    Episode 28: Crack (2)

    Daria Wittember di Tercia.

An explorer of five years she was currently wandering around the crystal cave on the first floor.

With her younger brother who was only young in her eyes.

    “Erwen used the spirit again.”

“Oh sis that’s too difficult to do with just a dagger….”

“I told you. “You must be able to protect yourself even in situations where you don’t have a bow or can’t use spirits.”

    “No I understand that but….”

“If she just keeps moving around and practicing she’ll get better.”

Tercia took Erwen around the first floor and harshly made her practice.

It was all for her little brother.

And her younger brother didn’t know that either.

But she could see at a glance that the longer it went on the more exhausted she became.

She said “Oh you said it’s good to specialize in what you’re best at….”

    “…what?”

“Believing in her team and doing the best she can at what she does. “That was the basics of being an explorer… yo.”

Tersia who had been listening blankly was speechless.

Because it’s such a straightforward statement.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the world just worked like that?

“Comrade Erwen is just her colleague. “Don’t attach too much value to it.”

    Tercia has experienced many teams.

Starting from the 6th floor exploration team that she was a member of not long ago to the hunting team that only targets certain profitable monsters and the running team that targets portal opening achievements.

She went around with a lot of people and experienced a lot of things. Among them there were many things she did not want to tell Erwen.

    Her companions cannot be trusted.

You wouldn’t know if it was a family that was related by blood.

    “okay….”

Erwen didn’t say anything back to Tercia’s stern expression.

So time passed and it was day 4.

Erwen who walked around the first floor clockwise had grown to the point where she could kill all the monsters with just a dagger.

In the process he naturally rose in level.

“Hey sister? I got a promotion but can’t I just go to the second floor now? “He must be making a lot of money on the second floor by now…”

Tersia smiled as if it was cute.

What’s the big deal about catching a few more monsters on the second floor?

“Erwen the rift will open soon.”

    Crack.

A place where even mid-level adventurers with several years of experience cannot enter even once unless they are lucky.

    Erwen tilted her head.

“How does your sister know that?”

“The last time a crack opened on the first floor was eight months ago.”

Tersia kindly explained things one by one as if she were dealing with her younger sibling.

Today is the 4th day so there is a statistical reason why the crack will inevitably open within the next 3 days.

    “I see… You didn’t say that.”

    Yes that will happen.

Erwen tried to sing the old man song every time but he was still a beginner after all.

By now you’re probably going through trial and error by going up the floors a move that would be nothing short of inefficient from an experienced person’s point of view.

“Erwen don’t be impatient and trust her sister. “Even after just one year there will be a huge gap between you and that barbarian.”

Sometimes the slow way is the fastest way.

“Ugh… then I can help you then!”

    “Yes go ahead.”

Tersia nodded her head as if she was amazed.

There is no way to know whether the barbarian will be alive by then and even if he is wouldn’t it be okay to stop him then?

She hoped that at least her younger brother would remain pure.

That was when she thought to herself

    Dedddddddddd!

Her labyrinth began to shake as if there had been an earthquake.

A phenomenon that occurs when a crack opens.

    “Erwen!”

Tercia took Erwen’s hand and ran down the aisle at her full speed. And she soon found a portal shaking uneasily.

    It was a crack.

There are probably thousands of portals like this that have appeared throughout the first floor by now.

Now it is a race against time where every minute counts.

    Whoa!

Tercia flew into the portal with Erwen.

    But at that moment.

    Huh-

    The portal disappeared.

    dump.

Tersia soon crossed through the air and landed on the bare ground clicking her tongue in disappointment.

    “…You’re a step late.”

She might have succeeded in entering if she had just gotten her brother in quickly rather than going in at the same time.

    but….

“…There will be another chance next time.”

    I can’t help it.

After all what if her brother goes into the crack alone and ends up dying?

“Let’s go to the second floor Erwen.”

I’ll say it again sometimes the slow road is fast.

    ***

    Equivalent exchange.

    I really like this word.

But unfortunately the world does not run by this law.

Just looking at the psychopathic bitch I met it’s like that.

I barely survived but I gained nothing.

‘No rather I was kicked out of the Land of the Dead and wasted time.’

    But this time is different.

This time I made the choice.

Therefore there will definitely be a price to pay.

    Well maybe.

    thud.

As I looked at the remaining two people who were matched as team members a human man and a woman I became more nervous.

The man who landed with a heavy sound had no special features…

    The woman was different.

    widely.

The woman slowly fell and landed softly as if defying the effects of gravity.

At this sight the talkative dwarf opened his mouth wide and could not hide his surprise.

    I was the same way.

“I never thought I’d see a wizard here.”

    wizard.

The strongest job in [Dungeon & Stone] in name and reality where you are treated well wherever you go just because of your status.

“Is the wizard Bjorn that great? “The librarian was also a wizard!”

The female wizard frowned in displeasure at Einar’s question.

I opened my mouth quickly before I looked hateful.

“The librarian is a level 9 wizard.”

    “Is it something else?”

    different.

    A lot of that too.

If they are upper-class workers working in places such as guilds or public institutions this woman can be said to be a true magician.

The proof is that she entered the labyrinth.

Because the wizard is an important resource in Lafdonia she cannot enter the labyrinth unless she can prove her skills.

    “I see!”

“Yes that’s right. “For a barbarian you have extensive knowledge.”

As I explained clearly and at her level the female wizard joined the conversation in a calm voice.

The satisfied smile on her lips made me feel like I knew what kind of personality she had.

“hello. My name is Arua Raven a level 6 wizard. This person here is a professional mover I hired. Her name was…what was it?”

    “It’s Tarzin. “Raven.”

Now I see that there are two people in one group.

    Anyway it wasn’t quite bad.

Basically there is no feeling of looking down on people but among wizards this is a noble person.

There were a lot of additional modification classes in the game.

“Can I ask you all to introduce yourself?”

“Hikurod Murad. It may be a short journey but please take care of me. “Miss Raven.”

“Mr. Murad how many years are you apart?”

    “It’s been three years.”

    3rd year explorer….

Somehow the color of each piece of equipment was nice.

“This is Bjorn son of Yandel.”

After briefly revealing my name I asked directly.

“No matter how you look at it there doesn’t seem to be any reason to be active on the first floor. How did you get into the rift?”

Most of the explorers working on the first floor are without proper equipment.

So I expected that I would have to work really hard to clear the crack.

But a 3rd year dwarf and a 6th grade wizard?

At this point it’s not only impossible to like it but there are many suspicious aspects to it being a coincidence.

“I can’t explain the details but I heard that a crack opens in this cycle.”

    “Me too.”

Is this really kicking down a ladder?

As if they had promised Raven and the dwarf were silent about the method.

Of course it didn’t mean much.

Now I have an idea as to how it was inferred.

“This is Ainar the second daughter of Pnelin.”

Soon after everyone had finished speaking Raven took the lead in the conversation.

“The loot will be divided according to the number of people excluding Mr. Tarjin. Instead can everyone please follow my instructions?”

“There is no other opinion. “It’s common sense to follow the wizard’s words in the labyrinth.”

    “Thank you for saying that.”

When the dwarf expressed his approval first Raven’s eyes turned to the two of us.

The time to worry wasn’t long.

As long as there was a wizard in the team there was nothing good about standing out.

It was none other than the wizards who first recognized the existence of ‘evil spirits’ and persuaded the royal family to announce them as objects of extermination.

    Siva….

Clearing is no longer a problem.

    “I agree too.”

Let’s just go half and half.

Earlier I was impressed that he had extensive knowledge for a barbarian but I don’t know when that look could turn into suspicion.

    “I refuse.”

    huh?

Einar’s stubborn voice attracted people’s attention.

“I don’t know what’s so great about being a wizard. “I want Bjorn to lead us.”

No I agreed but why on earth are you doing that?

I want to keep my mouth shut right now but if I do that it will look even more suspicious.

    Soon the wizard asked cautiously.

“If you say Bjorn… you’re referring to this barbarian right?”

“That’s right. Bjorn is no ordinary barbarian!”

“You’re saying you’re not an ordinary barbarian?”

“Bjorn is a wiser warrior than anyone else. “He reads books at the library six hours a day every day.”

“Hmm you are definitely an unusual person.”

“It’s not something special it’s something great! “I’ve never seen a barbarian as smart as Bjorn!”

    Siva….

    Please stop…

    ***

Everyone looked at me strangely when I heard Einar’s high praise but it ended up being just an incident.

It seemed like he thought it was a barbarian attack.

    At least not yet.

“But since it is a majority vote there is nothing we can do right? Hahaha!”

“What is majority rule that there is nothing we can do about it?”

    “uh….”

Sensing that he was about to fight again I calmed Einar down.

But Einar was so upset that he grinned and made a disapproving expression.

“but! “Bjorn aren’t you greater than that wizard!”

Could it be that my previous comment about ‘for a barbarian’ offended her?

I don’t know about her but it’s a good thing she made me ‘swear’ in advance.

If it weren’t for her she might have found out everything including the dimensional instability and the fact that I was the one who opened the rift.

“I am blessed to have her wife’s respect. I envy you Barbarian! Hahaha!”

“Ah a wife! “I’m not like that!”

“Hahaha! “You don’t have to be embarrassed!”

“profit! “It’s not something to be ashamed of!!”

Anyway thanks to the talkative dwarf Einar’s aggro was drawn to another place.

I was relieved and looked at Raven’s expression.

Contrary to what I had worried she did not show any particular interest in me.

“It’s a barrier that you can’t go outside of. That’s interesting. “It seems like the dimension has been cut off so how can we see the other side with our own eyes?”

Should I call him a wizard-like zeal for learning?

Watching him mutter to himself as he writes things down in his notebook he seems curious about the principle of this barrier that prevents him from leaving the map…

I hope that attention doesn’t come to me until the moment we break up.

“How about everyone stop and leave quickly? “There’s a lot of research that needs to be done to obtain samples.”

“You mean departure? “We still only know each other’s names…”

The dwarf tilted his head at the words of Raven who was in charge of command.

I also felt the same way.

A team must know what each other’s abilities are and what they can do.

No matter how hastily a team is assembled it is fundamental to start by revealing the core essence.

However Raven clearly stated that this was an unnecessary action.

“Is there really a reason to do that? “The monsters that come out of the Bloody Citadel are all level 7 or lower.”

    A voice exuding absolute confidence.

The dwarf also showed a slight discomfort but did not say it out loud.

Before she said another word of her own.

“Oh I didn’t say that. I will keep the loot from the Guardian separately. “There is something to study separately.”

What kind of conscienceless bitch is this?

Ha somehow he seemed fine for a wizard.

    ‘Shit.’

    Sure enough.

Things are about to go crazy again.
