t enter the labyrinth together doesn’t mean our relationship ends here.
“So what do you plan to do from now on?”
“First I will return to my family.”
“Ah even if you just want to take a break without a plan I agree—”
“And you will enter the labyrinth. No… I’m going in.”
“……yes?”
Raven couldn’t understand at all.
You said you were leaving the team and then entered the labyrinth?
The back of my head feels tingly.
“A labyrinth? With whom? “Have you already found a new team?”
Raven urgently asked questions feeling an inexplicable sense of betrayal.
However Misha did not answer.
She simply changed the topic in a somewhat bitter voice.
“What I have to say more than that is that this is not the end….”
At those words Raven felt the ominous feeling that had barely calmed down intensify.
Is that why?
Her voice which had been rising with excitement calmed down.
“…try it.”
Perhaps because her mind was cold her voice came out somewhat chilly.
Misha averted his gaze and fixed it on her floor.
And she said in a really quiet voice.
“You know soon… rumors will start going around that Bjorn is an evil spirit…”
“…yes?”
“ah! Because it’s just a rumor! No matter what anyone says never believe it! “I just want to tell you that story…”
What on earth are you talking about Misha?
Have you gone crazy because of Mr. Yandel’s death?
I wondered if the conversation we were having now was a normal conversation but on the other hand I also thought about this.
It was a hunch.
The sixth sense that reaches the truth before rational thinking.
“I guess Misha is trying to spread such rumors from now on. “I don’t know why.”
As if to answer Misha took a step back from her.
“I guess that’s why you came to tell me in advance. “You wouldn’t want us to remember Mr. Yandel as an evil spirit.”
Raven took a step forward.
“But.”
She had already realized it.
“You said there would be a rumor that Mr. Yandel is an evil spirit.”
What is the identity of this ominous feeling that has been gnawing at my body since a while ago?
“That’s… not just a rumor?”
Soon Raven grabbed Misha’s wrist and asked.
He had made a misjudgment unlike her.
Because there is no way a wizard could stop a physical explorer with force.
“…Tsk!”
Misha shook off her hand turned around and ran away and the next day rumors spread throughout the city that Bjorn Yandel was an evil spirit.
and….
“Where on earth has this person disappeared….”
That was Misha’s last appearance.
