Surviving the Game as a Barbarian – 159
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 159: Negotiation (1)
Evening of the 17th.
All members of the newly created team held a meeting.
For reference the meeting place is a 3-story bar that opened recently. Originally we were going to meet at Uncle Bear’s store but Uncle Bear refused.
And that too with a single knife.
[Hmm it’s not a good place to talk about secrets in our store.]
[It’s okay. Anyway this time we will mainly talk about distribution rather than exploration plans.]
[There is a place that only I know so let’s go there.]
I was wondering if it would at least increase sales.
Is it the habit of a married man to say no even though he is disgusted?
This guy is really funny too.
“I’m the last one?”
Afterwards Raven arrived and everyone gathered together.
“There’s nothing to be sorry about so sit down.”
“I came on time why am I sorry?”
Oh by the way…
Why are you so harsh today? Oh is it because of suppressing the momentum? First of all it’s a place to meet strangers right?
‘He’s really rude in places like this.’
It occurred to me that maybe I was on time on purpose but I never said it out loud.
Hasn’t it been stamped yet?
“Then let’s introduce each other briefly.”
Afterwards we ordered a few dishes and drinks and took some time to relax.
It started with Einar.
“Einarda the second daughter of Pnelin! Nice to meet you!”
“Hey Einar? I think it’s too short…”
“Should I do more…? sorry. “It’s my first time in a place like this…”

Child Nar scratches his head and feels embarrassed when Misha who has become close to him over the past few days criticizes her.
However no one pointed out that appearance to her.
That’s because she knows everyone on her child-carrying team.
Raven and I shared the Bloody Castle and Mr. Bear visited the store a few days ago and made a face at her.
“Mr. Einar… you are really the same as ever.”
“Thank you for the compliment. “It seems like you the wizard are still the same.”
“….”
Anyway in the end I made the introduction on Einar’s behalf. She asks what level of explorer he is what role he will play on the team etc.
“So there are two prosecutors?”
When my briefing was over Mr. Bear made a short comment and I was about to respond.
Einar interjected as if pointing out her error.
“Urak Burak I am not a swordsman but a warrior.”
“My name is Urikfrit… or as I said then can you please call me Abman?”
“…I will try my best. “Because pronunciation is difficult.”
“Pronunciation is difficult?”
“But is there a problem?”
Mr. Bear seemed to have a lot to say but she ended the conversation by just sighing.
It seems she has slowly learned how to communicate with barbarians.
It’s best not to talk.
“This is my first meeting with you. I heard a lot about it from Bjorn. Abman Urikfried.”
“This is Arua Raven. “You are a guide right?”
“Oh I’m Misha Karlstein.”
Afterwards the remaining three people exchanged greetings and talked about their respective roles in a professional manner.
With this half of the first meeting is over.
The food we ordered came out just in time so we continued our conversation over a meal with drinks.
“This place is pretty clean and the food is delicious.”
“If only my wife had cooked this much…”
“Is Mr. Urikfried married?”
“Oh I didn’t say that. “It’s been three years now.”
“Bjorn this is called squid. Do you want to try it? “The texture is very unique.”
The overall conversation atmosphere was friendly.
The meal was almost over until the topic of the labyrinth came up.
“Anyway let’s get to the point now shall we?”
“Yeah that would be a good idea. How will you distribute Bjorn’s loot?”
When the money issue surfaced everyone looked at them differently.
To be exact except for Einar.
“Shouldn’t we just take whatever Bjorn gives us?”

“I guess so Einar. But that’s not what we are.”
Mr. Bear is a wizard who is quick at calculating and has a family to protect.
Both were good people in private but when the time came they opened their mouths to blatantly defend their rights.
“Even if it’s true for Misha I think there’s a problem with Einar receiving the same rate. “Aren’t you the least behind among us?”
“Urak Burak…! Are you looking at me like that? I believed you!!! “I considered you a valuable colleague—!!!”
“Be quiet. Bjorn will take care of it. huh? “Aren’t you nice?”
“Ugh…!”
Einar trembled at the sense of betrayal and fortunately Misha who was next to her covered her mouth in time to silence her.
However being so sad made it difficult for even Mr. Bear to open his mouth.
“Hmm….”
Mr. Bear cleared his throat and averted his gaze.
And at that time Raven naturally took over the baton and began to appeal.
“I don’t really care whether it’s Mr. Einar or Mr. Karlstein. “I’m a wizard after all right?”
“…Tell me.”
“If I have you I can put purified water in test tubes and sell it. “I have also learned ‘higher-order distortion’ so even if by-products are the goal I will be able to obtain them much more easily.”
“Do you mean to ask for an increase in distribution?”
“yes. “I should get 30%.”
It’s tough from the start.
Dwalki accepted the equal distribution with a smile.
“…30% is too much.”
“There are many. “They say all seniors get paid that much.”
Where are you going to catch a tiger?
The wizard is certainly treated well in the labyrinth.
Under the assumption that they are the same level as each other.
“Those seniors must have joined a team of a lower level than themselves.”
“Well are you saying I’m not?”
Raven is a level 6 wizard so he should be treated as a level 5 explorer.
Considering that Misha and I are in level 6 and Einar is in level 7 we are clearly of a higher level.
but….
“You will know that when you explore.”
I am confident.
Whatever the rating there will never be a structure in which we receive carry unilaterally.
“Isn’t that why you tried to join this team because you think so too?”
“Well that’s true.”
Surprisingly Raven easily admitted.
But was this all just a cornerstone for going to the next level?
“But it’s true that Mr. Karlstein and Mr. Einar are less important than the three of us right?”
“You will soon play a part.”
“yes. I think so too. It will play a part in a year… or at the earliest in a few months. But why should I suffer losses until then?”
Raven later suggested that we set the ratio again when two people could proudly claim their share and I accepted to some extent.
“The ratio is the same at 20%. Instead I will give you 40% of special loot obtained through magic.”
“great.”
Limited percentage bonus to magic loot evenly distributed.
So in the end Raven took care of the conditions that a wizard in a 5-person team usually receives.
For now one person is done.
Now all that was left was Mr. Bear.
“I will take 5% from Einar and give it to you.”
Actually considering that you are a leader giving 10% more is not enough but…
“Because we haven’t even done the first exploration yet. “I’m satisfied with that for now.”
Mr. Bear was easily convinced.
Actually it would be a bit embarrassing for me to confidently claim it.
Although he is a guide his search ability is zero.
“Then this matter is settled.”
In this way the final distribution ratio was determined.
Me 20%.
Missha 20%
Einar 15%
Raven 20% (40% special loot)
Uncle Bear 25%
Oh by the way this is limited to general loot.
It was agreed that what was obtained by killing the looters would be distributed equally.
‘It’s too bad I’m going to die.’
I think I understand why explorers are so hung up on promotions.
I need to get to level 5 quickly.
If all three of us had been level 5 they wouldn’t have had to talk about distribution.
‘…Well this is within the expected range.’
I took a sip of alcohol and erased my regret.
I even thought about the two of us being more greedy but we all kept the line.
If it had been another team instead of me being the leader I would have tried to take advantage much more blatantly.
‘For now the most important hurdle has been overcome.’
Now that the distribution fee negotiations are over the creation of the team is virtually confirmed. There will still be countless issues to discuss in the future.
“Right what about the team? When are you going to register the team?”
“I will do it tomorrow.”
“Then I can’t go. I thought this would be the case so I used a power of attorney. “Please go and do it without me.”
“…Sure.”
We had to discuss all kinds of issues together starting with simple administrative tasks.
“Are you going to collect the team’s public funds separately? Or do you just collect what you need at the time?”
“We will do it by collecting a certain amount every month.”
“How much?”
How much do you spend on the team’s public funds?
If public funds are insufficient how will they be covered?
Do you use the current distribution fee when entering a crack or discovering a mysterious treasure in a labyrinth?
Whether or not you acknowledge what you have achieved through your personal abilities.
Are there incentives etc. etc.?
‘I didn’t do it this way when Team Banpoon was in charge…’
When I came to my senses it was just me and Raven having a hard conversation.
Drurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Einar dozed off with her neck bent.
Mr. Bear was drinking alone as if he was enjoying the freedom she had gained after a long time while Misha opened her notebook and scribbled with her pen.
It’s not like I’m taking notes or anything…
It’s simply a hobby. Have you ever heard that your hands keep getting itchy because you can’t cook?
A few days ago she started drawing.
“…What did you draw?”
“Oh it’s nothing.”
“Oc?”
“Fuhuhuu!! Yes per orc. Oak. “Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.”
It was an unpleasant reaction but before I could elaborate Raven called me.
“Hey Mr. Yandel is still talking….”
Oh I did.
After using her brain for a good few hours she has trouble concentrating. I don’t know if it’s an important topic but it’s even more so since I’m deciding on so many miscellaneous things.
Soon I checked my watch and opened my mouth.
“Raven let’s just stop here for today.”
“yes? “But there are still things left to sort out.”
“…organize?”
“Things to consider before forming a team. “I organized it before I came.”
When asked how many items were left Raven replied that there were thirty-one items left.
‘…What you’ve done so far isn’t even half of what you’ve done?’
Thinking about the remaining topics I was already bored to the point where I wanted to die but given my personality it would be helpful if I did them at least a little.
“But it was too late. “We’ll do the rest when we meet next time.”
“is it so.”
I made an appointment two days later and left.
For some reason my body and mind were exhausted.
Actually I thought I would have a similar personality type to wizards.
‘…I’ll know for sure after seeing the real thing.’
I’m glad I chose Barbarian.
***
The morning after the first meeting.
The four of us got together and visited the Explorer’s Guild.
And I officially completed team registration by submitting the power of attorney I received yesterday.
“The team name is Bjorn. “Isn’t that too insincere?”
Einar muttered dissatisfiedly but I just did what was customary.
Team Banpuni’s official name was just ‘Murad’.
Originally most people just used the leader’s last name or first name.
“You can change it later if you think of something suitable so don’t be too disappointed.”
“Ho can I think about it too?”
“Nothing can’t be done.”
“Really! “I will think hard about it!!”
Even so I’m sure I’ll forget it even happened in a few hours…
Even if not it doesn’t matter.
The team name isn’t important.
“Abman what are you going to do?”
“We have to go back to the store. “Because her wife is waiting.”
“I see.”
As soon as the team creation was over Mr. Bear left and we had a quick meal outside and returned to the hotel.
Well all three live here now.
I am number 201 and Einar is number 202. Room 207 is right across from Missha.
“Oh Bjorn. “Is there something in your mailbox?”
“mail?”
After listening to Misha’s words I checked inside and found a letter inside.
A letter bearing the seal of the Leatlas Church.
‘Could it be that you have an appointment with the Yongin people?’
I quickly went into the room and checked the contents.
But what is this again?
[He will call you.]
When I opened it there was only one sentence written on it.
The sender’s qualification ‘2nd Holy Knight Commander Paal Krovitz’ is longer than the content.
‘what?’
The letter from the car that was tilting its head burst into flames and instantly turned to ashes. I am grateful that you paid attention to security as I asked but…
Isn’t this why it’s difficult for me to understand?
“….”
First I sat down on the bed and gathered my thoughts.
I had a rough guess as to who the ‘he’ Paal Krovitz was talking about was. You’re probably referring to the Great Ancient Dragon the leader of the Dragon Race.
However there is one thing I don’t understand at all.
‘Are you going to call me?’
It would have been easier to understand if I had just written down the meeting time and place. I was the one who requested that the appointment be arranged as secretly as possible.
‘How on earth do you call me that? Are you saying you want to come back and make an appointment?’
It was a time when I was lying down on the bed thinking about that.
A blue magic circle was drawn on the wooden floor.
“huh?”
Without any time to judge what this was the magic circle emitted a brilliant light.
And when I came to my senses.
‘It’s not some kind of summoning from another world.’
I was in an unfamiliar space.
The place is a building reminiscent of a Greek temple supported by huge pillars.
‘It’s the dragon temple.’
I quickly summarized the current situation.
‘Is this an idiom related to spatial movement? ‘Did the letter serve as a medium?’
The situation was roughly understood.
It wasn’t bad.
This way it will be easier to maintain security.
“I’m not surprised.”
Soon I looked straight ahead.
Scales protruding from the skin and eyes reminiscent of reptiles.
A man with all the characteristics of a dragon was sitting on her throne looking down at me. For reference the area behind the throne was surrounded by fog and dozens of eye lights were shining beyond it.
Are they all Yongin?
So how many people did you invite?
‘…and those eyes.’
It conveys a different kind of pressure than living.
Natural enemy. In other words it feels like I’m facing another species that I can never defeat.
It is ‘Dragon Fear’.
If you are a Yongin it is equipped passively.
‘Use that on me….’
I smiled bitterly.
Well I think I know what their intentions are.
“Do you know? You are not the first barbarian to visit here. but….”
“….”
“If I return alive you will be the first.”
It is a kind of suppression of momentum.
Due to the nature of their species they would not take the dragon slayer sword from their benefactor without fair compensation but they probably judged it necessary to discourage them.
Because I a barbarian may make some unreasonable demands.
“….”
Dragon Fear became even stronger and I broke into a cold sweat.
But so what?
Even with a little sweat my hair couldn’t grow without turning white.
‘…Why do people here like to fight so much?’
Thanks to this it became clear what I needed to do right away.
I never dreamed that I would end up doing this before I could even say my name…
It would be better to let us know sooner rather than later to save time.
Whether it’s suppressing the steamer using Dragon Fear or something else.
“Behel—laaaaa!!”
It’s all in vain.
