Surviving the Game as a Barbarian – 211
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 211: Leader (4)
“mister!!!!”
Erwen jumped out from the group of explorers and hugged her with one arm.
“thank god! “I was so worried!!”
Huh she never thought she would meet him here.
Of course I’m not saying it’s bad.
I relaxed a little and checked my surroundings.
I looked and saw that her older sister Daria was next to me.
She said ‘No matter how you look at it we are not all members of the same clan….’
At first I wondered if it was the clan that Erwen was said to have joined as a mercenary.
But after looking at it that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Most people wear clan marks but not all. Also each clan mark is different.
So how on earth is this group formed?
“Miss Erwen who is this?”
A human woman estimated to be in her early thirties lowered her weapon and asked and then Erwen also released her arms and turned his back to her.
“Don’t worry. This is someone I know! Oh and with my sister too! “Isn’t that right sister?”
“…that’s right. “The identity is clear so you don’t have to worry about it being Noark’s side.”
“It’s good news to hear.”
After hearing Daria’s words the woman ordered her guarded explorers to lower their weapons.
Hmm is this woman the general manager here?
“nice to meet you. “I’m Bersil Gowland vice-captain of the Larrere Clan.”
“This is Bjorn son of Yandel.”
“Little Vulcan…?”
I shrugged her shoulders and the woman looked at me with some kind of pleasure in her eyes.
“This is a really great person coming.”
A compliment that naturally elevates me.

If she were an ordinary barbarian she would have raised her shoulders and swaggered.
Is this the way a leader communicates?
“It’s going to be amazing. “I think that’s what I should say.”
I answered briefly and stared at the woman.
What I just said wasn’t just a polite thing it was true.
“I know that the Lalere Clan is a pretty big clan.”
Although it was not a top 10 clan it was a clan that could be confidently said to be a large clan.
What is unique is that 80% of the clan members are women.
“He’s the vice-captain there….”
I met a significant figure in an unexpected place.
However I had no intention of having a friendly game.
“So what are you guys doing here?”
“Let me explain.”
Bersil the vice-captain of the Larere Clan briefly explained the situation here as soon as the statement was finished.
When I heard it it seemed like they were in a similar situation to us.
As soon as they entered the labyrinth they quickly moved to go to the second floor.
and….
“That incident happened.”
To assess the situation Bersil led his team back to the starting point.
However the place was already no different from chaos.
So she began to gather her forces with her makeshift means.
“The people gathered here are all people I met nearby. “The identity is clear.”
“Are you sure?”
“I don’t know them all but we are all friends across a bridge. Unfortunately we have completely ruled out cases where this method cannot be used so you can rest assured.”
Yes they used that method because they didn’t trust the dog tags.
Just like Erwen vouched for me.
They were a group that guaranteed each other and formed a minimum level of trust.
“Our goal is simple.”
Bersil who explained the group then presented the goals the group wants to pursue.
“Together together to protect us. Ultimately breaking through the enemy and reaching the safe zone.”
“By safe zone do you mean the dark zone in the center?”
“Yes it must be quick to hear that you know. Mr. Yandel would you like to join us?”
Is it because he became the vice-captain of a popular clan?
It definitely feels like he’s used to dealing with people just from the way he speaks.
His personality also seems quite cautious.
‘If you become vice-captain your skills will be considerable.’
After a short thought I agreed to Bersil’s recruitment offer.

“Good please take care of me from now on.”
In a chaotic situation where we don’t know how the day will end.
I have a nest to stay in for a while.
***
“There is no need to stand guard so please rest for a while. “We’ll be leaving soon. I’ll tell you then.”
I decided to be grateful for Versil’s consideration.
Because I was already desperate for a break.
Fog that obscures vision.
Battle with people not monsters.
A chaotic situation that is difficult to predict even an inch ahead.
Physical fatigue is not only fatigue but mental stress is enormous.
“Let’s come here and rest.”
The unfamiliar explorers seemed awkward so they led the stiff-minded team members to an empty seat and sat down.
And just relax.
“But it went really well. “After meeting people like this there’s no way you can just die…”
Did you feel relaxed later on?
At first my colleagues who were busy being wary of their surroundings looked relieved and enjoyed a short break.
It was then.
“You thought well uncle. That vice-captain over there is really strong. “It’s the same for everyone else.”
While we were talking Erwen who had been next to her older sister naturally came over and sat down next to me.
“Anyway I guess we are really meant to be. I was just thinking that I wanted to see you. But it really appeared! Hehehe.”
“Tsk.”
Even Einar and Misha who usually had a negative view of Erwen only frowned slightly and did not challenge her first for no reason.
They know it too.
In a situation like this how foolish it is to create trouble with personal emotions.
“But how do you two know each other? “I heard that fairies and barbarians don’t get along.”
Raven who was meeting her for the first time showed curiosity and joined the conversation.
“Oh I didn’t introduce myself. I am-.”
“i know! I often heard this from you. “A really great wizard has joined the team…”
“…Did Mr. Yandel really say that?”
Well not that much…
Erwen also decided to think that she was living a social life and just watched without saying anything.
“My name is Erwen Fornacci di Tercia. “You are Arua Raven right?”
“What are you doing? “Just call me Raven.”
“Then please just call me Erwen.”
After finishing her full statement in her friendly atmosphere Erwen told the story of our meeting as if she were bragging.
The bear with his back against the wall was also listening intently pretending not to be curious about the relationship between him and me.
“The first time I drank the return liquor with you was this pretty fairy… Yandel the more I look at you the more feminine you become.”
What about this guy?
“You said Mr. Urikfried right? Hehe thank you for watching!”
“…Call me Abman.”
“Yes Mr. Abman!”
Erwen showed off her youngest personality and instantly made friends with her group.
She was honestly quite impressive.
“But how do you use this crossbow? “I don’t think an average person would be able to pull it because of the tension.”
“Oh this? It’s not that great. Would you like to give it a try?”
“Is that okay? Ugh… Wow! “It’s completely different from my bow.”
“Hehe since I used the tendons of a troll it has to be that way.”
Has he had a good social life this far?
Doing something funny in front of your mother-in-law.
‘Oh maybe that’s not wrong.’
Come to think of it she said she was going to create a clan.
Of course Raven and Uncle Bear are the top candidates for recruitment.
Since they might one day belong to the same clan they probably decided that they needed to look good in advance.
Well the other two people seemed to hate me.
“Uragburak. Lower your mouth. “Is this a situation to laugh at?”
“…uh?”
Mr. Bear who had been hit by Ainar for the first time in his life froze in a daze.
However did she realize the situation too late?
Mr. Bear spit out something difficult to understand as if making excuses.
“iced coffee! “Of course I love cats.”
“yes? You almost suspected it! So just come here and take a look at my great sword. “It’s not even fun to talk about bows!”
“Uh… isn’t it fun?”
“Of course!!”
Einar pulls Mr. Bear away as if kidnapping him and makes him sit next to him.
It was a time when such a ridiculous thing happened.
“Erwen.”
“Oh sister.”
Daria who had been watching us closely from a distance approached us.
“I’m sorry but I have something to say for a moment.”
“Uh with you?”
“huh.”
When he said he had something to say to me he tried to get up but Daria stopped him.
“There is no need to rest.”
“okay? If that’s the case. “What are you trying to say?”
In response to my question Daria stood awkwardly and stared at me. For some reason he seemed uncomfortable dealing with me.
I soon found out why.
“You’re level 5… I heard you became an explorer?”
As far as I know Daria was also a level 5 explorer and that hasn’t changed even now.
On the other hand what about me?
At the time I was a level 9 beginner and grew into a level 5 explorer leading a team in just one year.
So it’s bound to be awkward.
“however? “Is that all you’re trying to say?”
“…I have a suggestion.”
“Try it.”
“How about you come with us for a while?”
“A little more detail.”
Daria continued speaking in a completely public voice.
A total of 7 teams including us came together for one purpose but in the end we’re just strangers?
In fact it is said that most teams stick together with teams they are close to.
“If you agree our two teams’ formations will be close together when we move. “So that when something happens we can join forces right away.”
Wherever people gather factions are bound to arise.
Daria was offering me an alliance.
“Not a bad offer.”
The offer itself was quite attractive.
Yes if only one condition is met.
“But did you get permission from your leader?”
Daria is a member of the Blue Wall Clan Team 4 as a mercenary.
Of course the team leader is one of the clan’s executives.
Have we really finished talking?
“That man… don’t worry. Because I can persuade. So what is the answer?”
“good night.”
“Okay then I’ll come back later. Erwen let’s go back together first.”
“Ugh….”
Afterwards Daria led his brother back to where the team was and I watched.
For some reason I felt a strange feeling.
When I first met him I treated him like a childish barbarian. I was treated like a fool around his younger brother.
But I never thought I would receive an offer like that first.
“I will quickly finish my personal maintenance and then we will leave.”
After resting for a few more minutes a notice of departure came from Bersil. Oh by the way we also told them the formation our team should stand in when moving and it was the third position from the front.
Right behind them was the team that Erwen belonged to.
‘I feel like something has happened to me.’
The structure is such that each team follows suit as if playing a train game.
Of course there are no complaints here.
Due to the nature of the Crystal Cave it was natural for the formation to move in a line when moving and it was Versil’s team which was the most powerful that cleared the way at the forefront.
but….
“I heard from Daria and Erwen. They call it Little Vulcan right? “Please take care of me.”
“Okay I’ll leave the rest to you.”
Why are we ahead of them?
Is this really a coincidence?
‘That can’t be possible.’
It may be similar to the third or fourth from the front but it is a natural fact that the front is more dangerous.
It’s a minor detail but it’s true that we suffered a loss.
Raven seemed to think so too.
“Look this feels a bit bad.”
“huh? What part do you mean?”
“Jinhyung. It can’t continue like this right? “I think it would be better to alternate between going forward and back.”
In response to Raven’s objection the leader of the Erwene team short for short gave a friendly smile.
“Haha aren’t there a lot of ranged types on our side and a lot of close range types on your side? “It’s just a reasonable arrangement.”
“that-.”
“In the first place weren’t we located in the safest center? “Who do you think that’s thanks to?”
A sharp chin cuts off Raven’s words and firmly draws a line.
Even Raven a rationalist couldn’t say anything.
“….”
If it was really his credit to get this position he probably thought it was fair for us who had done nothing to stand in front.
Because we can actually say that we benefited from it.
but….
‘A single team leader from a small or medium-sized clan can influence the vice-leader of a large clan?’
Even just hearing about cancer sounds like bullshit.
We need to watch a little more.
“Okay let’s end the conversation here and go. “It looks like the front has already started.”
I urge you to do so.
I put my doubts aside and moved forward.
plod trudge.
And so the real journey began.
***
First of all the journey itself was smooth.
To the point where I thought it was just luck that I ran into them by chance and that Erwen was there to vouch for my identity.
“Vice-captain! “I’m a warlock!!”
“Take time off. “I will take care of it soon.”
The combat power of the team that the vice-captain of a large clan belonged to was truly remarkable.
‘It was a clan that mainly operates on the 7th floor.’
With them clearing the way from the front it was very convenient for us who followed behind.
‘Is this what it feels like to ride a bus?’
In fact if you exclude a few surprise attacks on side roads the number of times he wielded a mace can be counted on one hand.
The journey continued like that for about an hour.
“I have good news and bad news.”
Vice-captain Bersil stopped moving and spoke to us.
“The good news is that we’re almost there. “You can enter the dark zone in 20 minutes by running.”
Yes I knew this too.
“What’s the bad news?”
In response to an explorer’s question Bersil muttered as if he had no personal feelings.
“We can’t all go together.”
A cold silence began to cover the cave.
