Surviving the Game as a Barbarian – 133
by Jessie@AFNCC
Episode 133: Team play (3)
The 4-story Tower in the Sky is a stage-type structure.
When you complete the trial a door opens and you select one of the three stairs to head to the upper stage.
For reference there were a total of four types of stairs.
Courage Wisdom Patience and Destiny.
Until now we have never taken the stairs of fate.
First of all the appearance rate was less than 5% compared to other stairs…
Because there are too many variables in the Stairway of Destiny.
There was no need to choose.
Until all three doors turn out to be fate.
“Hmm can’t I just go in with anything? Nothing happened before. “It was just a normal monster appearing and that was the end.”
Of course fate is not necessarily dangerous.
As Misha just said most people go through trials of courage wisdom and perseverance even if they choose fate.
but….
“I guess Miss Misha was lucky. “They say it’s random what kind of trials you will encounter when you read a book.”
The problem is that there is a 20% chance that you will experience a different type of ordeal rather than the three types of stairs.
There were a total of 32 types in the game.
You go back to the first floor a level 5 monster appears you suddenly get locked in a secret room etc.
‘It was extremely difficult and the rewards were limited and there were a lot of things that were outright screwed over.’
So if the purpose was to get some special rewards or if you came to hunt fate was an ordeal that you had to pass at all costs.
Well things are a little different now.
That was the time when I was organizing my thoughts.
“Bjorn why are you still?”
While discussing what to do next team members asked me for my opinion.
“First of all we agreed that it would be better to go anywhere. “Isn’t it a bit of a shame to waste the remaining time like this?”
I nodded in agreement.

“That’s right.”
The second half of the 4th floor.
At the current hunting speed up to 300000 stones can be mined in four days.
On a per capita basis not before dividing by five.
Since most of the time was spent traveling after entering the labyrinth each day spent here is directly related to the total income.
Yes it was natural to think that way.
‘There’s no way they know what this means.’
On the 4th floor three Stairs of Destiny never appear at the same time.
If it pops up it means only one thing.
That you have reached a special stage.
So it is now possible to enter three types of hidden fields.
‘…is the probability 1 in 3?’
I looked at the three doors and wondered which one to choose.
And along the way I realized something and laughed.
“Misha.”
“huh?”
“You choose where to go.”
It is clear that if I choose it will either work or not.
***
Misha looks at the rest of the team as if asking her opinion.
However all three just made a gesture of shrugging Misha’s shoulders as if they believed in her choice.
“Oh this is burdensome….”
Finally Misha who was sighing glared at me and she approached one of the open doors. The door located in front of the stairs we climbed up.
“I’ll tell you in advance if a strange monster suddenly appears I won’t know?”
The dwarf chuckled as Misha laid out her insurance policy.
“Hahaha what does that mean? Are you trying to avoid responsibility?”
“…what? “You crazy dwarf!”
“Hey Hikuro stop it. Miss Misha is not in trouble….”
Team Banpoon’s bickering pattern repeats three times a day.
He sighed and looked to the side then made eye contact with Rotmiller and smiled awkwardly as usual.
“Now how about we all stop and go?”
As Rottmiller took the lead calming the mood everyone stopped their conversation and stood in formation.
bang!
The door closed and darkness came.
Darkness that makes it difficult to distinguish even an inch ahead.
Courage exploration patience. Everyone was momentarily taken aback by the introduction which was unlike any other ordeal.
Rotmiller muttered briefly.

The most important information when encountering an unfamiliar situation.
“There are no enemies right now.”
The presence or absence of enemies.
Lot Miller first reported this to his colleagues and even warned them.
“Stay still. “There may be a trap.”
Either way he is a great explorer.
It must have been a quick decision.
He knows what he has to do.
Of course this was no different for dwarves.
“I’ll take care of what’s behind Bjorn so just worry about the front.”
A serious voice that completely erased all laughter.
The moment these two voices rang out simultaneously the darkness around them cleared.
A straight passageway divided in all directions like a maze.
Torches are hung on the wall at regular intervals to create an eerie atmosphere.
I quickly checked my surroundings and came to a conclusion.
“The character has entered Larkaz’s maze.”
The Labyrinth of Larkaz.
One of the three hidden fields belonging to the Tower of Heaven.
The characteristic is that even the guide cannot demonstrate his/her abilities in this maze.
and….
「Field effect – Guardian of Balance is granted.」
“The abilities of the attendees are adjusted equally.”
The total ability score of a character is redistributed according to the number of people.
“What! What is this! Could it be that I chose wrong? Rotmiller!”
Misha checked the surroundings and looked at Lot Miller with anxious eyes.
However she had no idea that he would be able to answer.
“I’m sorry. “I also have no information about this phenomenon.”
“Me too. “I have never heard of a phenomenon that leads explorers to places like this during trials of fate.”
“Ugh it’s not dangerous right…?”
Everyone in her group closed their mouths at Misha’s words.
It was natural.
It’s ironic but the thing that explorers fear the most is the unknown.
“….”
A cold silence falls.
However that time was not long.
The guys started talking urgently as if the silence from a moment ago was a lie.
“…How about just staying like this? “There are only four days left so just hold on.”
“We don’t know about this space yet. “If it is a space with a structure similar to a crack…”
“Then doesn’t that mean that after 4 days you will be trapped here forever!!”
All kinds of speculation and anxiety are pouring in.
Well I don’t know if it was the 5th floor where information is rarely shared but how could I have known that I would fall into a place like this from the 4th floor?
“Why don’t we check our status first?”
“huh?”
“Misha have you changed anything?”
I pretended not to know and told him to check his condition first.
“Oh now that I think about it… I feel like my body has strangely become a little lighter?”
Misha had a very calm reaction.
“Well I’m not sure. “Isn’t it an illusion?”
The dwarf perhaps because he had average stats among the group did not notice any change.
Unlike Rottmiller or Dwalki.
“I’m sure it’s not an illusion. “There’s no way you wouldn’t recognize it when your body is so energetic.”
“Me too. The amount of magical power has increased significantly. At this level it seems like level 6 magic is not too much but how on earth did this happen?…”
How did it happen?
It’s all gone out of my muscles.
Even though there were only three essences they were all essences with ridiculously high stats.
Damn communism.
‘How much muscle loss is…?’
I placed the mace which had become much heavier on the floor to distribute the weight.
Misha was the first to notice this behavior.
“Bjorn? “Where does it hurt?”
“My body feels strange. “For some reason I keep having no strength.”
“What?”
While Misha approached me worriedly.
Rotmiller offered a guess.
“There must be some condition. “It’s not a space where everyone can become strong.”
“condition? What are the conditions that make me weak and you strong? “This is not fair!”
I pretended to ask a question and gave a subtle hint.
Then as expected Rotmiller came up with a fairly plausible hypothesis.
No at this level can we even call it a hypothesis?
“Maybe our abilities are mixed up….”
“huh? “What does that mean?”
“I’m not sure yet so I’ll tell you later when it’s sorted out.”
Well at that level I think I can explain to them what this is without me having to step forward.
I slowly moved on to the next thing.
Because time was running out to keep fooling around.
“So what do we do now?”
“What do you think Bjorn?”
“I think it’s right for me to explore this place and find a way out.”
“Why?”
I answered without any hesitation.
“If it’s a place that others don’t know about doesn’t that mean the reward is greater?”
“This is a very explorer-like perspective.”
Despite Rottmiller’s sentiments he proudly straightened his shoulders.
No matter what you say the ultimate goal of an explorer is money.
In fact I became more motivated.
“Well I might be trapped here in four days so it’s a bit awkward to stay still…?”
“Hahaha aren’t we explorers in name as well? “I think it would be a good idea to explore the surroundings even if only slowly.”
A small amount of enthusiasm appeared in the eyes of the trio who were nervous and anxious.
Of course Dwalki’s words were decisive.
“iced coffee! “I just heard this thought but maybe this is the arrangement left behind by the last great sage!”
“what? “Are you talking about Gabrielius’ arrangements?”
“Certainly… it seems like that could be a possibility. It was also the case that three stairs of fate appeared at the same time. “It’s the same with this strange phenomenon.”
Gabriel’s arrangement.
To put it simply this is what people here refer to as what I called a ‘hidden piece.’
The dwarf shouted with ambition.
“okay! Isn’t this the place you entered from the 4th floor anyway? “No crazy monsters will appear!”
There are 4 days left until the labyrinth closes.
And so Team Banpoon’s final exploration began.
***
The Labyrinth of Larkaz.
This is not the type of hidden field I most wanted when I left the choice to Misha.
Well the final reward is the best of the three but…
‘As expected it will be difficult to wake up within 4 days.’
Due to the nature of the maze field it takes a long time.
Finding the boss is also finding it but defeating it with all our might requires a lot of work.
Therefore I decided not to overdo it.
Contrary to their worries it is not a place like a crack where you will be trapped if you do not clear it within time…
Even if you don’t clear it there are attractive rewards scattered throughout this maze.
“Then let’s go.”
We stood in our formation as we had decided beforehand and entered the maze in earnest.
“I guess we can keep going.”
I take the lead and Rotmiller follows closely behind looking for any traps.
Oh and there’s a dwarf at the very back.
That’s right this isn’t a place where monsters only appear in front.
“Miss Misha don’t worry. “I will be by your side and protect you.”
“What are you talking about? “I have to protect you.”
“Hehe then let’s protect each other.”
“…what are you saying?”
Anyway since it was a place like that our team’s two main dealers were located in the center.
Not only is it the safest place but we must provide support depending on the situation whether forward or backward.
[Meek meek meek!]
It’s been about 3 minutes since we started exploring in earnest?
A monster appeared at a crossroads.
It was the first reward of Larkaz Maze.
“This is the first monster I’ve seen. “Bjorn be careful.”
The first monster you meet.
That in itself is like a sweet rain to us.
[Dungeon & Stone] is a game where you cannot reach level 5 even if you kill all the monsters on the 4th floor or lower.
Isn’t it quite contradictory?
6 You need to eat five grade 7 essences to be able to hunt stably on the 5th floor but you can’t get to level 5 if you don’t go to the 5th floor.
‘This is why there are no newbies.’
Ah if you can get to the 5th floor aren’t you a newbie?
I erased unnecessary questions and held the shield with both hands.
It’s a bit awkward since there’s no mace but…
With my current strength level it was too heavy to swing with one hand so I just put it in my backpack.
The decision was that it would be better to just leave the deal to the dealer.
[Meeeek!!!]
The monster that was hesitant after seeing us from afar let out a scream and rushed at me.
And at the same time Dwalki shouted.
“Oh I saw it in the book! Vaikundus!”
Grade 6 monster Vaikundus.
It is easy to associate it with a mountain goat that walks on two legs.
Its height including its majestic horns is about 2.5 m.
For reference the weapon is a very large halberd that is held tightly in both hands.
Kwaang-!
As the halberd strikes the shield the heavy weight is felt throughout the body.
From the beginning I thought it was a good decision to give up Mace.
I think it would have been difficult to hold on with one hand.
‘Nimiral.’
Is it because I share my bloody body shame with my colleagues?
It feels like I’m dealing with a level 5 player not a level 6 player.
Well the battle itself wasn’t difficult.
“Riolb Dwalki casted the level 8 auxiliary magic [Ice Strengthening].”
“Lol Warb Dwalki casted the level 8 attack magic [Ice Lance].”
While I was fending off the attack from the goat’s head Dwarki completed a single specialized attack spell.
“Bjorn!”
Soon Dwalki called me and I immediately got together and ducked to the side as I came.
This was something that had always happened up to this point.
But what on earth is this?
Pishuut-!
The size of the passing ‘ice window’ is different.
The wind pressure is enough to make your skin feel cool.
Naturally the results were different from usual.
Quaaaaang-!!
A collision sound that wouldn’t be strange even if it were a ‘fireball’ rather than an ‘ice spear’.
“uh?”
Misha who had been waiting for the right moment to make a connection let out a sound of wind.
It was worth it.
Vaikundus a level 6 monster in name and color had already turned into light and disappeared.
“We have defeated Vaikundus. EXP +4」
It’s strange that his physical strength has decreased.
It was all converted into his magical power.
“Is this my magic…?”
As I looked at Dwalki muttering I realized.
Here he is no longer a half-pun.
That means.
‘If you do this the story will be different.’
It might not be a bad idea to aim for clear.
